I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon and Jurassic Park/World belongs to Universal.
Upon stepping foot on the docks of Isla Nublar. The first thing that both the Louds and the McBrides did was look uneasily at the dense jungle ahead, where they can already hear the calls of dinosaurs echoing out from it. To think that their boys were somewhere in there.
"Well, we're here." Harold uneasily announced.
"Yep. We are officially on the island of death."
"You going to be okay Howard?"
"Who me?" Howard laughed. "I'm as calm as a breeze." A loud roar from a distant dinosaur suddenly makes him yelp in fright before he then promptly fainted on the spot with a loud thud.
While Harold attended to his passed out husband. Several of the Loud siblings have taken the liberty to walk a few steps ahead of the others before outright stopping in their tracks.
"I can't believe we are actually here." Lana exclaimed with hidden excitement. She always wanted to go on a vacation to Jurassic World ever since she first heard of it, and while she knows very well that this wasn't a fun vacation for the family. It doesn't stop her from feeling a little bit of excitement, especially when she finally sees some actual dinosaurs. Hopefully the T-Rex.
"So Lis. Are you sure our bro and the Clydesdale is at Main Street?" Luna asked with one hand resting on her hips.
"It's not a hundred percent guarantee. It's only a leading start on our overall search of the island." Lisa replied.
"So we aren't going to find them there." Luna sadly clarified.
"I didn't say that, but it's best not to get your hopes up." Truthfully; Lisa didn't want to think that, but going by complete logic, Lisa found the chances of Lincoln and Clyde hanging around in Main Street at this precise moment is very low; for all she knew, the two could be foraging in the jungle at this very moment.
Leni in the meantime is now just starting to feel the tropical heat. "Phew! Like guys. This heat is like, totally fizzing up my hair." Looking over to her; Luna, Lisa, and Lana see that Leni's hair has become a bit messy on some parts, mainly on the sides. "Does it look bad?"
"It's nothing to worry about sis." Luna reassured as she handed her sister a comb, much to Leni's appreciation.
"Thanks Luna." Combing her hair, Leni takes a few careful strokes before a whistle from behind gets her's and her sisters attention. It was Rip Hardcore who stood in-between two other men with guns firmly held in their hands.
"Listen up mates. Before we move out to find your lost cubs. I must make a few essential ground rules that will make sure we will all get off this island alive. Number one; stay together all the time. That means no wondering off alone when you gotta use the bathroom or think about going on a lovely stroll. Number two; always do as I say. I may not know a lot about dinosaurs, but I have been around dangerous wild animals to know on the safest way to avoid them. Finally number three; no making any loud noises. Doing so may attract very dangerous carnivores. Now that you have heard these important rules, does anyone have any lingering questions before we head out?"
Everyone shook their heads no for they all understood the rules very well, they had to for their own safety. Unfortunately though; the thought of death made a recently conscious Howard to pass out again.
"Sorry. This will only be a second." Harold reassured while pulling out a scent bottle.
"Oie mates. I very well hope that he doesn't do that during a life or death situation." Rip whispered to the guy on his right for that's a very big disadvantage this fella would have during a life or death chase.
After a few seconds of waiting for Howard to wake back up, along with Lola, Lynn, Luan, and Leni to take a short bathroom break before leaving. They all finally leave the docks, where about three of Rip's close friends stayed behind to keep maintenance of the ship; so that they will be ready to leave this island by the time they came back with the missing boys.
Walking for about two miles through the jungle by game trail, both families kept a wide eyed visual for anything dangerous. So far there hasn't been anything besides the bugs that all seemed to be only swarming Lola, who in frustration kept swatting them away.
"You know; for a dinosaur filled jungle. You expect to see one by now." Lana complained as she pushed aside a fern, while shifting her eyes around for any sign of them. She would gladly settle for any dinosaur, even one of those small ones. Moving ahead, she unintentionally has the fern slap right into Lori, who crossed her eyes in slight annoyance.
"Maybe they're all doing the dinosaur." Luan joked with a few silent giggles.
"More accurately; the island is currently going under a natural order of things." Lisa remarked after jumping over a small ditch.
"What's that mean, sis?" Luna asked.
