Chapter 42
Mura walked into Nezu's office, Azalia following close behind. "Sir, it's the Shie Hissaikai." He put the laptop down on his desk. "This should have some more info."
Nezu nodded. "Hm, well then. It seems like I'm going to need to talk with some heroes, and pass this into the right hands. For now, return to the dorms. I'd like to have a talk with Ms Dreamer." Nezu motioned behind him, towards the girl.
Izuku nodded, walking towards the door. When he passed Azalia, he put his hand on her shoulder. "Hear him out. Trust me, he isn't like most other heroes."
Azalia nodded, slightly wanting Izuku to stay there with her as she followed him out with her eyes. Once the door was closed, Azalia was feeling uncomfortable. "Now, Ms Dreamer, I would like you to join us here at UA."
"Why? So you can keep me on a leash?" Azalia crossed her arms, looking way.
Nezu chuckled, shaking his head. "No, nothing like that. Quite the opposite. You see, our world is full of many different kinds of heroes. But too many of them are out there looking only for fame or money, rather than looking out for the well-being of people, as you well know. What people need, what the world needs, is heroes like you or Mura or many of our other students. People who want to help for the sake of helping. It's one of the biggest reasons I began the vigilante program here at UA. To give people that chance to help that they weren't given before, or felt like they couldn't achieve."
Azalia listened to Nezu closely. But she didn't hear any deception. He sounded like he was telling the truth. She didn't know what to think. All the heroes she'd met up to now had been terrible. Out for their own gain. But Nezu just seemed… different.
Before she realized it, she answered. "Okay."
Nezu nodded with a smile. "Well then, you are going to be staying in the class 1-A dorms. Izuku will be watching over you." The door to the office opened and some tired hobo walked in. "This will be your home room teacher, Shota Aizawa. He'll take you to the dorms."
The tired looking man walked up to Azalia. "Come on." He walked out of the room, Azalia following after. As they were walking through the halls, Azalia looked at the walls as they passed the empty classrooms.
During the walk, Aizawa began talking to her. "The only rules you need to worry about is no fighting, curfew is at ten."
Azalia nodded, but kept thinking about the mission she just had with Mura. 'What was that quirk? I thought he was quirkless…' now she was wishing he made time to watch the fight he had with that villain on the news.
——
Arriving at the dorms, Azalia saw all of the other students were talking to each other in the common room. She felt a nervous feeling rise in her. "All of you, get over here!" Aizawa shouted, getting everyone's attention.
They all came up, waiting for him to tell them what it was he wanted, many of them seeing Azalia, asking each other who the new girl was. "This is your newest classmate. Introduce yourself." He spoke in a disinterested tone.
She stepped up. "I'm Azalia Dreamer."
Aizawa looked around the room, looking over all of the others. "Izuku, she's your charge. Show her to her room, it's 2-2." He turned around and walked out of the dorm, making her feel slightly lost.
Everyone surrounded her, asking a torrent of questions. She couldn't even say a word with all that was happening. Eventually, Izuku pushed his way to the front. "That's enough! You're overwhelming the girl." Then he turned to her. "Let's get you to your room."
She nodded, quickly following Mura up the stairs. It wasn't a long trip. She was on the second floor, the second door from the stairs.
"This is yours. It's directly across from me. I'll let you get-"
"No," Izuku was cut off from leaving. "There's… a lot I want to talk to you about. Please."
Izuku relented, following the girl into her room. "What did you want to know?"
She sighed, looking Izuku in the eye. "What was that quirk you used? From what I know, you're quirkless. Was that all a lie?!" She felt her temper raising quickly.
Izuku lowered his head. "I should have figured this would come up." He sighed, pacing a bit, as if debating with himself. "Fine. I guess you deserve to know. But you can't tell anyone." Azalia was taken aback, but nodded. "I was quirkless. For my whole life, I didn't have a quirk. It wasn't until I came to UA. I was fighting another student, who I had a history with. He had been given a quirk called One for All. After our fight, the quirk forced itself out of him, forming itself into a small marble like object. I brought it to my master to see if he knew what it was.
He told me what he could tell. It wasn't much but more than I could figure out by myself. That night, I had a dream, the previous wielders of the quirk judged me worthy of it. That morning, I shaped a space for it in Muramasa, my sword." The sword appeared on his back. He grabbed it, showing it to the girl. She looked at it, seeing a small rainbow gemstone placed in the cross-guard. "It's an ancient quirk, from back during the original rise of quirks."
