Fallon watches as Clara walks into her compartment and closes the door on them leaving Fallon and the doctor in the hallway, Fallon let's out a sigh certainly need to work on that friendship, maybe I can change whatever future me did... Fallon comes out her thoughts when she notices the doctor staring down at her "what..?" She asked him.
"No." He replied back firmly. She gives him a look "what do you mean no?" He steps closer to her "I mean No to what you are thinking, you project to easily, look Lovely I know you want to change things to being better but what happened on that last trip was more down to me than you, well future you." He explains to her, his tone going softer.
Fallon just sighs and he presses a hand to her back and starts to lead her to another room "come let's retire for the time being."
As she enters the room "wait, so we are sharing a room?" She asked him. "Yes of course that's what married people tend to do." He answered back nonchalantly. She gives him a look "yeah but that's just a cover?" He stares back at her for a moment "of course, that's what I meant..that they believed our cover." He mutters before turning away and curses himself for that slip up, he would expect that from a younger him.
Fallon decides to drop it for the time being and move on to like a mummy on a train. She watches as the doctor lies down on the bed and decides to join him by lying next to him. She feels slightly nervous lying down next to him on a bed, he can feel the nerves coming off her in strong waves, she's once again projecting to him, he rolls his eyes but still he reaches out and takes her hand in his and runs a thumb over it, her nerves start to ease with his touch surprisingly, despite only just meeting this version of the doctor.
They remain silent for a moment on the bed, when Fallon speaks up. "We are going to talk about the elephant in the room right?"Fallon turns her head to the side to look at him. "And by elephant I mean The mummy on the train." The doctor rolls his eyes starts to mutter "It's nothing. Nothing. Definitely. Sure. Ninety nine percent sure. Really?" Fallon starts to realise he's actually having a debate with himself. "Ninety nine percent? That's quite high. Is that the figure you're sticking with? Okay, okay. Seventy five. Well, that's jumped quite a bit. You've just lost twenty four percent."
Fallon sighs and listens to him rambling on waiting for him to get his conclusion, so then they can get right too investigating.
Back in Clara's sleeping compartment
She's lying on the phone in the silk Pyjamas that were provided for her "A train in space? Sounds pretty cool." Her boyfriend Danny says to her on the phone. Clara sighs "So, what are you saying? Just because he brought me somewhere cool, I shouldn't dump them both?"
"Well, one, you can't dump either of them because they aren't your boyfriend and girlfriend and two they are already married." Danny reminds her, before he adds "You all still basically get on."
Clara is silent for a moment "Yeah, we do but they really hurt me, especially Fallon, I never expected her go at me like that."
Danny sighs down the phone "I think you should just enjoy your space Train." He pauses for a moment before adding "At least it's not dangerous."
"Yeah. It's pretty boring, really." She tells Danny, despite saying that she can't stop thinking about the mummy and she knows for a fact that the doctor and Fallon will be thinking the same thing.
Back at Doctor & Fallons sleeping compartment
"Because you know what this sounds like, don't you? No, do tell me. A mummy that only the victim can se-" his words are cut off with something being thrown over his head, he pulls it down and notices it's his jacket and Fallon is now standing staring at him when did she stand up? He wonders. "lovely..what are you doing?"
"Getting your attention" she tells him flatly "instead of rambling about the mummy that only the victim can see.. let's go play detective, you be my Watson to my Holmes"
The doctor beamed at her he could never resist playing with her. "deal" he throws his jacket on and grabs her hand pulling her out into the corridor, they go to head by Clara's door and Fallon can see the hesitation, she clears her throat and he gives her a groan "Look she was obviously interested in the mummy earlier, maybe this is the proper olive branch you need." He gives her a sigh and then gives her a dry stare back, she doesn't back down from it and gives him a pointed look "knock the door Theta"
His eyes widen for a moment "never plays fair" he mutters as he knocks Clara's door "Clara? Clara, we think there is something going on, Fallon wants to play detective, want to come join us?"
