Forest was preparing Charity's birthday breakfast. She was in her study as she had woken up an hour earlier.
He came in with the siblings. "Happy birthday, honey/Mom!" They said to Charity, who smiled. Luke was still giving Shane the side eye.
Forest began to feed her. "Darling, easy with the big portions! Are you trying to rush me through breakfast?!" Charity asked Forest.
"Sorry, babe, just trying to help." He says.
The siblings left as Lucy went to the vents.
With Luna, she was at the Aspen ski lodge with Sam, skating around on the nearby pond.
Charity was heading to her office in the city. But before she left, she looked at Luke.
"If you physically attack Shane, Luke, you will be staying home from the New Year's Eve celebration this year. That's a promise. Lance and Sharon have entrusted Shane and his siblings to our care while they go to a yoga retreat in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains for a few days. So, right now, I'm leaving Luan in charge. She has my number should anything happen. And please, by all that is holy, behave. Your father will be home at noon, then we will all go to lunch at Slice Of Life, the new pizza place." Charity says. And with that being said, she leaves.
Shelby took Shane out, supervised by Leni, who had the day off from work. Shelby was too young to take Shane out unsupervised. Shane wanted to cry.
"He's still mad at me…." He says.
"Luke needs time." Leni says.
"It had been a thing for 3 years…I had no idea that he never played Santa before…" Shane says.
Lucy took Luke out. Luke wasn't happy that Lucy kept taking him out so much. So he asked her why she was doing so.
"I just wanted to let you know the real me. I don't really feel safe around anyone else." she says
Luke sighed.
Later, Lucy decides to look for Rocky as Luke looks at Oliver's house, which is empty. They were coming back today because of Charity's birthday party.
Luke soon comes home, bored, and sees Garrett and Melony eating ice cream together.
"I can't wait to go to school!" Melony says to Garrett.
"I know, but Oakley Academy has a uniform. Not regular clothes." Garrett pointed out.
"I really don't care what it is." Melony says. "I'm just happy about finally getting to go to school."
Luke stormed past them, Garrett taking notice of Luke's dark mood.
"He's mad, bitter, and envious. We need to do something." Melony says.
"Promise you won't use violence." Garrett says
"I won't." Melony says.
She walks to him. "Hey, Luke, listen, I may be blind, but I'm a good listener and it must hurt. I don't know, but when you got separated from your mom, you weren't allowed to do anything, am I correct? I'm guessing it's all those years of not getting special privileges. Mr. and Mrs. Loud abused you and Shane used you like a slave. I've been shut out my whole life. I know how you feel." Melony says.
"No, you don't!" Luke says.
"Then hit me. Unleash all your pent up frustrations, come on!" Melony says, spreading her arms out. "You never tell anyone about anything and I know there is way more trauma than your siblings know what happened before Lucy saved you. What happened after she adopted you? I'm willing to listen or be your pent up frustration punching bag." Melony says.
Luke gladly did both. He was sobbing as he punched Melony and told her everything word for word, leaving nothing out.
"All I want is to be treated well! Is that so hard?!" Luke sobbed. "To be shown that I'm special! No one understands my autism at all!"
Melony sighed. "I-I g-get it…" She groaned as her body was hot and cold, shaking left and right before falling down.
Luke was shedding tears as soon as Charity came home. Lucy came and rushed to Luke.
"Oh, my sweet treasure and my beautiful little sapphire gem, why are your beautiful Arctic blue eyes so flooded with tears?" Charity asked as she embraced her crying son.
He points at his siblings.
"What did you kids do to him this time?!" Charity asked.
"Nothing! We've been doing our own things today." Leni says.
"Everyone hates Luke!" Luke sobbed, pointing at Shane.
"H-he h-has a lot of past trauma from the ones who abused h-him in the past. His classmates, foster care, the Loud parents, and more p-people…" Melony groaned. She had two black eyes, a swollen lip, and bruises.
"I don't need help." she says, getting up. "Just help him. I think a small gathering should be enough. Parties are not really healthy at this point." Melony says, walking home.
"Lucy, I know you're suffering through some issues. Take Leni and your cousins to Lily's room." Charity says as Leni nodded.
"Except Shane." Charity says, glaring at him.
