Jenny watched, as always, as Team Gibbs arrived in their usual order. She had managed to convince them to take a week before coming back to work, she was sure Gibbs and Todd were going crazy. Gibbs depositing a cup of coffee and a Caf-pow on Kate's desk before disappearing, Jenny was sure down to his oldest friend in the building, Ducky, Kate arriving next and leaving Gibbs a coffee and taking the coffee and Caf-pow he'd left on her desk before going to Abby. Complicated, Jenny nodded, she knew what she had to do but she wasn't sure if the silver haired stubborn ass would let her.

"Duck?"

"Ah Jethro, good morning." Ducky smiled.

Gibbs locked the autopsy door "Duck I need your help."

"With…" the doctor pushed.

"I told Kate I was the one sending her flowers."

"Don't keep me in suspense my dear boy what did she say?"

"We haven't exactly talked yet…"

"Jethro, do not string an old man along."

"We said we talk after the case but we haven't had a chance." Gibbs admitted. "The team's been together since we got back."

"Ah, we are not telling the children?" Gibbs shook his head only Ducky would refer to his team as children, Ducky nodded.

"Need to get things figured before we tell anyone." Gibbs gruffed.

"I will take them to lunch at the cafe." Ducky promised.

"Thanks Duck."

"Come on Kate, what's his name?"

"Who's name?" she sipped her coffee.

"Him! Whoever has you this mellow." she gestured to Kate.

Kate shook her head "Just relieved the case is over, we got the bad guy, well you and Ducky got the bad guy." Kate corrected herself then asked "Aren't you?"

"It's something more then that." Abby shook her head taking a drink of her Caf-pow. "You're distracted."

"Fine Abs, didn't sleep too much this last week, a certain Goth kept stealing my blanket." Kate arched her eyebrow, Abby had stayed with her again.

Abby grinned sheepishly "So no guy?"

"No new guy." she promised.

"So undercover with Boss man?" Abby grinned changing the subject.

"Yes." keeping her answers short meant having Abby fish which bought her time, she knew Gibbs would come and check on them, Abby was his girl.

"Nights alone with…" she fluttered her eyelashes at Kate who pushed her laughing.

"Spent actually working Abby, I spent most of my time translating whatever they gave me, Gibbs was training recruits, then it was cozy up to the neighbors, keeping eyes out for suspects, calling Ari an ass... you know the usual." she shook her head, she hadn't been able to spend time with Gibbs since they'd gotten back thanks to Abby and Tony "We played our parts Abs, exactly what everyone saw."

"They saw holding hands, they saw suck face." Abby accused heading into her office.

"We played newlyweds Abs, exactly who the guy was targeting." Kate called back smiling when she saw Gibbs "Like I said ask Tony, he'll tell you everything, or Paula."

"You let him manhandle." she called digging something through her shelf.

"Who's manhandling?" Gibbs smirked watching Abby jump.

"Gibbs!"

He shook a new Caf-pow at her "I know you missed her Abs but we still have paperwork so send her up soon."

"Kay." Abby nodded. Kate as she always did when she was with Abby watched Gibbs leave, Abby thumped Kate's shoulder with a grin. "Really?" she gestured to where Gibbs had been. Kate had never missed a chance in Abby's lab to check out Gibbs's ass as he left and she wasn't going to change now, she knew Abby would suspect something if she did.

"Didn't say I didn't enjoy it Abs." Kate chuckled.

Gibbs left the girls to talk and returned to his desk first, Jenny watched, he looked happy. Kate returned from visiting Abby saw that Ziva was at Tim's desk "Morning Gibbs." Kate lisped.

"Morning." he smiled.

"Good morning Officer David."

"Good morning Special Agent Todd." the women smiled at one another. Gibbs had even given Ziva a smile and a 'Morning'.

"These were with my things." Kate handed him a slender box before sitting down, he nodded. Opening it he pulled out a pair of reading glasses, Jenny smirked, somehow in time they'd been undercover Kate had gotten Gibbs to wear reading glasses.

Jenny waited for Tony and his usual barely on time arrival, he grinned seeing Kate but looked confused when he saw Ziva at Tim's desk. "Boss, the Israeli chick is at McGoo's desk." he said setting coffee on Gibbs's desk.

"Chick?" he heard the 'I'm going to kick your ass' tone in Kate's voice.

