And so, the Turtles and the Lotus Ninjas began their quest to search for the mysterious Superfly and Zelena.
With the help of April's ingenious cork board, the Turtles started targeting criminals that are currently tied to Superfly and headed to their locations all over the city. Once they had located the crooks, the mutant brothers flew into action. They wielded their katana swords, sai, nunchucks, and bo staff combined with fast punching and kicking strikes to defeat and triumph over thieves and gangsters.
At the same time, April was taking pictures and recording the action on her camera. Then, she began tying details into her laptop. She later showed videos of the Turtles tackling bad guys with their ninja skills to the mutant brothers, making them whoop and laugh with smiles.
The Lotus Ninjas, on the other hand, began working on a scanner that can magically all mystical activities around New York City altogether. In Donna's technological lab, Donna began working on devising a hand mirror with a golden handle and frame made of advanced technology while Lee, Ella, and Ellie began throwing ingredients into the cauldron that Donna instructed them. Donna tossed the hand mirror into the cauldron. After two minutes, she grabbed a pair of pliers and pulled out the hand mirror before placing it down on her desk. The back of the mirror was deep magenta and had a white four-pointed star symbol upon it.
In the evening, the Lotus Ninjas quietly tiptoed out of the fortress, so they can inform April on their faster progress in their pursuit of Zelena. But as they crept, Saldana stealthily watched her daughters leave with one eye open as she was meditating in the dojo.
During a few breaks, the Lotus Ninjas and the Turtles started to bond casually. They started to get to know each other by exchanging their favorite interests. Lee shared her skilled water magic towards Leo on a building rooftop. She started shaping water into decorative lotus flowers all around herself and Leo, who applauded with a smile. That made Lee blush shyly. Ella showed her heavy metal and hip-hop music playlist to Raph, who enjoyed it with his bobbing head. Later on, Raph began throwing punches and kicks with Ella as they both started to gain growing feelings for each other. Donna showcased her talent of merging mysticism with modern technology to Donnie. Even she showed him some of her invention ideas that made him jaw drop. Donnie began complimenting her work, making her blush from her cheeks. Ellie began showing her viral videos and well-liked posts on social media to Mikey. Mikey immediately recognized some of her popular videos and followed them as he commented on his favorites. Ellie gave out a wide, blushing smile to Mikey.
At Eastman High School, every student began reading April's news article that was written "Heroes Stopping Superfly, Prom Might Be Back On!" in the school paper throughout the hallway. Even the kid was reading the news article while stopping writing "Puke Girl" on April's locker halfway through. Ellie, Ella, Lee, and Donna came up to the smiling April as they congratulated her for getting recognition on her latest article in the school paper. Their eyes quickly moved up and caught the sight of the Turtles peering through the windows. April and the Lotus Ninjas mouthed them to go away before they get caught.
During their mid-breaks, the Lotus Ninjas began trying on new spells and combat techniques that will confidently allow them to go beyond their magic.
Eventually, Donna successfully completed her invention.
During their free period in the library, the Lotus Ninjas and April gathered around the table, where Donna showed her technological device to April.
"It's finally finished, April." Donna smiled.
"And with it, we can track Zelena's location any time, any place." Lee said.
"The only thing we need is a clue that could locate her." Donna said.
"Oh, how about this?" April asked. She tossed out a small piece of black horn out of her pocket and handed it to her friends. "I found it when I was checking the museum at the time the Morganite was stolen."
"Yeah, that'll do." Ella grinned as she took the small horn from April.
Ella passed it to Donna, who took it and dropped it into the reflection of her hand mirror.
Donna's phone started vibrating in her pocket. She reached in and took out her phone.
"Oh snap. It's a text from mom." Donna said with a gasp.
Donna held it up for April, Ella, Ellie, and Lee to see: Girls, after school, invite your friend April to our home.
"Mom's inviting April to the fortress?!" Ella, Ellie, and Lee exclaimed in whispers.
"Not to sound ungrateful, but why?" April asked in a concerned tone.
"Beats me." Ellie replied with a shrug.
"Look, as long as she doesn't know about our plan to search for Zelena, we're good." Ella said casually.
"Ella, but this is mom we're talking about." Lee reminded. "You know, we can't trick her. But maybe...we could distract her from knowing. Either way, it's worth a shot."
"Agreed." Ellie, Ella, and Donna nodded in agreement.
The Lotus Ninjas arrived in the fortress' entrance with April from a teleportation platform.
"So. Cool." April smiled.
"Told ya." Ellie smiled back.
Lee's eyes caught the sight of a bright light shining in the kitchen. She walked towards the kitchen as her sisters and her friend cautiously followed behind. As the girls entered the kitchen, brilliant fireworks of shimmering bursts of blue, purple, red, and orange came from the dining room.
"Welcome home, girls." Saldana said in a friendly voice.
Lee, Ellie, Donna, April, and Ella screamed. Donna and Ellie hugged each other. April and Lee almost jumped to their feet. And Ella's fists gripped in red flames. They immediately stopped screaming when Saldana stood in front of the dining table.
"Mom, please don't scared us like that again!" Lee said.
Donna looked behind Saldana and saw several pizza boxes on the dining table. Her eyes also saw colorful balloons tied to the table.
"Uh, mom, what's with the balloons?" Donna asked.
"Look, I know something's up." Saldana said. "You can't hide it from me."
"You do?" Ella asked with a worried face.
"I do." Saldana said as she placed her hands on her hips. "That's why I watched April helping you on practicing your magic with my hand mirror. And it's okay. That's why I want to invite April as a way of thanking her. Even though I told you not to expose your magic to anyone, you all did find trust in April O'Neil." She bowed properly to April. "I thank you, Ms. O'Neil."
"Oh, it's not a problem." April said with a smile. "I mean, your daughters are my friends. It was no big deal."
"And for that, that's why I told my daughters to invite you to join us for dinner." Saldana said.
"Well, I can't say no to that." April beamed. "Let's eat."
The Lotus Ninjas exchanged silent faces before joining April to the dining table. They all began devouring pizzas and drank soda cans while chatting about their school lives and their extracurricular activities.
Then, Donna's high-tech hand mirror started to chime. She took it out and looked at her device. The mirror projected a holographic map on the reflection, which successfully pinpointed six star-like magical dots all in one spot. She, Lee, Ella, and Ellie looked at each other as they silently traded knowing nods.
"Uh, mom." Lee spoke up as she and her sisters turned their heads to Saldana. "We just forgot we promised April to have a study group at her place."
"What's wrong with having a study group here?" Saldana asked. Her eyes went slightly stern. "Is there something you're not telling me? Don't lie to me. You know, if you need anything, I'm here."
"Oh, no. No, no, no, no." Lee said. "You see, April insisted that we study at her place. And then, we go shopping for prom dresses afterwards."
"Really? That's it?" Saldana asked, looking her eldest daughter in the eye.
"Yup, it's true." Donna nodded.
"Mm-hmm." Ella confirmed.
"Uh-huh. Thanks for the pizza." Ellie grinned.
The Lotus Ninjas quickly escorted April out of the fortress. Saldana silently watched her daughters leave while April was still eating the pizza slice in her hand.