There was silence, the doctor glances at Fallon and she shrugged. "She's either sleeping or maybe she's went to investigate herself?" He gives her a frown, he's not keen on the thought of his sort of still companion going off on her own.
They leave and head down the carriages looking for anything that might help with the mysterious death that has happened. It seemed like a good place to start in the engineer carriage since Mrs Pitt's belongings got moved to there.
the doctor manages to find something that was in plastic wrapping, Fallon watches as he peels it off and starts to scan it with his sonic screwdriver, Fallon moves next to him wondering what will come up.
"Beautiful bit of kit, isn't it, sir? Ma'am?" A voice calls out making Fallon jump a little, along with the doctor. "Sorry i didn't mean to startle you both." The man in overalls holding a heavy looking piece of metal, nods to them before looking at the substance in the doctors hand. "The Excelsior Life Extender. It's like driving around in a portable hospital."
The doctor stands up and the first thing he does is tucks Fallon into his side protectively, it will annoy her but he doesn't care he will take the telling off. "Yes, well, it didn't do Mrs Pitt much good, did it?" The doctor countered at the man.
"Got me there, sir. Certainly got me there. Maybe it malfunctioned."
The doctor shakes his head "Oh, I don't think so. The records show that the machine did everything it could to keep her alive."
"Yeah. And almost drained the battery doing it."
Fallon gives the man a suspicious look and asks, "So, what do you know?"
He gives a shrug "Well, I know that when I find a man and woman fiddling with a chair that someone died in, it's best to play my cards close to my chest."
"Really?" The doctor mused "Well, I know that when I find a man loitering near a chair that someone died in, I do just the same."
There was a silent standstill for a moment between them all before the man smiled and laughed a little "Perkins. Chief Engineer."
"The Doctor." He introduced. "And Fallon.. my wife" he gestured at Fallon. "Nosey Parker and... lovely investigator." He better tread carefully last thing he wants is to be on thin ice with her. Fallon just shakes her head a little at his introduction of them.
Perkins sat the metal he was holding onto the table and stepped towards them and held a hand out and smiled "Pleased to meet you, Doctor." After he shook the doctors hand he turned and did the same to Fallon "pleased to meet you as well Fallon"
"So what do you know about this thing?" Fallon asked him curiously.
"Well rumours are that someone or something else might be responsible." Perkins said to them mysteriously.
"There always is." Fallon muttered and the doctor nodded as he glanced at her. "Always"
Fallon looked back at Perkins. "Feel free to fill us in with the rest"
Back with Clara.
After Clara had went out her compartment to check to see if the doctor and Fallon were up, she had returned back into her room and got dressed and went back out her compartment, she knew the doctor and Fallon had to be out investigating the mummy, it's not like they would be doing marital things. She quickly shakes her head. Okay Clara let's not think about that, though she can't help but feel put out that they went to investigate without her.
She's brought out her thoughts, with the sight of Miss Pitt walking past her in her Panama's and holding her stiletto in her hand, Clara turns to Follow her "Er Hello?" Clara tried. "Are you okay? Hello?" But she didn't even seem to be aware that Clara was trying to talk to her "Excuse me? Excuse me?" Clara called as she followed her into the baggage car where the Tardis was parked.
"Miss Pitt, wasn't it?" Clara asked her softly. "Are you all right? Do you need some help?" This time the woman turned to look at her her eyes wide "My name's Maisie. I'm not mad." she vehemently tells Clara.
Clara hesitated and holds her hands up. "Oh, okay. Er, I didn't say you were, but you've had a bad day. I think anybody could do with a little bit of help after a day like today."
Maisie doesn't answer her instead she turns back to the panel next to a heavy door at the end of the baggage car, Clara can see that it is labelled Private Company Property. "Computer, open the door." Maisie calmly orders it.
"Call me Gus." It said in a creepily cheerful tone. "I'm afraid this door can only be opened by executive order" The computer shows a thumbs down icon that suddenly makes a sad noise, that seems to be the last straw, as Maisie starts to hit her hand off the buttons in the keypad hard as she cries, Clara reaches out and puts a hand in her shoulder "Are you okay?"
