Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's everyone! So, this kind of went out of hand with Hakuno's parentage in-story that I had been planning the whole time with this revelation. Reason why I did this? To mess with Artoria and a few members of the Round Table in the future.
Also, the second story of the Lunar Mare Duology that takes place in CCC is now out! It is called Dark Seeks Light. An early gift but I won't work on it until the New Year starts.
She dreamed of a distant memory.
"Thank you, Lady Witch. Thank you for all your hard work." A girl with her limbs rotting off told her with a pained smile. "Everyone speaks ill of you, but I'm grateful to you, Lady Witch." She continued as the two began their journey together. "Thank you for all you've done for us. Thank you for all you've done for someone like me." The girl faded away, becoming nothing more than a faded echo as the woman was alone on this new journey of hers. A continuation of her previous story.
The woman recalled her journey, being labeled a witch instead of a savior. She recalled one time in Orkney when her other self from a different time, entrusting everything to her other self. The love for her homeland was there, strong enough to influence the 'her' of this time.
The 'her' in this alternate time was to end Britain by Paradise's request. She embraced the life of 'her'. Ending calamities, pacifying quarrying fairies as they accuse her of being a witch.
She lost everyone she cared for in Londinium that fateful day, leaving her all alone once again. She didn't despair, she had suffered much before and resolved to create her own Britain, her own Fairy Kingdom.
She betrayed both Paradise and the Human Order to pursue her dream, and they would come even with the walls of the furthest end. Fairy Britain existed on the same coordinates as the one in pan-human history. Visitors from another history…
"How was my country? Was it a beautiful country? Was it a dreamlike country?"
Nothing would make her happier than that. She always pictured herself asking these people those exact same questions for 2,000 years since her rule.
"Dear visitor, welcome to the Fairy Kingdom of Britain. I pray this scenery will forever remain within your memories."
A wish that would (not) come to pass.
Betrayal. Death. Ruin.
The Fairy Britain she made and protected for so long…gone. Ruined and denied of existence. All she can do was cry. For the dream has ended.
Don't be sad dear child…
!
A voice, so gentle and kind spoke to her.
I have seen your kindness, your hard efforts with good intent squashed by unrepenting sinners. I shall reward you for your last act of kindness to your daughter.
Baobhan Sith. Her daughter…
You have another one, from a different human history that diverted. Surely 'you' remember her?
…
…
…
Her Inheritor and Successor of Albina's Black Mana. The Will of Britain that lived on the Moon.
She is going to be facing her own perils now…in a different Lostworld as Avalon le Fae.
No.
No.
No!
NO!
She too bears the burden she rejected! Must 'she' suffer more loss and heartache?
I will give you time and a chance to save her and redeem yourself, what say you?
…What did it want?
Aid in this world's older moments of history, for you are still Avalon le Fae. The fairies or spirits they are mostly called will follow you. Royalty of the Fae.
Knowledge poured into her. The fairies of this Lostworld were not the descendants of those Sub-Bells that had caused her much pain and sorrow for the millennia's she fought in. They would worship and praise her like the ruler she wanted it to be for the role of Avalon le Fae had changed in this Lostworld. Her wish would be granted in this world by the entity contacting her in this limbo.
It offered her a chance to create a proper Fairy Britain without the problems of the Lostbelt harassing her attempts. It was the carrot and stick situation because this thing was tempting her.
Would you like your loyal four be summoned alongside you in due time?
The Fairy Knights and Woodwose, ever loyal to her at her side again…
It will summon them to her side if she completes her task. One by one. Free from the dark influence of the old Lostbelt and the curses afflicting them.
What did it gain from this?
That [child] of yours hold promise we've never seen before. We'd like to nurture it a bit more in this Lostworld we've made to see if she can prove herself worthy of her gifts. Especially when Chaldea returns. She will face them for the sake of this world and the people she's bonded with.
That's its game. The child was entertainment for them. Bastards. What's stopping them from just pruning the world like a Lostbelt?
