Obelisk Arena: Evening…

"I'm ready to see what your new Amazoness deck can do, and I also wanted to ask you something about what happened today."

Kai met up with Jasmine at the arena, which was understandably vacant after the events that took place today. People had quite a bit to think about after the events which had transpired. The Obelisk Male dorm had lost a considerable number, weather they were demoted or dropped out.

Seeing this had scared quite the number of female students into deciding this academy wasn't for them. It's not like people were torn up about it, save those Obelisk guys who were salty enough to bail, it was just a rather sudden turn of events which Crowler and Fontaine wouldn't explain.

"What do you think happened?" Kai asked.

"Maybe it has to do with that Duel Giant people have been talking about." Jasmine guessed. "They were only targeting Obelisk, who were given their cards back today."

"Hm, it could have been a test." Kai reasoned. "The academy could have targeted specific Obelisk who weren't doing too well. They ended up failing and were put through a demotion duel."

"Well, things are certainly quieter." Jasmine noted.

"Eh, that's just the shock of the situation." The war challenger user shook his head. "People will get over it and return to normalcy. If there's one thing I can say for Obelisks outside our group, Zane, or those who get promoted in, it's that they tend to be stubbornly set in their ways."

Topher managed to break out of that, but he seemed like the rare exception as far as your standard Obelisk went.

"Still though, Crowler and Fontaine both said the people who dueled today were the only ones up for demotion." Jasmine smiled. "I think that means it's okay for us to duel now."

"Probably would have been regardless." Kai smiled back at her. "Let's see what these Amazoness of yours can do."

The pair moved the right distance from one another and faced off at the ready.

"Let's Duel!"

(Kai 4000/Jasmine 4000)

"As I went first last duel, you can go first now." Jasmine declared.

"Here goes." Kai drew. "I summon Heroic Challenger – Night Watchman(LV 4/1200/1000)." A leather armored, blue caped warrior appeared. "Whenever an Earth Warrior-type monster is normal summoned to my field, I can special summon War Rock Gactos(LV 4/1900/1900)."

A man with two stone clubs appeared. "I now construct the overlay network with my two level 4 monsters. Xyz summon Gagaga Cowboy(R 4/O 2/1500/2400) in defense mode." A cowboy with twin guns appeared kneeling before his duelist.

"When he's in defense position, I can detach one overlay unit to dole out eight hundred life points of damage." One of Gagaga Cowboy(R 4/O 1/1500/2400)'s overlay units flew into his gun and he fired the bullet through Jasmine (Kai 4000/Jasmine 3200).

"Looks like someone isn't holding back." Jasmine commented with a smile.

"Well, got to put your new deck through its paces." Kai declared. "Speaking of which, I'll activate the continuous spell Damage Off Zone. This will halve all battle damage to both of us. Now, I'll set one card and end my turn."

"Even though you cut the damage in half, my Amazoness will still hit you with everything we got!" Jasmine drew. "I'll start by summoning Amazoness Swordswoman(LV 4/1500/1600)." A female warrior with a sword appeared. "I'll then equip her with Amazoness Heirloom."

A hand-crafted item appeared before Swordswoman, and she gripped it firmly. "This prevents my monster's destruction once per turn and sees any monster who battles with the equipped monster destroyed. Now, Swordswoman will attack Cowboy."

Cowboy blocked the blades with his guns, the resulting waves of damage came Kai's way before they were then forced through an invisible barrier which reduced their size (Kai 3550/Jasmine 3200). Cowboy then glowed green and shattered as he was destroyed.

"You should recall this trap from our last duel." Kai smirked. "I activate my face down Xyz Reborn allowing me to target and revive any Xyz monster within my grave while bestowing this trap as an overlay unit. I'll revive Gagaga Cowboy(R 4/O 1/1500/2400) in defense position."

"With Damage Off Zone on the field, I'll either need effect damage or more battle damage." Jasmine noted. "Very well, I'll equip Double-Edged Sword to Amazoness Swordswoman(LV 4/3500/1600 effect) granting her 2000 ATK, and I'll follow it up with two set cards."

