Their week went uneventful they fell into their roles as husband and wife easily, to Kate they seemed to act more as they had when she had first met Gibbs and DiNozzo, Gibbs was faster to smile and tease her and she fought back. He was less gruff, he was opening her doors, pulling out her chairs, Kate was wondering how much was an act and how much was Gibbs relaxed away from work. He ran with her Saturday, went to church with her that morning.
Kate was starting to go to the 'office' and start work as a translator, on paper and in person so she was finally getting out of the house. "I guess it's back to running on days off or the exercise bike after work." Kate commented grabbing her purse as they both headed for the door.
"If you're up for it we can run around the block a couple times when I get home." Gibbs said closing the door behind them.
"That'd be great." Kate nodded as they exchanged a kiss on the cheek before both getting in their cars.
Always a show for the neighbors in case someone was watching, besides Paula and Ari.
Ducky had come with Tony to check on Kate, Kate grinned throwing her arms around the M.E. without flinching "Hi Dad." Ducky returned her hug smiling.
"Bring in the bag Andrew." Ducky reminded Tony walking arm in arm with Kate. Tony grunted the bag was not lightweight, Gibbs took it grinning at Tony. A happy boss was a creepy boss, Tony decided following them.
They moved inside, Gibbs and Tony talking about the case while Ducky and Kate retired to the bedroom to deal with Kate and her shoulder, she winced a bit when he touched the yellow and barely visible bruise on her ribs. "So how is your shoulder?"
"Occasionally stiff and sore but otherwise okay." she promised.
"Doing your physical therapy?"
"Yes." she nodded
"And your hip?"
She rolled her eyes unbuttoning her pants and letting him check her hip, the only one aside from Abby to see her tattoos. "The same, as long as I don't hit the bruises I'm fine. Ow." she glared down at the top of his head when he touched the yellowed bruise.
"Apologizes Caitlin. Nightmares?"
"Only if I nap," she admitted, "I'm fine at night."
"And why do you think that is Caitlin?" Ducky asked cleaning up his mess.
Kate knew exactly why and knew Ducky did as well, "Because I'm not alone." she buttoned her jeans.
"Why must you lie to me?" he sighed "Abigail told me when she stayed over you had nightmares every night."
"Remind me to thank Abigail." she said dryly, dropping back onto the bed she grumbled at the doctor "I feel safe with Gibbs, is that a crime?"
"No." the older man chuckled. "How has he been?"
Kate knew what Ducky was asking "He's relaxing, back to before the Hamas fiasco, still on guard because of our lovely shadow." Kate rolled her eyes, she was sure it was the reason for Gibbs's nightmares but she wasn't telling Ducky about those, that for was Gibbs to tell if he wanted to.
"Good." Ducky nodded. "Now would you like to see what I have brought?"
"Yes please." Kate stood up grinning, the contents of the bag had been on her mind since Ducky had escorted her to the room.
"Seriously who decided that I look like an Andrew?" Tony muttered.
"Well you look like an ass but we can't call you that in public now can we?" Kate asked with a grin, Gibbs chuckled.
"You didn't get a new name." he glared at Kate.
"I'm Katherine." she slipped past him into the kitchen.
"But you still get to answer to Kate or Katie." he muttered turning with her, she threw her elbow connecting with his ribs at the same time she heard 'thwack' and saw Tony's head bounce forward "Stop calling Kate, Katie." Tony sighed. Kate smirked.
"Knowing how you both prefer to spend your time off I brought presents. I am sure you can decipher the owner." Ducky nodded to the bag, Tony left Gibbs and Kate in the kitchen together with the bag on the counter deciding to explore the living room instead. Tony grinned at the photo of him, Kate and Ducky, it was the best family picture he'd had since his mother passed away, he'd steal it once the whole 'bait' thing was over. Tony heard Kate's light and airy 'Thank you Ducky.' and Gibbs's deep 'Thanks Duck.' Ducky had brought small pieces of wood and a few carving tools and sandpaper for Gibbs, for Kate it was three new sketch pads. Shaking his head Tony picked up the photo of Kate and Gibbs, giving a smile Tony thought, as he always did, that Gibbs just needed to give in and ask Kate out. The mystery red heads never made Gibbs smile like Kate could.
"Why are we going early?" Kate called heading into the bathroom with her suit.
"So they can get to know us before the others show up, this way they're able to introduce us." he dug through the laundry basket for his swim trunks and shirt.
He changed in the bedroom while she was in the bathroom, tying her black sarong around her waist Kate made sure her tattoos were not visible, her hair down. Gibbs greeted her with a grin, his blue shorts actually had a Superman symbol on the leg, his shirt a solid matching blue. "Are we sure about this Gibbs?" she gestured to the bikini, he of course looked and winked at her, she shook her head. They were wearing the others favorite color, she knew red was his favorite color and that was the reason he had picked the red suit but she had no idea he knew blue and purple were hers.
"You're allowed to look sexy Kate, no rules against it." she rolled her eyes, again he was calling her sexy and hot, he had to be messing with her.
"It's just you work with these guys Gibbs…"
"Is this something you would normally wear?" he interrupted.
"As long as DiNozzo's not around leering, then yes." she sighed.
"Then I don't see a problem Kate, the others are gonna be dressed like this why should you be different?"
"Tie it again please?" she asked turning her back to Gibbs biting her lip she held her hair up.
"So where is the second one?" he asked.
"I'm sorry?" she glanced over her shoulder.
"Where is the other one, I know about the one on your hip." he'd read her file, but the second one she got with Abby.
"Where Tony will never see." Kate chuckled.
"Can I see?" Gibbs couldn't believe he asked.
"Show me yours I'll show you mine." Abby had told Kate that Gibbs had a tattoo, he caught Kate's teasing grin in the mirror, she was daring him she didn't think he would, he hesitated but then pulled his shirt off. He really wanted to see hers.
She was surprised, she hadn't thought he was going to take his shirt off. Kate blinked at his six pack, he was just as hairy as Tony but way more tone, she knew she shouldn't be surprised he did work out more then the boys. She saw the red, blue and gold on his shoulder, without thinking she touched the tattoo, it was the same Superman symbol on his swim trunks, colors bright it was obvious he took care of his tattoos. "Now you know why Abby makes the 'Man of Steel' cracks."
"I guess you and I have more in common then I thought." she chuckled untying her sarong and tossing it on the bed. On her hip a small sleeping fennec fox, he smirked it was high up enough that her shorty shorts from Gitmo covered it. Her turn to smirk she knew the second one's location would surprise him, facing him she watched as he tried to locate the last tattoo without looking at her boobs. Her hands on her hips, she tapped her finger tips by the small part of the tattoo that was peaking out the top of the bathing suit bottoms. She caught the shock in his eyes before he masked it, her suit was low enough for him to see the top of the Wonder Woman symbol tattooed low on her pelvic bone. "Now you know why the 'Wonder Woman' cracks."
He blinked swallowing, she enjoyed catching him off guard just as much as he enjoyed catching her, chuckling she turned leaning over to grab her sarong, Gibbs held his breath looking at her ass. He was pulling his shirt back on when she turned around, letting her leave the room first Gibbs exhaled vowing Tony would never see any of her tattoos.
