They had just finished the surgery and the boy was going to be fine despite a few cuts and bruises that would take longer to heal.
"That was intense," Owen said as he and Cristina both scrubbed out.
"It was and it's more frustrating when these new batch of interns don't know how to answer basic medical questions and are dumber than preschoolers."
Owen chuckled as they both hopped onto the elevator and rode in silence when Crsitina turned to face him and spoke, "You're an ass you know."
"What?" Owen asked confused slightly laughing.
"Last night when you were leaving you knocked your stupid glass of wine all over me," she said. "And left me in a bad mood the rest of the night."
"Oh crap, I'm sorry I didn't even realize," Owen said feeling embarrassed.
"Just wanted to let you know that those pair of pants are completely ruined not to mention I've had those since college but what the hell it was kinda funny though."
"I thought you were pissed about it and now you think it's funny," Owen laughed.
"Well I've got post-ops to check on Dr. Hunt," Cristina said not wanting to comment turning back professionally as she walked in the opposite direction.
"These interns are beating the living crap out of me I'm this close to strangling one of them," Cristina said 2 hours later as she stood next to Meredith at the nurse's station.
"That wouldn't be a bad idea I lost a patient today," Meredith said.
"What? You killed someone already?" Cristina joked.
"Lost literally can't find in addition to losing my patient I also lost my intern turned around he has gone AWOL."
"See what is wrong with these intern's we weren't like this," Cristina complained.
"We were great interns," Meredith insisted.
"I was great you were good," Cristina said before looking back at the chart she was working on.
"You see this? Meredith asked Cristina referring to the scans in her hand.
"That's a huge tumor on the pancreas lucky you. It's been slow in the Cardio World," Cristina mumbled.
"Looks like I won't be able to meet you at Joe's tonight," Meredith reminded her,
"It's fine I didn't feel like drinking anyways."
As Cristina was about to head off, Owen approached her, "Uh, Dr. Yang?"
"Did you need something, Dr. Hunt?" She asked not bothering to look up.
"Actually yeah," he stammered placing a shopping bag on the counter where Cristina was standing. she eyed the bag suspiciously, raising an eyebrow. "What's this?"
Owen cleared his throat, "I uh felt bad about last night and I got you a new pair of jeans. I didn't know your size but I tried my best."
Meredith couldn't help but smile at the sweet gesture, but Cristina crossed her arms, unimpressed. "You think buying me pants is going to do what exactly?"
Owen shifted uncomfortably, "I just thought it would be a decent thing to do."
Cristina glanced at the bag and then back at Owen. "This isn't a decent thing to not to mention completely unprofessional no human being would do this Dr. Hunt."
Meredith interjected, "Come on, Cristina, it's just a pair of pants."
Cristina shot her a look, "I can buy my own pants, thank you very much."
Owen sighed, "Look, I felt bad about the incident. If you don't want them, fine but can you just accept the gift without making a big deal? I spent 20 minutes in the women's section trying to find something suitable for you and kept getting weird looks from the sales lady," Owen said.
Cristina sighed, "You're not going to leave me alone until I accept the gift right?"
"You can put it like that," he chuckled slightly
"And this is just you trying to be nice right nothing else?"
"Aye just me being nice," he said a bit confused about what she meant by "nothing else."
There was an awkward silence before Cristina closed her chart and fully turned to him, "This was a really bold move of yours Dr. Hunt but... thank you."
"Phew I thought you were going to throw the bag at me and tell me to shove it up my ass," Owen admitted.
"I could still do that but I'm not gonna since you did me a favor."
"Well I'll see you around Dr. Yang," Owen said as he walked away from her.
"Aww that was nice of him," Meredith gushed.
"Shut up I only took it because he wouldn't leave me alone it's not like I'm going to wear them.
"Right.." Meredith smirked. "And from what I just witnessed you two seem to have this large amount of... tension."
Cristina shot her a sharp look, "What are you talking about?"
"Well you know ever since he came back to the hospital since he kissed you he's been focused on everything well expect you."
"Meredith it was just a kiss I'm over it and he probably is too," Cristina said annoyed.
"If he was over it why did buy you something" Meredith challenged her. "And don't tell me you didn't notice how excited he seemed to give them to you before you decided to rain over his parade I kinda felt bad for him."
"Okay A: he had no right to come up to me and force me to accept his little gift. B: I don't even know him and he's just another person who doesn't respect boundaries and C: We aren't friends and never will be."
"You didn't mention anything about a relationship," Meredith smirked.
"Im done with this conversion Im going to head to Joe's," Cristina said grabbing her phone.
"Don't forget about the bag!" Meredith reminded her smiling.
Cristina stopped abruptly before turning back to the Nurse's station grabbing the bag and cursing under her breath that this day was the stupidest out of all the days she's had where people don't respect boundaries.
