A/N: Hello everyone! It's been far too long and I apologise for the delay in writing. Life does make finding the time I want to put into this story difficult, but I promise it is still being written. As always, let me know what you all think of the chapter and I hope you all enjoy! Your reviews and personal messages are incredibly helpful motivation and a big boost when I'm trying to write!

30. Sunrise Over the Lake (Home Doesn't Quite Feel Like Home)

Azula couldn't trust anyone. At least, no one in Fire Nation armour. Even after her conversation with Zuko, her brother had still left. And, in the process of doing so, done an unpredictable amount of harm to her father's trust in her.

They're still my soldiers. They report to me and me alone.

Somehow, that sentiment didn't seem to fill her with the confidence it had previously. What respect she still garnered from her soldiers because of her father had been crushed by the sheer weight of Percy's displays during the attack.

She was sure that the Dai Li were completely up to date on his destructive wave, and possibly even his casual handling of them underground. Not to mention the insidious whispering of his storm. None of it happened in her presence, but spoken around corners and in rooms after she'd walked by… None of it was treasonous, but it was enough to invoke the same sense of dread she remembered from her first conversations with Percy. And there was no way to stop all of it.

Mai and Ty Lee sat by her side, both of them spending the hours of travelling in silence. None of their usual playful teasing could be heard, and the princess couldn't stand it. She didn't know why she missed it, but her head was ravaged by thoughts because of the nauseating monotony.

Her father couldn't let her have one minor victory. He couldn't trust her to go alone, or with just Mai and Ty Lee. Her brother had left her, as had her uncle.

Percy, I know him. I know where he'll go. I can convince him to stay. I can…

Her hands caught themselves tugging at her hair. Its frayed ends fell over her cheek, falling like the barely constrained lake full of tears that seemed to pull themselves towards the ground. She quickly tried to pull it underneath her pin before any soldiers could see.

Her hands began heating up, ready to burn it all. Evaporate the tears, scorch the hair, melt the armour, whatever it took.

You cannot show weakness.

I cannot-

"Azula?" Ty Lee's hand laid on her forearm. "Do you need some help with that?"

The sun was beginning to rise over the horizon, lighting the interior of the airship vivid oranges and reds. They appeared to be about to make their way over the south-western parts of the Earth Kingdom.

"Azula?" Her typically excitable friend repeated.

Although there was a deeper emotion behind her questions that comforted the princess.

"Yes, I-" She tried to reply, before nodding. Her face softened marginally. "Mai, can you inform me when we arrive at the lake."

The knife-thrower acknowledged her with a lowering of her head, before she and Ty Lee made their way through the corridors. Most of the rooms were relatively empty, with the soldiers on duty, so they didn't have to pass too many people before they made it back to Azula's room. Sure enough, there were still two guards either side of her door. They both bowed as the two girls passed, but the princess eyed them with suspicion.

Ty Lee closed the door behind them and immediately pulled her lightly into a chair. She searched Azula's desk and found her comb. Almost bouncing on her toes, the girl moved behind the princess and pulled out the pin that had been failing to hold up her hair.

With the princess sitting down after so long being forced to try and be aware of everything, her body threatened to shut down. Her gaze lingered on her bed for what was probably a bit too long, and her tired mind decided to flash an image of her boar-q-pine blanket. Sleep had evaded her before, but it was worse. The figment of the aroma that passed through her thoughts didn't help as it seemed to fill the room. All before Ty Lee's words grounded her.

"What do you want me to do with it?" She asked, brightly, though Azula could tell that she picked up on something.

The firebender raised an eyebrow at her. Her friend always surprised her with her emotional intelligence.

"Just get it back to what it was." Azula replied, blandly. "I need it like it was."

The gymnast let out a downtrodden hum, before dutifully running the comb through her hair. Azula couldn't help it as her mind leapt back to the beach. Every comforting situation seemed to throw her back to the lake. It didn't feel as cool, nor as calming as the water comb, but it did its job.

The princess would've almost begged to feel that again though. She couldn't help but want the tugging of her hair into a braid with Percy sitting behind her.

He never did answer how he stayed dry. It must've been waterbending… but how? Constantly doing waterbending it off? That seems just insane enough for Percy to do, but also not quite right.

Azula looked into the mirror to see a wide, genuine smile on her face. She hadn't felt like that since the afternoon by the lake. As quickly as she could, the princess attempted to drag her cheeks down.

