Chapter 3: Skywalker Family

We came to Naboo.

For the past ten years as a result of Qui-Gon preventing Anakin from turning to the dark side and after the fall of Darth Sidious Anakin and his wife Padme settled at the Lake Country raising their children Luke and Leia.

With the Surviving Jedi as fugitives to the Senate Anakin too had to assume a new identity himself using Qui-Gon's last name Jinn and even his mother's married name Lars Anakin went by Jinn Lars in public eyes and Padme's vice chair in serving the Queen of Naboo to support.

But behind closed doors he was Anakin Skywalker the Chosen One and the Savior of the Galaxy.

Padme was supposed to host a gathering tonight so during the early hours Anakin in his meditation room and…in meditation of course.

He was viewing the dark vision Qui-Gon's force ghost had shown him if he had turned to the dark side…

He came to realize it was similar to the events that happened ten years ago.

Anakin leading the attack on the Jedi Temple.

Similar to the Clones attacking the Temple.

Him killing the Younglings.

Him SAVING the Younglings.

His duel with Obi-Wan.

His and Obi-Wan's duel with Palpatine.

Both were slightly similar just in different sides of the force meaning...

Anakin woke from his meditation STARTED by his 10 year old son Luke.

Anakin painted and then laughed.

"Luke…" Anakin said with a smile.

Luke giggled as his father stood up.

"What did you think? The Sith Lord came back for revenge?" Luke asked.

"I knew I shouldn't have told you that story." Anakin.

They both laughed.

"What are you doing here? You know this room's off limits." Anakin said to his son.

"But Dad R2 showed Leia me a recording!" Luke said to his father.

"He showed you what?" Anakin asked.

"R2 had this old recording of your laser sword battles. Fighting droids. Giant bugs. Many Clone Wars." Luke said.

"Really?" Anakin asked.

"Uh-huh." Luke said.

"Alright well…I'll be able to take a look at that recording later. But right now you need to go up to your room and get ready for your mom's party." Anakin said.

"But-" Luke said.

"No buts. Go up stairs and get ready. I'll be out soon anyway." Anakin said.

"Okay. But when are you gonna train me to be a Jedi?" Luke asked.

"Son, we already talked about that. Jedi training isn't a game. Trust me. You don't want that." Anakin said.

"But I want to save the Galaxy like you did." Luke said.

"And I'm sure you will. But that's not today. I'll see you upstairs." Anakin said.

"Okay." Luke said.

Luke finally leaves the room.

"And if you're down here I wonder what your sister's up to." Anakin said.

What 10 year old Leia was doing was playing out in the trees by the lake.

With her droid Lola given to her by Senator Organa for hers and Luke's tenth birthday and soon she heard her name being called out from below.

It was Padme and she had a serious smirk on her face.

"What'd we talk about climbing trees? Come down." Padme said to her daughter.

Leia giggled and carefully climbed down and came by to her mother.

"Leia, how many times have I told you? No climbing trees. You could easily get-" Padme said.

"Hurt or fall. I know. I'm sorry Mother, I just…like seeing the lake at a higher point." Leia said to her mother.

"Well there's more than what way then just tree's sweetie." Padme said.

"Like what?" Leia asked.

"Like…when your father takes us out for a flight over it or the hill tops in the Meadow where we went on picnics." Padme said.

"But the hills don't have close views." Leia said.

"Well they are safer. Come on, we need to get back and get ready." Padme said.

"Okay." Leia said.

"And please don't bring your toy again." Padme said.

"Her name is Lola, Mother." Leia said.

"Well Lola will have to sit this one out tonight. Let's go." Padme said.

Padme held Leia's hand as they walked back to Lake Country.

In her room Padme was doing Leia's hair.

"Ow!" Leia said.

"Hold still and let me help." Padme said.

Soon the door opened and Anakin, well dressed, came in and smirked at his wife and daughter.

"Another bad hair day?" Anakin asked.

"One you could help with for once." Padme said.

Padme chuckles while teasing her husband.

