Feeling Alone – Part 2

Vic smiled sadly at Andy and grabbed her hand. "We're 19, Andy. We'll always be a family. No matter where we go."

Andy just looked at Vic, wanting to disagree but in her heart, she knew that Vic was right.

It was 15 years after the team had gone their separate ways when Andy was on a call with the new team.

"Warren!" Andy called from outside the building. "Report! I need to know where you are."

"I'm on my way out, Captain. Helping out the last civilian." Andy breathed a sigh of relief. Whenever Pru was in an active fire it always made Andy stress, but she knew Pru was more than capable of handling herself.

"Good. Go straight to the aid car after you get out, o…" Andy got cut off by some of the building collapsing. "Warren!" Andy called and got no response. "Pru! Report! Please let me know where you are!" Andy was desperate to hear her voice and when she didn't, she grabbed her gear and rushed towards the building. Telling the captain from station 7 to take over command.

Andy rushed towards the building and was about 20 feet into the warehouse when she saw Pru. She helped her carry the victim out and watched Pru lead her away from the building when more of the roof collapsed and landed on Andy.

"Captain!" Pru cried out when she heard the collapse. She passed the victim off to her partner while she and Zamora helped to move rubble off of Andy. It took them a couple minutes to do so and when they turned her over, they saw that Andy had a head laceration that was bleeding heavily. They worked on picking her up and carried her to an empty aid car. Pru stayed with her while Zamora stayed behind to help with the fire.

Pru watched as the medic worked on getting Andy on some oxygen and an IV. She pulled out her phone and dialled Ben's number.

"Hey, Kiddo. Everything okay?" Ben answered and when there was silence, he started to worry. "Pru?" Ben asked and that got Miranda's attention. "What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Ben asked her as he stood up and began to pace.

"it's not me you need to worry about," Pru answered. Ben paused and looked at Miranda.

"Pru, who was injured?" Ben heard a sob escape his daughter's mouth. "Pru?"

"It's Andy. She was helping me rescue a victim and then the roof collapsed, and she hit her head." Ben was still staring at Miranda, he was speechless. He didn't know what to say. "We're on the way to Grey-Sloan now. About two minutes out. Please be ready for her."

"We will be baby, we will be," Ben told her and hung up. "Miranda, It's Andy. She was hurt." Miranda's expression changed from confused to concerned as she and Ben rushed out of Miranda's office.

Miranda pulled out her phone and dialled Amelia's number as they were riding down the elevator.

"Amelia, I don't have time to get into details but you're about to be needed in the ER. Please meet us down there." Miranda rushed out and as soon as she and Ben got to the ER they rushed out to the breezeway, the same time Amelia did.

"Who's coming in that's so urgent that you need me?"

"Andy," Ben said, not wanting to play any games. He watched Amelia's face drop. "I know. She hit her head, that's why Bailey called for you." Ben explained.

Amelia nodded. Since pretty much all of 19 had moved away, Andy and she had become very close. So close that she couldn't imagine her life without her. She took a deep breath and went into doctor mode as she saw aid car 19 come into view.

The doors swung open and Pru was the first one out, helping to bring down the stretcher, tears falling from her eyes. Ben pulled her into a hug while Miranda and Amelia rushed off.

"Hey. Hey." Ben tried to comfort. "She's going to be okay."

Pru let out a heartbreaking sob. "She coded twice on the way here," Pru told him and he had to hold back his shock.

Oh, God. Shit. That isn't good. "Pru. Can you please wait in Miranda's office? I'll update you as soon as Miranda updates me." Pru nodded and walked towards the elevator while he walked towards a private exam room that was unoccupied at the moment. He pulled out his phone and dialled a familiar number, hoping she wasn't in the middle of anything right now. He only had to wait a couple rings.

"Ben Warren." She answered. "What's up?"

Ben sucked in a breath. Trying to gain the courage to tell his friend what was going on. "Vic, I need to tell you and Travis something," Ben told her. "Can you go and get him, please?"

"Yeah, I can. Give me a few seconds." Vic was silent for a few minutes before talking again. "Alright, what's going on?" Vic asked.

"There was an accident." That was all Ben managed to get out. He heard Vic suck in her own breath and breathed out.

"Who?" Travis asked, Ben guessed because Vic was too shocked to say anything. Ben must've been silent for too long. "Ben, just tell us who."