"It's very simple third oldest sister. The island simply isn't big enough to support the large population the scientist of Jurassic World have created. It's fine for an artificial environment, leisurements, street name; zoos. However take away the health care, maintenance of keeping certain animals apart, unlimited resources. The animals now suddenly find themselves vulnerable to diseases, being hunted down by predators or get into fights with very territorial herbivores or carnivores, not enough food to keep them going. All this leads to is the die off of those unable to adapt to the sudden wild environment, while the ones who are able to. Will thrive with no competition from the ones that have fallen."
"Boy. That's literally sad." Lori uneasily commented after squishing a bug on her arm.
"It's the natural way of things. You have to remember that all of the dinosaurs are not naturally from this island, they're more of a invasive species. This scenario would be no different to any other area in the world, for instance; let's say Great Lake City; if all of the zoo animals escaped into the wild, many will die, while some will survive. It's also very crucial to remember that this isn't the first time something like this happen on the island, the exact same scenario happened during the famous Jurassic Park incident."
"So how many do you think died?"
"I'm afraid I can't provide a proper answer for that question eldest sibling. But I do know this however; the general population has gone drastically down."
"I wish that same, whatever you just said, applied to all these icky, annoying bugs!" Releasing a growl of frustration, Lola pulls out a spray can and proceeds to unleash it on the swarms of bugs, buzzing above her head. When the last one fell; a great satisfaction filled her. "You don't like my peppermint hairspray do ya. Huh! You annoying, lowlife buzzards!"
Her victory is very short lived however for more bugs came to swarm the young girl, who in turn releases a shout of utter rage as she unleashes more of her hairspray.
"You may want to lay off on that hairspray, little lady." Rip suddenly warned after chopping down a vine with a machete.
"Surly one little hair spray wouldn't hurt anything." Lynn innocently remarked for he can sympathize with how his young daughter is feeling, especially when a few bugs began to swarm around him as well.
"If you want carnivorous dinosaurs to easily smell you, then; sure go ahead. Keep spraying." Rip sarcastically replied during a brief pause of a swing; as he gave Lynn a deadpanned stare before continuing onwards.
Having that horrifyingly thought in mind, Lynn quickly turned to his daughter. "Put that hairspray away Lola."
Normally Lola would argue, but she certainly didn't want to get eaten, so; even though she did grumble a bit, Lola did put it away, and once she did the bugs resume their swarm. "Ugh! What am I going to do now!"
"Don't worry Lola. I got the perfect solution."
Curiously turning to her twin, Lola is suddenly splattered with a large, wet pile of mud that covered her entire face. Blinking a bit, Lola's gaze hardens in anger for her beautiful face is all yucky now. Lana in the meantime smiled brightly for the mud was working perfectly. The bugs were now finally leaving Lola alone. "Natural bug repellent. Works every time."
Lola would have retorted, if Rip hadn't suddenly stopped with his hand held out to signal them all to stop as well, making them all nervous.
"What is it? Why did we stop?" Rita asked in a quiet whisper.
"There's something up ahead." Is all that Rip said before slowly creeping up towards a large log.
Carefully fallowing after him. They all looked over the log and saw a grazing herd of dinosaurs; either on all fours or up on their hind legs. Many of them are eating upon the low ground ferns, while some kept a sharp lookout for predators before going back to feasting themselves.
"Our first dinosaurs." Lana exclaimed in amazement for they were absolutely magnificent, especially with those distinctive sale backs. The others felt the same thing, except for a good few, who couldn't help but get a bit nervous; these ones were mainly Lori and the parents. The animals are clearly herbivores, but you can't be too relaxed when it comes to these scaly things.
"Ouranosaurus: an animal in the Ornithopoda group of dinosaurs. Lived during the early Cretaceous in Africa with the sail on its back being its most distinctive feature." Lisa couldn't help but explain for she is deeply fascinated with these large herbivores.
"Are they dangerous?" Lori uneasily asked, getting a bit jumpy as one of them got up on its hind legs and let's out a loud call.
"Only when provoked. They are generally docile if we all keep a respectful distance."
"What are the sail things for?" Lynn asked while watching one of them bump another's head aside in order to get to the ferns for itself.
