Hey guys! Crescent Rider here and I'm back with another chapter. Now for those who aren't aware of why I've updated despite it not being selected in the poll is because I've stopped using the poll system and focused on Mass releases instead.
There's going to be a lot of chapters and possibly new stories. But I promise that I'll make it good in the long run.
That is all and enjoy the chapter!
Dining Room
With the dining room filled with all kinds of food, Nadya ate what was suggested by her physician but most of her food only consisted of soup or soft food. Quite normal for a girl of her condition, but what troubled her was the family.
Sitting next to her mother was normal, but having most of the family here is alarming since her older siblings have duties to uphold around the empire. What's more, it has been two weeks since her supposed resurrection.
After finishing her meal, her father would ask the following question, "Nadya, How are you feeling as of late?"
"My body's been improving for the past few days, Father," Nadya answered, "Though something does bother me,"
"What is it?" Adela inquired,
She soon eyed her older siblings, who were sitting across the table, "Why are they here? I thought they'd be out fulfilling their duties in the empire,"
Fallon, Silas, and Sophia stiffened from their seats and their father glanced at them before turning back to Nadya, "They came here to see how you were faring. Though I too am against their wishes to see you, they insisted since nothing major around Vitalis has happened,"
"I see, then I would like to apologize for my tone, and for making you worry for all this time," Nadya apologized,
"No! No! You don't need to apologize to us or anything, we're just glad you're feeling well," Sophia reassured,
"Like that'll convince her," Silas remarked,
"Huh?!" Sophia mouthed in aggression and bumped heads with her twin brother,
Nadya cheekily giggled and remarked, 'They certainly are a wild bunch,'
But then she went on ahead to discuss the important topic of this meeting, "Father, I must ask. Why have you called me this afternoon?"
"Ah, thank you for reminding me," Heinrich would bring forth his servant, and what the latter showed was various letters on a tray,
Nadya would open one of the letters and skim through the contents of the letter. Then she lowers it and sticks her eyes to her father, "What are these?"
"They're letters from our fellow subjects," Heinrich clarified, "Your resurrection had caused quite a stir for both Nobles and Commoners across the empire. The same applies to foreign nations, and grew interested in your supposed resurrection,"
Nadya recognized his low-toned voice and checked every envelope on the tray. That's when she found and frowned at a peculiar letter bearing the Saderan Empire's insignia...
Her mother and siblings took notice and frowned that a rivaling empire would have the galls to send them a letter. She'd gone out of her way to open the letter and learn that the one who had written in Emperor Molt's hand. Or so it would seem as Nadya studied the Saderan Emperor's handwriting and knew the difference between his original writing and a servant's writing.
In other words, nothing about this letter sounded 'sincere' about her resurrection...
"Are there more from Saderan?" Nadya questioned,
"Just two, the one you've read and the one from Emperor's only daughter," Heinrich said,
"There were also two other letters as well, but I burnt both since they belonged to princes of Saderan," Fallon revealed,
Nadya understood, picked up the last envelope of Saderan, opened it, and recognized Pina's handwriting. From what she knows by memory, she and Pina are on good terms but not so good due to the hostility between their respective fathers and Empires.
They aren't friends, but they acknowledge each other's talent and skill in their respective fields. Quite an intriguing relationship that the current Nadya holds in regard.
As for the other letters on the tray, they were noblemen and commoners across the land of Vitalis and they acknowledged Nadya's resurrection as a miracle of the gods. Most of the letters expressed their utmost gratitude for her tireless devotion to cleanse the plague from this land.
The noblemen even offered an enormous amount of wealth that would've made her one of the richest people in the kingdom. And that wealth still remains untouched' today.
'With this much money, I may as well buy my own kingdom,' Nadya remarked,
"So... What do you plan on doing with what they've given you?" Fallon questioned,
"Everything they've given to me is rather recent, so I don't have a plan at the moment," Nadya admitted, "For now, I'll be focusing on improving my health, and learn the answer later,"
"That's good to hear," Heinrich said,
The family eats today's lunch, and Nadya retires to her quarters to improve her health as well as a certain affinity of hers...
One Week Later...
With what Nadya knew of her old life and what she has now, The accumulation of magic from this world combined with the teachings and formulas of her old world soon caused the emergence of her Magic Circuits.
They start from the brain down to her hands and feet...
Then she starts studying the Magic Arts of this world as they were considered simple yet foreign to her. But when it comes to quality, she considered it average compared to the Magic Arts of her old world.
The affinity that's considered strongest with the princess's body would be holy-based magic, a fitting choice for a girl whose devotion is primarily focused on maintaining the health and happiness of her people. They're very source of joy and hope in common everyday life.
However, this inevitably made her a highly valuable target for her enemies and an attempted kidnapping within these very halls was proof of her value to them alive.
She assumed that her death would only lead to her martyrdom and that her people would rise up against any and all opposition across the land.
But this Nadya knew two things, everyone has a limit towards patience, and not everyone shares the same treatment and commodity as her. And if one of the royal family members were killed or taken hostage, Nadya felt she would go against a promise with the deceased princess.
