Coffee. Focusing Gibbs saw a mess of auburn hair. Again Kate was sleeping in his arms, his leg over hers, her arm resting on his at her waist, his hand was under her pillow holding hers, no pistol under the pillow. Her head turned so her face was tucked to his chest. He was on her side of the bed, not even the middle, she'd remained on her side. He'd rolled to her sometime during the night and she hadn't pushed him away, he swallowed realizing she wasn't going to, he shifted to get a better look at her. Kate automatically shifted with him, her breathing changing he could tell she was waking up. He closed his eyes wondering if she could feel his heart pounding.
Kate blinked, a white tee shirt her only view, he'd started having another nightmare but the moment she said his name and touched his cheek, he'd relaxed and wrapped around her. Without moving she took in her surroundings, she could feel the weight of his leg across hers, his arm at her waist, hand under her shirt on her ribs where the bullet had hit the vest and she was holding his other hand. That was new.
"I thought you slept with a gun under your pillow?" he murmured.
"I'm sleeping with a Marine why would I need my SIG?" she yawned, he smirked.
Unwrapping himself from her he rolled to his back asking "Breakfast?"
"Jogging." she stretched sitting up.
"Then breakfast?"
She smirked looking down at him "I can make you breakfast before I go."
"I was going to go with you." he rested one hand behind his head, the other on his stomach. "But I get coffee first right?"
"Yes coffee first." she chuckled slipping the blankets off only to have Gibbs throw them all on her as he hopped out of bed and headed for the kitchen. "Very mature Gibbs." she lisped unburying herself.
He smirked.
Her coffee on the counter he yawned passing her in the hall, her black yoga pants and purple tank/jog bra combo, her typical NCIS workout gear, the very outfit that got McGee not only abused but kicked in the balls. Gibbs looked back over his shoulder, yep, so worth an ass kicking, he grinned before ducking into the bedroom.
They kept a decent pace jogging to the park and then around the actual jogging track twice before heading back home. Kate racing for the house once it was in sight, Gibbs giving chase caught her at the front step grabbing her up into his arms, squealing she wrapped her arms over his laughing. Setting her down he opened the door lightly swatting her ass as she walked passed him "Go shower, I got breakfast handled."
"Okay." she called back still laughing and heading down the hall. "Just a bagel Gibbs!"
"You're eating more then bread Kate!" he called back. It wasn't until he was cracking eggs that he'd realized what he'd done and was amazed that not only was his hand still attached, he was still standing, maybe she let it go as he was keeping their cover.
While he was finishing up Kate brought her laptop to the counter, now he saw why she had taken so long, Gibbs glanced over smiling when he saw Abby's bright smiling face "She's bored." Kate said simply going to the coffee pot, her hair damp and hanging freely at her shoulders she had simply towel dried it and ran a brush through it. "That's not a bagel." she pointed at the omelets on the plates.
"It's called breakfast Kate." he said simply.
Kate stuck her tongue out at Gibbs who was occupied with Abby.
"Sooooo…." Gibbs watched the Goth bounce Abby giving a crooked grin at Kate's antics behind Gibbs's back "How's it going?"
"Kate got us invited to a pool party." Gibbs grimaced.
'Kate in a bikini?' Abby signed, Gibbs rolled his eyes, Abby gave him a double thumbs up. Both Abby and Ducky knew how he felt about Kate and both pushed him to break rule twelve.
"Whatever, you broke a guys arm." Kate said over her shoulder but concentrating on pouring her coffee, Abby was going to have a field day.
"Broke a guy's arm? Aren't you supposed to be teaching them to shoot? Did you beat him with the rifle?"
"Nope, just helped in unarmed combat." he said toying with the bacon, ignoring Abby's signed question.
'He eyed Kate didn't he?', Abby laughed "They should know better then to mess with you."
"How's the case Abby? Have they said anything to you?" Kate leaned on the counter, resting on her elbows and taking a sip of her coffee, Abby bit back a smirk catching Gibbs glancing at Kate's ass.
"I'm running tests on a few things he's brought back other then that…." she shrugged "It's lonely, and boring, you guys need to come home soon."
"It's only been two days Abs." Kate straightened up stretching and taking the plate Gibbs offered, giving the lap top a quick spin towards the nook Kate sat down, Gibbs joining her a moment later.
