Here's yet another story I haven't worked on in very long time. Hey, everyone! I know this is kinda late, but welcome to the long awaited 4th chapter of my Lion King and Attack on Titan crossover, Titan of the Savannah. Sorry for the long long wait, everybody. I was both working on a couple other stories and I was battling depression and self doubt. I didn't mean to keep this story in limbo for so long. But now that I'm updating my stories, I hope y'all enjoy this chapter. This, in my opinion, is where things get interesting. Now this chapter might be a bit short but, hey, who knows. Now without an further delay, let's get this chapter started. Enjoy. Disclaimer: I DO NOT own The Lion King or Attack on Titan. All rights go to their respective owners.
Chapter 4: Cub in a Snare
The sun rose high in the sky over the Elephant Graveyard. Inside a cave, the three hyenas know as Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed were sleeping peacefully. Sleeping on the other side of the was a human. Shenzi's childhood friend, Annie Leonhardt. When the sunshine entered the cave, the hyenas woke up, stretched and yawned. Shenzi turned to the other two hyenas.
"Morning, guys." She said.
"Good morning to you too, Shenz." Said Banzai.
Shenzi turned to her left and saw that Annie was still asleep. The trio walked over to their friend. Shenzi could only smile as she saw hwr friend sleeping peacefully. Probably dreaming about the good times the two had together.
"She looks so peaceful. Almost makes me not want to wake her up." Shenzi said, honestly.
"Yeah, I know. But... just how are we gonna get her up anyway?" Asked Banzai.
Ed then walked towards Annie. When he was close enough, he started licking Annie's face causing her to stir awake. She was also laughing.
"Okay, okay, okay, okay, I'm awake. Ed, alright." She said as she sat up.
She petted Ed's head. She then turned to see Shenzi and Banzai.
"Morning, guys. How's it going?" She greeted.
"So far, so good, kid." Said Banzai.
Annie stood up and stretched. She started walking with the others following her.
"Rise and shine, everybody. It's time to go get breakfast." She said.
Shenzi giggled.
"Hey, Annie. You took my line." She said.
The girl looked at her slyly.
"Oh, it's your line now? Huh?" She said, playfully.
Banzai and Ed both giggled as well. Shenzi just smiled sheepishly.
"Well... uh... I'm not claiming ownership of it, I'm just saying... well... you know. Heh heh." She said.
Annie and the hyenas laughed at their joke. A while later, they were in a field that was between the Elephant Graveyard and the Pridelands. It had tall but short grass and was a well known spot where animals come for food. From the distance, the four friends could see three gazelles grazing on some of the grass as well as drinking water from the lake. They did their best to keep quiet as to not let the gazelles see them. One slip up and their breakfast would be gone. After a minute of silence, Annie spoke.
"Hey, Shenzi." She whispered.
"Yeah?" Shenzi whispered back.
"I know you're the leader and I'm not trying to steal your position or anything, but do you think I can give the signal this time?"
Shenzi smirked.
"Heh. You go, girl."
Annie smirked back and got her belt and blades ready. After a few seconds, Annie give the signal.
"Now!"
In an instant, the girl and the hyenas took off in separate directions; the hyenas on the right and Annie on the left. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed managed to take down the first and second gazelles. However, the last one saw them and ran away. Suddenly, Annie appeared in front of him and with one swift kick, made the gazelle lose his footing and fall to the ground. When he did, Annie took out her blades and decapitated the gazelle. The four friends looked in pride at how their hunt was successful.
"Yeah! Woo! We sure as hell got us a great breakfast. Right, guys?" Banzai asked.
Ed laughed and nodded.
"You can say that again, Banzai." Said Annie.
Shenzi chuckled.
"Yeah. Our hunt sure was successful. Now all we have to do is get these carcasses back to the Elephant Graveyard so Annie can cook em and we can chow down." She said.
Annie put a hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Way ahead of you, Shenzi. Besides, what are best friends for?"
"Ya got that right."
Just then, they heard a strange sound. It sounded like choking. Like a child choking. The group looked around for the source of the sound. They then noticed that the sound was getting louder and louder. They looked around until Annie found it was coming from the tall grass.
"The sound's coming from over there." Annie said, "Come on. We better find out who it is and help them before it's too late. Follow me."
She started to move, but then she noticed that the hyenas were not following here.
"Well, what are you guys waiting for? Let's go!" She shouted.
Shenzi nodded and turned to Banzai and Ed.
"You heard the girl, move it!" She ordered.
In an instant the group took off running. They ran as fast as they could to the sound of the choking creature. Finally, they were real close. But to the hyenas' confusion, they didn't see anybody. Yet they still heard the choking.
"That's funny. We still hear the choking noise, but there's nobody here." Shenzi said, scratching her head.
When they heard the choking again, they looked down and saw it was a lion cub caught in a snare. Annie gasped and crouched down to get a good look at the cub. Not only was the cub choking, but he was coughing up a little blood. Knowing this, Annie turned to her friends with a serious look.