"She's setting up for something big to the point I should play this safe by working to get out one of my numbers." Kai thought as he drew. "Yeah, I can work with this."

"We'll see how you feel as now that it's your Standby Phase, I'll activate my set Battle Mania." Jasmine grinned. "Given your experience with this card, why don't you tell me what it does?"

Kai certainly remembered it. "Now, all face up monsters I control are switched to ATK mode, cannot change battle position this turn, and must attack this turn if able." He grinned right back at her. "Of course, you're facing the very monster which kept Greg and I in that duel.

I'll attack your Swordswoman with Cowboy. Since he's now in ATK position, I can detach his last overlay unit to grant him 1000 more ATK while the monster he's attacking loses 500 ATK during the damage step only."

Gagaga Cowboy(R 4/O 1/2500/2400 effect)

Amazoness Swordswoman(LV 4/3000/1600 effect)

"I'll chain my second set card, Shrink." Jasmine declared. "This quick-play will reduce your monster's ATK by half." Gagaga Cowboy(R 4/O 1/1250/2400 effect) was sliced down the middle. "Double-Edged Sword makes us both take battle damage from this…"

"…Since Amazoness Swordswoman requires I take all Battle Damage, it means I take double battle damage." Kai was surprised by the combo. "Due to Damage Off Zone halving all Battle Damage either of us takes, I'm still in this!"

Amazoness Swordswoman cleaved through Cowboy which saw one massive shockwave rushing at Kai, and even as it passed through the invisible barrier, it was still rather large (Kai 50/Jasmine 3200).

Amazoness Swordswoman(LV 4/3500/1600 effect)

"With the mandatory attack finished, I end my turn." Kai declared.

"My turn." Jasmine drew.

"My turn to activate an effect during your Standby Phase." Kai declared. "By paying half my life points and sending Damage Off Zone to the grave, I no longer take battle damage this turn."

(Kai 25/Jasmine 3200)

"Well, summoning a monster wouldn't exactly do too much then this turn." Jasmine smiled. "Looks like you've given me incentive to keep my field as is. Your move."

"I draw!" Kai smiled at what he got. "This should do. First, you control a monster while I do not, so I can special summon Heroic Challenger – Assault Halberd(LV 4/1800/300)." A purple armored warrior, wielding a halberd, appeared.

Then, I'll normal summon War Rock Wento(LV 4/1800/1800)." A green haired, female archer appeared. "By controlling at minimum 2 warrior monsters, I can special summon Heroic Challenger - Morning Star(LV 4/1500/1300)."

A blue and brown armored warrior, wielding a morning star, appeared. "It won't particularly matter in this instance, but no matter how he's summoned, I can add 1 Heroic spell/trap from my deck to my hand."

"Three level 4 monsters…I think I know what he summons now." Jasmine thought, recalling the end of Kai and Greg's duel with Para and Dox.

I now construct the overlay network with my three level 4 monsters." Halberd, Wento, and Morning Star all entered a wormhole. "Time to step into the ring. I Xyz summon Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus(R 4/O 3/2500/2000)." A yellow and blue boxer appeared.

"I'll equip him with Pestilence, which can only be equipped to a warrior, beast-warrior, or spellcaster and reduces their ATK to 0." Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus(R 4/O 3/0/2000 effect). "During each of my Standby Phases, I'd take 500 life points of effect damage.

Hardly going to matter as this duel ends now. Number 105, attack Swordswoman with Stardust Impact!" Star Cestus fired a bombardment of lights which rushed the Amazoness. "I now detach one overlay unit from Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus(R 4/O 2/0/2000 effect)."

During the Battle Step, if a Battlin' Boxer battles an opponent's monster, their effects are negated until the end of the turn. Additionally, the Battlin' Boxer I select with this effect won't be destroyed, and every life point of damage I'd take from this battle is inflicted to you!"