I seek to nurture life, while my other culls without remorse. We decided to bet if the child can overcome the similar threats of your Lostworld in this one and allow it to permanently exist or not.
She felt dread and horror crept inside her heart. Similar threats to that she had to face? Calamities?! They recreated her own past to test the child and watch her potential suffering!
'She' needed to end the cycle of karma bound to 'her' existence and save that child from a life 'she' already endured and suffered from. If 'she' can save her, then not only will 'she' have the Fairy Britain she sought for but give both her daughters a second chance at happiness.
It was reckless of her, but she must accept this deal for their sake. Better fighting for a world with promise than to watch Chaldea burn it away like hers.
Then we have a deal your Majesty. Let your legend begin anew…
With that, the Winter Queen of Fairy Britain, Morgan was granted a second chance of redemption and thus her tale as Avalon le Fae would be recorded by a certain god who would regale her legend to his adopted grandson.
*Countless Years Later…*
Morgan sat on her throne, the little fairy delivering a newspaper of all things to her instead of report papers. She raised a brow before accepting the thing and reading the frontline page and her eyes widened by a small smidgen that only a trained eye would notice.
Holy Witch Ends Ishtar's Reign!
The girl, Hakuno Kishinami was in this Lostworld. From memories of her other self, Morgan le Fay this was her 'daughter' by blood.
After her 'defeat' at Camelot, Morgan le Fay resurrected due to her nature as a fairy and lamented the loss of her beloved Britain that was in ruins. She was imposed on self-exile and slowly withered away with no will to live. Enduring wars and changes to history as a background character, Morgan le Fay would disguise herself and fabricated her own family history until one day she traveled to the Far East.
Hearing of the strange tales of spirits and gods, she humored herself on a whim to study and make sense of it all. It was that moment in this timeline when magic was declining, and the world was dying when the world's mana disappeared. This whim was her final life, and she was going to make use of it to enjoy one simple, plain boring hobby before disappearing for good.
Then, he appeared. Takaya Kishinami, the seemingly ordinary guy she bumped into one day.
At first, it was coincidence that they met. Then the second time was by chance, then third it must have been fate.
Morgan blushed at her other self's memory of falling for such a simple human. The man had a stubborn streak that match both versions of Morgan in determination. He was a nice man who listened and tried to understand her, listening to her woes and griefs. Then it became intimate; and Morgan le Fay discarded her identity and became Elise Kishinami.
She had become a housewife and then a mother to Hakuno Kishinami, twins with the same name to be exact. She kept her past hidden from her family, pretending to be a foreigner learning the customs of a different land and try to blend in. Then she saw the potential her children bore. Both had magic circuits and it was of no use in a world where magecraft was dead and gone, leaving only Spiritron Hackers (Wizards) to remain of what a magus was in that timeline.
Then Amnesia Syndrome took the male Hakuno, leaving only her grieving daughter without her other half. It was a painful memory, and then Hakuno herself suffered the same disease, desperation overtook both parents.
Takaya used his old connections to get Hakuno into cryogenic storage until a cure was found, but Elise did a little tampering with the machine. One that would pay off when the bioterrorist attacked and killed both parents. The tampering she did would help Hakuno live outside of the cold slumber she lived in and drift the internet as a Wizard.
Elsie followed her child, releasing her grip on flesh and became digital code and numbers in pursuit of her child. Only to find themselves in the Lunar Holy Grail War.
That moment was Hakuno's tale to tell. And Morgan refused to recall the bizarre experience of existing as Master Elise Kishinami and Servant Morgan le Fay at the same time. That madness she'd rather forget ever happening. Leave the lunacy on the moon!
But this was a pleasant surprise, for her 'daughter' had bested a high ranking familia all by herself. A chip off the old block was the saying she believed. But now, she wanted an eye on the girl. She had a fairy secretly spy and report of Hakuno's stats in Orario so she could prepare for the long-awaited reunion.
She learned of Hakuno being of the Hestia Familia, its founding member and Captain. She was a Level 1 and she bested Ishtar and her familia in their own turf.