Thus, she swore not to let such an event happen within her homeland and studied long and hard about this world. The same applies to the state and well-being of the empire as a whole.
Nadya superbly learned that technology, governance, economics, and religion were akin to the Era of the Middle Ages. However, the Saderan Empire is much like the Roman Empire while the Vilatis Empire remains truthful to said age.
However, Nadya learned that her empire was undergoing a constant argument on whether they conduct a brand new strategy or improve their level of technology to match the Saderan Empire's strategies
Even with the Scarlet Knight's unwavering reputation, it's only a matter of time before the Saderan Empire launches an attack and Vitalis becomes a vassal state.
'Guess I don't have much choice,' Nadya declared, and called for her maid,
"Is there something you need?" Nadya's maid inquired,
"I would like you to send this request to my father," Nadya requested after she wrote said letter, "It contains a list of items I need and I want them delivered straight into my room as possible,"
"Of course, my lady," Nadya's maid responded,
As her maid left, Nadya pondered to herself on various things such as convincing the faction that opposes modernization, the abundance of needed materials, and a proper workforce to manufacture what she had planned for this empire.
Everything takes time and effort, even for a princess, and several opposing individuals may deem her mad for suggesting such things.
But Nadya was determined to fulfill her promise to the former princess, concocted various projects for the empire, and thought of a simple solution to convince the opposing faction.
One Month Later...
With the conference of Vitalis' Noblemen, half were eagerly waiting for the princess' attendance and presentation. The rest sat on their chairs awaiting said meeting to commence.
Nadya would arrive in time but everyone, even Emperor Heinrich himself, was baffled when she appeared in a vastly different outfit. It consists of a long-sleeved white shirt over an open-sleevel vest, long but custom-made pants of her size, and leather shoes.
This caused the noblemen to murmur amongst themselves, and one of them raised their hand, "Yes?"
"Princess, what are you wearing?" The nobleman inquired, "It's quite unlike you to dress yourself as,"
"A man? I'm glad you speak of it," Nadya finished, "This is but one of many designs I plan to present for today's conference, but such attires is second compared to the main topic of today's conference,"
Nadya would gesture to her maid-turned-assistant wearing much similar attire to push over a cart covered by a large sheet. As her assistant dismisses herself, Nadya steps forth, "As you recall, I died as a victim of the plague and was revived by a miracle. But during that time, I had peered through the future of our empire,"
The noblemen murmured amongst themselves while Heinrich watched from his seat. Afterward, one of the noblemen speaks of her words, "Our future you say? What does it have in store for us?"
Nadya momentarily paused to dramatize their expectations. But with a firm expression, she reveals their preordained fate to all, "In less than a year, the Saderan Empire would bolster their largest force against us and topple our beloved empire to ash,"
The noblemen gasped while Heinrich only widened his eyes at her daughter's boldness, but that was just the beginning as she continued, "Many of our countrymen and women would fall victim by iron and fire and remnants of our existence shall be wiped away from the pages of history. Foreign Nations will cease to know our land and fear the Saderan Emperor's power, that is all,"
There was an intense silence among the crowd of nobles, but after they'd processed her words carefully. It soon led to a full-blown argument among themselves but not towards Nadya. As for Heinrich, he just stared at his daughter and wondered what was going through her head.
From her unusual attire to the claim she's made, and all other activities that occurred in the past month. She would confined to her quarters and catch glimpses of her determined expression.
Whenever he or anyone asks what she is doing, she responds with work and studies. He also asked Nadya's maid/assistant for the details, but she would respond with the same answer in a vastly different tone than his daughter.
It's as if she'd become a different person after her revival...
Before the ceaseless arguments escalate, Nadya takes a deep breath and yells before them all, "Be quiet!"
As soon as the noblemen gasped and turned to her, she continued, "For there is still hope for our empire, and what I'm about to present will not ensure victory but bring about change even the Saderan Empire wouldn't dare to expect,"
"And what would that be?" A nobleman questioned,
Nadya would turn to the sheeted cart, grasp it tightly, and unveil the main topic of her presentation. Everyone looked surprised as they were introduced to four objects on the cart.
Two of which they recognize; a metal war club of some sort and a small shield...
"Princess, what are these things?" The third nobleman asked, and the rest were curious to know what these are,
"Many would say the solution, many would say the future," Nadya elaborated, "I would say both as I've learned of a mining vein far south between our territory and the Saderan Empire. Insignificant compared to other ores, but my presentation today shall prove its true worth to our people,"
Nadya picks up what appears to be a glass capsule and presents it before the nobles, "What I have here is a prototype made in one month. It's small, but its uses are limitless to the right mind and everyday life,"
"And what is its name, Nadya?" Heinrich inquired,
"The ore's name is 'Vitalian Gemstone', and combined with this capsule. It may as well be called a 'Vitalian Power Cell'," Nadya revealed, "Quite fitting since these crystals were unidentified and within our territory,"
The nobles seem to agree with her statement, but they have yet to see it all as one of them raised their hand, "As honorable as it sounds, of what purpose do these things serve our cause? It may as well be a light source since they don't run out nor go out,"
"True, but these crystals resonate unrefined ounces of energy, and records from scholars show that these crystals have yet to run out compared to magic lamps of the Magic Academy," Nadya explained, "With the Vitalian Power Cell, it's a concentrated amount of power that's safe and refined to the common masses,"
"Can you demonstrate its use to us?" Heinrich requested,
Nadya turned to her assistant and gave a notable nod as the latter walked up to the table and picked up the first object that seemed foreign to the noblemen. As this long object is showcased to the people, Nadya properly introduces the invention, "The item in her hands is a prototype ranged weapon. A total of 15 days were spent on its creation and trials, now it is fully functional and effective. Under proper instructions, of course,"
Nadya's assistant then proceeded to load two specific chambers, the first was for a smaller version of the Vitalian power cell, similar to a man's ring finger, and insert it into a sizeable slot. The second possessed the same size as the first, but it goes inside another slot and Nadya's assistant cocked a lever back.
