A/N:
Part 2:
The appointment was set. Ozai didn't look forward to seeing Ursa, being in the same room as Ursa, or speaking to Ursa. His mood was rather sour as it had been a few days since he had seen Katara as she was forced to keep a distance. The two of them still texted and he'd see her in class still but she didn't speak to him. Clearly, she was upset with his decision to appease his son but he was doing this for the both of them. He couldn't let her lose her scholarship and pay this expensive school's tuition. Plus, he didn't want to have to work at another school. It was just too much and he rather liked living in the city versus moving to the outskirts to work at the nearest university.
Texting Katara while he waited in his car, Ozai was startled by a knock on his car window and looked up to see his wife eyeing him callously from the other side.
"Come on, Ozai. You can text your slutty girlfriend later." Ursa said.
Turning his phone off, Ozai got out of the car and shut the door a little harder than intended as he glared at his wife. "Why are we even doing this? You don't want to be married anymore."
"We're doing this for the kids." Ursa told him. "Now, stop being your usual brooding self and lets get this over with. I have a date tonight."
Oh, he just loved how she could keep her little boyfriend but he couldn't even see Katara unless in class. It annoyed him with the double standard and he knew, he just knew the therapist was going to take Ursa's side. He just knew it.
And as expected the therapist sided with Ursa. It drove Ozai mad with how he could never get a word out and he was shut down for having an opposing opinion. On his fifth visit, Ozai finally snapped when his loyalty to the family over the years was called into question.
"No fuck that!" Ozai stood up and shouted. "I've been slaving for this fucking family and marriage for years! I'm the one that loses sleep, work my ass off, puts food on the table, pays all the fucking bills! I do everything! And no one fucking askes how I'm doing! It's always 'me, me, fucking me'! What about me?! Am I not supposed to have a say in anything?!"
The therapist shook her head, "Ozai, we don't do outbursts."
"Fuck you, you spirit damn quack! This bitch of a woman kicked me out of the house that I'm still fucking paying for, still paying the bills on, and keeping supplied and then had divorce papers served to me! For what?! Because she saw a girl kiss me on the cheek?! Because I'm so busy supplying her every fucking desire! I almost killed myself over that shit! And the only thing that stopped me was a girl half my age that just wanted to be with me. Me, the boring teacher without a fucking backdone to stand up to his wife and children! I literally have been cucking myself for years over a marriage she never even wanted! Ask her, she'll tell you, she thought I was a mistake! I'm not even her type! I'm too 'boring' and 'lame' and 'brooding'! I comb my hair over and wear dress pants all the fucking time! I'm a four-eyed nerd that fell in love with a girl that was way out of his league and did whatever she said because I just wanted her to be happy and love me like I wanted- like I needed to be loved! So fuck you, you stuck up, toxic waste of a bitch!" Ozai turned to Ursa. "I'm done with you and this is the freest I've felt in the twenty plus years I've been your fuck up!"
Therapist call security on Ozai and put in an order to have him admitted to a facility after he confessed to being suicidal. They strapped him in a straight jacket and carried him out the building kicking and screaming.
"FUCK YOU SHIT HEADS! I'M NOT CRAZY! YOU'RE ALL CRAZY!" Ozai screamed at the top of his lungs before he was thrown into the back of the truck that would transport him to the facility for the mentally disturbed.
Katara had gone to class three days in a row to find her philosophy class was canceled. She texted Ozai every morning and got no reply, finding him unreachable. She stopped by his loft with the set of keys he gave her to his place and found it left neat like no one had been there in a few days. Something was wrong, she just knew it.
Reaching out to Zuko, Katara met him at the school cafe and sat at the outdoor table with him.
"What is it? Finally come to your senses about us?" Zuko smirked.
Katara made a look of disgust, "No, I wanted to know where your father is."
Sucking his teeth, "Oh my spirits," he rolled his eyes. "What? He is not answering your messages."
"And he's not been home." Katara pointed out. "And his classes have been canceled. I'm worried about him."
"What for? You're just fucking him."
Katara glared at him, "He's my boyfriend, okay, Zuko. We're together. It's not just some physical relationship like you and your mother think. I really care about him because sometimes it feels like no one ever has and I'm sorry you hate that so much but I really need to find him and make sure he's okay. I'm scared he might have done something to himself."
Zuko looked away from her and ruffled his hair a little, then glanced her way. "His in the looney ville."
"What?!"
Sighing as he turned back to her, "My dad admitted to the couple's therapist that he's felt suicidal and they had him admitted. He was supposed to get out over the weekend but he's not 'behaved' and they keep extending his stay."
Katara's mouth fell open as she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Tell me, where is this place? I need to see him."