Not that it particularly mattered, but this did turn Double-Edged Swords own effect back on Jasmine as she was dealt a total of 7000 battle damage. The lights washed over the Amazoness, going around it to then impact the Amazoness user (Kai 25/Jasmine 0).

"With just a tight combo, you almost had me beat." Kai voiced as they met at the center of the arena. "Even after all the improvements I made, you managed to absolutely keep up."

"I put in a lot of work with Alexis to make sure my deck and skills were up to par." Jasmine gave a sincere smile. "I wanted to know if things like Wheeler and Jinzo continue to happen, I'll still be able to step up. While that means having your back, I also want to have everyone else's to.

"Take it from me, you're definitely there." Kai nodded. "Hey, it seems like the two of us have put in a lot of work. What's say we head back to that café we ended our first date on, and I'll buy us some drinks?"

Jasmine smiled. "That sounds lovely."

The two simply chatted comfortably as they left the arena together.

Card Shop: Days Later, After Classes…

Jaden, Syrus, and Dimitri were running to the card shop because today was a special day, one which had nothing to do with new cards.

"Slow down guys!" Syrus called out from behind the hero users.

"Can't do that, not on Sandwich Day." Jaden replied.

"Sorry Sy, you just got to keep up." Dimitri added.

The trio made it inside the card shop where a bunch of Slifers and Ras were crowding around a bin full of sandwiches inside small packages with the Duel Academy logo on them. All three of them ran up to the bin and looked inside.

"Isn't Sandwich Day just the greatest, guys?" Jaden asked. "All these choices and not one of them labeled."

"How's that the greatest, Jay?" Syrus asked. "I mean, there's ostrich burgers, grilled tongue, or a half dozen other mystery sandwiches that aren't exactly tasty."

"There are quite a few nasty ones in there, but you could also pull out a butter cake, fried soba, pizza bread, and various other good ones." Dimitri reasoned.

"There's one that's the best sandwich out of all of them." Jaden grinned. "The Golden Eggwich that comes from the magical rooster who lays the golden egg."

"That's just crazy talk." Syrus retorted. "Everyone knows roosters can't lay eggs."

"He's got you there." Greg stated.

His fellow Slifers jumped at his sudden appearance.

"How long were you standing there!?" Syrus gasped.

"I just arrived." Greg shrugged. "Anyways, hens are the ones who lay eggs Jaden, and even then, no hen I've ever seen lays magic eggs."

"I'm just saying what I heard." Jaden retorted. "Regardless of the truth, the Golden Eggwich is still absolutely delicious."

"Good luck with that because it's been five weeks since you've been able to draw it." Dimitri grinned. "On top of that, it's my turn to draw it as well. I just got that feeling."

"We'll see about that." Jaden pulled out a sandwich, unwrapped it, and took a bite. "Ughhhh…"

"Not the Eggwich?" Greg asked, a bit amused.

"Grilled tongue!" Jaden whined while dropping to his knees.

"Alright, my turn!" Dimitri retrieved his sandwich and unwrapped it before taking a bite. "Aw, it's just a standard ham sandwich."

Not that he wouldn't continue to eat this one.

Greg decided to follow suit, even if he doubted he'd get the golden eggwich himself. "Hm, a fruit sandwich."

Honestly, one of the better sandwiches he's gotten.

Gulping, Syrus drew a sandwich and bit into it. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! EXTRA HOT BONELESS BUFFALO WINGS!" He ran off towards the vending machine while frantically fishing out money. "I NEED MILK!"

He bought two bottles and chugged them in quick succession.

"Better a bad draw here than in a duel." The boys all turned to see Alexis holding up sandwiches.

"Alexis?" Dimitri asked.

"I get it." Jaden grinned. "You took the Golden Eggwich just so you can have lunch with me."

"I did no such thing!" Alexis blushed at the insinuation. "I was just practicing my drawing skills."

"Sure…" Jaden teased.

"I was!" Alexis yelled.

"It's true Jaden as she didn't draw the Eggwich." Ms. Dorothy approached them. "In fact, for the past five weeks, no one has drawn the Golden Eggwich. At least, no one I know. Someone must be sneaking in and stealing them."