Its sound aroused their attention, and some even leaned forward to know what it looked like...
"For those who wish to see it in action, please follow me outside," Nadya said, "A set of targets was prepared ahead of this meeting,"
With their curiosity piqued, the intrigued noblemen went while wise old noblemen were the last to follow her...
Courtyard
As the nobles watched, Nadya's assistant aimed what appeared to be dummies with Saderan Armor and Shields. The first only has armor, the second only has a shield, and the last has both.
"Fire when ready," Nadya instructed, and her assistant looked down at the iron sights,
She held her breath to steady her aim, then positioned her finger onto the trigger. Then she hears her lady's command, "Fire!"
With just one pull of the trigger, the barrel of the weapon emitted a loud bang that startled the birds as they scattered and their audience covered one of their ears. But they wouldn't dare avert their eyes upon the result of this weapon.
They barely had time to blink as the projectile hit its mark and penetrated the armor of the dummy with ease. This baffled them as something smaller than an arrow managed to move faster than the eye could see, pierce through the armor plate, and leave a clean hole through the dummy.
"The first was known as a 'Vitalian Battery' and the second is a projectile called a 'Rifle Round'," Nadya explained as her assistant ejected the empty case, "But we aren't quite done,"
She turns to her assistant with an enthusiastic look, "Shoot the remaining two dummies please,"
Her assistant nods, loads the second round into the chamber, and cocked the lever. She'd take aim at the shield-wielding dummy, take a breath, and pull the trigger. Once again, the projectile moves faster than the eye, pierces through the shield, and straight to the dummy with the same hole as the first.
For the last dummy, Nadya's assistant ejects the empty case, loads the last round into the chamber, and cocked the lever once more. She'd aimed her rifle at the last dummy, but reminiscences her previous conversation with Nadya.
Flashback
"You want me to test these, My Lady?" Nadya's maid inquired,
"Just this one, the other two prototypes will be tested by the noblemen as a way of currying favor to this idea of mine," Nadya remarked, then placed her hand onto the prototype, "This weapon, on the other hand, only I can trust you with it since you were with me during its production. And with your talent, I'm certain you'll get the hang of it,"
"Still... I feel unsuited for the role," Nadya's maid said, "I am your maid,"
"I know, but much like my family. I trust you as well," Nadya clarified, "From the day you were chosen as my maid, to the day I supposedly died from the plague. You remained loyal to my side, and your loyalty must be well-rewarded,"
Nadya stands before her maid, "You are my most trusted friend, and I would be honored to have you test this for the nobles to see, Celia,"
Nadya's maid was at a loss for words, then she eyed on the prototype on her lady's desk. She indeed stayed beside and watched how each part worked under Nadya's hand.
Because of this, Nadya's maid smiled and nodded with a resolute look on her face, "You can count on me! And I promise!"
Present
'That I won't fail,' Nadya's maid sharply huffs, and pulls the trigger,
This fired round would pierce through the shield, then the armor, and finally the dummy's body. After she ejects the empty chamber, the nobles are overwhelmed by the end result of the third dummy.
What follows were various reactions of the noblemen.
"That projectile went through the shield and armor,"
"Not even an arrow notched from a bow could do what that weapon did,"
"This may change everything,"
Nadya anticipated their reactions, and replied with the following, "This is but a sample of things to come. If you're all willing to listen, we may proceed with the verdict of my proposal,"
"This is but a sample of what you've made?! Then, by all means, show us the rest!" An enthusiastic nobleman urged, and a few followed his example,
As this happened, Heinrich couldn't help but feel some manner of pride in his daughter's work. He momentarily eyed the noblemen who were adamant about the idea of change, yet he paid little attention to them as this meeting piqued his ever-growing interest in his daughter's inventions.
For it may undoubtedly change the Vitalis Empire as a whole...
All of you may wonder, where do Fate Stay Characters come into the story? The answer is that in a future chapter, a Servant would appear and align themselves with Nadya and the Vitalis Empire.
For references of what had appeared in this story, The Crystal is like the Hextech Gemstone but it takes the form of a tall diamond and contained with a capsule, and the rifle is similar to Caitlyn's Hextech Rifle in Season 2's Trailer.
I literally can't wait for it's release in November!
That is all I have to say, and I'll see you all in the next chapter!