Maisie shakes her head "They won't let me see her body." She wept "They should let me see her body, shouldn't they?" she asks Clara hoping at least one person agrees with her. Clara tried to hide her surprise at that and hesitantly nodded "Er, yeah, I should think so. It's in there, is it?" She looks around before looking back at Maisie. "Okay I have these friends, who have this knack at getting in locked places they shouldn't. Do you want to come with me, see if we can find them?" She's automatically silenced when Maisie slams the heel of her shoe into the door key pad and she shorts it out., the icon on it can make its mind up and the door opens. Fallon would call that being resourceful "Or you could do that because that works, too."Clara sighed and follows Maisie into the room and the door closes behind them.
Back with the Doctor and Fallon.
Perkins certainly did fill them in, with a bit more information on the recent happenings on the space train as Fallon keeps calling it, they made their way into the Lounge and slid in next to a middle aged man who was sitting alone in one of the booths. He was sitting reading a book peacefully when he looked up at the two of them in front of him. "Hi there.. Fallon and The doctor" The man goes to speak and Fallon cuts him off as she continues to talk. "Uh hi yeah we know who you are and what you do, let's move on" The doctor glances at her, his eyes full of mirth "and you say I'm Rude" Fallon rolls her eyes slightly and the doctor turns back to the man "So Emil , What's the most interesting thing about the Foretold?"
The man looks at the both of them flabbergasted. "I'm sorry.. what? I don't believe we have met." Fallon gives the man an impatient look "I literally just introduced us, we Know you are Emil Moorhouse, professor of alien mythology." Fallon leans on the table before continuing "So. You know. The Foretold. Mythical mummy. Legend has it that if you see it, you're a dead man or well woman doesn't seem picky on the gender" The man Emil clears his throat. "Yes, I know what it is."
The doctor stares at him "like my wife just asked, the most interesting thing about the Foretold. Go." Fallon decided to just let go of him calling her wife for the sake of finding out more information but he really needs to stop that.
"Er.." the directness of the both of them made him stumbled over at first "well, it would have to be the time limit given before it kills you. I can't think of another myth where it's so specific. How does it go?" He thought for a moment or two.
Fallon shrugs "Well we don't know that's why we are here asking you." She quipped back a bit sarcastically.
"Er, The number of evil twice over. They that bear the Foretold's stare have sixty six seconds to live." he finishes off given them both a look.
The doctor gives him a patronising smile. "No, no, no. Nice try." He shakes his head. "Very atmospheric. But that's not it. Try again. "
His eyes widen at the reply and he then raises an eyebrow at them now suspicious of the duo. "A cynical man might say that you were trying to pump me for information."
Fallon sighs a little "I mean you aren't wrong on that, but no harm no foul right? I mean you professors are meant to want to share information." The Professor nodded he couldn't really disagree with that.
Before the man could say anything else, the doctor started on one of his many ranting speeches that seem to follow him in all regenerations she's met so far she notes. "The myth of the Foretold first appeared over five thousand years ago. In some stories, there is a riddle or secret word that is supposed to make it stop. Some characters try to bargain with it, offer riches, confess sins. All to no avail." Fallon watches him open the silver cigarette case he has taken from his jacket pocket. At first she's confused he smokes? But when she sees him open it she rolls her eyes of course should have seen the weirdness of that coming. The doctor offers the professor a jellybaby from the case and a smile tugs at the corners of his mouth at Fallons reaction before offering her one, she takes one and pops it in her mouth with a smile she won't say no to candy.
"Well, you certainly know a little mythology." he admitted as he looked down at the jelly baby he took.
The doctor hummed in agreement "I know a lot. Because, from time to time, it turns out to be true." Fallon can't help but nod at that truth demons, witches, angels.. god and well now aliens all real and true.
Somewhere else in the Train - The Galley
The lights flicker, and the clock starts to ticking, The mummy appears and one of the chefs see it. "What is that?" He exclaimed to his friend. "What" the second chef asks him a little confused at his friends reaction. "What is that?" He asked again as the mummy stares at him.