"Woman?" Tony offered.

"I know where she's sitting DiNozzo, been there since…" Gibbs looked to Ziva, she'd been there when he came up from Abby's

"6:45." she supplied, she'd come in shortly after Kate. "He said it was alright, he had work to do in the basement."

"Ugh." Tony grimaced putting his things at his desk he started his morning ritual, emails and checking the news. "So McGeek gets to play with all the other geeks and we're on paperwork, this sucks." Tony muttered.

Kate caught an I.M. message in the corner of her screen, she rolled her eyes sure it was from Abby about Gibbs she clicked it open anyway she knew better then to ignore I.M.s from the Goth. It was Gibbs.

He watched her expression change from shock to a smile.

'Lunch.'

'Okay.' she typed back, she knew he got the message when he grinned.

Gibbs watched Kate grin then her eyebrow arch, he could read the amusement on her face. She typed and he watched her send and then type and send again. 'Tony thinks you're reading dirty emails.' Gibbs chuckled, Tony's head snapped in Gibbs's direction, grinning Gibbs opened the next message from Kate 'And that's not helping.' knowing Tony was watching him Gibbs typed and sent a message to Kate.

Tony opened his I.M. from Kate 'Dirty emails? Don't you think Gibbs is above sending dirty emails?'

'Didn't say sending said reading.' Tony typed shaking his head.

Kate shook her head answering Tony 'Only you send or read dirty emails.'

Paperwork kept them busy their first day back, Jenny couldn't believe what Gibbs was letting the trio get away with. All three had earpieces in and were listening to music. Tony's give away was he would forget and begin to sing along, she saw Kate quickly and silently throw something at Tony to get his attention and then shake her head with a stern look. He would instantly shoot her an apologetic look, and quietly type again dancing in his seat. Gibbs would smirk. Ziva just quietly bobbed her head along to the beat, if you missed the wire and earpiece you would just assume she was humming to herself as she read different files that Jenny herself had given her. Kate was the tricky one to catch. Like Ziva her hair hid the earpiece and wire attached to it, and like Ziva she was quiet but Kate rocked in her chair as her fingers flew across the keys, she looked as if she were playing a classical piece on the piano only occasionally interrupted by her tossing the occasional, whatever at Tony.

Ducky arrived at lunch with Abby on his arm and McGee by his side "Alright Anthony, Miss David it is time for lunch." Although slightly confused Ziva followed Tony out of the bull pen taking Ducky's other arm "I know this delightful cafe I'd like to share with you, they have an absolutely marvolus selection of dishes."

"Is it the place with the hot waitress?" Tony asked straightening his tie.

Chuckling Kate closed down her computer before grabbing her purse and weapon, Gibbs grabbed his weapon as well tossing his coffee cup as he stood. They walked slow as to have to catch the next elevator and not be bunched in with the team.

"Never been here before." Kate looked around the diner stepping in first.

"Little home away from home." Gibbs gestured her to a booth. "They got good pie and coffee."

"Always a plus." Kate nodded. Sliding into one side of the booth Kate tucked her purse next to her by the wall "So what's good here, aside from pie and coffee."

"Well hello," the waitress smiled at the duo as she filled their coffee cups, Elaine had been a fixture since Gibbs had been coming to the diner, curvy and flirty she was Gibbs's favorite waitress. "I was beginning to think you didn't know anyone aside from Ducky, delightful man, kinda chatty." Gibbs and Kate chuckled knowing she meant it in a nice way. "What can I get you today Gibbs, steak and eggs?"

"That'd be fine Elaine, thanks."

"So you gonna make me ask or are you going to introduce me to your friend?" Elaine bumped Gibbs with her hip.

Chuckling Gibbs gestured to Kate, "Kate this is Elaine, makes the best pie and coffee around, Elaine this is Kate Todd." he didn't need to say more, Elaine nodded impressed.

"Well, pleasure to finally meet you Kate." Elaine nodded "May I recommend the blt on toasted wheat bread with a side of fries?"

"Yes Ma'am, thank you." Kate nodded with a smile.

"I'll leave you two to chat." Elaine winked at Gibbs.

"Thanks Elaine." Gibbs chuckled.

"I like her." Kate smiled putting the cream and sugar in her coffee.

"Thought you might." Gibbs smirked.

