Kacey left not long after Liara. She was still trying to process what just happened. Liara had saved her, then handed her over to Cerberus to be revived. And nobody else in her former crew knew she had found her. Joker wasn't kidding when he said the crew had fallen out of contact with each other; it would explain Garrus' anger at the asari. But even Kacey knew the turian had overstepped the line a bit. The last thing any of them needed right now was a shouting match.

She arrived at the transportation hub, and found Garrus talking with an asari behind a security counter, which she assumed was Officer Dara. As the scarlet haired commander approached, Dara anxiously spoke with Garrus.

"Just be polite when you meet her." Dara said as Kacey approached, "Justicars embody our highest laws, and they usually stay in asari space. She's not used to dealing with aliens."

"We'll be fine." Garrus replied before turning to see Kacey.

"I take it you know where she is?" Kacey asked.

"Yeah, she's at the commercial spaceport." Garrus said, "We just need to hail a cab to get there."

"Good." Kacey replied, "Now, have you calmed down yet?"

"What do you mean?"

"You snapped at Liara." Kacey explained, "I was dead for two years, Garrus. I don't know what happened between you all."

"I'll be fine." Garrus replied, "Just…I just thought she should've told Kaidan at least. About finding you and where you were. He probably wouldn't have been as angry at you as he was on Horizon if he was told."

"Maybe." Kacey replied, "Although I'm willing to bet it wasn't just Kaiden you were thinking of there."

"I would've liked to know." Garrus replied.

"Thought so." Kacey said before laughing, "Although if you both knew, you'd probably break into the Cerberus station to get me out of there, right?"

"Absolutely." Garrus laughed, as the cab arrived, "Though I'm pretty sure we'd have to bring Wrex. Y'know for extra muscle."

"Yeah, I agree with Garrus." Kaidan laughed, "Although with Wrex, we'd probably end up trashing the entire place before finding you."

"I can believe that." Kacey laughed.

As the cab landed, Kacey saw a volus with two turian guards walk in front of the cab, followed by an angry asari officer.

"Where do you think you're going?" She asked angrily.

The volus turned to face the asari, "I'm taking my goods to Omega, Detective."

Kacey had stepped out of the car, observing the scene carefully. The detective scoffed.

"You're not going anywhere, Merchant." The detective replied, "Not until I solve this murder."

"I have nothing to do with that!" The merchant protested, "It was those mercenary thugs you can't seem to get rid of."

"The victim was your business partner, and I'm not ruling you out." The detective snapped, "I'll let you know when you can leave."

"Ten credits say he killed his business partner." Kasumi whispered.

"Twenty credits say he hired the mercs to do it." Kacey whispered back. Garrus nearly facepalmed at the pair.

"What about that Justicar that just showed up?" the Merchant said, "Everybody says she might go crazy and start killing! I need to leave."

"She'll only kill the unjust—so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, Pitne For." The detective said, "Find me in the station if you need me."

The detective left promptly, returning to the station nearby. Pitne For shook his head before noticing the trio and walked over to them.

"What do you want?" Pitne For snapped, "I've already got mercs wanting to kill me like they did to my partner! I don't need anymore trouble! As if that weren't enough, some asari Justicar showed up this morning. All the natives are scared of her. I've got to get off this world."

"Where is the Justicar?" Kacey asked, "Then I'll leave you alone."

Pitne For sighed, "She's in the alley where my business partner was murdered. A detective sealed the area. So you'll have to talk to her if you want to get in there."

"Thanks." Kacey replied as she turned and headed towards the police station.

The police station was not as busy as Kacey expected it to be. She looked around the building and found the detective that had spoken to Pitne For and headed over towards her.

"Nice guns." The detective said flatly, "Try not to use them in my district. What can I do for you?"

Kacey sat down in the chair in front of the asari, "I'm looking for an asari Justicar called Samara."

"If you've got a score to settle with Samara, take it someplace else." The detective snapped, "I've got more than enough trouble here already."

"I'm here to recruit Samara for a mission, not to settle a score with her." Kacey replied.

"Justicars usually work alone." The detective mused, "But they are drawn to impossible causes."

"So, they're crazy then?" Kasumi mused.

"If you're getting her out of my district, I'll get you to her ASAP." The detective said, "She's at the crime scene."

"You're awfully anxious to get Samara out of your district." Kacey said.

"My bosses want me to detain her. They're worried she'll cause some kind of cross-species incident. But her Justicar Code won't let her be taken into custody. If I try it, she'll have to kill me." The detective explained, "I have no interest in dying, so if you lure her away with some big noble cause before I have to carry out my orders, I'm thrilled to help you."

"Don't carry out that order." Kacey said, "Your superiors are sending you to certain death for no good reason. You have the right to disobey."

"We can disobey suicidal orders?" Garrus quipped, "Why wasn't I told?"

"We can do that?" Kaidan said.

"Yeah, I would think you all would." Kacey said, "I don't think I give you guys suicidal orders though."

"Yeah, but the missions you take us on tend to end up suicidal, Kacey." Kaidan laughed.