Back in the Lounge with the doctor and Fallon.
The Professor looks at them both "But that's the great appeal, isn't it?"
Back at the Galley.
The chef starts to panic, "Can't you see?" He shouts at the other chef. The unfortunate chef tries to use trolleys to stop the mummy from getting to him, but it's not working, the second chef is still confused at the sudden breakdown of his friend "What are you talking about?"
"Get it away!"
Back with the doctor and Fallon.
The professor continued excitedly "Earth legends are such dry, dusty affairs, and always fiction. But up here, in the stars, anything's possible. That's why I chose this field, to be honest. Hoping one day I might meet a real monster." Fallon scoffs a little "it ain't all that cracked up to be" Fallon states speaking from past experience at everything she's faced.
"But you still haven't answered my riddle. What's the most interesting thing about the Foretold?" The doctor sighed interrupting before Fallon could tell the man some hard truths.
The Professor stares at the strange duo once again, hoping that they will disappear soon and leave him be to read his damn book. "Well, you can't run from it, that's for sure. There are accounts of people trying, but it never works. No matter how far you run, it's always right there behind you."
Back at the Galley.
The second chef is trying to calm the other chef down "There's nothing there!" But it doesn't seem to be working the first chef grabs the other one "Can't you see it?" The second chef pulls the panicked ones hands off him when a third chef approaches after hearing all the commotion "calm down." He tells the panicked chef firmly but the first chef doesn't listen he grabs a big knife and waves it at the approaches mummy. "Get it away! Get it away!"
The second chef looks at the third one "What's wrong with him?" He doesn't get to answer that when suddenly the panicked first chef retreats into the freezer and shuts the door shouting "Get it away! Get it away!" The third chef bangs on the freezer door "Stumpy, open the door." The second chef agrees and added in "Yeah, open the door."
The panicked chef has not noticed yet that the mummy is inside the freezer behind him. "He's unhinged!" The second chef exclaimed. The mummy reaches for the chefs head and he screams and falls to the ground.
"No! Stumpy!"
Back with the doctor and Fallon.
"Nope. Even colder." The doctor replied back flatly.
With a frustrated sigh the professor holds his hands up in surrender this is getting him nowhere "All right, I give up, you tell me."
"Mrs Pitt, the old woman who died." The doctor stated.
The professor gives a confused look. "She died of old age. Nothing supernatural."
"Maybe it wasn't supernatural, maybe it was more alien" Fallon mutters out, the professor gives her weird look back.
"No" The doctor states shaking his head. "That's my answer."
"Her death?"
The doctor fights the urge to roll his eyes "No. The fact that you were here to witness it."
There's a bit of a commotion behind them and Fallon clocks as Quell led three of his men away looking rather annoyed.
"Excuse us, Professor." The doctor told the professor before grabbing Fallon by the hand and leading her away, as they walked she speaks up whispering to the doctor. "You know it is rather fishy a Professor with his knowledge on a myth that suddenly just happens to being on this space train, with all these other clever people, so it makes you wonder what is the reason for it.. sick pleasure, weird Curiosity or evil revenge?" The doctor smiles at Fallon and suddenly presses a kiss to her forehead "clever, lovely girl, that's what we are here to find out."
They continued to make their way through the small crowd and out of the lounge, before making their way through the adjoining corridor.
Back at the Galley
The body of the chef is scanned in The freezer as Captain Quell lays down the law to the surviving staff. "It was a heart attack. And if I hear anyone spreading rumours to the contrary, they'll be getting off at the next station, termination papers in hand. Are we clear?" He tells them all firmly last thing he needs is this getting out.
He watches the body of the chef is zipped up into the body bag.
Back with Clara
Clara is standing taking the door lock apart, moving some wires around, as best as she can considering the only light she has is through from the grill over a window. "Do you know what you're doing?" Maisie asked her while watching her work.
Clara shrugged "Nope" she admitted. "But I do need to be slightly more skilled than a high-heeled shoe."