"Seriously?" Greg gawked.

"That thief must be really good to draw it week after week." Syrus noted.

"It's true since none of the other sandwiches are opened." Dorothy bowed her head. "I'm so sorry."

"Hey, it's not your fault." Jaden declared. "It's all on the thief, who we're going to catch."

"How are we going to do that?" Syrus asked.

"By going on a sandwich stakeout, 24/7!" Jaden answered.

"Huh?!" Everyone reacted.

Night…

The group hung out in Ms. Dorothy's office and decided to put the bin of sandwiches with them, this way there'd be no escape for whoever was behind this. To the far side of the room there was a long desk where the four boys were playing uno. Alexis was nearby reading a book.

"Uno!" Jaden cried, putting down a red 7.

"Thanks for that Jay because I win." Greg declared, putting down a yellow 7.

"AW!" Jaden groaned.

He and others put their cards down.

"That's the fifth Uno you've gotten!" Syrus noted. "How're you so good at this!?"

"It's called conserving." Greg informed as he gathered the cards and went about shuffling them. "I limit my draws by putting down the same number except for the unique colors."

"Leave it to a duel prep student to play a simple game like that." Dimitri commented.

"Well, we did have a teacher who granted a point or two of extra credit for critical thinking." Greg noted.

"Who wants some stakeout snacks?" Miss Dorothy came into the office with some rice balls, yet they couldn't help but notice some had different seaweed designs. "I have salmon, tuna, mackerel, cod, and shrimp."

"Oh, we should draw for which rice ball we want." Jaden declared. "I'm looking to get salmon!"

"You want to draw rice balls like cards?" Greg asked.

Dimitri smiled. "It sounds like fun."

"Go for it, Jaden." Alexis encouraged.

"Alright, wish me luck!" Jaden reached for and bit into one of them. "Salmon!"

"On you're first try to." Syrus smiled. "Way to go Jay."

Jaden, forgetting the game idea as it was rather tasty, reached to grab another.

"Jaden, don't be rude!" Dorothy smacked his hand. "Wait for everyone else to try one."

Seeing the Slifer nod, the others decide to forgo the game and just grab a rice ball. Everyone could agree they were something else. Just as they finished eating, everyone heard something knock over inside the shop.

"They're here." Alexis whispered. "Hide."

Miss Dorothy turned off the lights and hid under her desk. Alexis, Greg, and Syrus hid inside the lockers while Jaden and Dimitri hid behind some shelves. Peeking, they watched as the shutter was lifted by two muscular hands. The thief went over and began rifling through the sandwiches.

Greg couldn't help but notice something. The odd thing about his riffling was that the thief wasn't feeling the sandwiches, like he was trying to feel what the toppings were. It was as though he already knew where the sandwich was.

"That should be impossible." Greg thought. "There are no cameras in here, so how could he know where the eggwich is?"

"NOW!" Jaden shouted, cutting his fellow Slifer's dilemma.

The group charged from their hiding places, ready to confront the thief and find out what was going on. Rather than be startled, the thief let out a loud yell before kicking off the floor and riding the crate of sandwiches towards the front doors.

"After him!" Jaden yelled.

Duel Academy

The group ran after the thief, which led to the rooftop. They continued to run until the thief suddenly jumped off and somehow managed to grab a vine before swinging away.

"Whoa, how'd he do that?" Syrus wondered, amazed.

"Never mind that." Jaden declared. "We need to cut him off."

Forest

The students ended up getting ahead of Dorothy and arrived in the middle of a small clearing. The thief swung in and over them towards the waterfall. He managed to grip the rocks and started climbing.

"DAMON!" The group turned to see Ms. Dorothy running towards them.

Startled, Damon slipped from the ledge and plummeted into the water. Fortunately, it was deep enough for him to submerge uninjured.

"Damon?" Syrus looked to the lady as the thief climbed out the water. "Ms. Dorothy, do you know this guy?"

