Chichi enrolls Gohan in Orange Star High School when he's 15 since that means he'll have a higher chance of meeting a nice girl sooner. After seeing the great amount of crime in the city, Gohan decides to use his strength to help the police. His heroics also inspire a certain other young martial artist to get in on the action as well, but she doesn't bother wearing a disguise. In a relatively short time, Videl's able to figure out that Gohan's the Gold Fighter.
One day while patrolling as the 'Gold Fighter', Gohan discovers that a new dojo (Red Tiger Kai) has opened in Satan City. A dojo that is teaching ki manipulation! Videl and he soon find themselves fighting against ki-empowered bullies and thugs at school and in the streets. Unknown to all, the sensei is actually a former Red Ribbon general, Copper (age 52). General Copper seeks to create his own criminal empire, using his new dojo as a means of recruiting ambitious youths with promises of power and wealth.
After an especially bad fight which Gohan was forced to step into to save Videl after she got very badly hurt, Videl forces Gohan to take her on as a disciple and train her in his unique fighting style. Videl joking calls Gohan the 'dragon kai' to the 'tiger kai' dojo. A name which Gohan takes a liking to and decides to use henceforth.
Gohan didn't thought of using a superhero name and costume. Instead, he uses his normal blue training gi with a red scarf wrapped around his neck and lower face (along with being Super Saiyan) to hide his identity from others. People just call him the Gold Fighter and he isn't bothered enough by it to make up a new name.