Maisie stood next to her but stared in across the room at the only thing that was inside; a bronze sarcophagus. "Do you ever wish bad things on people?" She asked absentmindedly.
"Oh, yeah. All the time." Clara assured her before scowling at the lock. "Definitely including, Whoever designed this door, for a start."
"She wasn't really my mum." Maisie confessed. "She just made me call her that. She was my gran. Do you know why I wanted to see her body?"
Clara glances over at Maisie giving her a puzzled look.before answering "Because you loved her very much and were missing her?"
"No!" she giggles. "You obviously never met her. No, I just felt really guilty. Like I'd been picturing her dying for years. Like a daydream. Not really meaning it. At least, I don't think I did. But now, it just feels like I made this happen."
"Hey, listen. You didn't do anything wrong." Clara stops fiddling with the lock and rests a hand on her shoulder. "Difficult people, they can make you feel all sorts of things." Clara looks back at the lock. "My friend Fallon once told me we aren't our thoughts, we are our actions, and that we can choose our actions.. and besides you didn't do it. You didn't kill her. She just died."
Maisie contemplates her words for a moment "Are you sure about that?" She asked frowning.
They turn to look at a large iron maiden or sarcophagus thing standing at the far end of the strong room. It has a large red shiny oval where the head would be and a single small red light with an ominous feel to it.
Back with the Doctor and Fallon
They had managed to make it through the crowd of people and hurried after the captain of the train, stopping him before he disappeared into the office.
"I think we need to talk." The doctor stated bluntly as he accosted Quell in the corridor making the man turn around towards them with a frown. "This matter does not concern the passengers." He replied back to the doctor rather gruffly.
"We're not passengers." The doctor stated firmly as he pulled out the psychic paper that she seen his ten self use before. "We are your worst nightmare." He hands the paper over to Quell to look at.
"mystery shoppers" Quell groaned as he read the psychic paper. "Oh great" Fallon raised an eyebrow at that and glances over to look at the psychic paper but it was a little blurry for her, she can't help wonder why it's blurry when she hears the doctors voice in her head. 'Explain later lovely'
The doctor takes the paper back "Really? That's your worst?" He shrugged "Okay, we're a mystery shoppers. My wife could do with an extra pillow, she likes her comfort and I'm very disappointed with your breakfast bar...and all of the dying."
Fallon nods "yeah it's a bummer.. the dying I mean not the other stuff." She states just to be clear, Quell gives her a weird look before he sighs and leads them both into the office. Fallon glanced around the office, she clocked on the wall a framed Certificate of Bravery awarded to Capt. Hector Quell by United Galaxy Tours. Hmm interesting she ponders for a moment. She's brought out her thoughts hearing Quell speak as he pours a few glasses of alcohol for them "This is not exactly within your job description." Quell stated frowning.
Quell went to pass a glass to the doctor but he declined, Fallon happily took her glass from him but she doesn't get a chance to drink it, before it touches her lips the doctor whips it away from her and sits it down, she sighs thinking is this going to become an ongoing theme, she doesn't realise she's projected the thought to him and he smirks sending back a 'yes' to her. She doesn't get the chance to retaliate as he turns his stern gaze on Quell. "Come on, Captain." The doctor stated rolling his eyes. "Where would we all be if we all followed our job descriptions, hmm? Good question. Glad you asked." He answered, himself Fallon noticed. "In your case, you'd be doing something instead of climbing inside a bottle."
Fallon cringed a little knowing a man like Quell probably wouldn't like that reply and she was right when his jaw stiffened. "I have followed the procedure for accidental death to the letter."
"Hmm I didn't know covering deaths up came under procedure for accidental death" Fallon mutters. Quells jaw tensed when she said that, it tensed even more when the doctor hummed "Yes, I'm sure you have." He waved it off. "And I'm sure you do just enough of your job to avoid complaints."
At that Quell slammed his drink down on the table. "You two don't know anything about me!"
The doctor looked around the room a little bored and then snorted as he started to rant. "Wounded in battle, honourable discharge. And this is just a guess, but I think you've had the fight knocked out of you. You expected this to be a cushy desk job where you could put your head down until retirement. Well, I'm sorry. As of today, that dream is over."