"Scientists aren't really sure; some theories suggest they use them as a way to soak up heat from the Sun, others say they're used for display purposes or to help store fat. Looking at these live ones, it seems that the second theory may be correct that they simply use them for display along with telling each other a part. Notice how the males are more colorful than the females."
The Ouranosaurs continue to graze with two of them getting back up on their hind legs to do another sweep around the perimeter for any signs of danger. One of them looks in their general direction causing some of them to flinch up in worry of an incoming attack. Instead it looks at them for awhile before finally settling back down to feed.
"Looks like we have to go around them in order to move forward." Harold whispered.
"We can't move, mate." Rip spoke up.
"Why not?" Howard asked. He was sure that by keeping a good distance away from the animals, they were going to be alright.
"Because we are in the middle of a hunt." Rip answered with narrow eyes.
Before either of them had a chance to ask him what he was talking about. The tyrannosaur suddenly bursts out through the trees and uses her massive head to knock a juvenile, (that had wandered a bit away from the herd in order to eat a bush close to the thick vegetation) off her feet.
The young herbivore squeals in surprise from the sudden attack, her legs kicked around in a way to defend herself against the massive predator that clamped her mouth down on her neck, effortlessly picked her up, where with one crunch of her mighty jaws, decapitates her.
The headless body crashes back to the ground. Leaving the head to be held in the tyrannosaur's mouth, where she looked at the fleeing herd before lifting her head and ate it with two crunches.
For the two families; they are all absolutely speechless as the attack had happened so fast, but also very gruesome at the end. It made some of them sick enough to make their faces turn green.
"I didn't even hear it." Luan whispered.
"Tyrannosaurus is an ambush hunter." Lisa remarked. "It needed to be very quiet in order to get in as close to its prey as much as possible before going in for the strike."
"That poor creature though." Leni cried, she hated to see something bad happen to any animal whether if it was big or small.
The Tyrannosaur in the meantime; steps back a bit before lowering down to gently press her snout down on the dead dinosaur's hide, growling lowly as she nudges it a bit. She then open her mouth and bit down, where she makes sure to get a good grip on her meal before lifting it up off the ground. Turning around, she carries her meal away into the jungle.
Although she was gone, none of them move from the spot they were planted in, until the thuds of her footsteps completely faded away into silence. Hopping over the log, they slowly crept up into the middle, while completely keeping an eye on the jungle where the tyrannosaur had disappeared into, while some looked at the flatten, bloody grass of where the dead ouranosaurs laid a few seconds ago.
"Amazing. Over the many years of seeing carnivores kill their prey. I never saw a kill go like that before." Witnessing the raw strength and jaw muscles the dinosaur had; brings him completely right back to his childhood. When he used to look at a picture of a roaring T-Rex and imagine on how the great predator would hunt its prey. The reality exited all expectations on the Tyrannosaur's might.
Lynn and Lana felt the same thing. Sure; they had been just as in shock as the rest of the family over the brutal attack, but once they managed to get over the shock of it. Their emotions changed to excitement over seeing a actual T-Rex hunt.
Lynn Sr. Rita, Harold, and Howard at the meantime were terrified for that could have been easily one of them or most horrifying their kids. They needed to complete this rescue mission as soon as possible before it became a tragic reality. "Excuse me Mr. Hardcore, but if we could get moving. That'll be terrific" Howard requested.
"Of course mate. It's for the best anyway, since the smell of blood will draw in more carnivores hoping to get the leftovers." Rip remarked, causing a few of them to shake a bit and look around at the surrounding jungles in paranoia before gladly moving away from the area.
The mid-afternoon sun shined down on them as they all sat down for a quick break after twelve minutes of walking. They have settled down underneath several large trees for the shade, while several water bottles are being passed around.
Taking one sip, Luna sighed in satisfaction as she felt the cool water go down her throat before passing it over to Lucy. "So how far is it to Main Street, dude?"
"Judging by our current position. I say we have about two more miles to go before reaching Main Street." Lisa answered.
"Alright that's not so bad. All this walking is literally doing good for my thighs." Lori proclaimed before taking a few sips of water.
"If we can make it that is." Lola quipped.
"Now Lola." Rita slightly scolded. "We made it this far. No need to think such negative thoughts."
"Mom's right Lola. We should be safe once we make it to Main Street; as unlike in this jungle. No dinosaurs can sneak up on us." Lana added.
