"So little sister how was your first day in your new office?"
"How was yours?" Kate countered joining her sister on her couch with two glasses of wine.
"I asked first." Rachel said taking the wine.
"Lots of paperwork." Kate chuckled. "I was reading through to see if anyone else can be pulled into profiling with little to no training, there's a few, I'm going to finish going through the files before I start talking to them next week. Now how was your day?"
"Lots of reading as well, I had to catch up on all the patients that are now mine." taking a sip Rachel waited for Kate to say more about her day.
"Ducky took the team to lunch to celebrate my new job," Kate pulled her feet up on the couch turning to face her sister who sat leaned against the other arm of the couch in a similar position "Abby was upset I didn't tell her about the job before so we could go clubbing to celebrate and she was upset I didn't tell her about Gibbs."
"How did you handle that?"
"I told her Gibbs and I had a date Friday so I wasn't going to leave him to go clubbing and we're figuring things out so we're taking it slow, she told me to sleep with him."
Rachel chuckled shaking her head "She sounds like a handful."
"She can be." Kate admitted. "Oh Tim said he'd help with your moving, I told him I'd ask but he grew up military so packing and moving is kind of his 'thing', he'd be a great help."
"I'll take all the help I can get, will Gibbs be helping?" Rachel asked, she was dying to meet the man.
Gibbs glanced up at the stairs, Tony stood at the top with a pizza, gesturing to an already poured glass of bourbon Gibbs returned his attention to his boat "Thought you'd be stopping by."
"It's my job." Tony said taking the steps "She's like a sister to me, sorta." he added knowing the smirk from Gibbs was because of all the flirting Tony did with Kate. "You know I did that just to get a rise out of the two of you." putting the pizza down he picked up the mason jar with the booze in it taking a drink. "You confuse the hell outta me Boss, I mean seriously why didn't you just ask her out? Why the game?"
"We both had personal stuff going on DiNozzo." Gibbs said picking up his sander. "We still do."
"I know you guys are gonna fight 'cause you're both stubborn as hell and got stuff to work through, but you know she's perfect for you and she'll call you on your shit." Tony said putting his drink down and grabbing the other sanding block.
"Trust me I know."
"And if you hurt her I'll burn your boat, pretty sure McGoo and Abby would help me." Tony said joining Gibbs at the boat.
"I know." Gibbs chuckled, he'd already gotten the 'talk' from Ducky.
"Abby still mad at you two?"
"She'll be fine tomorrow." Gibbs said unworried by the Goth's attitude.
"So are you sure Abby will be okay tomorrow?" Rachel asked placing her glass back on the coaster.
"I can bribe her if she's not." Kate chuckled "She's been asking to meet you."
"So lunch tomorrow and if she's still moody it'll be the two of you." Rachel chuckled.
"Pretty much." Kate nodded. "Have you heard from Mom and Dad?"
"Not since the divorce." Rachel shook her head explaining with a sigh, "I didn't tell them why we got divorced so they're wondering why we didn't work it out."
"Why didn't you tell them?"
"It's embarrassing." Rachel admitted.
"But you told me." Kate reminded.
"Because you've been there, only it was a boyfriend and not husband." Rachel rested her arm on the back of the couch. "And you know mom, she'll turn it around on me asking why I couldn't keep my husband interested or tell me I was neglecting him because of my job."
"I understand," Kate covered Rachel's hand with her own "its one of the reasons I stopped coming home for holidays, there's only so many times you can hear, 'When are you getting married' or 'Why haven't you brought any nice boys home?' And of course the blame always falls on my job."
"Danny says she's started asking him when he's going to propose to his girlfriend."
Kate couldn't help but laugh, their brother had constantly teased them about their mom ang her nagging them to get married and have kids and now because they had stopped coming home their mother went after him, he was the only unmarried son. "Serves him right.
"So now that you're not working with Gibbs are you going to go back for the holida..." Rachel hadn't even finished her question when Kate started laughing. "So that's a no." Rachel chuckled.
"It would be the same, and if I tell them about Gibbs," Kate sighed "they'll say he's too old or comes with too much baggage." shaking her head Kate said honestly "I'm done, I know what I want and I have it, I have Gibbs and he loves me."
