Orleans (Part 2)
The Next Day*
Sonic, holding onto Mash, Jeanne, and Fou, sitting on his head, was dashing towards their next destination. The two Servers held Sonic tightly while he was blaring at high speeds.
"*Running At High Speeds* We should arrive at our next destination soon. How are you all feeling?" Sonic questions
"I-I'm feeling a bit... Uneasy... I-I'm not used to going this fast... Ugh..." Jeanne, A Bit Tippy
"You'll get used to it, Jeanne. I felt the same way as well, still feeling the effects. But will passed by eventually." Mash assures
"Well, don't worry, ladies. We shouldn't be far from where we should be heading. Romani told us our next location is this way, where I'm running to," Sonic stated
"We don't have much time. We must get there in time to see what's going on! La Charite, again, is our next destination." Mash said
"Sounds good to me! Hang on tight! We're speeding things up!" Sonic exclaimed
La Charite*
After a few minutes of running through the fields, Sonic, Jeanne, and Mash arrive at La Charite. They see that the town is in ruins and debris everywhere. The three are left speechless by the amount of damage surrounding them.
"*Looking Down At The Falling Debris* ..."
"W-What happened here?! Who did this?!" Mash shocked
"I don't detect any lifeform in this area... It's completely abandoned..." Romani stated
"*Picks Up A Broken Brick, Starring At It* Why does everything have to ruin, no matter where I go...?" Sonic commented
"Don't falter right now, Sonic. While this place is in ruins, we must do everything possible to prevent another attack like this..." Jeanne assures
"Speaking of attack, enemies detected near your area!" Romani exclaimed
The three notice the unliving, showing themselves as they stroll toward them and prepare for battle. Sonic runs towards the two living dead and kicks both of them, knocking them away and falling on a pile of bricks. Jeanne runs past Sonic as she stabs one of the living dead, throws them up into the air, and strikes them several times, cutting them into pieces before fading away. The second living dead soon grabbed Jeanne's leg and was about to bite it until Mash slammed her shield on the living dead's head and crushed it as blood and its eyes flew out. Moments later, three more living deads appear as they all sprint towards Mash and Jeanne, ready to eat them until Sonic dashes by in front of them and attacks with a spin dash towards the living dead and cuts all of them in half before their bodies all fall to the ground. Soon after, three more living dead appeared and were sprinting towards the three. The three began charging at the living dead, and all attacked them at the same time. Jeanne struck the first living dead by stabbing it with her spear and cutting it in half. Mash slams and knocks the second living down to the ground before slamming her shield down at its head and exploding. Sonic grabs the third one and then tosses him into the air. Jeanne jumps at it, piercing its body and slamming it onto the ground, stabbing it through its chest before vanishing.
"And here I thought zombies were just a piece of fiction... Guess I was mistaken..." Sonic commented
"*Breathing Heavily* I can't... Not right now!" Jeanne exclaimed
Mash notices a group of wyverns heading towards them and eating undead disgustedly; Mash throws up in her mouth but covers it and swallows it. "Disgusting..." She stated as she prepared to fight again.
"Are they?"
"Yes! Yes, they are! Don't mention it!" Mash exclaimed
The zombies and Wyverns all stopped and stared at the three. They all roared at them as they began to charge towards them. Sonic runs up to the three Wyverns, jumps right at the first one, and unleashes a series of homing attacks at his head, attacking the Wyvern's stomach, dealing damage, and causing it to roar in pain. The two zombies were spilling at Mash and Jeanne and were about to attack them. untMashash ran up to both of them, slammed them with her shield, and knocked them away from her Mash Mash. Jeanne jumps. Mash Mash soon comes back down and stabs the first zombie through the head with her spear before vanishing away. Jeanne then raises her spear and stabs the second zombie next and throws it into the air, where she jumps at it and strikes it several times before dropping it to the ground and vanishing away. Sonic fights the Wyverns off by himself and quickly takes care of them. The Wyverns were flying right at Sonic, ready to attack him, until Sonic jumped away as both Mash and Jeanne charged in and struck both Dragons with blinding speed before knocking them away and vanishing.