"There is no evidence of any attack or other parties" Quell tried to argue and that just made Fallon scoff and she leaned forward. "Just because there is no evidence doesn't mean there isn't something strange going on, and it should be you who investigates it to the best of your ability, for the benefit of your customers that have put their trust into you." Fallon stands up. "No just wait until more bodies drop, why are we still talking to you, you are useless." Fallon turns to walk out the office door.
The doctor has to remind himself she's a younger Fallon, but damn does he want to kiss her for that display, there's always something about Fallon when she cuts deep so passionately. He glanced at Quell who sat there looking gobsmacked, he wanted to laugh at the look on his face but instead he follows out after Fallon.
As Fallon made her way into the corridor she near runs in to Perkins who was waiting outside with rolls of papers "Er, passenger manifest, plan of the train and a list of stops for the past six months." He said as he handed them over to the doctor who is suddenly standing next to Fallon.
She raises an eyebrow at his quick work, the doctor voices his agreement "Quick work, Perkins." He complimented but with a slight hint of caution in his tone Fallon notes "Maybe too quick."
Perkins give him a dry look. "Yes, sir. I'm obviously the mummy. Or perhaps I was already looking into this."
Fallon can't help but smile at that, and she glances at the doctor as they walk, Perkins not far behind them "Oh he's funny, can we take him as an extra?"
"No" The Doctor bluntly replied back and Fallon sighs "why not? I like his dry sarcastic wit."
The doctor rolls his eyes "because you provide me enough of that wit to last me many lifetimes." He grumbles slightly under his breath "that he really needs to learn to say no to her firmly." He looks back at her. "Fine we can offer him a quick trip." Fallon smile brightens and she turns and gives Perkins a thumbs up and he can't help but smile at her excitement.
A smile tugs at the doctors lips at her actions, he sure can't grumble when the outcome is her smiling like that.
Back with Clara and Maisie in the strong room.
They are both sitting in the room with the sarcophagus leaning their backs against the wall. Maisie turns and gives Clara a curious look "This Fallon and Doctor you keep talking about, what are they to you?"
Clara makes a face "They aren't anything to me.."
"Oh you mean you're just friends." Maisie nodded her head, Clara sighs "Yeah, Of course we're just friends." She pauses for a moment when she remembers why she's on this trip with them. "Oh Well, not even friends, not any more."
Maisie gives her a look. "Well, that clearly isn't true, you all came here together did you not?"
Clara sighs again frustrated "Look, we, er, we knocked about together, we travelled and now we're stopping. This is a, I don't know, goodbye to the good times?"
Maisie looks at her questioningly at her. "Were the good times all like this?" She motions around the room they are stuck in and Clara can't help but laugh a little as she thinks about all the previous times with Fallon and the doctor. "Yeah. Now that you mention it"
Back with the doctor and Fallon in the engineer room
In the engine room, The doctor, Fallon, Perkins and the Moorhouse who they collected on their way past were all now watching the CCTV screen as Mrs Pitt died. Fallon watched as the old lady get irritated and annoyed at what she thought was someone dressed up as a monster, although none of them could see exactly what she was seeing, they watched as she started panicking, throwing her arms around and screaming, before she slumped back in her chair and fell silent. The doctor clicked his stopwatch. "Sixty six seconds. It fits the myth." Fallon nods as she eats some fries that they also collected on the way by. "Did you see the lights flicker?" Fallon mused, The doctor nodded he did notice that himself as well.
The Professor Moorhouse stared at the screen and hummed a "mmm yes"
"Yeah, the lights went in the kitchen as well just before the chef saw it." Perkins adds in.
The professor thoughtfully rubbed his chin. "In all of the accounts, conventional weapons have no effect on the Foretold. It's immortal, unstoppable, unkillable."
Fallon rolled her eyes at that, she knows from experience nothing is unstoppable. Fallon, The doctor and Perkins share a look before Perkins pipes up "Can we get a new expert?"
