Luz immediately shushed them, not wanting the whole school to know about what was going on.
"Yea me and Eda saw it about three days ago." Luz explained. "It was only for a few moments but once Eda saw them, she said she was going to call her sister to tell her."
"Well, that explains the recite activities from the emperor's coven." Amity said thinking about seeing a lot of guards heading for the docks on her way to school.
"What did the mermaid look like?" Willow questioned. "Did you get a good enough of a look to see if the rumors are true about their scales shining in the light?"
"Yep, it was almost like looking at a jewel untouched by my man." Luz explained remembering what it looked like when she first got her tail.
"I bet the mermaid was gorgeous." Gus suggested.
"Back off Romeo." Luz quickly said, getting a bad feeling from Gus's words. "I didn't even see the Mermaid's face. Just the tail, I would have thought it was another creature if Eda did see it first."
"Too bad, I would love to see a mermaid." Amity said with a bit of joy in her voice.
"Um Amity, do you think that would be a good Idea for you." Willow questioned. "Considering your mother."
Amity immediately thought of what her mother might try if she found out about the mermaid and complained, "Oh Titan, she would do everything in her power to meet the mermaid and get the scales so she could use them in her spells or jewelry."
"Wow, mermaids are really taken advantage of." Luz said, looking a bit scared.
"They are, but that's what makes the law so fair with them." Amity said placing a hand of Luz's
Just then the bell rang signaling the end of lunch, as they all left the room Luz remembered about what she said to Kate about being rejected and stopped Amity right before she left the cafeteria.
"Something wrong Luz?" Amity asked.
"Come by the edge of the forest where the grom tree is, I have something I want to tell you." Luz quickly said ran off.
Amity stood there frozen for a moment till Emira & Edric walked up behind her.
"Looks like someone might have a new girlfriend at the end of the day." Em said watching Luz speed walk away.
"I highly doubt that's what is going to happen Em." Amity quickly said back, getting annoyed. "And don't even open your mouth Ed." Edric continued to smirk, knowing that Amity couldn't say that they were wrong. "I'm going to class, like you two should be doing."
"You think we should help her out?" Ed suggested as their little sister walked away.
"Not this time." Em said walking past. "We might be older than Amity, but our own love lives haven't been the best pulse knowing mom, if she thinks we're up to something she'll look into it." Edric's face became sour at the mention of their mother. "Luz is a sweet kid and has a powerful guardian but mom is still too well connected. It's best to let things play out as they should this time, plus if they get together then we'll help hide the secret from mom."
"You got it." Ed agreed. "So, you want to go to class or should we send some clones."
"Can't, the last ones got caught and it turns out we aren't the only ones that do that so they're checking all the students to make sure they're in class." Em said as they walked to the classroom.
Once the school day was done Amity made her way to the grom tree, as she did her mind kept racing to what it was the Luz wanted to talk to her about. As she got closer to the grom tree she saw that Luz was drawing something in the sand.
"It must be a new glyph combo." Amity thought to herself feeling a bit sadder. "Maybe she wanted to show me that she finally found one for abomination magic."
"Oh Amity, you're here." Luz said, noticing Amity walking closer.
"Yeah, so I'm guessing you wanted to show me a new glyph combination." Amity said, looking at the markings in the sand.
"Oh no, this is just going to help me out with something else." Luz said, tapping the glyph, the next thing to appear was an ice pillar that was hallowed out in the center that went to Luz's waist. "Could you feel this with water by chance?"
"Sure, I guess." Amity said, putting her books down and creating a thing of water to fill the hole in the ice.
"Okay then I guess you're wondering why I called you out here." Luz said, rubbing the back of her head. "And fill this thing with water." Amity nodded her head a little curious as to why Luz did all this. "Okay well first things first I guess I start with this." Luz handed Amity a piece of paper. "I found that one day when I was on my way home." Amity immediately recognized the paper as the other half of her letter asking Luz to grom. "If you had given it to me, I would have said yes you know." Amity looked at Luz as if she said the strangest thing in the world.
"What?" Amity said softly no louder than a whisper.
Luz Smiled then asked, "Do you, Amity Blight, want to be my girlfriend? And before you answer there is something else, I have to tell you." Luz then took her shoes off and jumped into the water that they created. Amity's eyes went wide as Luz resurfaced and had fish-like ears, webbed hands, along with gills that were closed at the moment. "Is there a chance you'd still date me knowing I'm half mermaid."
"You're beautiful." Amity muttered after a while.
Luz began to blush as she moved a stand of hair out of the way then said, "Thank you, so do I meet your expectations when it comes to mermaids."
"Yes, and more than that." Amity said, looking away while her face became a bit red.
"You mind helping me out of this by the way, I kind of need help." Luz said, lifting her tail up.
"Oh of course." Amity quickly said, quickly summoning an abomination. After helping Luz out of the water Luz gained her legs back then used a few glyphs to get rid of the evidence.
"So can I have your answer?" Luz asked, blushing like mad.
"Yes!" Amity quickly responded a bit louder than she wanted.
"Then I guess this makes us a couple." Luz said, reaching her hand out.
"Guess it does." Amity said, taking Luz's hand.
"Come on, I could use your help with my research on mermaids." Luz said as they walked away from the grom tree. "My mother didn't really want me to deal with the problems that came with it but now that I'm in the Boiling Isle I kind of need the information. Especially with a group of pirates after me."
"Sure, Luz I'd love to help you." Amity said as they continued walking, she then released Luz's hand and her eyes grew wide. "Pirate, what're you talking about!"
Unknown to either of the girls a figure was lucking in the shadows watching them like a predator stalking its prey.