"Yes, I know him, and he knows better than to steal!" Dorothy now got a good look at him. "Wow, you've changed!"

"Yes, I change." Damon stated gruffly. "I change for better."

"Not your grammar." Dimitri muttered.

"Miss Dorothy, how do you know him?" Jaden asked.

"He used to be an Obelisk Blue." Dorothy informed.

"Boy, they had a chill dress code back then." Jaden commented.

"No, he was different last year." Dorothy stated. "One day, he just vanished. Damon always visited me at the card shack, especially on Sandwich Day, but he always was bad at drawing the right one."

"Bad in that he never drew the golden eggwich, or bad in that he only ever drew those detestable flavors?" Dimitri asked.

"The latter." Dorothy stated.

"That's ridiculous." Greg declared. "Even though it comes down to luck, he visited you enough to form a positive association. With the odds of a good one or bad one being 50/50, he'd have had to at least drawn one good one."

"Are you sure he's the same person?" Syrus asked. "This guy always gets the best one."

"Not same person." Damon declared. "I new person now. I live in nature, hone my skills."

"Why'd you leave?" Jaden asked.

"When I Obelisk, I test good but have difficulty drawing. My draw ruin me each time! I do everything to work hard but nothing! As I watch nature, like waves crashing back and forth. Then, hit me!"

"Uh, you want me to hit you?" Jaden asked.

"Fairly certain he means inspiration struck him." Greg corrected.

Damon nodded, smiling. "Yes, it hit me! Just like I know what come next in wave, I realize I know what come next in cards! Must simply be in tune with nature! This why I train with nature…to learn…to be at one with nature…to be at one…with the draw! I get very good, but one way to be sure, I take eggwiches. This why I take them, not because I thief!"

"We understand." Dorothy stated sympathetic.

"Okay, I know you're legit with the eggwiches, but I like those as much as the next guy." Jaden declared. "So, let's duel! If I win, you stop swiping them. If you win, they're all yours!"

"Fine, but I expert drawer." Damon smiled. "There no way you beat me."

"Hey, I'm no slouch." Jaden replied.

"No, let me deal with him." Greg stated suddenly, drawing everyone's attention. "While it's true drawing is about luck, dueling is more than that. You start with deck construction, and if you're good at it, you'll minimize the luck associated with the draws.

Not everyone can do as Yugi or Seto does by simply tossing in high level monsters in hopes they'll function. If you've constructed a good deck, it does still come down to the luck of the draw. Even then, a well-constructed deck should aid in the skill you have to play what you get."

Damon pondered on this for a minute before nodding. "It on!"

He reached behind a rock to grab his duel disk while Greg prepared himself.

"Let's Duel!"

(Greg 4000/Damon 4000)

"Rookies first." Greg drew. "I'll start by setting a monster and one face down before calling my turn."

"Just as tree sways to and fro, I know what will come." Damon drew and chuckled. "The Nature has taught me well. I play Spellbook Inside the Pot. We both draw three cards. Now I play 2 cards facedown and summon Drawler(LV 3/?/?)!"

"Undetermined?" Syrus asked.

"That's usually not good when used against you." Alexis commented.

"Now, for every card in hand I return to Deck, Drawler gain 500 ATK and DEF." Damon declared. "I have 5 cards, and I return them all!"

Upon returning those cards, Drawler(LV 3/2500/2500) glowed with a red aura.

"2500 ATK points!?" Jaden gawked.

"That Drawler is decked out now." Syrus stated worriedly.

"Drawler, attack the facedown with Stone Roll Wrecker!" Damon commanded.

The stone monster rolled over the face down monster which flipped up to reveal Test Ape(LV 2/700/300) before it was destroyed.

"Drawler send ATK monster to bottom of deck, but your monster face down defense." Damon noted. "It go to grave."

"Good to know." Greg declared. "When my Test Ape is destroyed and goes to the grave, I can special summon any Level 4 or lower Gladiator Beast I wish from my deck. I'll summon Gladiator Beast Laquari(LV 4/1800/400)." A tiger in orange and white armor appeared.