I can't let myself go back there.

It seemed Ty Lee wouldn't let her.

"So…" she began, "do you think Percy will be at the lake?"

The red blush that rose to her face was distracting enough for her not to even feel a modicum of jealousy. Just the memory of her hair being pulled over itself, she needed it. Right as her friend was about to put her hair up as per usual, she stopped her.

"Fine, do what you want with my hair. But it just needs to be up." She avoided a question with her reply.

"Yay!"

Ty Lee's excited reply allowed Azula to be slightly comforted that she'd averted her particularly pointed query.

The gymnast's fingers worked deftly through strands of her hair and, though it didn't feel as personal as Percy's, it still put her at ease. In no time at all, her hair was pulled up into something resembling a bun. Her Fire Nation pin pushed through an almost braided top knot on her head. It was nowhere near as tight as the waterbender's, but that didn't help her in trying to forget about the beach.

"There! How do you like it?" She asked.

"It's great, Ty Lee." Azula replied. "Thank you."

Her friend beamed at her, but the princess' mind decided to wander further down her path of memories.

'Does your father love you?'

The question Percy had asked her. She had responded so decisively then.

Surely he does, he still wants me to be Fire Lord.

He's the only one you can trust. Your destiny is in his hands. All you have to do is take it.

Then everything will be yours.

Her brother had betrayed her. So even the family closest to her could. What about her friends?

Ty Lee had always stayed by her side. Even in that room, there wasn't anything Azula could see that wouldn't indicate that she'd remain there. The princess saw her friend's eyes, as though they were reading her thoughts. Her face was a sympathetic smile.

The firebender was about to ask Ty Lee something she'd probably regret, before she was interrupted by a knock reverberating through the metal door. Azula stood up and returned her posture to one acceptable of royalty.

"Yes. Come in."

A soldier opened the door.

"Mai requested to let you know that we are now over the lake."

Azula nodded before dismissively waving him away.

Once the door had closed again, she thought about her reserved and broody friend. Those words seemed to describe her less since she'd met Percy. They'd all changed for that matter, but Mai's closeness to Zuko, and openness about her emotions, made Azula question whether her friend would leave her for her brother.

Was she given the opportunity? If she was, should I trust her more? If she wasn't…

"Azula?" Her friend asked, a lot more cautiously. "Are we going out to our friend?"

There was an emphasis placed on 'friend' that pulled her out of her thoughts. Again, the princess was surprised with her friend's ability to read her.

Does she always know what I'm thinking?

"Yes. Let's go."

She strode out past the guards and heard the soft footsteps of Ty Lee following her. As they came to the main room, she saw the parts of the lake she recognised below her airship. Ahead of her stretched the canopy of trees that called out to her as home.

This is what would be burned. Destroyed. I want that?

Then everything will be yours. Anyone. You can build a world of your creation. Pick and choose who you want. It is your destiny to have everything you desire. What is one burnt forest in comparison to that?

The airship listed away from the morning sun as it flew over the shore. The princess kept looking out for the cabin, but to no avail. And then, almost perfectly blended into the environment, her eyes found a break in the treetops. The brown roof showed itself for a second, before it resumed hiding behind the blanket of leaves. Whether by accident or not, she couldn't help but be impressed with the concealment Percy had given himself.

Can your father give you everything? Would he be able to give you the son of the sea? The earth shaker? Your stormbringer?

The princess truly hadn't pondered Percy's words to her father enough. And words seemed like an understatement. Spoken with such confidence and conviction that she could tell even her father was unnerved. Ozai had been thoroughly beaten.

Even if he can give me everything? What would that be, if everything is ashes? If the earth is razed.

After a few more minutes of flying, Azula thought they'd gone far enough for her liking.

"Take us down at the earliest opportunity." She ordered.

"Yes princess!" Came the reply from someone.

She didn't particularly care who replied, but she felt them begin to descend.

Azula couldn't help how her heart jumped to be back there. Even with the many soldiers surrounding her, trying to suffocate her joy.

Percy's got to be here.

The demigod watched the sun rise over the trees into an airship-less sky. It wasn't unfamiliar, but the surrounding woodland was most certainly different from his own residence by the lake. There wasn't the density of the trees around his cabin or in the monster-infested woods in Camp Half-Blood. The trees felt a little breezier above the air temple.

I guess that might make sense. Or might just be some rather funny coincidence.