Sitting quietly for a moment Gibbs thought of everything he wanted to say, all the things he wanted to warn her about, he was a bastard she knew that but before he could speak she did. "I was reading a memo this morning." Kate started "They're looking for people to join a new department...profilers," Kate continued slowly "if I were to join that department no one could claim favoritism when we start dating." Gibbs smiled at her 'when' and not 'if' they started dating. "The new Director sent me an email, she wants to talk to me about heading up the department, it would be a promotion if I took it." Gibbs nodded.

"She knows you're talented, you've more experience, classes and degrees then anyone else here and it's no secret the FBI has been calling you..."

"Because Abby has a big mouth." Kate laughed but quickly returned serious "It would mean less time together at work..."

"But more time together after." Gibbs finished for her. "I'll share ya at work Kate as long as I don't have to share you after." Gibbs said simply.

"I'm a one guy kinda girl Gibbs." Kate reached out squeezing his hand. "We'll just take it slow, I'll take the job, we need someone to take my spot, have to keep Tony on his toes and look out for McGee."

"I'll do some checking." Gibbs promised.

"Alright my dears here is lunch and if he gives you any problem..."

"I'll shoot him." Kate smirked at Gibbs earning a loud laugh from Elaine as she put their plates down in front of them.

Patting Gibbs's shoulder she walked away saying "I like her, don't screw this up."

Jenny continued watching them off and on through the day, their return from lunch proved amusing. A dozen orange roses on her desk, Kate stopped laughing with whoever she was on the phone with and smiled at the bouquet hanging up. "Flower Boy strikes again." Tony shook his head stating "Gibbs finds out who this guy is he's gonna break his legs."

Abby smacked Tony in the back of the head defending Gibbs. "Gibbs would never break a guy's legs, an arm yes," Jenny could swear she saw Kate smirk. "but not his legs."

"Thanks Abs." Tony jumped at the sound of Gibbs's voice. "If you want out early finish it up." he gestured to the files on Tony's desk, twice the size as Kate's. Kate was already writing her email to the Director about the job offer and asking when she wanted to meet to discuss the details if she took the job.

"Boss, can't we do something else?" Tony muttered. "It's not fair, Kate's' cheating." Gibbs ignored him and went to his own desk returning to his own paperwork. Tony glared at Kate, this time Jenny saw Ziva flick something at Tony, "Boss!" Tony covered his ear, Gibbs chuckled.

"DiNozzo, you do know that they can both kick your ass?"

Tony sat for a moment looking from Kate to Ziva, frowning when he realized Gibbs was correct both women had training he never had as a simple policeman, their training had been of a higher standard. He concentrated on his paperwork occasionally shooting glares at the women who ignored him, or flicked or threw something at him as they did their own paperwork, Ziva still reading the files from Jenny and Kate putting old files into the database.

"Special Agent Todd." Kate cradled her phone as she kept typing, straightening up she stopped "...yes Ma'am, I'll be right there." hanging up the phone she closed her computer back down before nodding to Gibbs and looking at the stairs, Gibbs nodded back.

"Where you going Kate?" Tony watched her head up the stairs, realizing she was heading to the Director's office Tony cringed "Boss is Kate in trouble?" Ziva glanced up before burying her nose back in the files.

"Kate doesn't get in trouble that's you." McGee said walking into the bull pen. "Hey Boss, they did a number on the computers..."

"Bottom line?" Gibbs looked up from his computer.

"They need me another week, unless I figure it out sooner." McGee explained.

"Get to it." Gibbs nodded going back to his emails.

"Thanks Boss." McGee nodded "Hey Ziva." he smiled giving her a little wave.

"Hello MuGee." Ziva smiled.

"If you liked that place Ducky took us there's a coffee shop near here that has some really good pastries, we could check it out tomorrow."

"That would be nice, thank you." she smiled giving him a wave as he left.

Kate was with the Director for a least an hour, by Tony's count, Kate was smiling as she shook the Director's hand agreeing with the two words Tony could make out "Next week."

"I'll be ready, thank you."

Jenny watched as Kate rejoined her team in the bull pen, Gibbs and Ziva simply nodded when Kate returned to her desk while Tony bounced in his seat like a nervous toddler. "What'd ya do Kate?"

"Nothing DiNozzo, she just wanted to talk to me." Kate said starting her computer.