"Not my fault." Kacey snickered.

"Well, that's a relief." Kasumi said, "No mission for us!"

"Hey, most of the time I'm not stupid about it," Kacey defended herself as she looked at Garrus, "I can't say the same for the detective's superiors."

"I'm Detective Anaya." Anaya replied, "I'm a cop, and I know my duty. I've been ordered to detain her and I will—unless I can get her to leave my district first"

"Okay, let's get started." Kacey said, standing up, "Where's the crime scene?"

"It's around the corner." Anaya said, "Go outside, take a left. Look for the police line. I'll send word to let you in. Be careful, the local Eclipse mercs have been all over those back alleys lately. Good luck."

Kacey left quickly with Garrus and Kasumi in tow. The sooner they found Samara, the sooner they all got out of this mess.

"We'd better find Samara before the detective goes after her." Garrus said once they were outside.

"Hopefully, we will." Kacey replied.

Once the trio walked past the police line and enter the alley, they drew their weapons, and proceeded carefully and quietly through the narrow alley. Kasumi, using her invisibility shield, went off ahead of Garrus and Kacey, to check to see if any Eclipse agents where ahead. As the pair walked up a small staircase, Kacey could hear voices.

"Get the rest of Bravo squad prepped. Alpha squad went after that Justicar 20 minutes ago, and they've gone dark."

"Looks like we're on the right path." Kacey said.

Kacey dived behind a crate on the right, while Garrus did the same on the left. Kacey chucked a grenade into the area with her grenade launcher, while Kasumi swiftly killed the small group's leader. Garrus quickly shot one of the stragglers. Once they made sure there was no more mercs nearby, the trio entered through another door, where an mercenary was tossed screaming into the wall beside them. Garrus jumped aside to avoid getting hit by the now dead body. Kacey looked over to a small box room above the area, and saw one merc standing, shaking as she raised her pistol.

"Those were my best troops." She said, her voice shaking.

Kacey saw the merc being approached by an asari wearing a mostly red jumpsuit with gold accents. Her body glowed with a blue biotic aura as she carefully and gracefully approached the merc, her high-heeled boots barely making a sound against the floor.

"Tell me what I need to know, and I will be gone from here." Her smooth, calming voice echoed through the area, "Where did you send her?"

"You'd think I'd betray her?" the merc said, "She would hurt me in ways you can't imagine."

"The name of the ship." The Justicar said more firmly, "Your life hangs on the answer, Lieutenant."

"You can kill me, but one of us will take you down, Justicar." The merc said defiantly.

Kacey watched as Samara simply picked the merc up biotically and tossed her through the window. She then gracefully flew down onto the ground and pinned the merc down by placing her heel against the lieutenant's neck.

"What was the name of the ship she left on?" Samara asked again.

"Go to hell!"

"Find peace in the embrace of the Goddess." Samara said calmly. She crushed the merc's neck with her boot with little effort, leaving the trio stunned as they carefully approached the Justicar.

"That is Samara. Calm. Collected. Brutal."

"My name is Samara, a servant of the Justicar Code." Samara introduced herself, "My quarrel is with these Eclipse sisters, but I see three well-armed people before me. Are we friend or foe?"

"I'm Commander Shepard." Kacey said, keeping Dara's words in mind, "And I need your help with a critical mission, Samara."

"You honour me." Samara replied, "But I am in the middle of an investigation."

"I'm going up against suicidal odds, and I need the best—that's you."

"I sense the truth in what you say, and it humbles me. But I seek an incredibly dangerous fugitive. I cornered her here, but the Eclipse sisters smuggled her off-world. I must find the name of the ship she left on before the trail goes cold."

"I wish you were willing to go with the human, Justicar." Anaya said, walking into the room, "I've been ordered to take you into custody if you won't leave."

"You risk a great deal by following your orders, Detective." Samara said, "Fortunately, I will not have to resist. My code obligates me to cooperate with you for one day. After that, I must return to my investigation."

"I won't be able to release you that soon."

"You won't be able to stop me."

"Uh, the human is lost here." Kacey said, "Can one of you clarify?"

"I was trying to convince her to leave with you." Anaya said, "But Justicars and their code…"

"The detective has been ordered to detain me." Samara added, "I can't force her to disobey an order."

"And after a day, Samara fights her way out of custody, killing everyone in her way?" Garrus said.

"I am afraid so." Samara confirmed.

"There must be some way we can all get what we need." Kacey said.

"I see a way." Samara said, "While I am in custody, you can find the name of that ship. Do that, and I will join you. Then the Code will be satisfied."

"Okay. Do you have any leads?" Kacey asked.

"The volus merchant, Pitne For, is tied to this. Eclipse mercs are preparing to kill him. Get the truth out of him. He may know a way into the Eclipse base."

"Well, I've got to get back to my station." Anaya said, "And, I guess I've got to take you with me."

Samara nodded at the detective before looking towards Kacey.

"Thank you, Shepard."

Samara followed Anaya back through the alley, with the trio close behind. And all Kacey could do is hope that one day would be enough.
