Aizawa, Endeavour, Midoryia, and Ida made their way into the clubhouse just as Hiccup dumped the oatmeal into the pot.
"Oh, hey. Good morning," Hiccup said, "I didn't wake you up, did I?"
"No! Not at all!" Midoryia said.
"We're early risers," Ida said.
Endeavour huffed, seemling disappointed. Aizawa just shot him a glance that Endeavour either didn't notice or pointedly ignored.
"The oatmeal should be ready in a few minutes."
"There is no rush!" Ida said, "Can we be of assistance?"
"Um, yeah. There are some extra bowls over there in that cupboard," Hiccup said gesturing to the other side of the room, "They haven't been used in a while and need to be cleaned out."
"We're on it!" Ida said as he and Midoriya went to grab the bowls.
"There still won't be enough for everyone."
"That's not a problem," Aizawa said.
"The twins are probably hoarding some bowls in their hut," Snotlout said with a lot of annoyance in his voice, "They hoard everything."
"We can ask them when they come out," Hiccup said, already done with Snotlout for the day, "How are the nets?"
"They're in worse shape than I thought. It's gonna take a while before they're in working condition."
Toothless came up to Hiccup and warbled, he was hungry.
"I know, bud," Hiccup said. He sighed and turned to Aizawa, "Would you be able to finish the oatmeal? I need to go get some fish for the dragons."
"Of course," Aizawa said, taking the wooden spoon from Hiccup. Aizawa could see the stress radiation from Hiccup. He did a good job at disguising it as nervousness but Aizawa had been around enough teenagers to notice the difference.
Hiccup and Toothless squeezed out the door and passed the judgmental eyes of Endeavour.
"Can I join you?" Snotlout asked.
"The nets won't finish themselves."
Snotlout groaned and went back to fixing the nets.
Hiccup and Toothless took to the sky; the wind in their faces instantly relieved all the stress in their lives.
The pair of them flew in a few simple moves, taking everything out on the skies.
Unbenounced to either of them Endeavour was watching them with a scrutinising eye, analyzing their moves. He didn't like their lack of urgency, you cannot catch fish from the sky, there are things to be done and not even everyone is awake.
He watched as Hiccup and Toothless entered a nose dive and pulled out just before they hit the water. Endeavour would have been impressed if he didn't hear the whoops of joy coming from Hiccup. It just reeks of immaturity, something that strong leaders should not have. He needed to find who was really in charge here.
Bakugo had had enough. He tried to sneak out of the twins hut so as to not wake them, but the twins were a different breed.
They were up way before Bakugo was and they were full of energy and not the good kind. They were showing him all of this weird stuff that they had collected. Everytime Bakugo made a move to the door one of the twins pulled him back. He shouted at them but the twins mistook it as enthusiasm. He started to make small explosions to ward them off but they didn't notice or didn't care.
He was finally saved when Fishlegs knocked on the door then let himself in; "Good morning! Can you two see if Hiccup needs any help in the Clubhouse? We are going to check on the dragons."
Bakugo wasted no time in getting out that door.
"You looked like you just escaped a prison," Tokoyami said.
"Shut up!"
"Yeah, were you trapped or something?" Todoroki said.
"I said shut up, Icy-hot!"
"Sorry," Fishlegs said, "the twins can be a bit much."
"That's an understatement," Bakugo muttered under his breath. He stormed off to the clubhouse before the twins could force him inside their hut.
"Where did Snotlout go?" Tuffnut said as the pair came out of the hut.
"You two need to take it easy on him," Fishlegs said.
"But we were!" Tuff said.
"Yeah! We didn't even get to show him how to turn the stuffed yak inside out," Ruff said
"Your stuffed yak can turn inside out?" Todoroki said.
"Yeah, it's pretty cool!"
Fishlegs just sighed, "We got to go wake up the dragons, you two can go see if they need any help in the clubhouse." Fishlegs turned to head off to the stables with three 1-A students behind him.
Once they were out of earshot of the twins Tokoyami spoke up, "They seem to be quite a handful."
"Yeah, they like to march to the beat of their own drum but they know when to step up, sometimes. I'm pretty sure they're just happy to have someone stay with them."
"I guess it doesn't happen often then."
"I guess. Whenever Heather comes she stays with Astrid. And whenever Stoick and Spitelout come they stay with Hiccup and Snotlout. And whenever Gothi comes she stays with me. I suppose the twins do feel a bit left out. I never really thought about it before."
"Is Spitelout Snotouts brother or something?" Todoroki asked.
"Spitelout is Snotlout's father… He's a bit of a handful."
"More than the twins?"
"Well…" Fishlegs was saved from answering that question when Hiccup and Toothless landed.
"Good morning! I've got breakfast for the dragons," Hiccup said before Toothless dropped a bunch of fish from his mouth and Hiccup dropped the two he had caught.
"Thanks!" Fishlegs said, "Were you testing out the nets?"
"No, Snotlout is still working on them, unless he fell back asleep. Anyway, I gotta get back to the clubhouse before it burns down."
With that Hiccup and Toothless flew back over to the clubhouse.
"He seems stressed out," Todoroki said, "It's not healthy."
"He is always worried about something," Fishlegs said. But Fishlegs knew that Hiccup was way more stressed than usual.
Momo, Mina, and Tsuyu woke up to find both Atrisd and Uraraka gone.
"Uraraka wasn't kidding when she said that she wanted to train hard," Tsuyu said.
Mina yawned, "It's too early to train. I need my beauty sleep."
"We should go see if they need help with breakfast," Momo said, tying her hair back, "As unexpected guests we should help as much as we can."
