"Dinner, huh?" Freya asked as she sat with Elena in the living room. Elena had explained to her that her siblings now knew about their training and they wanted to meet her.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I know it's a lot to ask. My siblings are insanely overprotective, and my mother's continued pursuit of us only makes it worse," Elena said.
Freya shook her head. "It's not too much to ask. I have younger siblings too. If the opportunity presented itself, I would do everything I could to protect them." She had actually hoped to be reunited with her siblings when she woke up. It was probably silly of her. It had been a hundred years. She should've known they wouldn't be around New Orleans anymore.
"Oh. I didn't realize you had siblings," Elena said. Freya never mentioned her family much, other than to say that her mother and aunt were both psychotic. She supposed she didn't actually know too much about Freya.
"Yeah, I'm the oldest with seven younger siblings," Freya said. Only five of her siblings were still alive, but she knew about the other two. She knew about Henrik and the baby that died. Dahlia had been furious when she found out that Esther's baby hadn't survived. That was her last chance of continuing the generations. Honestly, it might have been a blessing in disguise. Dahlia had been planning to take that child. She didn't trust Esther after she'd turned the others into vampires. That had terrified Freya. She'd been trying to think of some way that she could save her baby sister. Finding out that she had died had been painful for Freya, but it was also a relief. That baby would've had a horrible life in the hands of Dahlia. She would've wished for death before too long.
"That's funny. I'm the youngest with seven older siblings. I also have a younger brother," Elena said.
"Ah. So, I'll have to prove myself to seven older brothers and sisters. That's a tall order," Freya said in an amused tone.
"Four," Elena corrected. "Two of my older siblings are dead and the other we don't speak to. He's a dick."
"Huh," Freya said in deep thought. That was interesting. She and Elena had much in common. They both had horrible mothers and they both had siblings that died. "Anyway, I'd be happy to have dinner with your family. I consider reassuring them part of my duty to you as a witch."
"Thanks. Um, there's something you should know before you come over. My siblings are all vampires. That's why they don't have magic," Elena said. She figured she should tell Freya that right away. Freya wasn't biased against vampires, but it wasn't something that should be thrust on her either.
Freya frowned. The coincidences just kept on coming with this girl, almost to the point where it didn't seem possible. Her siblings were also vampires. It had to be a coincidence though. Besides, their lives weren't completely the same. Elena had another brother as well.
"Is that going to be a problem?" Elena asked. Freya hadn't said anything for a few minutes. She worried that this was a deal breaker for her. Freya didn't hate vampires, but she might be less inclined to trust them.
"What? No. Sorry, I got lost in thought. No, it's not a problem. I guess you just caught me by surprise. You didn't mention that your siblings were vampires before," Freya commented.
"We don't trust very easily. I've started to trust you, but my siblings don't. That's why they want to meet you. We're on the run. That makes it even harder to trust people," Elena said.
Freya nodded. She could understand that. She knew what it was like not to trust many people. "I get it. Trust isn't an easy thing to give away in a position like yours. Anyway, I'd be glad to meet your family. Just know that if I'm attacked, I will defend myself."
Elena nodded. "I wouldn't expect anything less. I'll make sure they behave themselves."
"Great. Well, in the meantime, we have a lot of work to do. I let you take yesterday off, but we have a lot of ground to make up," Freya said before standing up.
Elena groaned. "You remind me of my brother. Most of my last year of high school, I was essentially kept prisoner in the house by my crazy mother until we went on the run, so my older brother taught me. He was a freaking hard ass. Like I said, you're a lot like him." Freya was like Elijah in a lot of ways. She was very serious, like he was, and strict when it came to things like teaching.
Freya chuckled. "Well, thank you, Elena. I'll take that as a compliment. Come on, I'm going to show you a spell or two today."
Elena got up and followed Freya out of the room.

Friday came quickly. Elena was in the dining room getting everything ready for Freya's arrival. She was kind of worried about this. Her siblings could be unpredictable and turn violent at the drop of a hat, and when she said her siblings, she mostly meant Nik.
Elijah made it to the dining room first. "Hello, Elena. When is your friend due to arrive."
"Any minute. I'm just checking to make sure everything is perfect," Elena said.
"She's just a random witch," Kol said as he entered the room with Klaus. "It's not as if you've invited royalty to dinner."
"Well, she rules over the witches in the Quarter, so it's pretty close. Besides, she's my friend," Elena said. She hadn't liked Freya at first, but they got along well now. Elena was quickly considering her a friend.
"Friend? Weren't you complaining yesterday because she made study and practice so much?" Kol asked with an amused grin.
"Yeah, so. I complained about Elijah when he was tutoring me too," Elena said.
"Yes, I believe you called me a slave driver," Elijah said.
"I called you a lot of other things too," she said with a smirk.
Rebekah soon walked into the room. "Let's get this over with. I have plans tonight."
They all soon heard the doorbell.
"Alright, everyone is going to be nice, right?" Elena asked. She looked right at Nik while she asked.
Klaus let out an offended noise. "Why am I always the one that gets looked at like that?"
"Because we know you, Nik," Rebekah said.
"We will all be on our best behavior, Elena. Let your friend in," Elijah said.
Elena nodded before leaving the room and going to the front door. She found Freya on the other side. "Hey. Come in."
"Hi. Thank you," Freya said before stepping inside. "You look nervous. Don't be. Everything will be fine."
"You don't know my siblings," Elena mumbled.
"No, but I get overprotectiveness. Like I said, I would be the same way with my own siblings, and I will be like that with you and every other witch in the Quarter," Freya assured her.
"Alright, let's get this over with," Elena said before leading her friend to the dining room, where her siblings were all waiting.
Freya stopped dead as soon as she entered the room and got a look at everyone. She was staring at her own siblings. They looked exactly the same as they did a hundred years ago. Not that they wouldn't. They were vampires after all. They didn't age.
"Freya, these are my brothers and sister. Elijah, Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah," Elena said as she pointed to each of her siblings. "Everybody, this is Freya."
Freya was still frozen in shock. Elena addressed these people as her siblings, but they were Freya's siblings, which meant that so was Elena. So many things started to make sense. There were so many similarities between Freya and Elena, starting with the evil mother thing. Freya definitely concurred with that now, not that she disagreed before. Then there was the fact that they both had vampires for siblings. Elena was her sister. Freya didn't know how yet, but she was.
Kol was the first one to react as he took a step forward. "We've met, haven't we, darling? You were at a Christmas party that we threw a hundred years ago."
"A hundred years ago? How old are you?" Elena asked Freya.
Freya pinched the bridge of her nose. "Very. This is going to teach me to stop believing in coincidences."
"What the bloody hell is going on?" Klaus asked as he stepped forward and narrowed his eyes at the blonde witch. "Who are you?"
Freya took a deep breath and pulled herself together. "Okay, well, this dinner is going to get a little awkward. I'm your sister."