Lisa raised a finger to protest that statement, but decided against it as to not spoil the moment. It was also at this moment Lynn Sr. pulled out a couple bags of trail mixes from his pocket. "Anyone up for trail mix?"
"I am mate. Hand me that delicious bag of treats." Rip answered with his hand eagerly held out. After Lynn handed him the bag, Rip opens it and happily takes a few bites before his mind traveled to the two missing boys they were searching for. "So tell me. What are your kids like?"
"Well Lincoln is a very kind boy, who always comes up with these plans that either benefits him or all of us." Rita felt herself smiling widely the more she thought about her boy, and she wasn't alone for her husband and daughters happily joined her on thinking of the everlasting memories they had with Lincoln. "He cares very much for his family and would do whatever it takes to help us out with our problems."
"Clyde's like that to." Harold chimed in. "He loves to cook, which he's very talented at I must add. Last year, he made the most stupendous cake for Nana Gayle's birthday."
"I remember that." Howard reminisced. "He added that spectacular chocolate fountain on the top." At this; Howard immediately began to tear up for all these memories is only making him miss his baby even more. "Oh! We just gotta find him!"
"And we will mate. I promise." It was a stretchy promise as Rip doesn't even know if they are still alive, but damn it! He's going to make good on that promise. "Now I believe we are all rested up. We should keep moving while it's still daylight out."
Putting everything away, they all get up from their spots and continued on their way towards Main Street.
They were unaware however that in the thick bushes; the raptor with the blue streak, watched them intently. Opening her lips slightly, she considers to rush in on them, but held herself back for their were too many heads on look out, but that wasn't the only thing keeping her back. No; what really concerned her is the guns in their hands, she knew that they were dangerous and didn't want to risk being shot by one of them.
She needed to find a way to separate one of the humans from the rest of the group before going in for the kill. Raising her head up, her nostrils just then picked up a familiar scent that may help her pull off such a task. Quickly, she rushes off in the direction of that scent.
Going around a bend; the cone shaped top of the Innovation Center finally came into view above the treeline. "Well there it is mates. Main Street."
"Do you think Linky over there?" Leni asked in hope with hands clenched in front of her chest.
"Possibly, but as I stated earlier. It's not a hundred percent guarantee." Lisa reminded.
"I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to step foot on concrete again." Lola stated for her shoes are getting very dirty, it's going to be great to wash the mud off them once they get there.
"I don't think we can move forward." Lucy suddenly proclaimed.
"And why not?" Lynn question. Why can't they move forward?
Without uttering a word, Lucy simply pointed ahead to a large stegosaurus coming out of the jungle. Silently; they watched it lumber on up to a tree, where the plated dinosaur began to scratch itself against it.
"Aw man! Of course this guy decides to scratch himself here." Luna complained.
"No big deal. Well just simply go around it." Lori remarked, after all this was only one animal. However before either she or any one else could move, a slight vibration is suddenly felt rumbling right through their feet.
"Do you guys feel that?" Luan asked as the vibrations seem to grow stronger. Looking down, she sees small pebbles bouncing around before the sounds of branches breaking gets their attention. Looking in the general direction of where the sounds are coming from, everyone jumped in surprise as a flock of gallimimus stampeded towards them.
"Everyone get out of the way!" Rip shouted for he has been in these situations many times before.
Letting out a few shouts of terror. The McBrides and the Louds jumped out of the way of the panicking dinosaurs that rushed past them, all kicking up dust and rocks. Through this sudden chaos, Edmund; one of the men who had been accompanying them, ran out of the way of the speeding gallimimus and right towards the stegosaurus, who immediately let's out a defensive roar before turning the back of its body towards him, raising its tail up.
Realizing his mistake. Edmund skids to a stop, but was too late as the stegosaurus swung its tail and struck one of its thagamizers right through Edmund's chest. Lifting him up into the air; the stegosaurus looked at the lifeless body hanging from its thagamizer.
Releasing an annoyed grunt, the stegosaurus swings its tail around before at the last the body catapulted off and flew somewhere into the jungle. Having the unwanted hood ornament off. The stegosaurus goes off to find something to drink.
