Quick Flight
It was a lovely day in Enchancia, and the kingdom's two princesses were outside with their friends. Ruby and Jade had shown up to visit Sofia just before Hildegard and Clio had arrived to see Amber. Amber had suggested that the six of them spend some time together, and everyone had agreed. They were currently having tea in a gazebo on the castle grounds near the royal sorcerer's tower.
Sofia smiled as Ruby and Jade laughed at a story Hildegard was telling. It had been ten years since the sleepover that had almost ended in disaster, and despite being commoners, her village friends got along well with Hildegard and Clio, something that always made the auburn haired girl happy.
Suddenly, a movement caught her attention, and she glanced up toward Cedric's tower. The sorcerer had just thrown his window open and was just standing there looking out. He didn't seem to notice the girls, and Sofia found herself staring up at him. He looked so handsome, so magical… She had the sudden yearning to kiss him. But would it be rude to leave Amber and the others to visit him?
"Look what I brought," Amber announced, holding up something to show the others.
Sofia watched in amusement as her friends left their seats and gathered around the blonde. She gasped softly when she noticed some hummingbirds whizzing around some nearby flowers. An idea formed in her mind. She glanced toward her sister and their friends to be sure they weren't looking before grasping her amulet and whispering while watching the tiny birds, "I wish to be a bird."
…
Cedric stood at his window, breathing in the fresh air after working on several potions. It was such a nice day, and he considered taking a walk. Perhaps he could ask Sofia to join him.
Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a lavender hummingbird appeared in front of his face, startling him a bit. But he didn't get a chance to react as the tiny creature moved closer, pressing its beak to his lips. Then, just as suddenly as it appeared, it whizzed away in a light purple blur.
A knowing smile tugged at the sorcerer's lips. "That clever girl…"
…
"I wish to be myself again," Sofia whispered, perching on her seat in the gazebo. She felt giddy with happiness. She had managed to sneak off to see her sorcerer unnoticed, and—
"Welcome back, Sofia."
She blinked when she saw five smirking faces turned toward her. "W–What? But… I didn't go anywhere," she tried to say.
"She's a terrible liar," Jade said, snickering.
"If you didn't go anywhere, what were we just talking about?" Amber asked with a raised eyebrow.
Sofia blushed darkly. "Uh…"
"Forget it, Amber," Hildegard huffed. "She was too busy flitting about as a hummingbird."
Ruby happened to look up toward a now empty window in a certain tower. "Ooh! I think I know where she went."
Everyone followed her gaze and looked back at a heavily blushing Sofia.
"She went to see Cedric," Clio stated the obvious. "She's got it bad."
Sofia sighed as the other girls giggled. Apparently, she hadn't gotten away with sneaking off to kiss Cedric.
A/N: LOL! I actually came up with this while I was still working on my other Flight story. It was too good to pass up, even if it's short.