Back in the strong room with Maisie and Clara
Clara had been telling Maisie everything that happened on the last trip with the Doctor and Fallon, and what happened on the moon, it felt good being able to let it all out considering they were on a train in space, so she's sure eggs being mistaken for moons weren't an uncommon thing. "Oh they were both wrong." Maisie commented and Clara smiled "Yes. Yes." She agreed happy that someone else thought the same. "Yes they both certainly were."
"He was high-handed and, and thoughtless and, and, and arrogant beyond belief and she also sounded completely nonchalant and uncaring, to let you go through something like that."
"Exactly" Clara nodded.
"And then you got on a train with them." Maisie stated and Clara was a little taken back not expecting that response from her.
"I-I was saying goodbye, you can't end it on a slammed door."
Maisie scoffed "Yes, you can." She argued. "Anyone can do it. People do it all the time. Except, of course, when they can't."
Clara glanced away at her words and Maisie sighed "Life would be so much simpler if you liked the right people. People you're supposed to like. But then, I guess there'd be no fairy tales."
Clara frowned as she thought about the whole situation, she wanted to be with Danny completely, she felt that he was the right person for her in a way, he was real. and that Fallon and The doctor were a whirlwind fairytale, she was mad at the doctor for the previous adventure, but deep down she was more hurt at Fallon, she knew Fallon would go with the doctor no matter what, but the way she was just so unfazed and uncaring about the choice she was left to make, that it was nothing to do with her, it was like she completely disregarded that she was once human. Ever since she met the Doctor and Fallon, Fallon was amazing with her and okay maybe she had a small crush on Fallon, and the doctor brought the rush of excitement she has never felt before until she started travelling with them. Could she give it up? Does she need to make that choice? Could she give up them?
Back In the Engineer's room with the doctor, Fallon and the others.
Fallon finds herself dosing off while she watches the doctor work through all the papers on the desk, her head lols onto the doctors shoulder, when it does he glances down at her and smiles slightly happy she's felt comfortable enough to do that with him. Professor Moorhouse was sleeping in a chair, and Perkins is slumped at his desk.
Fallon had been sleeping for a little while when there was a beeping sound and the blinds are raised. She opens her eyes and notices her head is on his shoulder with his jacket draped over her, she lifts her head up and he gives her a smile "Morning Lovely" She gives him a sheepish smile and passes his jacket back to him "sorry and thanks." She mutters to him and he smiles gently and runs a finger down her cheek and she shivers involuntarily, he smirks feeling her emotions "anything for you lovely." He turned back and takes the intercom phone off the wall and sonics it, he disconnects it's cord from the wall and uses it to call Clara putting it on loud as he does.
"Doctor?" Clara exclaims down the phone.
"Wake up." He replied down the phone. "Sleepy-head. Time for breakfast. Knowing this train, it'll taste amazing."
"Fallon, Doctor, please I'm in trouble." Fallon rolled her eyes "of course it wouldn't be an adventure with one of your companions getting into trouble."
The doctor smirk at Fallons comment, before replying back to Clara "Can't even get that right, huh?"
"Doctor-" Clara tried sounding frustrated over him not as usual not listening.
"Bad food on trains is traditional." He informed her.
Clara groans "urgh Doctor listen, Fallon get him to Li-"
Fallon can tell something isn't right and goes to speak but she's also cut of by the doctor. "Listen, there's been another mummy murder. So our last hurrah"
"Doctor" Fallon says firmly to get his attention and he pauses for a moment and furrows his eyebrows down at her. "Just...became a bit more...interesting."
"I'm trapped!!" Clara finally shouts down the phone, that makes the doctor freeze, he grabs Fallons hand and he rushes out the room just as the others wake up. "What? Where are you?" He asked as he leads himself and Fallon to where she is.
"Clara!" The doctor shouted as he hammers on the strong room door. "Is that you?" Fallon couldn't help wonder how she managed to get trapped in there and then she spots a heel in a keypad. Well that would do it I suppose.