Azalia was speechless. She turned around, looking out her window as she took in all the information. 'Ancient quirk? One for All?' "Why did you have to take it?" She suddenly asked.
"A single man. A single, power hungry madman. All for One." Azalia looked back over her shoulder, looking at Izuku.
"I've heard that name."
Izuku nodded. "Yeah. He was all over the news not long ago. He caused All Might to go into retirement. He's killed every single previous wielder of One for All just to get his hands on it."
"But… you taking it means he…" Azalia kept her eyes locked on Izuku, fear building up in them.
Izuku shook his head. "He's currently in Tartarus. As it stands right now, he's not a danger to anyone."
"B-but, what if he escapes."
"He escapes and my team and I go after him. Simple as."
"Y-you're team?" She'd never heard of Mura fighting with anyone.
Izuku ran a hand through his hair. "I'll introduce you later. For now, get accustomed to the dorm and get some rest. You're probably gonna need it." Izuku turned around, leaving the room.
Azalia was left alone in the room. She looked around, but her mind was swirling at the influx of information. She sat down on the bed, thinking about everything.
Izuku closed the door to Azalia's room, seeing his sister and Katsumi outside. "What are you two doing here?"
"We wanted to meet the new girl," Izumi said, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Can we?"
"I mean, I don't mind. It's up to her. She's not the biggest fan of heroes though, so she might not trust you right now."
Katsumi crossed her arms. "Well, why does she seem to trust you so much?"
"Mura." Izumi and Katsumi looked at each other. Izuku's stomach growled. "Anyways, I'm gonna make myself some food. Haven't eaten yet today." Izuku headed downstairs as Izumi and Katsumi were thinking.
——
Izuku was getting dressed for class as the events from yesterday ran through his mind. "Shie Hisakai…" As he finished up, his door opened.
"Izuku?" Izumi's voice brought Izuku back.
"Izumi, what's up?"
Izumi walked in, shrugging her shoulders. "You were taking longer to get ready than normal. I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
Izuku waved off her worries. "Yeah, don't worry about me. I'm just thinking about some stuff."
"You mean what happened yesterday?"
"Kinda. More about who the group was. But I'll think about that later. Is our new classmate up?"
"Oh. I'm… not sure. She hasn't been out of her room."
Izuku nodded, walking out of his room. "I'll make sure." Izuku walked across the hall to Azalia's room and knocked on her door. "Hey, you up?" Izuku heard trudging footsteps heading towards the door.
The door opened, and Azalia was standing there, mostly dressed but was looking like Aizawa. "I'll be out in a couple minutes." She shut the door, leaving Izuku alone in the hallway.
"Alright then." Izuku made his way downstairs, seeing his other classmates talking. He walked into the kitchen and began to make himself some toast.
With buttered toast in hand, Izuku looked around the room, still not seeing Azalia. Izumi and Katsumi walked down the stairs, laughing and chatting. "You two seen Azalia?"
They looked at each other before looking back and shaking their heads. Izuku sighed, deciding to wait for the girl, since she didn't know her way around school yet. By the time his toast was eaten, most everyone had left for class, they only one to stay behind with Izuku was Kaina.
"You don't have to stay behind." Izuku said.
Kaina chuckled at him. "I need to in order to be an alibi. We have two vigilantes now. If both of them show up to class late, some might think your planning something but if a teacher were there, those rumors will have less ground."
Izuku groaned a bit. "Yeah, you've got a point."
Kaina raised an eyebrow. "Something wrong? You're not acting normal."
"It's the Shie Hisakai. I read a bit of what was on that laptop I brought back."
"And you feel like you can't do anything." Izuku nodded. Kaina sighed, thinking to herself for a second. "I'll ask around and see if there might be a way for you to help. Who knows, you might be able to take your work study with the hero behind the operation."
Izuku smiled in appreciation. "Thanks Kaina."
Behind a wall on the stairs, Azalia was listening. 'He's… worried about it too?' Azalia stood there thinking for a couple seconds before walking around the corner.
"Ah, ready to go to class?" Izuku asked.
Azalia huffed a bit. "I guess. What are the teachers like?"
"They'll treat you like any other student like they did me if that's what you're worried about." Azalia nodded. "Trust me, most of the people here won't care. Some may even think it's cool you were a vigilante. Personally, it'll be nice to have a fellow vigilante here. Now come on, let's go."
Izuku led Azalia through the school halls with Kaina following behind.
