"Evidence?" Harry stared at his old friend. He knew Alec had been through more than most when dealing with his demons but he knew the former IA man would do anything to protect those he cared about. And that he cared about the Section as if they were family. Ruth frowned, listening intently as Alec sighed.

"I went to see Ceri."

"Ceri?" Ruth asked.

"Current editor in chief of the newspaper Farquhar's son works for. Ceri Bradfield."

"Ok, what evidence does your ex-fiancé have for us?"

"You never told me she was an ex-fiancé." Beth stated as Harry rolled his eyes.

"You didn't ask." Alec snapped. "Anyway, she has been looking into near miss aviation incidents. Has upset a few people, including her boss. He wants her out. "

"Why?" Ruth asked.

"Because one of the near misses she was investigating led her to the FSB. Or rather the plane Elena's lot tried to drop over the south of England a few years ago."

"What?" Harry felt his blood run cold. "That was classified."

"Yes." Alec paused. "It still is but Ceri, like your friend Farquhar is very good at finding information she wants."

"Well, we may need her if she's out of a job soon." Ruth smiled as both Harry and Alec looked horrified at the idea. "Well, Jo was a journalist before she came to us."

Beth watched for a moment. "Ok, so she has found something that links this woman to Farquhar and some plane crash that never happened? What is it?"

"Not entirely sure." Alec fished in his pocket before pulling out the small memory stick. He passed it to Ruth. "I don't know what is on that but Ceri was scared enough to come to me. And after the way we broke up I honestly thought I would never talk to her again."

"Ok." Ruth turned the small device over in her hand. "And you brought this straight here? No one in Thames House knows?"

"Only Beth and myself." Alec stated as Ruth put the small device into the laptop on the coffee table. Biting her lip she nodded as the black screen faded away to an encryption coded screen.

"And she didn't give you the code?"

"No."

"Ok, well I'll have to get Tariq to work on this with me." She frowned. "I can break it but he's faster than I am at this stuff. I'm an analyst not a code breaker."

"Right." Harry ran a hand over his face. "Get him here. Alec, Beth."

Both officers stood up. "Sir?" Beth turned to Harry who merely raised an eyebrow at her. "He's trying to destroy us. Farquhar. Him from the inside and this Andrew bloke and Krycheck from the outside. I don't know exactly what went down with the Gavriks but they clearly don't just want the Section finished, they want us dead."

"I know."

"Harry, they want Alec, Ros, Dimitri and me gone. Decommissioned. Malcolm is under close watch, his age is brought up nearly every ten minutes by that scumbag. There's a reason they want us gone. He already thinks you, Catherine and Ruth are finished." Beth frowned. "I don't know how we stop them."

"Keep doing the work you do. Carry on as we always have and don't give them an easy excuse to get rid of you. Beth, trust me I am coming back and they will pay." Harry paused. "Even if you are decommissioned I will get you back."

"Ok." Beth glanced at Ruth who had buried her face in her hands. She wanted to believe Harry but she had a feeling he was promising more than he could deliver.

Lucas splashed water on his face as he thought about the car engine exploding in the car park. The memory of the hotel years earlier had hit him once more. Knowing Ros had been trapped in the damned hotel had nearly killed him. Running into a burning building wasn't something he had done for anyone before or since - but the idea of a world without Ros Myers had been too much to bear. Now as he thought of the destroyed car he realised he was shaking.

"Lucas."

"Yeah." He grabbed a paper towel to dry his face.

"Are you quite alright?"

"Thank you, Malcolm. I am. Bumps and scraps. Had worse." He smiled at the older man. Malcolm nodded. The older man walked around the men's toilets, flushing them all and running the taps as Lucas raised an eyebrow.

"Malcolm?"

"The old tricks are the best."

"Really?" He watched as the technical officer checked the door. "What's happening?"

"I have intercepted an email. I wanted to give it to Ros, but she is currently with Farquhar."

"Oh ok." Lucas closed his eyes for a moment, praying his wife wasn't about to be arrested for murder. He knew she was determined to break the new boss. It seemed he had the same intention where she was concerned. "What did it say?"

"They believe Harry to be dead."

"I know."

"They also believe yourself and Ros will be dead due to a tragic and unforeseen car accident. Lucas, the email was sent before the car blew up earlier today. He intended yourself and Ros to be dead by now. It was a murder attempt but it was pre-planned. Harry is gone." Malcolm looked away. "Ruth and Catherine apparently not active at present and now he wants to rid us of Ros and yourself."

Lucas nodded, the fear and anger burning in his stomach. "Who else knows?"

"Adam. He was hear when I had a little look at the outgoing emails from Farquhar's personal account."

"OK." Lucas paused. "Keep this on the low down. He cannot even have an idea that we know what he did." He stopped at the men's bathroom door opened and slammed shut.

"Ros, this is the Gents!" Malcolm rolled his eyes as Ros glared.

"I am aware of my location."

"Ros." Lucas read the signs immediately. "What is it?"

"He's met his nemesis, Lucas. This stops and it stops now."
