Swallowing Sam slowly walked to the grinning Latina, it wasn't a happy grin he'd recalled similar grins in the movies right before the bad guys 'taught' someone a lesson. Quickly running over everything in his head he tried to think of one thing that he'd done to piss her off, he'd heard enough about her to realize that she didn't always send the football players or other people after her enemies, she did some damage herself, serious damage. She'd said not to mess with Marley and he wasn't, she hadn't said anything about Unique, and he wasn't messing, he was trying to get on friend status with both of them. "Let's talk."
"S...Santana." he swallowed again.
"What's your game?" Pushing herself off the wall with a slight bounce Santana kept her arms crossed.
"Game?"
"You listened and have kept your little Suessian flirts away from Marley, for that you get to keep your nuts, unless you're messing with Unique." Santana put her hands on her hips "So tell me your deal? You've been all 'Green eggs and ham' since day one, and now you've taken over buying her breakfast, and you don't flirt with someone you just want to 'be friends' with." Santana brought her hands up using her fingers to quote around 'be friends'.
"Puck flirts with Tina."
"This isn't about Puck or Tina, they don't flinch when someone grabs their shoulders from behind," Santana watched him understand "there's the lightbulb. Lima isn't that accepting, we are, so know if you truly have feelings it's going to be a shit show. And if you don't have feelings, well then you'll have something in common with Lord Tubbington."
"Who?" Sam asked confused, Santana simply lifted up two fingers moving them as if they were a pair of scissors cutting. Sam cringed but didn't move his hands, he wasn't guilty of anything.
"I like Unique, I didn't know about the grabbing thing being bad for her, I did it all the time to my friends back home." he explained promising "I won't do it again, I'll make sure she sees me. I like her, I don't know what's going on today, she hasn't really talked to me. Can you find out?"
Rolling her eyes Santana nodded, but only because she was curious and wanted to know what was with the clothes. Pointing a finger at him she warned "Be a good boy and you won't have to see me be a very bad girl, it upsets Brittany."
"O..Okay." he nodded.
Once Santana joined them on the field Quinn took Santana's hand checking the knuckles for signs of damage or blood asking "How'd it go?"
"He says he likes her, meaning he didn't lie to Matt or Mike," Santana said taking her hand away, watching him as he stepped onto the field no pads, Santana waited to see what he was going to do, grinning he waved to the girls who were on the bench by Brittany "so I just gave him the big sister talk." Santana assured her. "Where the hell are their pads?"
"Did you threaten to kick or cut them off?" Quinn cringed it was crude but she needed to ask, she knew both were Santana's go to.
"Possibly both." Santana admitted pursing her lips. "Any idea where their pads are?"
"Good to know." Quinn nodded giving a shrug "I heard Beiste say something about flag football."
"Everything good?" Mercedes asked joining them.
"Yes, no violence we're fine." Santana waved her off getting a laugh from the black girl. "You people act like all I do is hit people."
"And make out with your girl." Mercedes pointed out.
"That is not all I do..." Santana paused thinking for a moment before muttering "shit, I need a hobby." causing the other two to laugh very loud catching many Cheerio and football players attention. "Shut up." pushing both girls away from her only made them laugh louder.
The Cheerios straightened up when Sue's golf cart pulled up, quickly gathering when they saw the bullhorn come up which only made Sue smirk.
It hadn't been the next day as she'd promised but Santana had separated Unique from Marley "Finn has questions, he's not the most delicate at saying things, he's not trying to be mean or anything but he's curious and trying to understand about you. If you'd like to talk to him I will call him over, if not that's okay too."
"It's okay." Unique said softly.
"Finnocence." Santana called him glaring at anyone that dared to follow him, Rachel stopped walking. "And we'll chat about what I saw this morning after." Santana wanted to make sure she was okay at home, if something happened and that's why the clothes were different. "Do you two want me to go?" Santana pointed over her shoulder.
"We're okay." Unique promised.
"Hi." Finn nervously wrung his hands in front of himself.
"Hi." Unique gesture to the bench they were by. "Santana says you want to understand." sitting she waited.
