(Marcus - POV)

Felix drove us to the Cullen's home in Forks. It was pretty remote from the rest of the town from what we could tell. That was delightful to me. This was an ideal location for Felix and me to set up shop. We pulled up outside and Carlisle came out to greet us.

"Marcus." he said.

Carlisle had always been a great friend of the Volturi. Aro had truly wished for Carlisle to join us, maybe be a fourth ruler. But Carlisle had always had a softer heart. Ruling was not in his blood, and he'd never have been able to make the punishments. He believed in chances. While the Volturi couldn't afford too many chances. It was rare to give a second chance. And to get one from the Volturi was not to be squandered.

"Carlisle, it's been far too long." I spoke to him.

Felix grabbed our bags and took them into the house. Carlisle said nothing as he done this. My assumption was that young Alice had told him of this from a vision. Carlisle waved me into the house. Esme, his mate, greeted me upon my entrance. She introduced each member of their coven. I noticed young Edward was not present, but I could hear him elsewhere in the house. Such a rude boy.

"Rose, dear, could you please show Felix to their rooms for the luggage?" Esme asked the beautiful blonde.

Rosalie nodded and led Felix to our quarters. Carlisle asked me to his study to discuss Italy and what had been set down by Aro. We did. I told him of everything that had occurred. That Isabella was not Edward's mate to his belief. She was just his blood singer. Isabella was my mate and confirmed by my own gift. He nodded. He congratulated me. I could see some sadness in his golden eyes. He knew that meant Isabella would become a vampire. And that meant that she would be returning with me to Volterra.

"I had hoped that Bella would not have to endure this life with all of us. She is too pure for it. Alice has said from the start that Bella would be one of us. She had seen it the moment she met her. I should really learn to not dispute her visions." Carlisle said wryly.

I understood his plight I would rather Isabella and I both be human and court or date as they call it nowadays. I would rather grow with her, have a family and grow old together. It was truly what was right. Everlasting life was boring at best. You could find plenty to occupy yourself but what of when you had finished it all? There was only so many times you could read a book before you memorized it. So long before you've mastered a language. There was only so many notes to accomplish before the musical well ran dry. Carlisle knew this.

We spoke for many hours about everything and nothing. He had always been a great conversational companion. Our talks did bring up the subject of Edward. Charlie and I forbid Edward to have contact with Isabella. Isabella had told me what she had went through with his leaving and everything he had said to her. He had meant to make her believe that he truly had not cared for her, that his family had not cared for her. Then left her lost in the woods with this Victoria hunting her for revenge for a mate that they had executed. I did chide Carlisle on that part. You cannot just kill a mate and leave the other to survive. It was cruel. I was a prime example of that. Sure, I had Isabella now... but how many centuries had I suffered with Didyme's demise?

I made it clear as crystal that Edward would live, and his family would stay whole if Edward understood the lines that had been drawn in the sand. I also made it known that it may be in his family's best interest if they left Forks and Edward was given proper re-education about the vampire laws and boundaries. He would also be required to return to Volterra at the end of the month for Aro to inspect that the re-education was to Aro's personal satisfactory. If he did not show, well, Demetri was already here and ready to hunt him down and we would see to his swift execution.

Carlisle was pensive for a few moments. He then sighed heavily and called Esme and his family to the study. All of the family came to the study. Even Edward. I could hear Felix, too, had come to the study with the family.

"Carlisle, it would be easier to re-educate Edward if all of your family would act like vampires instead of humans. You will get nowhere pretending to be what you are not." I stated.

Carlisle and the family had frozen. They had heard the entire conversation; they knew what was coming. So, what was the point in coming in like a human family to make it an announcement?

"You are vampires. Act like it." I said, "Don't make me enforce it as an order. You all will report before Aro at the end of the month. Re-education to his specifications. Otherwise, Caius will make heads roll."

It was quick succession after that. The Cullens packed their things. Esme gave Felix the keys to the house. I assured Carlisle when we returned to Volterra the key would be left and they could have their property back. They left quickly. More than likely to run to Alaska to the Denali's. I believe I will have Felix and Demetri make a surprise visit sometime in the next week or two to ensure that everything would be going as instructed or... I will give Caius his heart's desire to the elimination of all of the "Vegetarian" vampires.

Now that I was myself again, pre-Didyme's death. I was a harbinger. The whole of the vampire world knew my history. It was long, bloody, and gory. I was the executioner.
