Chapter 57 Chapter 57
While the Phoenix battled the basilisk, Evan rushed towards the statue. Tom seemed to realize what he was attempting, so he cast some spells towards Evan, which barely grazed him.
"Kill the Mudblood, don't let him near the statue, it's to your right!" Tom shouted.
The basilisk ignored the Phoenix and lunged towards Evan.
Evan looked back and saw two huge bloodshot eyes getting closer and closer.
Just as he thought he was about to be swallowed by the basilisk, Harry appeared between him and the serpent, threw his wand to the ground, gripped the sword tightly in his hands, his face pale but showing courage to face the basilisk.
The basilisk failed to notice Harry, and Riddle wanted to warn it, but it was too late.
Harry ruthlessly stabbed the basilisk, leaving a deep wound revealing bone, more damaging than all the previous spells combined.
The basilisk recoiled, a loud hiss filled the chamber, it writhed wildly and coiled around the pillars, causing the entire chamber to shake.
Harry was thrown and hit a wall, losing consciousness.
The basilisk lunged towards Harry, preparing to attack.
Fortunately, Fawkes flew and stopped the basilisk, continuing its assault on the serpent.
Evan had no time to focus on the fight, he quickly climbed the statue while dodging the spells Tom cast.
These spells were potent, each causing stones to fly everywhere, the Slytherin statue had become unrecognizable. But casting and controlling spells with a broken wand required a lot of energy.
"Damn, damn!" Riddle threw Ron's wand to the ground.
Evan saw him head towards where Harry had thrown his wand and pick it up.
Evan climbed faster, he was so close to the diary, but Tom cast a green spell, much denser than before. 'Run!' Evan thought as he gritted his teeth and leaped to grab the diary, then lunged towards Harry.
The next instant, the green light struck him.
"Evan!"
Unbearable pain spread throughout his body, Evan heard Harry scream his name, he wanted to reply but felt his life fading, only a bit of strength remained.
He fell into the open mouth of the Slytherin statue.
It was a dark, bottomless cavern, cruelly devouring Evan.
With the dim light remaining, Evan saw a pocket watch-like object flying out of his pocket, the hand spinning counterclockwise and buzzing.
Evan didn't know how many times it had spun, when the last glimmer of light vanished, the gleam in Evan's eyes also faded soon.
He didn't know how much time had passed, Evan gently opened his eyes.
'Is this the feeling of death?' The Chamber of Secrets had not only turned dark but was also gradually clearing.
'No, this isn't the Chamber of Secrets!'
Though the room was similar in size to the Chamber of Secrets, it lacked the feared snake carvings on the pillars, and the Slytherin statue didn't exist.
It was very cluttered, resembling an expanded version of Snape's office, with a variety of magical herbs and potions, filled with colorful liquids and stuffed animals, which would delight anyone.
"Who are you to enter my room without permission?"
Evan saw a young man with black hair, dressed in dark green retro wizard robes, extraordinarily handsome and noble-looking. The young wizard looked at Evan with suspicion and astonishment, then said,
"Hello, my name is Evan Masson, where is this...?"
Evan was puzzled; he was in the Chamber of Secrets, battling Voldemort and the basilisk, but now he lay in a room with a wizard he had never seen before.
Evan was certain that the other person was not a student or professor at Hogwarts; regardless of who they were, they always had a certain temperament.
"It used to be my father's castle, but now it's a school of magic called Hogwarts," said the man slowly. "My name is Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of this school."
Upon hearing his words, Evan was left speechless.
Salazar Slytherin.
One of the four founders of Hogwarts. How could this young man, who appears not a day over a thousand, look so youthful?
"This chamber is my secret chamber, so no one should know about it," Salazar said, his eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Evan. "And you just mentioned your name is Evan Masson. I've never heard of a wizarding family named Mason. Are you a Mudblood?"
Under the other's icy gaze, Evan cautiously nodded, seeing the evident disgust on Slytherin's face.
For a moment, Evan felt a sense of danger emanating from the other.
He could sense that this young man was powerful, not much different from Dumbledore or Voldemort. Evan noticed that the room was decorated in a robust medieval style.
This couldn't possibly be Hogwarts a thousand years ago; this unusually handsome young man couldn't be Salazar Slytherin in the flesh.
Evan felt his mind reeling; suddenly, he thought of the magical object that resembled a pocket watch, touched his chest, and it was still there.
"Sir, I'm a student at Hogwarts, from Gryffindor," Evan said before Slytherin could make him disappear.
"A student from Godric?" Salazar looked at Evan. "You're lying, I've never seen you before!"
"I-I didn't lie to you. You haven't seen me before because I come from Hogwarts a thousand years in the future. I don't know what's happening, but maybe I was brought here by this," Evan said as he showed the object resembling a pocket watch.
"A Time-Turner, fascinating!" said Salazar as he carefully examined the pocket watch. "It doesn't seem like a typical Time-Turner; it has a strange magic, a very sophisticated design, somewhat resembling Rowena's work."
Seeing Slytherin's expression, Evan breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that finally, the other side believed him. Otherwise, he would have met a miserable fate. Even after a thousand years, Salazar was still feared, who knows how he would have disposed of him.
"Come with me; I will take you to see Godric and Rowena," Salazar said with a glint in his eyes and a smirk on his face. "If I find out you lied to me, you will regret it."