"Now, are we done?" Sonic asks
""Hold up! The Servants that just left reversed course! This isn't good. They must've realized you're here! You must be kidding. There are five! They're fast… Are those Riders or something? We don't stand a chance against them! We must run!" Romani panicked
"Why run? We fought Servants before! We can do it again if we want to! Right Mash?" Sonic said
"Yes, Senpai! I'll continue to fight until the very end!" Mash replies
"Same goes for me! I won't fall that easily! I'll do so until the war has against the other "Jeanne!" Jeanne exclaimed
Soon, the Servants Romani worried about arrived at their location; the three stood their ground as the enemy Servants stared at them intently.
"Could someone please pour some water on me? This isn't good. It isn't perfect. I think I'm going to lose it. It's so funny I might die from laughing! Take a look, Gilles! Look at that pathetic girl! What is she a wimp? A mouse? A worm? Either way, they're all the same! So punt, I can't even muster any sympathy! Ah… truly… a country could only cling to "me"… comparing them to mice is an insult to mice. Hey, Gilles, don't you think so… Oh, I see. We didn't bring Gilles along." Jeanne? Mocked
"Who are you?! What are you doing here?!" Jeanne exclaimed
"What do we have here? Don't act this way; you know who I am. The Devoted Saint of France." Jeanne? replies
"Such nonsense. The real Jeanne would never do such a thing like what happened here! She would never ruin lives for her gain!"
"This place destroyed us! We fought for them, and all that just for us to be betrayed at the very end?! I will not stand to have such a death like that! Everyone in this place must suffer what we went through!" Jeanne? shouted
"Look, lady, we understand what the people did to you was unforgivable. But to kill those who had no involvement in all this and so?! Are you out of your mind?!" Sonic shouted
"Such a disgusting thing I'm witnessing... It doesn't matter; what matters most is that this country has turned its back on us. The Lord would agree that this is futile, so I plan to destroy every piece of it no matter what! But don't worry, it'll soon rise again in a much better way. But I guess none of you understand my goals, especially the holy virgin trying to play a Saint." Jeanne? exclaimed
"..."
"Jeanne, don't listen to her. She's a faker and only wants to bring you down from stopping her. We've been through a lot in so little time. I know you are a brave hero regardless of anything. Trust me, you're France's only hope." Sonic said
"France's only hope? You're right! Words like that shouldn't bring me down! I'll continue to fight no matter the opponent!" Jeanne replies
"Things are getting interesting here. Alright then, if you wish to die a painful death. Then I accept it, Berserk Lancer, Berserk Assassin. Finish off that country girl. You're getting tired of small prey, aren't you? Rejoice, they are strong. Your thirst for blood is the strongest among all the Servants I summoned. You exist to crush the brave. Devour them to your heart's content." Jeanne? commanded
"Let's do this, girls!" Sonic exclaimed
"Yes, Sonic!"
Soon, the three and the two enemy Servants dash towards each other and begin to fight as Sonic dashes towards Berserker. Berserker attempts to strike Sonic but with a swift movement of his head, barely dodges the attack and jumps back. He curls into a ball and homing attacks but Berserker blocks his oncoming attack with ease. But Sonic wasn't done yet as he spin dashes underneath Berserker's legs and kicks him from behind his back. Meanwhile, Jeanne and Mash were dealing with Assassin, Jeanne attempting to strike her with her lance but Assassin dodges her attacks and counters back by grabbing Jeanne by the neck, squeezing it hard and attempts to stab her through her heart with her sharp nails only for Mash to ram into Assassin, breaking Jeanne free from the attack. Jeanne? Watches as all of them continue to battle for a minute. Both sides not going down that easily.