Unlike Test Tiger, this effect didn't special summon them as though it had been through another Gladiator Beast. Still, it was quite the useful effect all the same.

"Slifer smart." Damon nodded curtly. "My turn end."

"Now, my turn begins!" Greg drew. "I'll summon Gladiator Beast Bestiari(LV 4/1500/800)." A bipedal green bird with green armor appeared. "I reshuffle Bestiari and Laquari into my deck to conduct fusion without the aid of a spell.

I call upon the beast of destruction. Descend, Gladiator Beast Gyzarus(LV 6/2400/1500)." The green, bipedal bird appeared now wearing thick armor. "Whenever Gyzarus is special summoned, I can destroy two cards you control. I choose Drawler and your left set backrow."

"Monster strong, strong enough to defeat Drawler." Damon declared. "Though card you target is Jar of Greed. I activate before destruction. Draw 1 card."

"I'll still take advantage of the fact you have no monsters and launch a direct attack." Greg declared, resulting in Gyzarus rushing forward and through Damon (Greg 4000/Damon 1600). "I'll finish out my turn by equipping Gyzarus with Gladiator Beast Battle Manica."

"Sweet move!" Jaden complimented.

"Way to play!" Syrus cheered.

"Not bad." Damon stated. "Before draw, I activate Miracle Draw! This how work. Before I take card from deck, I announce what card I think I draw. If I right, you take 1000 points of damage. If I wrong, I take damage."

"So, he's just guessing what card he'll draw?" Syrus questioned.

"Seems about right." Dimitri replied.

"Well, if you can say anything for his time out here, Damon must truly know every card he's got in that deck." Greg reasoned. "Given some of the plays Yugi Muto can pull off, I wouldn't put it past this guy to be capable of something like that."

Damon closed his eyes and concentrated. "Card will be Pot of Greed!"

He drew and revealed to everyone the card was Pot of Greed, shocking almost everyone.

"He guessed right!?" Syrus gasped.

"No way!" Alexis exclaimed.

"This guy's weirding me out." Dimitri commented.

"You're not the only one." Jaden agreed.

"Incredible!" Dorothy stated.

"Now, you lose 1000 life points." Damon reminded, resulting in Greg sparking with electricity (Greg 3000/Damon 1600). "Next, I activate Pot of Greed. I draw two. I like one! I activate Drawber, a Spell card. Now you draw card, and I guess what it is. I guess correct, all cards in your hand and field go back to your deck."

Greg drew and grinned at what he got. "Let's see it then."

"Oh man, this'll leave Greg wide open if he guesses right." Syrus stated worriedly.

"It's one thing to guess your cards, but a total stranger's?" Alexis shook her head. "The chances are slim to none."

The wild man closed his eyes for a short time. "Card is, Magic Jammer!"

"I don't even run that in my deck." Greg smirked as he revealed Gladiator Beast United, to Damon's dismay. "Word of advice, don't tech in a card like that unless you know the duelist you're up against." He added the spell to his hand. "Also, thanks for the card."

"Er, I play Card of Sanctity." Damon proceeded, frustrated. "Both draw until we have six. Now, summon another Drawler(LV 3/?/?). You know effect. I send all five to Deck. Drawler(LV 3/2500/2500) at 2500 ATK!

Now Drawler, attack Gyzarus! Stone Roll Wrecker!" Gyzarus held up the shield and halted the attack; however, a stone chip came off the ground and whizzed through Greg (Greg 2900/Damon 1600). "Why no destruction!?"

"That would be my Gladiator Beast's Manica." Greg informed. "While I do still take the damage, this equip card prevents my monster's destruction by battle. "That's perfect as we now proceed into the end of the Battle Phase.

As Gyzarus battled without being destroyed, I can return him to my extra deck to then call on almost any Gladiator Beast I wish from my deck. Contact out! I special summon Gladiator Beast Murmillo(LV 3/800/400) and Gladiator Beast Retiari(LV 3/1200/800).