"Yes." Clara called from inside the room. "Yes. Hello. Can you hear us?" Us? Fallon can't help but wonder.
The doctor tries to sonic the lock, to get the door open but he leaps back when he gets a shock. Fallon couldn't help but start to feel a dread wash over her at that. "Ow! Computer, can you open the door, please?" The doctor exclaimed.
"Call me Gus. I'm afraid this door can only be opened by executive order."
"Oh. Forget it." He said as he attempted to scan the door with the screwdriver, but it stutter then stops working. "Oh. Now the stupid sonic Screwdriver's not working"
Fallon gives a worried look at that and Clara shouted back "What? What do you mean, it's not working? Why?"
The doctor fiddled with the lock. "I don't know. Some sort of a Suppression field, I would guess. And it has to be a guess because, as I say, the stupid sonic screwdriver's not working. What are you even Doing in there?"
"Well, I was looking for you two, Mr and Mrs Nothing To Worry About." Clara snaps back not thinking about what she just said.
Fallon didn't register what she said , as she was feeling weird, like something was about to happen, The doctor glances at her when she accidentally projects those feelings to him. "What were we supposed to do Clara, wake you up?" The doctor keeps a slight eye on Fallon. "Drag you out of bed. Because we had a hunch? Besides I had Fallon and you said you didn't want to do this anymore."
"Look, look, please," Clara sighed. "can we just not do this now? I think we might not be alone in here... There's a sarcophagus."
Both TimeLords glance at each other, "a what now?" Fallon asked. "A sarcophagus" Clara repeated
that's not good, the doctor frowned no wonder Fallon was feeling the way she was feeling there. "Is it in there?"
Inside the strong room The light on the front of the sarcophagus changes from red to green, there is the sound of air escaping and it starts to open. "I think we might just be about to find out. Turns out the sonic is working..." Clara trails off. "Just not on the door we need."
Their attention was drawn to the flickering lights, just like they did previously with Mrs Pitt and the chef... a very likely sign that the foretold was getting ready once again.
"Clara." Fallon called through the door. "What's happening?"
The doctor continues to work frantically on the lock to get the door open. There's silence when Clara's voice comes through again. "It's okay." She called to them. "Fallon, Doctor, it's okay. It's er, it's full of bubble wrap."
"Wait.. what? Bubble wrap?" Fallon questioned, she didn't expect that one. "But the lights." The doctor commented it didn't make sense. "If it's not there then where is it." Fallon mutters and the doctor looks at her "good question." but before they can dig any deeper into the matter, Quell appears coming towards them with two other armed guards pointing a gun at them, The doctor takes step closer in front of Fallon "You two, move away from the door, I won't ask twice."
"Our friend is inside...with someone else." Fallon tried to argue but was rudely cut of by Quell. "Then they're in trouble, too. I spoke to Head Office. There is no mystery shoppers. You two are not even on the passenger list."
The doctor sighs as handcuffs are put on him "Clara we're going to have to call you back." He calls out and then he gives Quell a look. "You know, I'm going to have to mark you down for this."
Quell glared at the doctor "You are not a mystery shopper. For all I know, you're the one behind the killings." That makes Fallon scoff and she snapped at him "you really are pathetic, how many more are going to die before you actually stop and do something about it?" His jaw tensed at that and he gripped her arm hard when putting the handcuffs on her and she winced slightly. "Oi don't touch her like that." Quell glanced at the doctor uneasily at his tone and loosens his grip on Fallon.
Quell leads the two of them into the lounge where a guard is shooting at something only he can see. "Get back! Stay back!"
"What do you think you're doing, man? The captain demanded from the man as the man continued to shoot breaking glasses on the tables, as he begged at something no one else could see apart from him. "Please, please! Stop! No" The man is one is knees begging "Get up, man. That's an order!" Quell demands of him, before the guard collapsed and a doctor in a white coat comes over and checks him for a pulse and he looks up and shakes his head.
Quell glances over at Doctor and then looks at Fallon "It turns out it's three. The amount of people that had to die before I stop and decide to do something about it."