They chatted for ten more minutes before Abby had to go leaving Kate and Gibbs to finish breakfast.
"Morning Kate!" their neighbor smiled and waved.
"Morning." Kate returned the woman's smile. The woman took it as an invite to come across the street, Kate remained at the end of the drive with her newspaper in hand.
"Have you convinced your Gunny to come to the pool party?"
"Do you need us to bring anything?" Gibbs asked causing the woman to jump.
"Stealthy aren't you?"
"So I've been told." he smirked, normally by Tony and almost always after he smacked him. She was as young as Kate, he was pretty sure they were all Kate's age or younger, he was going to be miserable.
"Leslie this is Lee, Lee this is Leslie Jacobs."
"Mark's wife." Gibbs nodded. "Nice to meet you." he nodded.
She saw her front door open "Starts at one," she headed back to her house seeing her husband with a smiling baby in his arms. She called back "but if you want to wander over earlier that's fine with me, I'm sure Mark wouldn't mind help with the barbecue."
Kate nodded walking with Gibbs back inside. "I didn't pack a bathing suit."
"Neither did I, go buy one." he shrugged.
"Come with?" Gibbs wasn't the only one surprised by her request, it had slipped out before she had a chance to think. "You know what is more base appropriate then I do." she covered.
Kate in a bathing suit or stay home….. "Sure." he nodded.
"Ugly." he muttered at the one piece she wore, the changing room attendant was trying not to laugh it was the third one Gibbs had straight up called ugly.
"What's wrong with it?" Kate sighed.
"Ugly." he muttered.
"Specific, or your going to be choked with the sarong." she glared.
"It's not you, they're too….careful….too old." he settled on.
"I figured after yesterday careful was best." she admitted.
"I can't say it won't happen again, you're hot Kate," she blinked "I can only promise I'll try to handle it better." he stood up going through the swimsuits near him, holding up a red two piece.
"Anything smaller?"
He grinned at her sarcasm "You're gonna wear that thing anyway." he gestured to her sarong, she snatched the suit out of his hand going back in the changing room, he grinned at the attendant.
"Fiery." she chuckled.
"Yea, I think I'll keep her." he was still broadly grinning when he dropped back down on the bench.
He sat waiting a few minutes before hearing a sighing. "Damn."
"Doesn't fit?" he sat up straight, he was sure he'd gotten her size correct.
"Oh it fit's alright." Kate eyed herself in the mirror mumbling "Perfectly." how him and DiNozzo knew her size drove her crazy.
"Let's see."
"Fine." tying the sarong and making sure it covered both tattoos she stepped out of the changing room. "Happy?" her Catholic shyness was battling with her 'screw you' attitude but she held her ground as he gave her the once over. The fisted hands on hips stance had Gibbs fighting not to call her Wonder Woman, the goofy smile on his face told her everything she needed to know, Kate shook her head biting the inside of her lip and rolling her eyes. "Go get your suit while I change." she turned around, without hesitation Gibbs checked out her ass before grinning at the giggling attendant. Latching the door Kate had an idea as to what he'd done, she smiled, he was slowly changing back to the way he was before the Hamas fiasco. She was surprised when he called her hot, she would admit she was pretty but that was as far as she would go, it had to be for their cover.
He was waiting with a blue pair of swim trunks and matching blue tee shirt, she liked blue, he'd overheard Kate tell Abby that she liked him in blues, the different shades brought out his eyes.
Gibbs groaned hearing the alarm "It's Sunday."
Kate reached over him to shut it off "Church." she patted his chest kissing his cheek before she slipped out of her side of the bed heading for the bathroom. Grumbling Gibbs headed for the kitchen to make coffee and breakfast, he touched his cheek looking back towards the bedroom, she had to be screwing with him.
Kate glared at herself in the mirror "Not a boyfriend, the boss, stop kissing the man."
He made her the toasted bagel that she liked, with the strawberry spread, it was waiting for her when she came into the kitchen suit jacket in hand, "Give me ten, I'll go with you."
She opened her mouth to tell him he didn't have to but what came out was "Okay." Drinking her coffee and eating her bagel she noticed two more missing from the bag on the counter, she smirked Gibbs had eaten bagels. He came out in his tan suit, a close match to her pearl colored skirt suit. "Very handsome Gibbs."
"Thanks Katie." he gave her an honest smile as he could tell she meant her compliment.
