The three staff members promised Layla that they would give the keys to the firstborn child of the Heartfilia family. Unfortunately, Lucy, born three years later, would be the only child. This point in time, unknown to everyone in the Heartfilia Konzern would lead Lucy to an unforgettable adventure…
Summary: AU: What if Lisanna Never Died/Got Sucked up in the Anima and Natsu went with Lisanna, Elfman, and Mirajane on that S-Class Mission. Lisanna may be alive, but both her and Natsu were severely weakened by a certain incident in year X782. Also, what if Lucy left a year earlier than she did in Canon. After receiving a book from her parents on her seventh birthday that will help her with magic, Lucy not only became a Celestial Wizard, but a Star Make Wizard as well. A different story that also includes Canon Events is about to begin. Covering every arc except for Daphne. Edolas will still be included. Starts off in the year X784.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail, never have and never will. I am only writing this what if for enjoyment and honor of a great Anime/Manga Series. Hiro Mashima owns all the characters except for certain OC's I may add. Some will be mine, others will belong to friends of mine.

Prologue: x774-x784: Celestial Stars Awaken!
In the port town of Hargeon, a young lady with brown eyes, blond hair that reaches down to just below her shoulders with her hair put up into a right side ponytail with a pink hair tie and the rest of her hair hanging loose is looking out at the port of Hargeon taking in the view. She is wearing a white vest zipped up all the way to the top with a blue cross on it. She also has a brown whip with a heart-shaped end on her left side attached to a belt. On her right is a pouch of keys, but not just any keys, these are gate keys, three golden keys, and three silver keys. These six keys are special, well the golden ones are because they open gates to the Celestial Spirit World and summon Zodiac spirits. The brown belt also holds up a short blue skirt that goes down to her mid-thighs. On her feet she is wearing brown, high-healed, knee-high boots. She blows a strand of hair out of her eyes as she manipulates what looks like a golden light from her fingertips.
My name is Lucy, I'm seventeen years old. This is my first time in Hargeon. I'm here searching for a magic shop and possibly some powerful gate keys. That's right, I'm a celestial wizard. However, Celestial Magic is not the only magic I utilize, but it is my best magic. Ever since I was seven, I've been trying not only to master Celestial Magic, but a type of caster magic that I have been self-teaching myself for several years now. I can do a few small spells at the moment, but I'm still not ready to use it in combat. At least not at the moment, perhaps that will change soon. Has it really been seven years since my Mom died, and two years since I left home? I can't believe it. Time sure flies. Let's recount what my magical journey has entailed so far.
The year was x774, I had just celebrated my seventh birthday…
A younger Lucy by about ten years is sitting in her room after she received a precious gift from her parents. It is a special magic book. She's wearing her favorite pink and white dress that her mommy and daddy had given her the previous year on her sixth birthday. Her golden blond hair is in the same hairstyle as her future self. The unmistakable right side ponytail held up by a pink scrunchie. The rest of her hair is also hanging loose just below her shoulder blades. The book is golden in color with elegant writing on the cover. It's a caster magic book. The title on the cover was elegantly handwritten in her mom's handwriting. It was entitled: Caster Magic Special Edition: Star Make.
Opening the cover, Lucy gasped in shock at a handwritten note from both of her loving parents. She has two Golden Keys on the desk next to her. One that the top of the key is engraved with a maroon yin-yang symbol that resembles the number "69" and the other engraved with a blue symbol that looks like waves on top of each other.
Dear Lucky Lucy,
For you on your seventh birthday our dear daughter. While we are tickled pink that you decided to pursue Celestial Magic like your mother, we think it's very important for you to dabble in another type of magic. This is a Caster Magic. It's the perfect fit for you. Not only does it match your golden blond hair, but it is also the perfect companion to your Celestial Magic. This particular caster magic is known as Star Make. It's going to take a lot of practice, but you can't neglect your Celestial Magic either. Perhaps, your Celestial Spirits can help you learn to use your Star Make Magic efficiently. Be warned our dear daughter, Star Make Magic is no joke it's going to be hard to even create the simplest of spells. However with your active imagination, we do believe that you will excel at Celestial Magic and Star Make Magic eventually and with purpose and determination. Never stop being your wonderful self.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy.
At that time, I didn't know that studying magic for the first time that day would eventually lead to an awesome adventure all of my own.
"Mommy and Daddy really went out for my birthday this time. I am so happy."
Lucy looked at her doll and smiled at it, "Gonzales, we are going to be so happy together. I know Mommy and Daddy are busy lately, but eventually I will sit down and have a nice birthday dinner with them. Come on, let's head out to the courtyard and start practicing!"