"We have to help this cub." She told them.
"What?" Shenzi and Banzai said in unison.
"If we don't help him, he's going to die! Do you really want a cub's blood on your paws? I know that hyenas and lions don't exactly get along, but we have to put that aside right now. Now help me, damn it!" Ordered Annie.
Knowing they couldn't argue, they went over to the snare. Shenzi and Banzai started digging to get it out of the ground while Ed was trying to comfort the cub who was crying and still choking. Finally, the two hyenas got the snare out of the ground just in time which loosened the snare's grip on the cub's throat. Once he got out of the snare, the cub coughed and gasped for breath. Knowing how scared the cub was, Annie picked him up and held him close. This surprised the hyena trio beyond belief. Especially Shenzi.
"I just don't get it. Why the hell would she help a lion of all animals. Let alone a cub. I don't know if her heart's in the right place or she's out of her mind." She thought.
The cub was bawling his eyes out while Annie held him close, trying to calm him down.
"Shhhh. It's okay, little guy. You're safe now. No one's going to hurt you." She promised.
Finally the cub calmed down and looked up at Annie.
"A-Are you s-sure?" He asked, still a little shook up.
Annie nodded with a small smile.
"Positive."
Annie gently put the cub on the ground as he smiled at his saviors and thanked them.
"I didn't know there were good humans. Or good hyenas for that matter. I'm kinda surprised to be honest." He said.
Banzai chuckled.
"Ya learn something new everyday, kiddo." He said.
They all laughed.
"What are your names? My name's Ade." The cub said.
"My name's Annie. Annie Leonhardt. And these three hyenas are my best friend, Shenzi and her two friends, Banzai and Ed. It's a good thing we heard you and arrived just in time." She told him.
"Yeah. Otherwise, I would've been a goner." Said Ade.
Just then, they all heard voices and they were calling Ade's name. The voices were both male and female.
"Ade! Ade! Ade, where are you?" The male voice called.
"Where are you, baby?" Called the female voice.
The cub realized that they were his parents and said he had to go. Annie told him to be careful. He turned and started to run, but not before glancing at the four.
"Thanks for saving me guys. You're real heroes. I'll be sure to put in a good word for you." He told them.
He then turned forward and continued running towards his parents' voices. There was a few seconds of silence until Shenzi spoke. She had a small smile on her face.
"You wanna know something, Banzai?"
"Yeah, what?"
"Even though I kinda hate to admit it, that was one nice and grateful cub. I never thought I'd say this, but I guess not all lions are bad." She said.
"Just like not all hyenas are bad." Said Banzai.
"And not all humans are bad." Annie added.
"Uh-huh." Ed said as he nodded.
Shenzi turned and started walking. She stopped and glanced at the others. She jerked her head forward.
"C'mon, guys. Let's go get our breakfast and head back to the graveyard before we're seen." She told them.
They all nodded and began to follow their friend. Meanwhile, Ade was racing to his parents as he heard their voices. The two lions were looking worriedly for their son, but there was no luck.
"What are we going to do, Kiara? He could be anywhere. Hopefully he's not too lost." The male said.
"I hope so too, Kovu. But don't worry. We will find him. We just have to keep looking." Said the lioness called Kiara.
Just then, they heard a voice calling them. It was a little kid's voice. They instantly knew who it was as he popped out of the grass. They ran towards their son. When they got close, they nuzzled him.
"Oh, Ade. Where have you been? We were worried sick. We told you if you wandered off this kind of thing would happen." Kiara told him gently but firmly.
"I'm sorry for wandering off. I promise I'll never do it again. Ever." Ade apologized.
Kovu gently put a paw on his son's head causing him to look up at him.
"It's alright, son. We're just glad you're safe and that's all that matters. Now, let's get back to Pride Rock. We don't want your grandparents to get too worried." He said.
They started walking home. Ade spoke up.
"Mom, Dad, you wouldn't believe what happened. I walking through the grass until I got caught in a snare and was beginning to choke to death. I thought I was done for, but then a human girl and three hyenas saved me." He told them.
Kovu and Kiara were shocked beyond belief. A human and hyenas helping a lion, let alone a lion cub? That was really unheard of. The glanced at Ade.
"Hmm. Now that's a new one. I've never heard of hyenas helping a lion cub before. What were their names? Just curious." Kovu asked.
The hyenas' names were Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. The human was a female and her name was Annie Leonhardt. I know humans and hyenas are usually enemies of lions, but maybe, just maybe, they're not all bad." Said Ade.
Kovu and Kiara looked at each other.
"Kovu."
"Yeah, Kiara?"
"Call me crazy, but I'm starting to think that maybe Daddy has humans and hyenas figured wrong. Either way, we have to tell him the good news." Kiara told her husband.
Kovu nodded.
"You took the words out of my mouth, Kiara." He said.
Kiara giggled at that statement. They just knew they going to have one heck of a story to tell when they got back to Pride Rock.
