3 Days Later: 5 Miles Out From Gotham
"So, uh, Mister? Heading to Gotham, right? Heh. Lotta people try to avoid heading there. So I was surprised when you said that was your stop." The bus driver says as he turns to Jason who was wearing a black shirt and grey combat pants, and combat boots with red shin guards strapped over them.
Jason sighs as the bus driver kept bantering. It continued for a few moments before eventually the former Robin looked ahead and saw movement.
"Stop." Jason demands and the driver was taken back by Jason's sudden attitude.
"Jeez, son. You don't have to be rude." The driver scolds but Jason gets up and points forward.
"Up ahead. Movement. Someone's in the road." He explains and the driver stops and narrows his eyes, his expression turning to shock.
"Holy heckballs-I didn't see that!" The driver states and Jason looks at him.
"Open the door." He says and the driver shakes his head.
"I can't. This would be an unauthorized stop. I could lose my job." The driver replies and Jason folds his arms.
"Or, and hear me out...you could lose your teeth. That sound better?" Jason threatens and the driver gulps, audibly and opens the door.
Jason steps out of the bus and walks up to the area he saw the person.
He stops once he sees a woman in a police uniform, bleeding out of her side. It was dark, but as the woman turned to face the bus headlights, Jason raised an eyebrow.
"Montoya?" He questions in thought and kneels down to examine her.
"You're hurt. Bullet wound. Went straight through. Ouch, I know that had to hurt." Jason says and Det. Renee Montoya of Gotham, looks up at him, her expression one of worry.
"Please! Get back on the bus! It's not safe." She pleads and Jason shakes his head then picks her up.
"I don't think so." He says then heads back into the bus with Montoya in tow.
Jason places her in a seat, and Montoya sits herself up best to her ability, with both Jason and the driver paying attention to her.
"I appreciate you helping me out. But you shouldn't have done that. Now...ugh...crap. Those guys are gonna kill you." She warns, and is breathing heavily.
"What's done is done, missy! You need a hospital, that wound ain't looking too good." The driver clarifies and Montoya sighs.
"I'll be fine." She argues but Jason scoffs.
"No, you won't...what were you doing in middle of the road, anyway?" He questions and Montoya narrows her eyes at him.
"Prisoner transport. One of the Misfits from Gotham. Dury Walker." Montoya answers and Jason raises an eyebrow.
"Killer Moth. That D-Lister escaped the transport?" He asks, honestly surprised and Montoya nods.
"He was broken out by his partners. Humpty Dumpty, Cat-Man and Chancer. Those bastards killed the others who transporting them." She admits and out the corner of her eye, sees a light from up the road.
They all look and see a group of Thugs, their bikes parked, and with road flares set on the ground.
"And they sent their goons to get rid of any witnesses." Montoya finishes and The bus driver eyes widen in shock and his breathing starts shaking.
"People on the bus! This ain't none of ya business. Just gives us the cop and you'll live. You got a minute to decide."
"Oh no." He states, scared and Jason chuckles, and cracks his neck and stretches.
"Don't worry, you'll make it back. I got this." Jason plainly says and the two look at in shock.
"Son, those guys have guns! Knives and chains! And the big guy looks to be the toughest." The driver says and Jason starts getting off the bus.
"I know. I'll leave him for last." He states and walks towards the large group of men, a smirk on his face.
"You said a minute, right? That leaves me forty-five seconds of free time." Jason cockily remarks and the leader, who had a cocktail in one hand,a road flare in the other, He just chuckles.
"Yeah? What you planning on doing with that time?" The Leader questions.
"Simple. I'm going to kill all your friends. Then I'm going to shove that road flare up your butt." He remarks and The Leader gives him a look, as does the rest of the Thugs.
Then they burst out laughing and Jason rolls his eyes.
"HAHAHAHA! Good one! Heh. Someone kill this punk." The Leader orders and Jason smiles then kicks the Leader in the face, knocking him down, and causing the items from his hands to be in the air.
Jason quickly grabs the cocktail and road flare, and uses the flare to light the rag, and he throws the cocktail at two Thugs, burning them alive.
"AHHHHHHHH!" The two scream in pain, and another Thug tries to attack Jason from behind with chains, but he reacts and shoves the road flare in the Thug's mouth.
"GAK!" The Thug starts choking, and Jason shoves it in deeper, for good measure.
Back on the bus, Montoya and the driver watch in utter shock.
"Miss. I don't know if I should root for the kid...or say a prayer for those guys." He says and Montoya's face shows one of surprise and fear.
"How in God's name...?"
Outside, Jason grabs the chains from the Thug he just killed and uses it to wrap around another Thug that tried hitting him.
Jason then uses his strength to swing around the Thug, hitting another charging at him.
Then Jason snaps the Thug's neck and lets go, and he dodges a Thug attempting to stab him with a knife.
Jason then headbuts the Thug and grabs his wrist and drives the knife into his throat.
He pulls the knife and lets the body hit the floor, one more Thug charges at him firing his gun, but misses several shots.
Jason rushes at him and jumps up, stabbing the Thug in the chest whilst grabbing his gun.
Then the last two Thugs try to shoot but Jason was faster and fires two headshots into them.
He looks back at the Leader who crawls back in fear, and Jason flashes a smirk at him and starts walking towards him.
"P-Please...don't kill me." The Leader pleads and Jason chuckles.
"You have a short memory." He says confusing the Leader, but then his eyes widen as Jason picks up a road flare.
"I didn't say I was going to kill you..." Jason states and the Leader becomes petrified.
"Wait, Wait, Wait, I-ARGHHHHHHH!"
