Survival

Chapter Seven

Doctor Mendez had finished drinking his water, while Captain Richter told the security officer to leave. He wasn't all that happy with the order to leave for now.

He was speaking in Russian to his captain. "Captain, I will be right outside. Just give me the order to come in after you're done." He tells him to walk outside with the Captain making sure the door is closed.

"Captain, what do you want from me after all of the brutal abuse of myself and my wife and personnel on the diving bell?" Doctor Mendez cried out with his response.

"WHAT I WANT DOCTOR IS COOPERATION FROM EVERYONE?" he remarked, sitting in the chair next to his prisoner.

Turning with a deep breath. "We have given all of the cooperation you're going to be getting Captain Richter." He tells him with a slight lump in his throat.

"Well! In this case Doctor, you're going to get more of the same treatment until you're ready to give in." Richter screamed out at the doctor before getting up from his brown chair and entering the room.

The security officer was given the order to lock the door while leaving the doctor alone for now to sleep. Meanwhile, the Captain was tired himself needing to head for his quarters. However, he will call from his quarters while asking for the Siberian Tiger's location.

CAVERN

Kowalski had been watching Chief Sharkey sleep for the last four hours. There had been nothing going on except he was feeling the need to eat and relieve himself.

After his duties along with washing his hands in the cool waters for which they had come up after leaving the flying sub damaged from the laser. He then walked over to Sharkey to wake the older up from his sleep. It was now his time to keep watch while eating what supplies they had brought along with them.

"Do you want any protein bars to eat?" Kowalski had to ask the question.

"Not a chance Kowalski! I am going to try the old-fashioned way of catching a fish with my hands and other supplies for my dinner and a possible chance yours as well my friend," he smirked back at Kowalski settling down.

"Are you kidding Sharkey?" Kowalski shook his head in disbelief.

"Yes, of course, I am not kidding. We need to eat until the Seaview finally finds us." Kowalski needed to start heading for the bank of the waters to begin his luck with the fishing. While Sharkey went to sleep after finishing the last of his protein bars.

It was almost two hours later Sharkey beginning to wake up from his sleep smiling something delicious. "What the hell is going on?" he says under his breath when he sees Kowalski and a fire that is roaring. He must have used his survival training to start the fire along with having caught three fish. He wasn't sure what type of fish. But he was hungry for the most part.

Moving up from his position to check on Kowalski and his cooking. "What are those Kowalski?" he tells him with a half-baked smile.

"The word is dinner Sharkey! Come and eat since the fish are plentiful for the moment," he says calmly taking a bite of the golden baked fish in his makeshift plate as part of his survival kit. "Tastes good to fill the belly," he remarked with a smile.

Sitting down on the damp ground of the cavern. Using what he had to use with eating the hot fish on the wood he found and started the fire with a fuel that he was carrying on him. Sharkey was beginning to like the taste of the strange-looking fish as his belly had been feeling better.

Both Seaview men were beginning to wonder whether they were going to be rescued at all. Each of the men continued with the fish eating with just a small leftover.

Once they had finished up with the cleaning. Sharkey was going to head back to sleep before taking over once again. This time he didn't have to feel and hear his stomach rumbling on him.

Three days later the Seaview ran most of the time at flank speed. Admiral Nelson and Sparks had received one more coded message from the Siberian Tiger telling the Kremlin that Doctor Mendez had given up entirely to the Russians after breaking from the harsh treatment.

Sparks was able to break the code easily by sending the message by courier to Admiral Nelson's quarters with Captain Crane having to be asked to come as well since he was inside the Control Room.

There was a loud knock on Nelson's door when he asked the courier to come in with the coded message. The coded message was being held by the sonar man Ron abroad at the Seaview for ten years.

"Thanks," Nelson says closely the door as Crane had been sitting in the brown chair in front of Nelson's desk sitting on the edge like always.

Opening up the envelope. Admiral Nelson wasn't all too happy with reading the coded message. Mostly upset at the fact that Doctor Mendez and his personnel had given up entirely to the Russians.

He will hand the message to Lee Crane to read it as well upset at the doctor for giving up so quickly. "Why do you think Admiral that he and everyone had given up?" he asked sitting back further on the desk with his legs hanging over.

Admiral Nelson didn't know what to say to his friend and Captain with the captain. "The only thing we can do now is speak with the State Department to ask for a prisoner exchange for now, while we search for Sharkey and Kowalski along with the flying sub. I will get Sparks to call the State Department and the President of the United States, while you have your personnel in the Control Room to continue looking for them," he tells Lee Crane with sadness showing on his face.
