Chapter 4: Walters' Friend:

Sonic's POV:

We searched the place for the Black Emerald, but we haven't found it.

"Maybe it's not even here," says Tails.

"Well, well," says Walters, "still trying to save this place? Well, you're wasting time! Thanks to my friend, I will have this place!"

"You mean the ghost," I asked.

"What ghost, I meant the deed to this land," says Walters, "however, it says that I can only have this land back if I had the Black Emerald."

"Shouldn't the deed be enough," asks Tails.

"I know, but this is an odd town," says Walters, "I mean, you are all living here!"

"Fair point," I said, "but we will find it before you can get it!"

"We'll see about that," says Walters.

He then left.

. . .

"Okay, so maybe he's not connected to the ghost," says Vector.

"But what about the keychain," asks Charmy.

"Not everything is as it seems," says Espio.

"So, does that mean he's innocent or guilty," asks Vector.

"He seems to be guilty, but he also seems to be innocent," says Espio, "they are both possibilities."

"That's not helping," says Amy.

"I just remembered something," says Mrs. Dickens, "there is a room that remains locked!"

"The Black Emerald could be in there," I said.

. . .

We then arrived at that room. "Knuckles, you know what to do," I said.

"I'm just glad Mrs. Dickens gave us permission to do this," says Knuckles. He then breaks the door down.

. . .

We then searched the room.

"It sure is creepy," says Amy.

There was a chill in the air. Then the ghost appears. She tried to attack us, but we got out of the way. I then looked at a painting. It was Walters' great-grandfather! He sure looks like Walters. The ghost then got away.

"I searched the place," says Espio, "there is no black emerald."

"I guess it's not here," I said, "let's get back."

To Be Continued