"*Skids On The Floor* I'll admit, these guys are no pushbacks. But we won't give up just yet! Or never, to be exact!" Sonic said
"An exciting animal, I must say. If allowed, Master. The Gren gem's power may be useful in defeating them." Berserker said
"*Pulls Out A Green Chaos Emerald* Fine, but only because you haven't killed them fast enough yet. *The Emerald Glows As a Green Aura Surrounds Both Servants* " Jeanne? stated
"*Notices The Emerald* WHAT THE?! SHE HAS THE EMERALD?! SINCE WHEN?!" Sonic shocked
"S-Senpai?! What's going on?!" Mash exclaimed
"What she's holding is a Chaos Emerald! It originated in my world, and now that Jeanne is using it to strengthen those two! At this rate, humans trying to on Servants using the emeralds is impossible!" Sonic replies
"Oh, I see you're familiar with this animal. You can have it until you defeat Berserker and Assassin, which I doubt." Jeanne? replies
Assassin charges her skill and unleashes a large wave of blood toward the three, forcing them to jump away from the attack. However, Berserker is behind them quickly as he strikes Jeanne, Mash, and Sonic quickly, dealing damage to them. Sonic skids on the floor, but Berseker catches up in front of him and attempts to finish him by pricing through his body. Sonic uses his speed to dodge the Berserker's strike. However, Berserker isn't done. As he stabs his weapon into the ground, spikes of blood begin to pop up in front of him and head towards Sonic, who quickly gets up and dodges the spikes that attempt to price through him.
Meanwhile, Jeanne was being choked by the neck by the Assassin as she threw her into the coffin filled with spikes and closed shut her inside it. Mash rushes towards Assassin, but she dodges her shield strike and counters back by slashing her across with her sharp nails. Mash blocks it but is pushed back by the force of the strike. Sonic notices Jeanne trapped inside the coffin as he speeds towards Bersereker, ramming into him and knocking him aside, speeding towards Assassin to attack her. Still, Assassin grabs him in a choke hold, crushing his neck to choke him out, but Mash rushes in and attacks Assassin with a strike of her shield, knocking her back and freeing Sonic. However, Jeanne was still trapped inside the coffin, and Berserker was preparing for an attack. Sonic gets into a stance and dashes towards Berserker. Berserker swings his weapons across him, but Sonic's back sways just in time from his neck being sliced open as he kicks him in the stomach; he runs back and kicks Berserker on the back, knocking him towards the coffin and with the force of getting hit, opens the coffin and Jeanne is pushed out of it and free from the attack.
"Even with such strength, these three continue to stand and fight! It's getting on my nerves now how resilient they are!" Assassin annoyed
"Tch! Why is it hard for you two to kill them, even with increased strength!" Jeanne shouted
"What are we going to do?! We're throwing everything we can, but there seems to be no end!" Jeanne exclaimed
"You're right. But this is barely what the Chaos Emerald is truly capable of. What we're fighting isn't the full potential that I've seen before." Sonic commented
"Oh, so this little gem of yours has more in it than I realized? How fascinating! Maybe I looked deeper into- *She Suddenly Gets Rammed By A Moving Object That Has Her Let Go Of The Emerald* What the fu-?! The gem?!"
"*Quickly Grabs The Emerald And Tosses It Towards Sonic* Take it! Quick, Mr. Blue Animal!"
"*Grabs It* Hey, thanks for the assist! Don't want these fellas in the wrong hand." Sonic replies
"Who the hell are you? Look at what you've done!' Jeanne? exclaimed
"I'm doing the innocent a favor by stopping those who caused harm to the innocent! I will no longer watch you destroy this place!" The mysterious person replies
"Y-You... I would have never thought I would see you again..." Saber surprised
"Oh, so you recognize me. Fair Knight? I don't seem to remember who you are. May I kindly ask for your name?"
"Saber... Who is she?"
"I can tell who she is, even with murderous rage burning in my heart. Her beauty is unmistakable. The girl they called the Flower of Versailles. She is… Marie Antoinette." Saber replies
"Q-Quessn Marie Antoinette?!" Mash shocked
"Marie Antoinette? Gosh... I need to take History classes in my free time..." Sonic commented.
"That's right! Thank you for saying my name! And as long as that name exists, I will play my role, no matter how foolish it may be. You! Dragon Witch who's torching my country. It might be pointless, but I will ask you anyway. Are you evil enough to perform your wicked deeds in my very presence? Will you declare yourself a greater fool than I, the queen who failed to stop the revolution?" Marie asks
"Silence! You lack the right to participate in this battle. Go back to playing dress up and live your rich life, unlike these peasants!" Jeanne? replied
"That won't be necessary. I must see my home rise with my own eyes! I must see the end of this battle one way or another! That's what I plan to do!" Marie stated
"And what could you do? You think you'll be able to reclaim this land knowing damn well you lived a rich life and didn't do anything to stop this when this was all occurring?"