I went out to the courtyard that day and started reading my book with purpose. I tried various basic spells, but I still couldn't get them. At first I thought I saw a golden spark come from my hand. I did, but it quickly faded. I then turned to the two keys I was given for doing well in school. However, they were just on loan. Mommy had retired as a wizard three years before I was born. However, she still had access to them since the staff members that were keeping the keys warm for me were still employed by Mommy and Daddy. Naturally that meant that I could only use them occasionally because I wasn't ready to wield them regularly yet. Ever since I got that book, I've been studying it whenever I had free time away from Mama and Papa as well as the staff. I knew eventually the keys of Cancer and Aquarius would be mine as well as Capricorn's key. I wasn't in any hurry. I was just happy to be with Mama and Papa.
I focused my power into my hand and one of the keys glowed. I almost summoned my first spirit that day, but it all failed. How was I going to learn magic, if I could barely even create a spark from my hands. Both Star Make and Celestial Magic were going to be hard for me to perfect, but I was never going to give up.
I continued to go out to the courtyard everyday to practice my magic. It was so hard! I just couldn't get it. Why was this happening? Mommy could do magic so why couldn't I do magic? I decided to take a break and go see my Mommy with her two keys and my special book in my hand. I also have tears streaming down my face.
"Mommy, Mommy help me! I can't get just this magic thing down! Please help me!"
Seeing me run into the living room, Mommy gasped, "what's wrong Lucy dear? Why are you crying?"
Mommy was a very beautiful and elegant woman. She always had her hair up in a bun and always wore the same dress. I'm sure she had other clothes, but most of them were probably copies of the pink dress she was wearing. Mommy always wearing pink is a chief reason why I like pink so much.
"Mommy, I can't seem to do any of this magic stuff right! What if I never learn to do magic and join a magical guild when I grow up? My dream will be shattered. I want to grow up and be an awesome beautiful Celestial Wizard like you used to be! Will you help me? Pleeeeeeeeaaaaa Sssseeee?" I pleaded with my mommy to help me.
"Luckily Lucy dear, I was lent the third key. Since I'm not a wizard anymore, I don't actually own these keys. Please hand me the other two so I can give them back to the staff members."
I nodded and handed her the two keys. She showed me all three of the keys. The keys were still accessible to her, but she couldn't use them.
The third key that she showed me after I gave her back the other two. I was curious as to what the key was, but then I saw the symbol and the name came to me right away.
If I remember the symbol on the key correctly, it's the Gate of the Goat or Gate of the Sea Goat. Either way, this particular key summons the Zodiac Constellation Capricorn. I may be only seven years old, but I do know the symbols of the Zodiac. Mama used to be a Celestial Wizard after all, and the staff members that inherited the keys from her told me all about them.
Mommy showed me how to use them, but she didn't actually summon them. She also gave me a rundown on how a Celestial Wizard makes a contract with a Celestial Spirit. I pulled out my little notebook and took notes. If I'm going to learn to summon Spirits, I have to get the basics written down first.
She also gave me a crash course on how to use my inner mana to create items from the power of the stars using my imagination. You see, I not only loved Celestial Spirits, but I also loved everything that had to do with the night sky and the Stars in outer space. Yep, this was a good life. It went this way for a while, all three of us always had dinner together. Yes, everything was great. I was mesmerized by everything having to do with Celestial Spirits and the Stars in the sky. I also liked to read a lot. I know that sounds strange for a seven year old girl, but it's what I love to do. Even the staff would have meals with us every now and then. They all helped take care of me. We were one big happy family.
Then suddenly all of that changed.
Little did I know that the upcoming change to my life would be terrible. Each year things would go from bad to worse. It all started on July 7 of the year x774. Just six days after my seventh birthday.
For the next six days after I turned seven, everything was great. July 7 six days after my birthday, Mommy suddenly had to go out on a job for something in the Capital City of Fiore, known as Crocus. It wasn't that bad at first, Daddy was always there for me when Mommy had to leave. The staff was always there for me as well. I continued to meet with Mommy and the staff to help me improve my magical abilities. Daddy helped me some too, but he wasn't really that into magic. The little he did know about it helped me at least some. However, eventually he started to teach me the inner workings of the family business.
As the years went on, things changed drastically.
The year is x775, I am now eight years old and have been studying both Celestial Magic and Star Make Magic. Thanks to the help of the Estate Staff I was getting better with both Celestial and Star Make Magic. I definitely took more to the Holder Magic Celestial Magic, rather than the Caster Magic Star Make Magic.
This is to be expected since Caster Magic is a lot harder to learn and master than a Holder Magic type like Celestial Magic is. I was able to create things with my imagination, but they would fade soon after. I refused to give up though. I studied that Star Make book with purpose. Eventually I was able to create basic stuff. However, they would also disappear shortly after as well. One day, I noticed my favorite doll Gonzales had a tear in her paper dress. I didn't have scissors, glue and paper nearby, so I focused my power to my hands. I created something, it looked like a piece of thread. That's it, I've got it! "Star Make Thread!" I said as a golden yellow magic circle materialized at my fingertips. Focusing on only the thread, I was able to use it to sew the tear in Gonzales' dress. That was the first thing I created with my Star Make Magic.
