Damian stood as usual with his arms crossed. After a week of working there, Seth already knew he didn't like Damian one bit. There was something about the taller man that made Seth uncomfortable. Seth was about to walk past Damian when Damian held out his arm and stopped Seth.
"I was wrong about you, kid. You lasted a whole week," Damian said.
Seth just stared at Damian. Damian removed his arm and took off his sunglasses so Seth could look him in the eyes.
"We're starting to bet on how long you'll actually last. Kevin is the one with most faith in you. He says a whole month," Damian said.
"Why are you like this?" Seth asked.
"Like what? Honest?" Damian asked.
"I was thinking annoying but whatever word suits you, I guess," Seth said.
Damian let out a laughter that didn't seem friendly at all. He stopped laughing from second to second and instead glared Seth down.
"For some reason she's taken a liking to you. I don't understand why," Damian said.
"It's my natural charm," Seth said.
"Sure thing, kid," Damian said.
"Can you cut it with the kid thing?" Seth asked.
"No," Damian said. "Here's the thing, kid. We were all new once. We were all the flavor of the month. Have you fucked her yet?"
"What? No!" Seth said loudly.
"She keeps you waiting, eh?" Damian smirked. "I only had to wait two days. She jumped into my bed so fast and fucked the living hell out of me for a month. And then she stopped. Something new came along. None of us are special, and neither are you."
"What makes you think I want to fuck her?" Seth asked.
"Everyone does," Damian said. "A woman with that amount of power makes any man fall to his knees and beg for her to use him any way she wants."
Seth shook his head and walked past Damian. He had heard enough and didn't want to be anywhere near the other man.
"Why don't you ask her about Finn who's coming to dinner tonight?" Damian called after Seth. "He might be the reason she hasn't crawled into bed with you yet."
Seth continued forward without giving Damian any sort of answer. He had not heard any mention of a Finn yet and suddenly he wanted to know everything about the other man. He walked into the common room and found Petrina sitting in her usual chair.
"Seth," she smiled. "I was just about to come find you."
"Here I am," he said.
He sat down on the chair to her right and smiled back at her.
"I would like for you to stay tonight for dinner. An old business partner is stopping by and I need my most trustworthy man in my corner," she said.
"Finn?" He asked. "Sorry, Damian dropped his name before I came in here."
"Yes, Finn," she answered. "He's an old business partner but I'm not sure how things will end between us tonight. I need you to never be too far away."
"I'm your man," he said.
She broke out in a smile and stood up. She walked behind the chair and gave his shoulder a squeeze.
"I'm gonna tell the kitchen staff to set the table for three tonight," she said. "And don't let Damian get to you. He likes to test people to see if he can find the right buttons to push. He's not your friend but don't go and make him your enemy either. He has a temper and I won't always be there to stop him."