She learned of the duel with Ais Wallenstein, child of Aria and how she's converted from Loki's familia to Hestia's and leveling up.
It had been good progress so far, but then Hakuno was sent to investigate something, and Morgan had a spy tail the girl.
She was surprised by Gareth's appearance in the Lostworld, and then completely pissed when Lucius Tiberius was tagging along, trying to woo Hakuno. When the time was right, she was going to permit her Fairy Knights to show no mercy on that bear once and for all. She hated him for subjugating Britain in life and hated his very existence as a Servant trying to steal her 'daughter' away.
Then there was Merlin, fucking Merlin of all people appearing in her dreams. If the immature bastard wasn't a nightmare enough, he had the nerve to enter Hakuno's dreams as well. The only thing he did that was good was explain the nature of the Lostworld and the dangers Hakuno was going to face before she killed him in her dreams. She had to make protection wards in case the incubus appeared to her again.
So, when Morgan decided to scry and see what Hakuno was up to, she was taken aback.
Hakuno was dressed up like her, had her hair and eye color and was roleplaying as her. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Morgan believed it when Hakuno spoke like she did towards the two goddesses in the Fake Dungeon.
Then Hakuno and her own Fairy Knight Ais began to show why they're not to be trifled with even if acting out a performance.
The Fairy Queen could not help but applaud when the two goddesses were felled without much effort. Things were starting to become fun again it seems…
*Orario*
"Sorry Mother, I did my best to hold back but…" Hakuno apologized with a sheepish smile while Hestia was sulking to the side while Freya was laughing.
"That was quite enjoyable. I do look forward to trying again on a later date if you're ever back here Hakuno." Freya told her. If there was one thing Freya hated, it was losing. And losing to Hakuno, even if it was just a simple game, made her want to try again and win.
Meanwhile Hakuno felt several glares with the intent to kill her and inwardly sigh. She didn't even need to look to know it was other members of Freya's familia upset because she got a little rough with their goddess. They were so overprotective of her to the point it won't make any outdoor hobby for Freya fun if they fret over every small thing.
"By the way Hermes, what exactly was the prize supposed to be if you'd beat the game?" Hestia asked.
"Hm? Oh, any reasonable request from me to fulfill." Hermes answered as none failed to notice the sly smile on Freya's lips when she heard that. She had a thing or two that Hermes could do for her, and by winning this will be quite a way to acquire certain favors from the god.
"Hmm…Well at I know one thing, Hakuno's magic is scary." Hestia nodded her head in understanding while Freya smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Such power, even my children would have a hard time against it since there are no resistance to magic except for high quality gear." Freya mused and the Holy Witch knew that Freya would prepare when the time came for both familia enter a War Game. She had done her own research on the goddess, and she knew this was Odin's counterpart when it comes to finding worthy souls for her afterlife in proper human history. She saw potential in her with how interested she was, and it made her wary.
Freya looked at her and smiled, there was a desire in her eyes, and she compared it to Kiara in that regard. But hers was twisted and selfish, Freya's was longing and hopeful. What was it that Freya was looking for?
Out of the blue, all of Orario shook, a nasty earthquake unlike any other caused everyone to stagger before a great pressure sent a cold chill of terror and dread through every adventurer's spine before something busted out from the ground. A bright red star and Hakuno knew it was something from the Dungeon itself as it flew in a certain direction.
She could smell it.
It reminded her of Lucius, but worse. The bloodshed this thing carried on its soul made her vomit. If the bloodshed that clung to Lucius' soul was foul, then this thing that escaped was like an ocean of sludge. Repulsive and nauseating to the highest degree. What kind of being could be so disgusting in terms of shedding blood of others that she'd want to avoid being on the same continent with it? Even now that damn thing's scent was strong even if far away from Orario. She'd have no problem tracking it down if she was inclined to do so.
Hestia was busy checking to see if everyone was alright, Freya's loyal adventurers were already by their goddess' side as she looked at the direction where the red star flew towards with utter disgust. Faintly, just faintly, did she hear Freya mutter these words.
"What a repulsive collection of warmongering souls…"