"I do... " straddling the bench he thought a moment before saying "I've said the wrong thing a lot, I know I'm not the smartest guy but I'm trying to understand, like why you dress like well," Finn gestured to the clothes "n...not this..." he stuttered then blurted "not that there's anything wrong with this. Um it's very nice." Unique couldn't help but smile assuring him.
"It's okay."
"Okay," Finn exhaled "why the dresses, I mean they're pretty" he quickly added "but what is it about them that makes you want to wear them?"
Unique thought for a moment "Why do you wear your number 5 shirt so much?"
"My jersey?" she nodded. "Because it's comfortable and who I am, the quarterback, well not anymore that's Sam." Finn slightly rambled.
"Well that's how dresses feel for me, it's who I am on the inside." she touched her chest.
"Then why are you dressed like this?" Finn gestured to the clothes again.
"That's another story," Unique took his hand in both of hers "for now, lets stay on this one."
Santana watched as they chatted Finn occasionally looking confused and blushing when Unique laughed, it wasn't a mean laugh and he would chuckle or laugh too, and with the quiet day Unique'd had Santana was happy to hear the normally boisterous freshman laughing. Standing up after about ten minutes the duo hugged before heading for the Unholy Trinity, Marley, Sam and Rachel, who had thankfully been reading her book on football so Santana didn't have to take her out.
Pushing Sam back against the car they were all leaned against Santana simply said "Me next." when in reality it was both her and Quinn.
"Um, hi." Unique stopped walking when she saw they were heading to her "I'm feeling very popular at the moment and not in a good way."
"What's with the clothes?" Santana scanned for visible marks or make up hiding marks.
"What do you mean?" Unique was not comfortable with the scrutiny.
"Dresses to this" she gestured to the pants "and a sweater vest to boot, tell me Schue suddenly isn't your go to for fashion tips." Santana gestured to the vest.
"I...my parents..." Unique dropped her head. "I had trouble at my last school, they transferred me, I should be a sophomore not freshman but I..."
"Had trouble." Quinn said softly getting a nod from Unique.
"Is this because of the rugby players?" Santana questioned.
"Mostly." Unique nodded "But my parents don't want me always dressing as a female, they're afraid I'm going to get hurt so the rugby thing has made it worse."
"They're okay with it though, the whole chick thing?" Unique couldn't help but chuckle, Santana was blunt so she was coming off sounding a bit like Finn, but Santana wasn't apologizing for her bluntness and Unique was grateful for a group that helped her be herself and protect her "They don't hit you or anything, cause I know a lawyer and she knows cops."
"No, no hitting. They're understanding the best they can." she promised.
"Alright but if things change?"
"I'll let you know." she promised with a nod.
"Now smile for your possible boy toy." Santana smirked.
"My what?" Unique looked back and forth at the girls as they walked away leaving her with the approaching quarterback. "Hello?" going to tuck her hair behind her ear Unique gave a little frown, no wig.
"Are you okay?" that time Sam caught it.
"Yes, thank you." she nodded.
Bouncing heel to toe Sam chewed the inside of his mouth before nervously inhaling "I was wondering since I'm new in town if you'd be able to show me places to hang out?"
"Don't you have friends for that?" Unique asked without thinking.
"Aren't you my friend?" Sam asked.
"Yes, yes We are." Unique said quietly.
Sam smiled, Unique hadn't referred to herself as a 'we' all day "So then what do you say, show me Lima? We can bring Marley if you'd like." he offered trying to make her comfortable. "I'm sure Matt would come along."
Unique giggled "I think he's sweet on her. And I would love to but I'm not from this side of Lima and I would have to ask my parents."
"Oh, um okay, here give me your number," Sam held out his phone "I'll text you then you have my number and you can tell me what your parents say." taking his phone Unique put her number in, giving him a smile she handed it back. "Cool, so then I will see you tomorrow night, yes?" Sam grinned, getting no answer he started walking backward "No?" still getting no answer but a giggle he added "Maybe?"
"Movies with Marley." she couldn't help but laugh as she shook her head.
"Alright, but soon." he pointed at her and then himself.
