Apologies, mental health break
"So Breadstix is just the crews working on the club and studio, the party is our friends so some of our people will have already met and it should make the party less awkward for both sides." Santana said pouring a tumbler of nectar for herself and Quinn, they were getting ready to start dinner before Brittany joined them "Do you want to make the salad?"
"We could just have salad it would be fine." Quinn wasn't in the mood for hot food.
"Grab the feta." in their early travels the girls tended to stay around Greece and other areas of the Mediterranean learning and relearning the foods of the area. Most of the recipes they learned over the years they wrote down, technology made it easier to keep track of them all, they tended to learn from the locals or cooks from the mom and pop places. Some, like what tended to be called 'Greek salad', they knew by heart and didn't need to dig out the lap top that held only their recipes, they knew more Greek recipes than anything.
"Are you nervous or excited to have Brittany moving in tomorrow?" Quinn asked as they separated to gather all the ingredients.
"Both." Santana admitted, "I don't think she'll want to change our living room, but I know she'll want some of her things up in the bedroom."
"Are you ready for all her sunshine and rainbows?" Quinn chuckled.
"It's more, please put your mother's photo in the living room where she can glare at me disapprovingly and not in our bedroom where I plan many rated R activities."
Quinn snorted "I'm sure what you plan on doing is considered NC 17."
"Whatever." Santana rolled her eyes "I just don't need a picture of her mom in the room, I don't even have my mom in my room." Quinn knew Santana's hall held her personal photos, her hall was the same, she knew certain pictures from the New Orleans trip would soon be up in both their halls with a couple in the living room.
Bringing the feta Quinn slid into one of the seats at the counter waiting for her sister she quietly asked, "Is he going to be there?"
Santana didn't ask who 'he' was, she already knew "Yes, he's working with her security boys at the club, he's actually become quite close with her giant doorman." They didn't have to worry about the crews spilling the 'godly' beans at it were, her company was used to working with mortals. Putting the rest of the ingredients on the counter Santana went to gather the remaining items Quinn would need. "I'll make the dressing."
Standing up Quinn grabbed her cutting board, knives and bowls, one for her and one for Santana. "How do you think he'll respond if I tell him we're soul mates?"
"Do you want me to talk to him?" Santana asked putting her ingredients on the counter.
"I think if he brings up the company rules I might need your help."
"Let me know when you're going to talk to him, I'll let Matt know it's okay so he doesn't step in."
"Is it sad we're closer to our cousin than our own brothers and sisters?" Quinn asked, none of their siblings were coming to their party.
"I mean it's not like they've reached out." Santana stated starting on the dressing, she wasn't meaning just the Greeks, her mother had children with her first husband, they had never paid any attention to Santana and had ignored her since birth. Her mother of course wasn't happy but she couldn't force her sons to like Santana let alone pay attention to her, they may not have beaten her but they did nothing to stop it either. Hearing the knock the girls looked at one another, the only one they were expecting was Brittany and she had a key, the blade appeared in her hand as it dropped to her side.
"Maybe she forgot her key." Quinn suggested, she hated that she and Santana were still on edge.
"Maybe." Santana agreed going to answer the door, she still wasn't going to take chances. Quinn watched the empty archway, listening for anything. "Hi sweetie." Quinn relaxed hearing the relief in Santana's voice.
"I forgot my key at the studio."
"That's alright." Santana promised, Quinn was sure the moment her sister saw Brittany through the peep hole the sword had disappeared. "We're having salad for dinner, one of the first we learned and unchanged since then, the restaurants will have you believe they made it but the Greeks have been eating this long before the 60's."
"We learned from a γιαγιά in the early 1900's and I don't mean the 60's." Quinn chuckled. "Hi sweetie." smiling at Brittany she began cutting up the vegetables.
"That doesn't look like salad." Brittany eyed the vegetables.
"There are so many styles, you're just used to the lettuce type of salad, we have a chapter in our notes just for the different salads we've come across and the different dressings that go best with them." Quinn explained.
"Chocolate and bacon too." Santana said holding up a bottle of wine.
"Looks good." Quinn agreed, it was never about price with them it was about flavor and taste, something didn't have to be expensive to be good. It was only a few minutes before everything was set on the table and they began eating.
Brittany had a smaller amount of wine than Santana and Quinn as she was driving home, not that wine really affected them but it wasn't Brittany's first choice of drink, Santana had given her a tumbler of nectar too. "Social media invite, texting or phone calls?" Quinn asked plating for herself.
"Group text for both, Britt text her group for both and I'll text and email ours since the party's to introduce her to our people and Breadstix is all my people that helped with the security update."
"I can handle the party text, you handle your work email."
They were sprawled on the couch together each on their phones texting and emailing all involved while watching a movie, Santana wasn't sure how she ended up with both blondes feet in her lap but she did. Emailing all involved in the security upgrades with the club and studio Santana included Dave and Shannon too because they'd upgraded Pierce's for her, it wasn't a large group, because it was personal Santana had used her oldest and most trusted employees, ones that had been with her from the beginning. Unlike Matt they were strictly employees, the best in their sections, they deserved their recognition.
Quinn tapped Santana's elbow with her phone, "This should be everyone, I sent a group text to each set of friends and our moms." who finally had one another's numbers. "I sent a text to Dad for dinner a couple days later." Taking the phone Santana scanned them all, she wasn't included in the texts because that was Quinn's part of the deal.
"Looks good to me." handing the phone back she took Brittany's when it was offered as well.
"That's everyone." Her mom and Pierce, Mike and Tina were texted together but everyone else she texted individually. "That way Blaine and Kurt don't find out about each other going until they're already there."
"Good idea Britt." Quinn nodded. "Mercedes said she'll make sure Miss Millie and the girls come." Quinn said reading the text she'd just received.
