Shaggy stood on the curb, exhausted after his classes concluded. Yet, he'd chosen to go to Kendall College so he could open his own restaurant. He did understand he couldn't make outlandish dishes as he'd in the past, though. He'd never make a profit if he did. This semester, they're learning how to prepare meals based on the various diets people were on for medical reasons. Again, it was assisting him with Crystal and her sister. After all, their physiology was different from humans in multiple ways.

Again, their bodies couldn't process either sugar or gluten, which made things a bit complicated when preparing meals, yet he'd do anything for his girlfriend. Crystal also informed him she wasn't permitted to drink liquor due to her religion, which wasn't a concern as Shaggy didn't care for it either. He'd have to ask her more regarding her theology later.

All he recalled was they worshiped two deities. The male one is Jasper, and the female one is Jancinth, with them having similar roles to God and Mary. They've their own unique holidays and traditions. Again, their society didn't engage with anything deemed poison. This included alcohol, smoking, drugs, and gambling. They had a strong spiritual connection to the natural world and didn't condone killing or the death penalty. The exception was only as a last resort in the name of self-defense.

He was confident there was more. However, he couldn't think of any of it right now. Instead, he waited patiently outside for his girlfriend to pick him up. He, too, was wondering how her little sister's first day of Earth school went. Finally, his significant other showed up in her flower power jeep. "Hey, Crystal! How did things go today?" he asked as he climbed in.

"School was a pain in the ass!" she answered irritably. Sighing, she clarified, "One of the teachers undoubtedly plays favorites. I also think he's racist because he favors exclusively white people. On my planet, we don't have any concept of racism. We view each other as equals and never had that type of thinking. So, it shocked us during our missions to find out about it. Ugh! People can be so ridiculous due to superficial beliefs!"

"No doubt about that, Crystal. My mom once said racism combines ignorance, lack of intelligence, and weak will. All I know is it is true. People must learn to mind their business and realize we are all human," Shaggy agreed.

"Well, I'm not looking forward to explaining it to my sister. I get the feeling sooner rather then later, she'll be exposed to it. I want her to be prepared. I hope her first day of school went well," as they approached Ruby's new school.

"Yes, let's hope it does. When we return, I'll take the dogs for a quick walk. I believe its your turn to make dinner," he reminded her.

"Yep, it is. However, we agreed to listen to my sister's first school day. So don't forget it. I was surprised when you texted your shift tonight was canceled. Why was it canceled?" she asked curiously.

"The owner had a family emergency and decided to close the restaurant for the night. She sent all her employees a group text during lunch hour," he explained calmly.

"Well, I hope no one is seriously injured or sick. Anyway, let's pick up Ruby and go home," as they turned into the school's parking lot. Ruby stood on the front steps of the school. Her new friends had waited with her till her sister picked her up. She smiled and hugged them before waving goodbye. She had a massive smile as she got into the backseat.

The small family of three quickly returned home. Shaggy immediately took Scooby and Amber for their evening walk while Crystal started making dinner. Ruby, wanting to do something useful, started setting the table and preparing their dogs' dinner. She had realized already that she was expected to help around the apartment.

Half an hour later, they were eating dinner. Crystal then kindly asked Ruby to describe her day. Ruby paused in eating what looked like green Jell-O mixed with purple berries. She sighed before explaining. "It was significantly nervewracking at the beginning. So, I was grateful for both Chrissy and Cornelia. Despite the different configurations in the classrooms, I understood the arrangement. I was frustrated with the curriculum. Since its a bit behind our own, I didn't do anything to attract attention or say how wrong it was."

Crystal laughed, "Well, yes, humans are only slightly behind us. They're still at the high school level while we're in the college one. Regardless, I've no doubt humans could catch up if they fixed a few problems first," her older sister finished with a smile.

"Well, I can't play catch up, Crystal. I've got a hard enough time figuring out all the latest gizmos they keep coming out with," confessed Shaggy, which was true for many people.

"True enough, Shaggy. Even I need help with your people's smart devices. But I'm more interested in my sister's first day. So, please continue, sis."

"Well, when lunchtime began, I met Cornelia and Chrissy's companions—two boys of equal uniqueness. I believe one of them may be what you call biracial. I'm not a hundred percent sure. His name is Arsenio Flores. He was unlike anyone I ever encountered! He had black and red beaded hair, wore cosmetics, and had lots of piercings, and his clothing was different, too. He told me he wants to be an individual and doesn't care what others think of him."

"I've also found it peculiar, Ruby, that some guys wear makeup. Still, as my mom would say, to each his own. I've never desired it myself. However, when my friends and I gallivanted around the country, we encountered an abundance of extraordinary individuals," Shaggy pointed out.

Ruby looked at her sister's boyfriend with interest. "Please tell me about your adventures sometime in the future. I do love listening to stories."

"I promise, Ruby. Now what about this other boy?" he asked, to which the eleven-year-old blushed, which clued in the couple that Ruby liked the boy in question.

"His name is Arnette DuBois. He's a brilliant, snazzy dresser and remarkably friendly. He's got lovely short thick strawberry-blond hair and Heterochromia eyes, " she mumbled, not wanting to admit how attractive she found him. Ruby quickly described what her new friends were like. She felt they'd gotten off on the right foot. She was eager to see them again and continue getting to know them, maybe spending time with them outside school.

Her older sister and her beau only smiled. Ruby's first day showed she wasn't trying to make trouble. However, Crystal knew her sister's rebellious behavior was far from over. However, she remained satisfied her sister had at least made friends. Therefore, she hoped things would continue to work out in the future. Only time would tell, though.