Once Shiloh, Shelby, and Leni are upstairs with Lucy, Charity begins to speak.
"How could you kids abuse him in the past?! You're animals! Monsters! Do you really love torturing Luke?" She asked.
"That was us in the past. We've changed." Lola says.
"Yeah, we really have changed for the better." Lincoln says.
"Just one thing. Why didn't you call me instead of keeping Luke to yourselves?" Charity asked
"We thought you died." Lola says.
"What?!" Charity asked.
"The parents that Lucy found told her that you died and Lucy did something she totally regrets. She killed 16 people in that home." Lola says.
"My poor boy went on thinking I was dead?!" Charity asked.
"We all thought about it. Heck, there was a fake obituary and everything. If Sally never took Luke to her office, you two would have never reunited." Lola says.
Luke sniffed, crying. Lucy overhears this and frowned.
Flashback
Lucy's P.O.V.
I readied my shovel in my hand. They killed his mother. I was in a boiling rage. I never usually snapped like this, but it was too much. I saw Luna take Luke away and I lunged in for an attack. I swept 2 on my right and punched a 3rd.
They all tried to attack me, but I used magic to kill them all. I was truly lost.
Flashback over
Luke was in his room as Leni brought him some food. Charity was greeting Gabriel and the Foxes downstairs.
"Yeah, we're back, though our step-siblings are still on vacation." Oliver says.
"Oliver!" Luke says, smiling at him.
"Luke! I missed you! And I brought you a gift from Huntington Oaks!" Oliver says.
"Ooooh…a fuzzy blanket and a bulldog plush toy!" Luke says. "I love my gift! Thank you, Oliver!"
Luan gave Charity her gift, a joke book to cheer her up. "Thank you, sweetie." She says to Luan.
"How old are you today, Mom?" Lincoln asked.
"53." she says. "I will have a lot of candles on my cake like always, I'm sure!"
The siblings giggle as Charity opens Forest's gift. It was car keys.
"Oh, Forest! You got me a Range Rover this year! And it's in a beautiful shade of pink! I love it and you!" Charity says, kissing Forest.
She finds Luke's gift. It was a trophy with a little statue of her on it.
"Sweetheart, I love this!" Charity says. "Thank you!"
Luke smiled and hugged Charity.
After a bit, Charity was doing a mother-son dance with Luke to I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. Charity smiled at Luke and held him close, vowing to never let things get like they were before. She vowed to treat him better and made sure to let the siblings know that.
Later, Lucy reads a poem, which Charity liked a lot. Luna performed her favorite song over video chat, which made Charity happy. It felt good to know her kids really cared about her and knew that they'd do better when it came to Luke.
After that, Charity, Forest, and Gabriel sat and chatted in the living room while Luke, the Foxes, and the siblings played games in the den.
Lucy went to her room, hearing Luke forgive Shane for his actions.
"I-I…" Lucy stammered. "No, please not tonight…"
Lucy held her stomach.
Meanwhile, Skylia had mailed a package for Charity. Charity smiled and opened it.
"What is it?" Gabriel asked, looking at it.
It was a music box that played Charity's favorite classical piece, Vivaldi's Spring.
"Awww, how thoughtful!" Charity says.
With Luke, he was eating with the Foxes.
"So, you forgave Shane?" Oliver asked Luke.
He sighed and nodded. "For now, until he does something like the others would do. I mean, he is a Loud like his cousins." Luke says.
Soon, it was piñata time. Charity had no idea what to think of this.
It was a star piñata. Charity shrugged and broke it open with Forest's prized metal Louisville Slugger bat. Everyone cheered as candy poured from the pinata.
Later, everyone was watching her highlight reel, which this year featured her first time on ANH. Luke was smiling when he saw Charity playing guitar on the video.
"You looked amazing there, my love." Forest says.
"Thanks." Charity says with a smile.
Soon, Luke brings out the cake he baked for Charity.
"Awww, honey, it's beautiful!" Charity says as the cake is set before her, all 53 candles lit.
Everyone began to sing to Charity as she smiled. She then wished that Luke would be treated better and wished Luke or Garrett would win ANH and blew out her candles as everyone cheered and ate the cake.
