His arms were wrapped around her middle, his stocking feet up on the coffee table while her legs stretched across the couch her own shoes on the floor with his, her arms resting over his Kate was cuddled snugly against him as they watched the classic western. It wasn't what Gibbs thought their first date would be, he thought dinner out and maybe being dragged to a movie, but when Kate had showed up with Chinese food and beer instead he wasn't going to argue when she held it up and said "First date." Maybe it was the dimple, when she smiled or the twinkle in her eyes but when Gibbs let her in he locked the door behind her so they wouldn't be disturbed.

Yawning Kate snuggled closer, it was nice to have a date where you weren't getting groped or having to answer why she worked such a dangerous job. Having read each others files during the course of work had answered all first date questions and spending two years working with each other they had learned a lot about each other as well. Kate was fine taking it what ever speed that Gibbs was comfortable, he had more baggage than she did, she knew he would talk to her about it when he was ready.

"When you gonna tell the team about your promotion?" Gibbs nudged Kate's head with his chin reminding. "You move upstairs Monday."

"Monday, that way I don't have to be dragged to a club or bar to 'celebrate' my promotion." Kate chuckled pulling finger quotes on 'celebrate'. "Ducky says we can do a lunch."

"Coward." Gibbs chuckled.

"Would you like to go clubbing?" Kate said glancing up.

"No." Gibbs chuckled again.

"So then why would I tell them?" when she began moving Gibbs released her sitting up, situating herself on his lap so he could see her face Kate smiled taking his arms and putting them back around her "I don't want to spend the night at a club or bar avoiding drunken men trying to grope me when I can spend the evening on the couch in the arms of the one guy I want."

He saw the truth in her eyes, even though the often argued if eyes could lie, leaning forward he gently kissed her lips, he'd kissed her many times during their undercover, held her many times during that time as well but this kiss was their first kiss. Slipping her arms over his shoulders she linked her hands together behind his neck as she kissed him back. Pulling slightly back Gibbs murmured "Better than a club?"

"Way better." Kate softly smiled putting her hand on the back of his head and pulling him back into the kiss.

It was Saturday and it seemed it was Gibbs's turn to show up at the door with a bag of food and a bottle of wine, "I know they don't do take out, so how'd you manage?" Kate asked leading him to her small kitchen table.

"Can't give up all my secrets." Gibbs chuckled pulling a small figure 8 dog rope out of his back pocket before dropping it next to Toni's dog bed.

"You're going to spoil her." Kate shook her head.

Putting the bag on the table he followed Kate to the cupboard wrapping his arms around her waist "I will always spoil my girls."

"I'm far from a girl Gibbs." Kate lisped.

"My girl." Gibbs bumped her head with his own before kissing her cheek.

"And what's being your girl entail?" Kate asked laying her arms over his. "Are you going to carry my books to class? Do I get your letter man jacket?"

"Smart ass." Gibbs bumped her head with his again releasing her, laughing Kate grabbed the plates and silverware.

"And you wouldn't want me any other way."

"Be boring." Gibbs said grabbing two wine glasses and joining her at the table to empty out the bag.

Dinner at Kate's was very similar to dinner at Gibbs's, they ate and talked about telling the team "So obviously Ducky knows about both my promotion and us, we had the 'talk' at lunch." Gibbs chuckled "We can either tell the team on Monday at lunch or we can give it a week and tell them then."

"What do you want to do?" Gibbs asked, Kate shook her head laughing.

"Nice try, nope, it's what do we want to do." Kate sipped her wine.

"Play it by ear." Gibbs shrugged.

"They bring it up, we admit it." Kate agreed. "Abby's going to bring it up the second I mention my promotion."

"Abby?"

"She knows I like you." Kate admitted before taking a bite of her dinner.

Gibbs smirked "She knows I like you too."

Swallowing Kate laughed saying "That explains so much."

Kate smiled at her big sister Rachel, in age only, matched in height and coloring it was easy to see they were sisters. "It's nice to have company, I just wish it were other circumstances." Kate took her sister's hand as they took the stairs of the church, she was glad her sister had moved to town.

"New town, new start, no ex." Rachel nodded. "It's okay, but you have to tell me your news."

Kate smiled "I took the promotion, I start Monday building my team of profilers from first within the office and then outside, give our people the opportunity for advancement and change."

"Oh Kate, I'm so happy for you." hugging her sister Rachel smiled then grinned asking "So what does this mean for you personally, are you going to take the leap?"

"I already did." Kate laughed when Rachel pulled her in for another hug.

"When do I get to meet him? The man, the myth, the Marine." Rachel teased.

"Never." Kate gave her sister a playful shove.