The year continued as it did, Mommy would leave early in the morning to go to Crocus, but wouldn't come back until late at night. She was tired so she didn't have much time to continue my magic training. Therefore, I had to resort to the Estate Staff. Daddy kept on putting himself into his work and hardly had time for me anymore except to teach me the ins and outs of the family business.
The year was now x776, Mama kept on coming home at night more and more tired. She eventually stopped eating dinner with Papa and me. One night she came home and she collapsed on the bed she shared with Papa. She never handed me any keys. They were nowhere to be found. She decided it would be best to not even handle the keys anymore. She sighed as she looked at the book in my hand. The cover was starting to get more and more worn each time I read it. She got a curious look on her face and right before she got into bed she smiled at me, "Lucy my dear, how is the training on your magic doing. Are you doing well trying to develop your Star Make? What about your Celestial Magic?"
I sighed as I looked into Mama's eyes, those soft warm eyes that I have seen for nine years, "it's going okay Mama, but every time I think I have a handle on Star Make and have actually created something, it disappears as quickly as it appears. As for the Celestial Magic, it's about the same, but I have a better handle on Celestial Magic than I do Star Make Magic. Is there a reason for it?"
"It's no surprise that you have a better handle on Celestial Magic than you do on Star Make Magic. Caster Magic is a lot harder to utilize than Holder Magic. You can still focus on your Star Make Magic, but for right now, I think you should focus more on your Celestial Magic."
"I still want to focus on both," I sighed as I had a look of defeat on my face. However, the more I thought about it, the more sense it made for me. Eventually I would get my Star Make Magic where the stuff stays and doesn't just disappear. For right now I smiled and nodded, "Celestial Magic is my main focus for now, but I won't give up on my Star Make Magic. I will make you something sometime and give it to you. How does that sound?"
"That sounds wonderful my dear!" Mama exclaimed happily then continued as she climbed into her bed, "The first thing you make, that stays, I want you to give it to me. Just keep working hard my dear and everything will come to you in time."
"I understand Mama! I will do that! Thank you for always believing in me!"
"You're very welcome my dear."
After she was situated in bed, Mama sighed as she looked at the picture of her with her Celestial Keys from when she was younger. "I'm afraid I won't be able to help you with magic anymore my dear. This new job has really taken a lot out of me. I want you to continue studying with the staff, and if Papa decides he wants to help a bit with your magic development, let him."
I nodded as I gave Mama a hug and kiss, tucked her into bed and left the room she shared with Papa.
Little did I know that this would be the last time I would ever see Mama smile, at least until the day where I made her something really awesome with my Caster Magic Star Make! I can't give up and never will! My life as a wizard would continue!
The year was x777, I think it was January. It all seems like a distant memory now, but it is still very vivid in my mind.
The year leading up to my tenth birthday kept getting worse everyday. Mother continued to come home late at night after leaving early in the morning. Each night she would come home more and more tired. Father kept on getting more and more distant as he continued to throw himself into his work. I honestly have no idea how much longer I can take this. I'm just going to have to grin and bear it even though it's going to be hard for me. Since Father threw himself into his work, I threw myself into my studies of Magic and the family business. Between you and me, I spent more time studying magic than I ever did the family business. I was getting better everyday, but I still struggled. Both my Celestial Magic and my Star Make Magic continued to take a lot out of me. I will get it someday! It was only a matter of time! This year keeps on getting worse with every passing hour, day, week, and month. What will the future hold for me?
The hours turned to days, the days turned to weeks, and the weeks turned to months. Until the day of my tenth birthday came and went. As time went on, Mother kept on leaving early and coming home late. Mother was about to go on another errand for Crocus when I temporarily stopped her. I held a special present in my hand for her. It was my first solid Star Make success. It was a golden bracelet. It was made of several golden star charms weaved with care. I gave it to Mother and smiled.
"Mom, I made something for you, it's a special bracelet that I made with my Star Make Magic. I'm giving it to you for good luck on your job. I hope it fits you alright."
Mother smiled as she took the offering from me. At first I wasn't too sure it would fit her because it didn't look like it would. She took it and placed her right hand through the circle of the charm bracelet. Surprisingly, it fit her perfectly. She then embraced me in a nice warm hug and gave me a kiss on my forehead. I had created my first successful Star Make item.
"Thank you Lucy my dear," Mom said with a smile while continuing to embrace me, "I will treasure it always!" With that, she let me go and headed off to Crocus for the errand she had to run.