"You may think that way, but I'm here to do what is best suitable. I'm a Queen, and I must protect the people of this land. I don't care how I do it, but I will see France rise again and be more vital than ever!" Marie assured
"Enough of the farce. Very well then, you are my enemy. Servants, first take care of that annoying princess! Then that blue rodent!" Jeanne? exclaimed
"Yes, that's right. This is a battlefield, after all. That's enough talk. You're the enemy of the world, aren't you? We must appease the souls of all those you murdered. Thank you for waiting, Amadeus. Crush them like bugs!" Marie commanded
"Leave it to me! Noble Phantasm, "Requiem for Death." Amadeus unleashes his Noble Phantasm at Jeanne's Servants.
The sounds of music echo through the area, and the enemies are affected by the sound of the tune as they can't think clearly or do anything correctly. During this time, Marie commands everyone to follow her as they do, leaving their enemies behind and finding another time.
Sometime Later*
"… Phew. All right, are we safe now? That was a lot to take in such a short time..." Marie tired.
"I'm not detecting them anymore. While we're at it, I'm picking up leyline readings from that nearby forest." Romani said,
"Not a bad idea," Sonic said
"Very well. Jeanne? And… Marie?"
"Mare, did you say?" Marie replied
"F-Forgive me. Um…"
"You weren't being rude! You made me so happy! The way you addressed me was so adorable! Please, splendid foreigner! Would you mind calling me that from now on?" Marie assures
"Uh, yes… Miss Marie, or Mademoiseelle Marie, perhaps?" Mash asks
"Nope, that won't work at all. Just Marie! Like the sheep!" Marie replied
"I don't understand that reference at all... Someone tell me, please..." Sonic asks
"Yes! Yes, yes, yes! Nice to meet you! I'm Marie! You look so cute and cuddly, Mister Blue animal! I can squeeze you right now! Let me guess. You're very popular with the opposite sex, right?" Marie said
"*In An Uncomfortable State* I mean... that's left up for a debate... I'm not sure..." Sonic confused
"… Marie, may I speak?" Mash said
"Oh, my apologies. I got excited for a minute. How rude of me. So, how may I be of service?"
"A strong leyline was detected in a nearby forest. I want to head there and make camp… Is that all right, everyone?" Mash asking
"Do what you need to do, Mash," Sonic replied
"Of course, that's fine. Is that all right with you, Amadeus?" Marie asks
"There's no point in asking for my opinion. Do what you want, Maria." Amadeus responded
"All right. It should be fine, I think." Jeanne said
"Let's go there and rest, and then we can talk about our next move," Mash said
Inside The Forest*
"… Looks like some monsters have found the leyline, too," Mash said
"Alright, everybody. Get ready! It's time to take out the trash." Sonic said
The werewolves also begin charging at Sonic, raising their swords, ready to attack. The first Werewolf swings at Sonic but avoids the sword swing by backstepping back first, rushing forward again, and counterattacks with two fast-homing attacks on their faces, sending the Werewolf flying and hitting a tree. The second Werewolf lunges at Sonic and is about to attack him until Mash rushes in and slams her shield at the Werewolf, knocking it away from Sonic and falling to the ground. Sonic gives Mash a thumbs-up for saving him, and Mash smiles. The first Werewolf gets back up and charges at Mash and Sonic again. But before it could attack them, Jeanne runs past both Sonic and Mash and strikes the Werewolf with her spear before unleashing a series of strikes at the Werewolf and cutting it in half, vanishing soon after. The second wolf attempts to get back up, but Marie fires projectiles at it, and all explode on impact at the Werewolf, dealing massive damage before vanishing away. Moments later, two more werewolves appear and charge right at them. Still, Sonic turns around, facing away from the werewolves, and dashes towards him at blinding speed, running in circles until he creates a twister around them and sends them off somewhere. Seconds later, three more werewolves appear as they run towards Mash, Sonic, Jeanne, and Marie.