Unable to get out of the way in time. Joel; the other accompanying man, found himself dodging the large bodies of the speedy dinosaurs that ran past him.
It was extremely difficult to dodge them, especially when he nearly got trampled by a couple other ones more than once. Luckily up ahead is a large boulder that he can take shelter behind, speeding up, he practically dived behind the boulder and curled himself into a ball as he watched the flock rush pass him, until the last ones disappeared over a hill.
Having save himself from getting trampled, Joel held his chest as he let the air out of him, until he completely managed to calm himself down.
But now with that danger over. Joel can now get himself back to Rip and the rest of the group. It shouldn't be too hard for him to find them, since those gallimimus trampled the grass they were running on, but if the grass wasn't going help him; the Innovation Center is a good landmark.
Getting up, Joel takes one step forward when something jumped up on the boulder. Turning his head slightly, Joel is suddenly tackled to the ground with the searing pain of sharp teeth tearing into his right arm, the same arm holding his gun, which dropped to the ground.
Joel barely acknowledge this as his upper half got lifted up off the ground and thrown like a ragdoll, where he rolled right against the base of a tree. The searing pain burns like fire as he sat himself up, wincing as he held his heavily bleeding arm.
Slightly opening his eyes, he only catches a quick glimpse of the animal that attacked him, rushing at him with its left, large toe claw raised up. The claw stabs straight into his stomach; that with one quick motion slashes downward, spilling out his intestines.
The pain was very intense now. Joel began to tear up as all he could wish for now was that the pain would end very soon. His wish was mercifully granted by the animal as it bit down on his neck and broke it with one quick motion.
Raising themselves up with a few dust stains on their skin and clothes. The Louds and McBrides looked around at the trampled vegetation, footprint covered ground, and crushed wood. But the one thing they quickly noticed however is that they were missing two people, people that Rip Hardcore immediately began to look around the area for.
"Joel! Edmund!" Roaming around the area for any sign of his close companions, he gets to the area where the stegosaurus had been scratching itself earlier. Where upon looking over to a bush, Rip finds a tranquilizer gun right along with a few splatters of blood.
"Oh no" Studying the blood splatter, Rip took notice on random it was; as if whoever the blood belong to had been violently thrown. Now looking to where he thought Edmund or Joel had been thrown to, all Rip could see is nothing but jungle before looking down in forlorn over what happened.
Through this grief progress. He doesn't take notice of the families coming over to his side. Upon noticing the blood; many of them cringe for they knew what it meant, while Lucy silently put on a funeral hat as she already began to come up with a goodbye poem for their recently departed traveling companion.
"Oh gosh. I'm terribly sorry for your lost. He must've been a great friend." Harold gently stated with a comforting hand placed on Rip's shoulder. Fallowed by Howard, Rita, and Lynn who all placed their hands on his other shoulder or back.
"He truly was mates. Edmund or Joel has been with me ever since we graduated high school. They've been there when I did my first night out in the African Savannah." There was also the time during one of their outings in the Australian outback, when they had the unfortunate experience of finding a funnel web spider in one of their boots. It was very lucky no one had put on that boot during that day.
"We should have a moment of silence." Rita suggested for it's the most respectful thing to do during a tragedy such as this.
"Much appreciated." Lowering his head down with them. They all stood there in silence for about two minutes before Rip at last broke the silence. "We best get moving now. It's not much of a good idea to remain in one place for very long around here."
"Wait, but what about the other guy?" Lynn Sr. asked as they should really wait for him.
"Don't worry. Joel or Edmund knows where we're going. Will meet up with him there, if he manages get away from the stampede first." Rip reassured.
"I suppose so." Rita remarked before continuing on with the others in the direction of Main Street.
Crashing through the bushes and ferns. The Scorpios Rex leaps itself onto a tree and climbed all the way up to the top, where it looks around the area before picking up something with its thermal vision.
Jumping off the tree with a mighty thud when it landed on the ground. The hybrid runs forward a couple miles before suddenly stopping near the edge of the jungle. Raising itself up to its full height, the Scorpios looks out from a ledge and stares out to the docks; just to see the docked boat with people walking around near or on it.
Growling silently. The hybrid gets itself down to all fours, where slowly; it stalks its way towards the boat and its newfound prey.