"Well I just thought I told ya Luke's hungry and I wanted to make sure you're okay if he-" Anakin said.

"Just give him one snack." Padme said.

"Hi Daddy." Leia said to her father.

"Hi Leia, honey." Anakin said to his daughter.

Anakin kissed his daughter in the cheek and left the room while Padme continued braiding her hair and tying it up her head.

As the evening arrived Anakin, Padme, Luke, and Leia stood outside with the number of guests arriving…

The first to arrive was Jamilla the Queen of Naboo herself.

"Your highness. It's an honor to have you as our guest." Padme said.

"It's been too long. And…Vice Ginn Lars." Queen Jamilla said.

"Your highness." Anakin said.

Yes Jamilla remembers Anakin during Padme's assassination temps but kept his identity secret for Padme's and the children's sake and of course never supported Palpatine's role in the senate either.

Anakin gave the Queen a respected bow as did the twins after him…

Next the Organa's of Cauldron arrived.

"Bail and Breha welcome." Padme said.

"It's good to see you again Senator." Anakin said.

"Indeed. Especially with things like that are looking up." Bail said.

"How's the voting?" Padme asked.

"Not good. Hundreds of Palpatine's supporters have been voting for Mas Amedda. Even if I win the election in the Senate I won't have proof to clear the Jedi or shut down Order 66." Bail said.

"You don't have to pressure yourself Senator even if you manage to clear us it's not like I'll be returning to the order. Just like Asoka made her choice I had to make mine. I can't be a Jedi with a family to support." Anakin said.

"That makes two of us." Bail said.

Bail soon even noticed the children and smiled kneeling down to them, mainly Leia.

"Why hello you've gotten big last time I saw you." Bail said.

Leia giggled shyly but cutely Luke looked at them confused why wasn't Bail acknowledging him too.

And it wasn't the first time since they were five years old Leia had more attention than Luke apart from their parents Leia was admired by many on Naboo even Padme's friends from the Senate Bail grew attached to her cause he and his wife always wanted to raise a baby girl and couldn't have one of their own and it made Luke feel alone and neglected…

At the party when all the guests were here Leia still got more attention than him.

And it made Luke's anxiety uneasy. Luke pouted and laid down on a table Leia came over for water and even made one for Luke.

"Thirsty brother?" Leia asked her twin brother.

"No." Luke said to his twin sister.

"What's wrong?" Leia asked.

"It's not fair. You get all the attention from everybody and I never get any!" Luke said.

"Well that's because I'm a Princess." Leia said.

"Are not!" Luke said.

"Am too!" Leia said.

"ARE NOT!" Luke said angrily.

"AM TOO!" Leia said angrily.

The twin's arguing got some of the attention of the guests even Anakin and Padme's a minute after them.

"Oh no." Padme said.

Padme ran to them and stopped the argument by pulling them away from the party and in their party Padme was furious with them the way they started arguing in the middle of the party.

Anakin was concerned and both sat them down on Leia's bed.

"Children, what's gotten into you both? This was a public event and not permitted to a silly fight?" Padme asked.

"Luke was being mean saying I'm not a Princess!" Leia said.

"All because Leia gets all the attention except me! Everyone likes her more than me!" Luke said.

"Now there's no need for any of that. I'm sure this is all just a misunderstanding." Anakin said.

Anakin knees down to his son and daughter.

"When I was your age I felt your Uncle Obi-Wan got more credit from the Jedi Council than I did from each mission and I was extremely angry." Anakin said.

"You were?" Luke asked.

"Yes. And when your Grandmother Shami passed away…I said he was jealous. But…that was grief talking. And…a part of me I hope none of you ever have to see. My point is kids…you should never have to be jealous of the other who gets most of the attention because what matters is the love your mother has for you both." Anakin explained.

The twins nodded while Padme grew a smile to Anakin's wise words.

"Now how about apologizing to each other?" Anakin asked.

"Sorry Leia." Luke said.

"Me too." Leia said.
