Aang had always thought that Katara was the one he would end up with as the two of them got older, but he was very wrong. When tensions start to rise among the group, and Katara’s eagerness to help Aang with everything soon becomes too much for the young Avatar to handle, he finally snaps at her. Mounting stress causes Aang to go into the Avatar State and he loses control.

Amid a sweltering heatwave, Aang and his best friend Zephyr find solace at the bustling Jasmine Dragon as they navigate the challenges of communication and identity. Zephyr, who is deaf and genderfluid, grapples with feeling misunderstood. Aang reassures Zephyr of his unwavering support, promising to help others accept them for who they are.

Despite balance being restored, and peace mostly established, Fire Lord Zuko has resistance factions, and trouble in the colonies to deal with. With the Avatar, their friends, and a mysterious addition in the form of a palace guard, he will attempt to become the leader of a truly great, prosperous and compassionate Fire Nation, and find new love on the way.

So this is just for fun. AU, non-canon, whatever you want to call it. Not to be taken seriously in any way, shape, or form. Katara buys a cursed trinket at the market. Not that she believes in curses, mind you, but it does all seem to go downhill from there.

It is now the third cycle after Avatar Korra restarted the Avatar cycle, and the first Avatar from the United Republic has finally appeared. Living in a world much like our own, Avatar Yang will be taking on end stage capitalism and environmental collapse as she tries to regain balance in the world.