He'd remained awake all night. Partially because he still wasn't entirely trustworthy of Zuko. Not nearly enough to leave Toph undefended overnight. But mainly because he wasn't aware of the area. A lifetime of being on the run had meant always being vigilant while camping out in the woods.

The demigod didn't think these kids took a lot of time to have someone be a look out during the night. Then again, their very existence (or their smell) didn't attract monsters. It was purely their actions that got them into trouble, or a trail of sky bison fur. Yet another blessing that this new world had gifted Percy, though it wasn't at all worth it.

Also, a slightly less important detail, his boar-q-pine blanket sat next to Siosi with the rest of the kids.

Is it less important? It's super comfy.

He saw Zuko stirring, while Toph's legs still hung over into Percy's lap. The firebender's bleary eyes attempted to take in his surroundings and were clearly surprised to still see the demigod sitting across from him. After a few moments of being on guard, his posture relaxed, and he allowed himself to look around further.

They both sat in silence, letting the morning sounds start to flood their senses. Birds within the trees began chirping. The sound of those frogs, whatever they were, began to fill the clearing.

Who knows what they are here. Could be some ungodly combination of a frog and a-

His thoughts were interrupted as one of the animals making the sound leapt onto a fallen trunk of a tree that sat nearby.

"What are those?" He asked, perplexed.

He thought he'd seen something similar by the lake, however it looked practically like a frog. There were minimal changes to it, at least from what he could see. Mainly some darker tones along the top.

"Oh, those?" Zuko replied, equally mystified, though Percy felt it was more towards his question than the animal itself. "Those are badgerfrogs."

Percy let out a snort, one that almost made Toph wake up. Instead, she just rolled slightly, positioning her legs on a different section of the demigod's lap.

That might be one of the dumber animal combinations I've seen here. It's just a frog. What a weird place.

The demigod found himself deep in thought on his opinions of the stupidity of both the wildlife of his new world and the ones that he'd learnt about by being a demigod. He was unable to compare a lot of them before Zuko pulled him out.

"You treat me like I'm normal."

Zuko asked it as though it was a question, though Percy couldn't find one in there.

"Yes? Would you like me to treat you like a prince? Or like an enemy? I've been known to treat both with a level of sarcasm that you might not enjoy."

"No, that's not what I meant." He gestured up to his eye. "Even without the scar being… as there, people still look at it. They react to it."

His fingers brushed over his pinkish skin. Tracing the edges of where the deep red used to be.

"But I remember you." He continued. "At no point did you ever look at it any more than to look me in my eyes. Even my uncle, when he looked at it, I could tell he didn't like the memories it brought up."

"Well," Percy began, "I hate your dad. If that's what you're asking."

"No, not really. I kind of gathered that already. What I guess I'm trying to say is, it didn't matter what it was, or how it happened, it felt like you still waited to hear who I was before using the scar to figure it out for you."

"Huh."

The demigod sat with his words for a bit. Toph shuffled a little more in her sleep.

"I used to know this one kid. He gave up his eye. He said he did it for revenge. I think he mostly meant that." Percy started remembering him more. "But I also think he believed he deserved to lose the eye. That if he was going to be important, he would have to sacrifice a part of himself to do it. I guess I've seen too many kids scarred for the wrong reasons so if I can hear their stories, I always ask. You never really know what something means to someone without knowing them first."

The sun continued to rise in over the forest, pulling the shadows away from the firebenders face.

"Well, thank you. I know it probably doesn't seem like… um… a lot, but still. Thank you."

You and your sister just have the best way with words. Although am I much better?

"Well, it's really no problem, but you're welcome."

They sat in silence some more, letting themselves relax in the warmth of the morning.

"That was your storm, right? You created it, like under Ba Sing Se?" Zuko asked.

Percy just nodded. He didn't particularly want to remember that.

"How…" Zuko trailed off looking at the sky. "That much power. You're like the Avatar."

The demigod raised his eyebrow at the firebender but chose to continue to remain quiet. It seemed the boy had more to get off his chest.

"To control more than one element. That's just-"

"Shhhh" Percy interrupted him. "Quiet."

His voice was stern as he looked at Toph. She was mumbling something in her sleep. He leant his head down next to her face and tried to decipher what she was saying. Percy didn't particularly worry about whether Zuko was offended by being cut off.

"Metal…. Metal… legs." Toph muttered.

It was about all the demigod could make out. He looked up at the firebender.

"Metal legs?"