"Andy. It's Andy." Ben told them.

"What happened?" Vic was the one to ask this time.

"She went into a building to save a member of her team and a victim and as she was standing by the exit when some of the building collapsed on top of her."

"Who was she trying to save?" Vic's voice shook like she already knew the answer.

"Pru."

"How bad is it?" Travis asked this time.

"She had to be revived twice." Ben managed to choke out. He heard Travis and Vic gasp. "Look, I know you guys are probably busy over there but…"

"Say no more, Ben. We're on the earliest flight out to Seattle." Travis told him. Vic still in shock.

"Thank you," Ben said and then hung up, knowing there was nothing else to say.

Ben breathed in and out. Not ready for the next call he would be making. He knew she was probably busy with her family, but Ben also knew how important Andy was to Maya. Ben sighed and hit her contact.

"Hey, Ben. What's up?" Carina was the one to answer.

"Is Maya with you? I need to talk to you two about something."

"Yeah, Ben. I'm here. What's going on?" Maya asked and Ben could tell that she was concerned.

"It's Andy." Ben ripped the band-aid off.

"What the hell happened?" Maya asked.

"She was trying to help one of her team members get a victim out of the building they were working on when some of the roof collapsed on her head." Ben rushed out.

"Shit." Maya let out. "How bad is it?"

Ben swallowed the knot in his throat. "She had to be revived twice."

Maya let out a whimper and he could imagine Carina pulling her into her arms. "Ben, does she need surgery?"

Ben closed his eyes. "She does." He said and there was silence.

"We'll be there in an hour," Carina told him and hung up.

Ben knew he still had a couple of calls to make but he didn't really want to. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Ross, Sullivan, Ruiz, Jack. He rubbed his forehead.

Ben went through calling them. All of them have the same questions. He hated everything about it. He hated that he had to keep repeating that Andy had to be revived twice. He didn't want to think about that. He didn't want to think about his close friend dying over and over again.

But now he had to wait. He had to wait while she was in surgery. He left the private room and made his way towards Miranda's office. He sighed before walking in but when he did, he saw Pru sitting on one of the couches, head in her hands.

Ben sat beside her and pulled her into a hug. Pru gripped him and started to sob.

"Shh. Baby, Shhh. It'll be okay. She's strong, okay?" Ben ran his hand up and down Pru's back. "She'll be okay." Ben wasn't sure who he was trying to reassure more. He or Pru but he knew holding his daughter in his arms was somewhat helping in keeping him calm, but she also knew how bad this probably was.

Ben was holding Pru in his arms for who knows how long when the door opened. Miranda came in. She wore a tired expression on her face.

Ben and Pru looked up.

"How is she?" Ben watched Miranda walk over to the couch and sit next to Pru.

"Bad. It's bad." Miranda told them. Not wanting to lie. "She's been induced into a medical coma. She coded on the table, and it took us much longer than I would like to bring her back. She's being settled into a room right now." Miranda grabbed Pru's hand and got her to look at her. "How about you grab the change of clothes I keep here for you and then we can go to her room." Pru nodded, ran a hand over her face and stood up to go and change.

Miranda sighed as she watched Pru grab the clothing and then turn to Ben. She looked into his eyes.

"It's worse than you just led on. Isn't it?" Ben asked, grabbing one of Miranda's hands.

Miranda nodded. "Yeah." She whispered. "It is. A lot worse." Miranda ran a hand through her hair. "She obviously has the head injury, but she also had a broken leg and a sprained wrist."

Ben sighed. "This isn't good."

"No, it's not." Miranda agreed. "she's going to need all the support in the world after this." Miranda said, being careful with her words, not wanting Pru to overhear and get more worried than she already is.

"I know she is." Ben agreed. "How bad is the head injury? Will she be able to go back to a normal lifestyle after this?"

"It depends on how she heals."

"Damn it." Ben huffed. "This isn't fair. Why the hell do bad things keep happening to her?"

"I don't know, Ben. But I do know at nearly 50 she should consider slowing down." Miranda almost rolled her eyes at how long Andy had been a firefighter.

"Oh, come on now. You know Andy wouldn't slow down until she was forced to."

"I know. That's what worries me. It isn't just her that she needs to worry about."

*Gonna be one more part to this "one-shot" lol*