Soon, the time came where I had to witness one of the most horrible things I have ever seen.
Mother came home from her job late that night as usual. However she looked even worse for the wear. She didn't say much, she just gave a gentle hug and headed straight to her bed. I had no choice, I had to follow her. Eventually I made it to the room she shared with Father. She immediately collapsed on the bed and I rushed in there after her before she could close the door. Once she was in bed, I shut the door behind me and sat on her bed right next to her. I couldn't believe my eyes, the mother that I've come to know over the past ten was deathly pale and devoid of any emotion except for fear in her eyes with tears running down her face. I couldn't take it anymore, I hugged her close and cuddled with her as long as I could.
"Mommy!" I exclaimed in sadness, "What's happening to you? I don't understand? Has your job really taken this much out of you?"
"My dear Lucky Lucy," Mother said as she looked me in the eyes, "please hold up a brave face for your father, the staff and myself. You are truly Lucky Lucy of the Heartfilia Clan. Your father and I are very proud of you. We wish for you to have a wonderful life. Chase your dreams, because your dreams won't chase you back. Live life to the fullest everyday and never waver. You are my Lucky Lucy! Don't you ever forget that!"
Mother fell asleep that night. Little did I know that she would never wake up again. She had fallen into a Coma. Father and the staff tried to shoo me out, but I refused. I would spend the next six days next to the bedside of my mother. I would only leave to use the restroom and eat meals. I would also occasionally leave to practice both my Holder Magic and my Caster Magic. On the seventh day of the seventh month of the year X777 my dear mother Layla Heartfilia took her last breath and passed away in her sleep as I fell asleep next to her lifeless body. Father came in, picked me along with my Star Make text book and took me to my room and tucked me into my bed.
Things continued to get worse from there. Year after year Father threw himself into his work. He never spoke to me and never came down to dinner. He called me into his office one day and berated me for learning magic and ordered me to stop that silly stuff. I tried to reason with him. He was having nothing of it. He just berated me and berated me and told me to focus on inheriting the family business and getting a husband. He expected me to give birth to a son and stay home to wait on his every whim. I could not take it anymore. I packed up a few outfits, some Jewel that I had earned from helping the staff around the house. In the dark of night on July 7th of the year X782 I ran away from home never to return until I became a great guild wizard. This was the start of my magical adventure. Little did I know that just a couple short years later I would meet lifelong friends that always had my back.
On a train bound for the Hargeon port, two humans and one blue flying cat were seated. Well the white-haired girl and the blue furred flying cat were seated, another human being with pink hair wearing a white scaly scarf and some strange clothes was laying on the ground with white pupiless eyes and looking grossly green in the face was having the worst time of his life.
"I'm sick of this ride! I'm never riding a train again!" the pink haired teen exclaimed as he continued to lay on the ground with a sickly look on his face.
"Seriously Natsu," the blue-haired cat berated, "you say that every single time you get on any mode of transportation. You've got to get over that motion sickness of yours."
"Happy," the white-haired girl said, "give Natsu a break, you know very well he doesn't do well on modes of transportation."
"I know Lisanna, it's just so annoying to see him like that," the blue-cat now known as Happy said to the white-haired girl now known as Lisanna as looked over at his other partner, the pink-haired boy now known as Natsu.
My name is Lisanna Strauss, I'm seventeen years old and the year is X784. Today would be a day that lives in infamy, the day that Natsu, Happy and I met the girl with golden blond hair.
The train finally stopped and Natsu seemed to be reinvigorated as the girl named Lisanna and cat named Happy exited the train. The boy named Natsu remained on the train momentarily to regain his bearings.
My name is Lucy, today is the day that I will meet three amazing new friends and really begin my Wizarding adventure…
To Be Continued…
Note from the Author: Not really much to say about this short intro. This is my own take on the Lisanna is alive and not replacing Lucy story. Unlike my other two Starry Heavens Stories, Natsu is not dead and he is not in Edolas. He accompanied the Strauss Siblings on the mission two years ago. Just like Lisanna he was seriously injured. This was just basically an introduction to the third story in the Starry Heavens Story Series. It will be the very last. Things will be kept closer to Canon in this story, but it will have some of my own ideas in it. While Lucy at this time does have Star Make Magic, she mainly focuses on her Celestial Magic. Occasionally she will practice her Star Make Magic. It won't come into being an equal part to her Celestial Magic until at least the Lullaby Arc. That doesn't mean that it won't be used before it. Please read and review and I hope you enjoy this third story. None of these three stories are related. However, I haven't ruled out a Crossover between these three AU stories. Of course there will be OC's in this story, I'm just not sure when they will appear. Four of them will be mine and two of them will be of a couple of friends of mine. One of them being my Beta Reader, and the other, well, you will just have to wait and see.