Zuko's eyes just widened as Toph sprung from his lap.

"Combustion Man." She said hurriedly. "He's here."

He helped Toph get up, although it seemed his healing had done wonders. With his focus away from the firebender, Percy heard his footsteps travel quickly away from them and towards where the Avatar's group was.

Zuko's running headfirst at an assassin who blows things up with their mind. Sounds like something I'd do.

"Where is he, Toph?" He asked.

"The same way Zuko ran."

They both took off after him. The demigod led the way through the undergrowth of the forest towards the canyon. In no time at all, they came upon the cliff face once more. An explosion shook the ground as they both saw Zuko land on the other side of a man. Percy probably should've guessed that the description of a metal "combustion" man would've been on the more literal end, but it still surprised him. Moreso the third eye tattooed on his forehead that seemed to be the origin of the explosion.

"Stop!" Zuko yelled. "I don't want you hunting the Avatar anymore! The mission is off. I'm ordering you to stop."

The firebender was shoved away and the man took a deep breath in. His face was aimed right at the kids on the platform below.

Water.

Percy raised his arms and grabbed the water from the fountain. The demigod heard Zuko continue to yell at the man but focused instead on keeping water in between the kids and the man. Another explosion sounded, but as it didn't affect his water, he looked towards Zuko. He was hanging precariously from a plant root on the underside of the structure.

Using the distraction, the demigod used his hand to flick the water and cover the assassin. Focusing a little, he turned it all to ice, encapsulating him.

"What happened?" Asked Toph.

"Well, I think that should hold-"

Percy's words were interrupted as he saw the ice heating up around the man's forehead. Before an explosion lit up the area above where Zuko clung to the plant. Rubble and chunks of metal flew off in all directions as the demigod shielded Toph from anything that might've come their way. After a few seconds, the area fell completely silent.

"It seems he tried to explode his way out of the ice I encased him in."

Toph snorted slightly.

"From the sound of it, that didn't go to well for him."

Percy just hummed in agreement.

"Okay, let's see if Zuko is okay then check in with everyone else."

They were met by the firebender and made their way down the stairs to where all the kids stood waiting for them.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but… thanks, Zuko." Aang said. "And Percy, of course."

The demigod waived it off nonchalantly, but genuinely wanted them to focus on the firebender more.

"Listen, I know yesterday, I didn't explain myself very well. The last few years have been hard, realising that I've had some to learn the truth about the world. I wanted my honour back, and I thought my father could return it to me. But now I know it's regained by choosing to do what's right. My uncle taught me that. All I want to do now is play my part in ending this war, and I know my destiny is to help you restore balance to the world." Zuko turned around to Toph and continued. "I'm sorry for burning you. It was an accident and I'm trying to learn how to control my bending. But more importantly, I'll work to regain my honour and trust with all of you."

The three kids in front of them looked surprised at the revelation that Toph was burned by Zuko, but the young girl just nodded. To Percy, it seemed the speech had worked on Aang, as he was talking about how Zuko was meant to be Aang's teacher. But the demigod was distracted by Toph. An almost devilish grin was beginning to grow on her face. He could tell she was thinking of all the ways to pay the firebender back.

"Thank you. I'm so happy you've accepted me into your group." Zuko bowed.

"Not so fast." Aang said. "I still have to ask my friends if it's okay with them."

The young boy looked over at both him and Toph.

"Toph, are you okay with it? Zuko burned you."

"Heh, don't worry about that on my part. Percy helped me with that, so I say let him join. It'll give me all the time to get some payback."

Her fist pounded against her palm and the demigod figured she'd only be half-joking.

"Percy?"

"You already know where I stand, Aang. Don't give him anything for free but giving him the chance to be better is always a good option."

The Avatar nodded before turning back around to the siblings.

"Sokka?"

"If he'll help us defeat the Fire Lord? I'm for it. I also agree with Percy."

"Katara?" Aang asked, approaching her a little tentatively.

The waterbender's glare towards the firebender made him sweat.

"I'll go along with whatever you think is right." She answered.

"I won't let you down! I promise!" Zuko said, while Aang just smiled.

Percy watched as they all split up, Sokka beginning to lead Zuko towards where it seemed they'd been staying in the Air Temple. Aang followed about a step behind, with Percy making his way a few steps further behind them.

"So, here you go, home sweet home." Sokka extended his arm towards the room designated for Zuko awkwardly. "I guess, you know, for now. Unpack? Lunch, soon? Uhhhh… welcome aboard."