An aquatic, bipedal fish and a bipedal, green lizard man wielding a trident appeared. "Both have effects due to being summoned by a Gladiator Beast. Retiari can banish 1 card from your grave while Murmillo can destroy a face up monster you control. I'll destroy and banish Drawler."

"No!" Damon gasped as his monster shattered.

"Since you have nothing more to play, that would be the end of your turn." Greg drew, though it didn't matter as his opponent had no cards in hand, and his grave contained nothing to defend himself. "Retiari and Murmillo, wrap this up with a direct attack!"

The two monsters attack Damon, bringing this duel to a close (Greg 2900/Damon 0). Damon fell to his knees, shocked.

"I…lose?" Damon pounded the ground and reverted his voice. "I can't believe I lost! I trained out here for a whole year!"

"Well, seems you haven't lost the ability to speak like a human." Greg stated.

"Huh? I uh no get…what…" Damon attempted.

"I don't mean to be harsh, but your façade isn't necessary anymore." Greg sighed.

"You mean it?" Damon asked. "Because I could really use a shower and a haircut."

Miss Dorothy walked over and knelt in front of him. "As well as a shirt."

She was nearly in tears and wasn't the only one since Damon was on the verge of crying.

"Well, I was thinking…All that vine swinging really got my body ripped." Damon tried

"Damon, a shirt!" Dorothy repeated.

"Okay…" Damon sighed.

They hugged.

Jaden grinned. "A happy ending after all."

"Yep, that's the end of that." Syrus agreed.

Card Shop: One Week Later, After School…

Damon had returned to Duel Academy, back in his Obelisk uniform and with his mane cut. He didn't do the Tarzan thing anymore, save the training which was daily. Just as promised, he didn't steal eggwiches anymore. Now, he and Jaden were heading for the bin. They saw Dimitri and Alexis were already there, digging through it as well.

"Did anyone draw the eggwich yet?" Jaden asked.

"No one yet." Dorothy replied.

Jaden and Damon smiled as they dug through the bin, joining Dimitri and Alexis in the contest. Soon enough, Dimitri was the first to pull out his selection.

He unwrapped it before breaking out into a grin and proudly displaying what he got. "I finally got the golden eggwich!"

"Aw…" Alexis and Damon groaned.

"Come on Dimitri, you got to split that with me." Jaden tried.

"No way, you never offer to share the ones you've pulled before." Dimitri retorted. "This one's all mine!"

He then took a huge bite, resulting in Jaden deflating.

Greg passed by the card shop before chuckling at the scene which greeted him. "Well, no one ever said solving this situation would get you the golden eggwich Jaden."

I don't think there's much to discuss about this chapter, and I'd rather talk about what you can expect next time anyways. In canon, what's next would be the King of Copycats; however, Dimitri is in a rather good place in this story. Does that mean I'm just going to skip those two episodes entirely? I could, but I think I can run with this opportunity. Aside from certain story beats I want to hit; I have the perfect opportunity/excuse to go big.

As a little treat, a taste, I'll say this: A certain, self-proclaimed, Godfather of Games will be showing up.

Threebranch: Oh, I got some stuff planned.

Vital Info: I would like to put things into perspective. I'd say for what I'm working with, the timing has been rather fitting. As it currently stands, the end of basically the first half of season 1 is coming to a close. After the school duel, it's almost all just Shadow Riders. Then, we're at graduation. With Zane heading off to the pros, there wouldn't be much to this mentorship plot line if it continued into season 2. This isn't to defend Kai, I'd never tell anyone how they should feel about the OC.

This is more to defend the story as I've decided to work with it. As for investors, Seto Kaiba don't need no investors. Even in Duel Monsters, they were a huge company, and that wealth would only have grown in the last ten years. Heck by the time of 5D's, which Kaiba Corp. is still seen briefly, the company is bound to be that much richer given how big dueling is then. That said, some promotion exams could be in order before the Shadow Riders kick in.