"Let's do this!" Sonic commanded
"Here I come!" Mash exclaimed
"Here goes nothing!" Jeanne shouted
"This should be fun!" Marie said
Moments later, all four charges at the three werewolves as Sonic lunges in and performs a strong kick. One of the werewolves throws it back to a tree and falls to the ground. Mash runs toward the second Werewolf and swings her shield across, hitting the Werewolf and throwing it back to the first Werewolf, where they both hit each other. Jeanne soon after rushes right at the two werewolves stabs them both with her spear and, using her strength, throws both werewolves in the air, where Marie fires an energy projectile right at them and explodes on impact, finishing off the werewolves before vanishing away. Moments later, the last Werewolf runs to Sonic and is about to attack him until Sonic kicks him into the air; Mash and Jeanne jump up as they slash the wolf in half, vanishing soon after.
"That's what I call teamwork!" Sonic said
"Great job, everyone! Now then, I will establish a summoning circle." Mash said
"Hey guys, are you enjoying your trip through 15th-century France? Now, then, let's get today's lecture started. Today, I'll be talking about Servant categories. This one is important for you, Sonic, so listen carefully. Most of the Servants that can be summoned are divided into seven classes. Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Caster, Assassin. Each class has various compatibilities. Saber has the advantage over Lance, for instance. And Lancer over Archer, and Archer over Saber. Rider over Caster, Caster over Assassin, and Assassin over Rider. Berserker is strong against all classes but weak when attacked. It's like a game of rock, paper, scissors. Keep this in mind when fighting the enemy. Of course, some Servants don't fall into these categories. I'll explain them another time. Okay, the circle's good to go. Have a nice journey!" Da Vinci explains
"Now that things have settled, I'd like to introduce myself again. My True Name is Marie Antoinette. I'm from the Rider Class. As for who I am, I'd be happy if you could examine me closely with your eyes and ears. As for why I was summoned, unfortunately, I have no idea. After all, I have no Master." Marie said
"Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I'm the same as her. As for why I was summoned, it just doesn't feel like I'm a hero. Yes, I'm great, but even so, I'm still just one of many artists… Well, I did apply magecraft in my music, but that was only because I was drawn to the sounds played by demons." Amadeus said
"I'm Mash Kyrielight. I'm a Demi-Servant, and I don't know my True Name. This is Sonic The Hedgehog. My Master." Mash introducing herself and Sonic
"Great to see you two, names Sonic The Hedgehog! I'm a Hedgehog who likes running and saving the world from evil. Also, thank you, Marie, once again, for giving me back the Chaos Emerald from Dark Jeanne." Sonic thanking Marie
"Oh my! You have a very nice name! You are such an interesting creature! It's nice meeting you as well! And no problem! I saw you begging for that gem that Jeanne held, so I decided to grab it and give it back to you! Can I ask what it is exactly?" Marie replied
"It's called a "Chaos Emerald." It's a mystical relic that possesses powerful properties and abilities. Anyone holding on to it can use new skills like warping around time and space. Using its power to power up machines, and so on. There are seven things, all in different colors, but I don't know where the others are. So one of my new objectives is to find all seven and take them to prevent anyone from misusing them." Sonic Briefly Explaining The Chaos Emerald is
"Oh, that so-called "Chaos Emerald" was why the green aura flowed around Berserker and Assassin earlier?" Mash asks
"Correct! The only reason why I trounced them was that they didn't know how to use it properly. They didn't know how it worked and what it did. So it felt like I was battling them in their normal power levels." Sonic replied
"I would do anything to obtain something like that gem and its power," Jeanne commented.