The firebender smiled at him.

"Yeah." Sokka finished, uncomfortably.

The young Water Tribe man walked out and met Aang in front of Percy. The demigod making sure he was standing back against the far wall of the hallway.

"Okay, this is really, really weird."

Before he could move to the doorway, he felt Katara storm past. Whether in her anger or just a lack of care, it seemed she didn't even acknowledge that Percy was there. At least in that moment.

The demigod could see beyond the blue of the waterbender in the doorway that the firebender held a painting of his uncle and a small smile grew of Percy's face. The ex-Prince's head whipped around to Katara standing at door.

"You might have everyone else here buying your… transformation, but you and I both know you've struggle with doing the right thing in the past. I won't lose them like I did my father."

The girl left the doorway and strode a few paces into the room. Percy's eyebrow raised, wondering how Zuko would handle it.

"So let me tell you something, right now. You make one step backward, one slip-up, give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang, and you won't have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I'll make sure your destiny ends, right then and there. Permanently."

Katara turned away from Zuko and stormed out of the room. She almost shouldered by Percy but he moved out of the way. The demigod decided it was best not to follow her. His head dropped slightly as well. He wanted so badly to be able to tell Katara her father was alive, but he didn't want to provide false hope.

Instead, he moved up and knocked on the wall, still not quite used to there being so few doors around.

"Yes?"

The firebender's voice seemed a little shaken.

Good.

"Yeah, I feel like that's justified."

Percy walked into the room, leaving the door ajar and looking out the window.

"I know." Zuko said, looking at his hands miserably. "But, you know, my uncle once told me right at this very temple that if I keep an open mind and an open heart, I'll find my own destiny. I think, in some ways he always knew me better than I did."

"That wouldn't surprise me. There wasn't much I could sneak past that man." Percy replied, looking directly at the painting. "I know you have, but I would take her threat very seriously. She's just about the most dangerous person here to have angry at you."

The firebender raised his eyebrow at him.

"Alright, fair enough." Percy conceded. "Then just be glad I'm only angry at your father then. But still, she would kill you to protect the rest of us in a heartbeat."

"I know." Zuko admitted.

"But now," Percy began, "I want to hear about this war meeting that happened. If there's one thing I've learnt in my life, it's that having someone who knows the future strategies of the people we need to fight is invaluable."

"When did you learn that? You don't seem like the type to study war strategies."

Percy was sorely tempted to agree to his statement, but he found his brain decided to answer in the infinitely funnier way for his own amusement.

"Oh, just dreams."

The firebender's quizzical look made him as amused as he thought he'd be. But instead of elaborating, the demigod sat facing across from Zuko.

"Tell me everything you know."

A/N: A much more character driven chapter. Post invasion it's really about dealing with the necessary character growth (the Gaang in the show) that needs to happen before the finale and I want to treat this story no differently. While all very important, it'll not be incredibly action heavy for a bit. As always, let me know what you think, and I truly appreciate all the reviews and because I want to respond to all of them, apologies for any who think it is a bloated word count (I just really like talking about these two universes/characters and my story).

Review replies:

Nai Darkor: Thank you! I am definitely attempting to update as quickly as possible but unfortunately, this time that was 5 months.

Hauntzy: Thank you! Me too, I love having little character bonding in the background or at least unfocused in the scene, as that just makes it feel all the more natural. I'm glad you liked it! There's a little more here too and definitely more to come.

HaywireEagle: Thank you! Definitely going to be good in the future, though certain reunions might take a bit longer than people hope.

Imheretolive08/Guest1/Scurra71900Conner W/Lord of the east/UQJTAk8cx9dpbvEL/Death Fury/mizuhara88/Kirito Tatsumi: Thank you! Another update! I hope you enjoyed! The story is definitely still alive!

Francisco J Garcia Jr: Ehhhh, unfortunately for you, I'm quite the fan of Katara and Aang. They make all the sense to me and Zuko and Katara just seems to be solely because there's just so much angst there. I don't blame anyone for wanting that ship, but Aang has always been the healthier/more attractive partner for Katara (at least in my opinion).

Vibius: Me too! I love the growth she's getting, and I love writing it even in smaller moments. Death to the fatherlord!