After some more groaning from Mina the girls made their way to the clubhouse.
"Kachan you need to calm down!" Midoriya said standing between Bakugo and Snotlout.
"I'm perfectly calm," Bakugo said, setting off a few explosions in his palms, "Snot-face here is the problem."
"You don't get to disrespect the Jorgenson clan like that!" Snotlout shouted, cracking his knuckles.
Aizawa wordlessly handed the wooden spoon to Iida. He grabbed his capture scarf and stared the two boys down; "That's enough," He said calmly while activating his quirk.
The two boys looked at Aizawa, "There is a time and place for your immaturity. This is neither."
"I'm not immature," Snotlout muttered.
"And," Aizawa said, deactivating his quirk, "I haven't had my morning coffee yet."
All of 1-A sighed while Snotlout just looked confused.
"The oatmeal looks ready, everyone!" Iida said, "There are a limited number of bowls so eat quickly then wash your bowl for the next person to use!"
"Iida will always be Iida," Deku muttered. Iida choppy arms and leading style were the only normal thing right now, and the class appreciated it more that they let on.
"What happened?" Mina asked Kaminari.
"I wasn't paying the best attention when Bakugo walked in, but he said to Snotlout something that he weaves like a girl and that set him off. It got worse from there."
"What's gotten into Bakugo," Krishima said, "He's been more angry than usual."
"I dunno," Kirishima said.
Hiccup had walked into the clubhouse and overheard Mina and Kamniari's conversation. He sighed, he didn't know what to do with Snotlout but he wasn't the instigator. But that was a problem for later. He found Aizawa leaning on the wall watching Bakugo like a hawk.
"Hi, Aizawa," Hiccup said, keeping his voice low, "Can we talk outside for a minute?"
Aizawa looked at Hiccup. He thought that he wanted to talk about Bakugo but that didn't feel right, there was something in Hiccup's eyes that put Aizawa on edge. Aizawa wordlessly followed Hiccup outside. He made sure to glance at Endeavour, hoping to get him to keep the peace.
Hiccup led him outside and around a bend to get away from the clubhouse entrance. They were greeted by Astrid and Uraraka.
"Astrid, can you tell him what you just told me?" Hiccup said.
"Uraraka, Stormfly, and I were on patrol this morning where we found the remains of a man made fire near the shore on the opposite side of the island. Is there anyone else that could have come with you?"
Aizawa thought for a moment, "Everyone that was in the common room at the time have been accounted for… except for the villain," Aizawa inwardly facepalmed, how had he not realised that the villain could have come here himself.
"That's the same conclusion that you two came up with," Hiccup said, looking at the girls.
"Yeah, there was barely any trace of him," Astrid said, "Only the fire. Stormfly tried to track his scent but it just led to the sea. We flew out but found no trace of a boat, or anything."
"Does this mean the villain has an accomplice in your time?" Uraraka said.
"That's the best explanation I can think of," Hiccup said.
"Who would do that?" Astrid said, "Could it be Viggo? But how would he manage something like that?"
"Maybe it's someone from our time already here?" Uraraka said.
"Either way there are more important things to worry about," Hiccup said.
Aizawa looked ready to challenge Hiccup, finding the villain responsible for this was high on his list of priorities.
"We need to be able to sustain the island," Hiccup finished.
Aizawa nodded in agreement, this kid had his head on straight.
Fishlegs, Kota, Tokoyami, and Todoroki made their way to the clubhouse.
"It sounds like everyone else is already there," Fishlegs said.
Todoroki almost groaned, he did not want to encounter his father this morning, he almost wished he was stuck here with Dabi instead of Endeavour.
He tried to slip into the clubhouse behind Fishlegs but Endeavour was standing by the door.
Endeavour glared at Shoto with a look of disapproval; "Last to rise, I see."
Shoto glared back, trying to figure out if Endeavour deserved a response but Fishlegs cut in; "We were feeding the dragons, that's why we were late. We were already working."
Shoto looked at Fishlegs, then back at Endeavour, who did not look pleased, "That's right, I was already working."
Endeavour huffed, he was about to retort when Iida interrupted; "Good morning! We have washed out enough bowls for you to have your breakfast!" Then Iida thrusted bowls into their hands.
"Looks like we're not the only ones who have been busy this morning," Tokoyami said to no one in particular.
"Yeah," Tsuyu said coming up to them, "Snotlout has been fixing the fishing nets, Astrid and Uraraka went on patrol-"
"I wish we got to go!" Mina said, "It's not fair that Uraraka got to train ahead!"
"If you woke up just as early then we would have been able to take you," Astrid said.
"Wait, you got to fly on a dragon?" Deku said, "What was that like?"
"It was pretty awesome," Uraraka said, trying to hide a blush.
"Okay everyone, listen up," Aizawa said, "Hiccup and the Dragon Riders have done a lot for us by letting us stay here. I expect all of you to help out where you are told as there is a lot of stuff that needs to get done."
"Of course!" Iida said.
"We will help out any way we can," Momo said.
Hiccup looked out a bunch of determined faces, he could work with this; "As your teacher was saying, there is a lot of stuff we need to do to sustain Dragons Edge. The Edge is not meant to sustain this many people so we need your help to gather enough resources to sustain us and the dragons. We will be assigning you all different tasks so that we can all still train in the afternoons."
"I see," Iida said, "So it is just like having school in the mornings then hero course work in the afternoons. This should be no problem for us! What needs to get done?"
Hiccup smiled, if only everyone was this enthusiastic about chores.
