The old warehouse building ended up being perfect for sick people. It took two loads to bring them all to the warehouse. Gangs members were very useful in terms of carrying sleeping bodies to a truck and then unloading them at the warehouse. By the time they finish last load Batman's aircraft came with additional bullets and vaccines. That was time when new packs of mutants came running from the city. Some men had to get their sleeping bullets and go on the bridge to protect it and the others took care of the frozen water path which was also full of mutants. Those new packs were smaller than the first and mostly women who were less strong than male mutants.
Logan and Jimmy were helping with the building set up and unloading the bodies when Batman's aircraft came. All the cure was transported to the warehouse with sick people. Instructions were clear and the dose depended on the weight of the body but the range was enough to categorize vaccines for men, women and children. Everyone who knew how to do injections came to the warehouse and started on vaccination.
Ellie was amongst those who knew how to take care of sick people. She managed vaccines and separated people on three groups each of them was responsible for each body type of mutants. Bodies also were separated on three categories depending on the approximate weight of them. New bodies were coming in but not so many as it was in the beginning.
-Ellie I will go to the bridge I have to see what is going on. Jimmy will stay here and be helpful with a truck's unloading.
-Ok, Logan. Please, be careful.
-I will.
Logan left the warehouse but he didn't go to the bridge right away. He wanted to check on Justice's house and hoped to find signs of White Shadow. But everything was the same there since the day he left, more dust and one broken window.
"She is not here…" - thought Logan on his way to the bridge when he saw a lonely woman walking down the street.
-Hey! Hey! Why are you here by yourself? It's not safe! - he screamed from his side of the street.
-I just have to go home real quick and bring some food so we can feed people have in a camp. - she answered.
He didn't know her and she didn't know him but this disaster really pulled people together in order to survive, made them care for each other and trust strangers.
-Let me help you! I'm a news reporter from our local channel. - Logan crossed the street.
-I know who you are! I saw you in videos before this all happened and then you were printing newsletters, right?
-Yes. We have a small team but we got it straight. Why do they let you go alone! There is still a serial killer… or did you forgot?
-People helping those in camps so we trying our best to support food supply. My mom she is helping with food but you know there is not enough so we decided to take what left from our house. I have a gun with me just in case. - a woman was nice and Logan help her to her house.
-I will wait for you outside. - ha said when they got closer to an old duplex.
-Thank you. I will be fast we don't have much food anyway.
-Don't worry. I will help you to carry bags.
The woman went inside and for a while Logan heard her walking and even talking but then she went silent. He waited a little bit more and decided to walk in…
Batman left the bridge and headed to the South to the Blackgate Penitentiary when he got a call from Alfred.
-Yes, Alfred.
-Sir, I just got an activity rate from the suit… her suit. She is alive, Sir.
-I am on my way to the Blackgate now, Alfred.
-Sir, she is moving towards downtown.
-Moving… after being dead for how long?
-The statistics shows that she was dead for almost ten minutes, Sir.
-It is impossible, Alfred. It must be somebody else took the suit but…
-Exactly, Sir, you designed it to read her statistics based on chemical balance … it is her.
-Where is she moving exactly?
-Right now she is on Second street and Metropolitan Boulevard she is heading North to the center.
-Do you know how she is moving on foot or bike?
-I think it's a car, Sir. Regular car not a Batbike.
-It will be easy to find then, thank you, Alfred.
-One more thing, Sir. We sent out the aircraft with vaccines and bullets. It will arrive to the Zones in fifteen minutes.
-Good news, Alfred.
Batman hanged up the call and changed his course, he was looking for any driving car which was not hard to find in totally empty streets.
Batman saw a car flying in the boulevard, he was two avenues off so he turned around and followed.
"She doesn't chase anyone so she must know where she is going" - Batman thought and proceeded after the vehicle.
It was downtown now skyscrapers like forest trees grew up and vanished into the green fog of the sky. There was no sun and no wind, the air was still and rotten. Gloomy empty streets, broken windows, garbage piled up and thousands of rats infesting the area.
Batman saw the car on the street, the same car he was chasing but when he got closer it was empty. He looked up and saw in front of him stood such a familiar skyscraper of Wayne Enterprises deserted and dark with broken front windows of the lobby.
Batman turned on his arm screen and a red dot emerged showing coordinates of the suit and Justice if it was her who was still wearing it. The dot was moving up and then stopped.
"Thirteen floor… What is there? Accounting, yes I think it is an accounting department" - thought Batman getting inside the building through one of a broken windows. Electricity was off and there was long way upstairs but Batman almost flew up and checked his monitor again.
To be continued…