ElvenQueenLibrary: Thank you so much for the compliment! It means a lot. I did reply in a PM but for anyone else who is truly kind enough to think the same, for me it all comes down to really visualising the characters. Because there's a tv medium I can watch, watching that as I write dialogue for the characters helps a lot as it helps me really get in their voice. But I'm a huge proponent of a lot of time between the first draft and the final edit. Anything that you can cut becomes quite obvious after a while and everything else is essential for some reason or another.

DragonHighElder: Thank you! Yeah, I really like the ending for that exact reason. It would hit Percy out of nowhere too. Both the realisation that his words did have an effect on Azula but also the memories he's missed potentially helping out a different pair of separated siblings. Hope you enjoy and can clap through any more potential pain :)

CRUDEN: Percy does have a lot of wisdom to spout with all that experience.

ScarletEmperor: Yeah, FFN has been a bit weird with update notifications as well for me. But those sound like excellent steps to take. Yeah, Ozai's voice has got the Joker in him. That is a very apt description of what Azula has and continues to go through. It's awesome you're rereading and looking into my story so deeply. Exactly. More and more she's been making active choices that open herself up/make her vulnerable/show "weakness". Starting with a bunch of times with Percy, but the main one that kind of set the more empathetic responses to me is how she treated her animal post her first time in the lake. There's a lot of small moments of doing that. I agree it's not all conscious as well. Yeah... look, I set up that particular nugget of pain and I do think you're not too far away from what's going to happen. Which I'm glad because it means paying attention to the story gives you an accurate prediction of where its going. The prison imagery was big for me, because it parallels Zuko soooo nicely. Methinks also, I've been building up and adding things I want to do with the boiling rock since the very beginning. it's been almost 3 years of planning so I hope I can write it well. Yeah, broke me too a little. It is my fault and I hope to make it better... not before making it worse though :) Appreciate the heck out of your reviews!

Onyx the hybrid: And it is more you shall get!

CreativeNameOrSomething: Thank you! It means so much to me that an update from me makes you feel that joy! Yeah, it's a hard line to ride but she's definitely still a broken person. I like to compare her to Jynx from Arcane (a comparison which I could probably write a whole essay on if there was a motivation to). People with manic personalities/bpd/schizophrenia/psychopathic tendencies are still very much people and have the capacity for change, growth and humanity that I think a lot of people write off. Especially when they're still just kids.

Mando-Vet: Yup, it truly doesn't get any easier. Just you get more used to dealing with it. She admitted it! I'm glad you think it was awesome and I hope you enjoy what's to come.

Legion2345: I think a lot of people are hoping for that. I do love that idea, though I love a lot of different outcomes to this story that I can picture in my head.

trey dragneel: Well, I did. I said it. Deal with it. Hahah although seriously, it hurt writing it. Percy and emotional angst just go hand in hand.

SupergodzillaSailorCosmos: Too true, although I think I wouldn't have started writing this story if there wasn't a way Azula and the others (including Ty Lee) could be good for Percy as well.

nagiten: If memory serves, I believe he used three hands to pick up all the other soldiers that were boarding with him. Although my story isn't perfect, if it was a bit confusing, I probably could've written it better. Very true, although a lot happens after that message. I think the big thing with Luke is that Percy didn't hold out hope, not until right at the end when Annabeth convinced him. So it's very understandable he would question whether or not she deserves to be helped in any capacity. Although I don't think he ever casts her as evil or dark. Just reflecting her father's darkness. I have thoughts on the language that I won't spoil but I hope you enjoy what I do with it. It was probably a typo, the 'the' probably was supposed to come before fire lord. Mmmm a lot of drama. Hope you enjoy!

Guest2/dragonlord2782: That is a very fair and understandable reaction to Ozai.

AramilOniasha: There's a few explanations. I do like to keep the spirit world vs. godly stuff vague like ATLA, but one could say that a combination of Katara's spiritual connections in her bending and Percy's godliness would make it stronger, or more connected to the spirits. But you decide what works for you.

sirzechscifer: Either you're a troll, or an incel. Or both most likely, but either way, I don't think this story involving the complex emotional turmoil of many different characters you'd have to empathise with is the story for you. I don't think you continued to read but if you did, I'm not changing anything about how Percy acts in this. I think it's just about the most accurate Percy I could imagine. This is camp councillor, only wanting to be a normal kid Percy. Canon Percy, whilst scary from the outside, truly just cares about people. He was raised by Sally Jackson, and she's an angel.

Thank you all so much for you reviews and I hope you continue to enjoy my story!