Getting back into the bus, the driver looks at Jason in complete fear while Montoya keeps her composure.
"Y-You killed those guys." The driver says and Jason shrugs.
"Yeah...but I ain't going to be losing sleep over those guys." Jason admits and reaches to grab his duffle bag, but he turns and hears a 'CLICK!'
He turns his head and sees Montoya aiming her pistol at him and Jason stares her down.
"You helped me, I'll give you that. But you just murdered 10 men. I have to take you in." Montoya states and Jason remains unfazed and hangs his duffle bag on his shoulder.
"I understand. But you're going to let me go. That bullet wound is leaking. Very badly, I might add. You need to go back into Gotham. Get to a hospital." He says and Montoya keeps her gun trained on him.
"Umm, he's right Miss. You can barely stand." The driver remarks and Montoya gives him a look.
"See? He gets it. I'm not sorry for saving you. It's what was I taught...among many other things. Believe me, you couldn't arrest me, even if you tried." Jason diminishes and starts walking down the steps.
"You're a good cop, Montoya. Gotham needs more like you...see ya round." Jason finishes, looking back at her and nods to the driver and he closes the door, then starts driving off.
Jason lets out a breath and looks in the distance, a small smile on his face as he sees Gothan City in all her glory.
He lets out a laugh and starts walking towards the city on foot.
Morning: Batcave
Under the manor and organizing case files on the Batcomputer was Bruce Wayne, The Dark Knight of Gotham.
Well, he was working on the files, untill his tiredness got the best of him, and was laid back in the chair, his elbow propped up and his face laying in his hand.
Then steps could be heard coming down the stairs, and a familiar butler saw Bruce and sighed.
"This is one habit that needs to be broken." Alfred says to himself, rubbing his eyes then walks over.
He then finishes working on the remaining case files, wrapping up any loose ends and turns his attention on Bruce.
Alfred cleared his throat, audibly and that was enough to make Bruce open his eyes and turn to face his butler.
"Alfred?" Bruce says and Alfred gives him a disappointed look.
"Sir, you really do must take better care of yourself. Being down in this cave, majority of the time is...unhealthy." Alfred states and Bruce lets out a breath.
"I'm sorry, Alfred. I was just trying to finish up some files..." Bruce explains.
"I saw, Sir. And I took the liberty of finishing them for you." He informs Bruce and he looked at the Batcomputer to see the files closed and finished.
"Thank you, Alfred." Bruce thanks and gets up, heading to the changing room as Alfred walks over to the steps, waiting for him.
"While you get changed, I should remind that today is Cassandra's first day at Gotham Academy. She is quite...uneasy about it. You need to talk to her. Also, the...Wayne Gala for tonight is finished with preparations at City Hall." Alfred explains and Bruce comes out the changing room in black dress pants and shoes, while putting his top half of clothes.
"Well, school is a new experience for her. And it's not exactly the most...fun. I know that, along with Dick, Barbara, Tim and Stephanie." He says and Alfred looks up in thought.
"Yes. And the fact she was raised by her mother, well...I can't fathom what she were to do if someone agitated her." Alfred states and Bruce finishes putting on his white dress shirt and dress black jacket.
"That's why she has Tim and Stephanie. To help keep her cool." Bruce says and Alfred then helps him with his tie.
"Indeed, she does. But perhaps, some reassurance is needed?" Alfred suggests and Bruce nods.
"I'll...try and talk to her." Bruce says and Alfred finishes his tie.
"Sir, if I may be so bold...what exactly is bothering about Miss Cain?" Alfred questions and Bruce pauses a moment before sighing.
"Im...worried, Alfred. I have no experience in raising a daughter. On top of that, she's not like Dick or Tim, she's so similar to...Jason." Bruce admits, with a saddened look and Alfred stiffens at the mention of the 2nd Robin.
"I see, sir. She also reminds of young Master Todd..." He says then looks to a class case, where Jason's Robin suit was held.
"...But Cassandra is also more level-headed than he was. Although, she still needs guidance. Guidance, you can give her." Alfred assures him and Bruce lightly smiles.
"Thank you, Alfred." Bruce says then heads upstairs, but not before shutting off The Batcomputer.
Alfred then walks over to the glass case and places his hand on it.
"...We miss you, sir." Alfred states then heads upstairs shortly after Bruce.
Blüdhaven: Apartment
Dick Grayson, Nightwing, had woken up in his bed, he turned to his side and saw the empty space next to him.
He lets out a chuckle, and gets out of bed, stretching and putting on his sweatpants and heading out the room and sees Barbara Gordon, at her desk, checking new messages via her Darkwear Lenses.
Dick smiled and leaned against the door frame.
"You didn't wake me?" He greets and Barbara chuckles.
"You needed it. You did just take down several major drug rings last night after all." She retorts and Dick scoffs.
"I could've taken down more." He argues and walks over wraps his arms around her neck and kisses her cheek.
"Hmph. Liar." She jokes and the two share a kiss, then Dick pulls away and heads into the kitchen.
"One of these days...I will beat you to the coffee." Dick tells her and Barbara gives him a cheeky grin.
"I'll believe it when I see it, Boy-Wonder." She teases and opens another message, one from Bruce and her eyes widen at the message.
"Uh, Bruce is hosting a gala in Gotham tonight. He wants us to go." She informs and Dick raises an eyebrow.
"Another gala? Those things have never been my strong suit...can you tell him we can't make it?" Dick asks pouring himself a cup of coffee and Barbara turns to him.
"Dick. It's...for Jason." She tells him and he tenses up, looking at her.
"...Tell him we'll be there."