"As long as you don't use it for something terrible," Sonic said
"Anyway, not that that's out of the way. This is…"
"Jeanne. Jeanne d'Arc, yes? The saint who saved France. One of the people I wished to meet in my life." Marie said
"… I'm not a saint," Jeanne replied
"Yes, everyone knows that's how you saw yourself. But how you lead your life was true, and we all know the results. that's why everyone will always remember and admire the name Jeanne d'Arc and the miracle of Orleans." Marie said
"…"
"Of course, your life ended at the stake, resulting in that witch. It's just like Maria to only look at the good parts. Am I wrong, Jeanne d'Arc? Your life was a little out of tune. Jeanne herself is the one who gets hurt when people call her a perfect saint. Listen, Maria. You always say what you think others want to hear. Sometimes, you need to scold or deny others." Amadeus said
"I-I don't need to hear that from you, Amadeus! You already tell me that every day! This is what you want. Your piano-brain! It's a piece of human garbage! You're a pervert who can only get it up for musical scales! If you like music so much, you should turn it into a piano!" Marie is trying to insult Amadeus
"I don't know if I should say this, but when you insult me like that, I feel indescribable. But see? You can do it if you try! Give the same treatment to Jeanne. Faster. Stronger. More violent! Tell her all of her flaws as you see them! I'm sure everyone else here has flaws as well." Amadeus admits
"That's impossible, Amadeus. Human garbage like you has nothing but flaws. But Jeanne herself has none." Marie replies
"Oh... Now that's a response..." Sonic commented
"Marie Antoinette. Your words honor me, but that's why I must confess I was no saint in life. I held the flag high for what I believed in, and as a result, I stained my hands with blood. Of course, I don't regret that. Nor do I regret the Inquisition… Or my death. But I shed too much blood. I believed in the dreams of a little country girl, but… At the time. I never imagined how high the price of that dream was. I never regretted it, but never did I feel fear… And that is my greatest sin. Only the outcome of my actions made me a saint. I do not think it's the right word for a country girl like me." Jeanne stated
"Even if you don't see yourself in high pride, to me, you are everything I always wanted to be... I thought to myself that a girl like me would understand the people of this country. But really, I didn't fit right into anything... We have flaws, but that shouldn't mean it should stop us from achieving our goals. France needs us! We need to save our country! This country's future is in our hands!" Maire stated
"I can't do anything by myself... Honestly, I would be dead now if Sonic and Mash weren't here... I'm just a nuisance..." Jeanne disappointed
"I think differently, Jeanne. Even if you claim that you are weak, you're still doing everything you can to stop the other Jeanne from taking over this country. Mash and I trust you are doing that. Do you want to stop her? Then, believe in yourself; you can overcome the odds and stop her. I know you can do it. I believe in you. NO! We believe in you!"
"Sonic..."
"Come on, I will explain everything that we know at this point," Sonic said
Evening*
"Now I understand. The whole world, never mind France, is in danger. Although it's in a different form, this, too, is a Holy Grail War?" Marie said
"I knew it was dangerous when I learned it was a Master-less summoning, but I didn't expect this. Now, there were five Servants in opposition. Nine total, including, but isn't that too much?" Amadeus asks
"The rule of seven Servants is no more. However, that doesn't mean infinite. It's not surprising at all if there are more than seven Servants. According to the records, one time, a total of fifteen Servants fought." Mash replied
"Oh, I get it! I've figured it out, everyone! We were summoned so that… We defeat them like heroes!" Marie said
"I think you may be right there, Marie," Sonic said
"Yes, yes! I finally feel like I've found my job in life!" Marie said
"It's perfectly fine to be confident, Maria. But we're up against powerful foes. Jeanne and Mash, as well as Sonic, are used to combat. But you and I aren't the fighting types. The numbers matter less than the fact that they're far stronger." Amadeus said
"… Indeed. Vlad III, and Elisabeth Bathory. Once they carved their name into history as a hero, the other, a murderess… the other that looked like a Saber seemed to know Marie…" Mash said
"… That's right. If she knows who I am, then… Perhaps she's Chevalier d'Eon? I've no proof, though." Marie said
"Chevalier d'Eon… A spy with Louis XV's intelligence agency, the Secret de Roi. She was also a Dragoon and a plenipotentiary minister… She, no, maybe he?" Romani said
"It matters little, a mage from a distant world. She was summoned from a different time than me, but her splendid face hasn't changed." "I see… it would be wonderful if she would join us…" Romani said

"I see. In other words, somewhere else in France…" "Indeed. There may be other Servants summoned here like Marie." Jeanne replied
"Oh my! That means I can meet even more people, right?" Marie said
"Well, if that means they aren't here to kill us," Sonic commented