"Kat, you're not going to want to see him like that. Trust me. I visited him the other day and he looks bad." Zuko told her.
"Tell me where he is, damn it!" Katara slammed her hands on the table.
Zuko got up from the table and refused, even as Katara screamed at him to tell her.
Back at her dorm, Katara curled up with her pillow plush Ozai bought her that time they went shopping and she threw some random stuff animal in the cart. She couldn't believe Ozai got put in an asylum or that he had been feeling suicidal. How did she not notice? He seemed fine when she was around. Was there something else going on with him? Did he feel that way over his wife? Because of the divorce?
Crying into her stuffed animal, Katara felt like an awful girlfriend and maybe she was. She was always toying around with him and being ovely sexual with him as if that would make things better for them. But she didn't know what to do. She really cared about him but none of that was enough to stop him from feeling so miserable that he thought about ending his life.
"Kat, what's wrong?" Suki asked as she came to sit on her bed beside her.
Katara shook her head, "I can't talk about it."
"Come on, is this about your professor boyfriend ignoring you just like Zuko? Sounds like the apple doesn't fall to far from the tr-"
"He's not ignoring me. He's in the hospital."
Suki's eyes widened. "Is he okay?"
"I don't know but no one will tell me what hospital so I can visit him. They all treat me like I'm a dumb mistress but I'm not. I'm his girlfriend and I really care about him. I just want to know how he is."
Suki rubbed her best friend's back as she cried into her stuff animal.
"Who the fuck are you?" They heard Sokka say as he opened the door.
"Get out of my way, you halfwit." They heard an older woman's voice and stood up.
Hearing the clinking of heels on the floor, the two college girl saw a old woman with black hair in a bun and red lipstick with high heels and a red tight dress on.
"Katara, was it?"
"Mrs. Yong." Katara narrowed her eyes at her.
"Please call me, Ursa." She said in an already annoyed voice. "I need to speak with you…alone."
Katara told Suki to leave the room for a moment and when she did, Ursa walked up to her.
"Look, child, I'm not upset with you for being my husband's little girlfriend. Quite frankly, I'm relieved because now I don't have to worry about him signing the divorce papers. However, I need to tell you, Ozai's not right in the head. He has issues he needs to work out with himself and I don't want you to be surprised when you find out he's not as stable as he likes to appear. Honestly, I blame his father for beating him so much in his youth but whatever, he's a tragic case now." Ursa explained.
Katara could only glare at this woman. How could she be so cold to talk about him like that?
"Anyway, I'm here to let you know where he is so you can get him to get a grip and maybe get his life together." Ursa pulled out a slip and handed it to Katara. "I already added you to the visitation list, so just bring ID but seriously, don't waste your youth on him. He's not that good a fuck to waste what little time you have at being young. Trust me, I know from experience."
With that the woman left and Katara finally had the information she needed to go see Ozai.
"Suki, can you give me a ride?"
Ozai sat in a chair that was bolted to the ground just for him since he liked throwing chairs at the therapist. He was currently sitting with the only therapist that wanted to work with him and they were making some progress.
"So, Ozai, tell me more about your family when you were a child. You said your mother died when you were about ten and your father oftentimes pinned you and your brother against each other." The therapist clicked his pin and was ready to take notes. "Was there anything you did that made you happy when you were a child? Do you have any good memories?"
Ozai sighed and ran his hand over his chin that was starting to grow quite a bit of hair. "I liked reading. My father was good for locking me in the shed with books he'd like to hit be with. So, sometimes I'd read them and I'd pretend I was whoever I read about."
"Were they fictional books?"
"Some."
"Any of them encourage you to become a philosophy teacher?"
Ozai shook his head.
"Well, any good memories?"
"I had a pet cat. She was a stray but she was mine. I took care of her until my father snapped her neck."
The therapist wrote this all down. "Do you think your childhood has made you an angry man? Or violent?"
"I'm not angry or violent. I'm a very calm person." Ozai bit out.
Chuckling, "Your stay here would say otherwise."
"Because this place is a prison." Ozai rolled his shoulders and switched his position in the chair as he looked around. "It makes me uncomfortable."
Sighing as he nodded, "I see. Well, we could let you go home once you agree to take your medicine."
"Medicine, what do I need medicine for?!" Ozai snapped. "Because I have a few issues with a major event that's taken place in my life?! How the fuck is medicine going to stop my wife from leaving me or make my children have more respect for me?! You tell me you fucking pansy ass doctor with your medical science and shit trying to tell me I'm crazy because I'm fed up! Fuck you, you fuck face!"
Therapist sighed and shook his head, "Very well, Ozai. You're just going to be here longer since you can't seem to calm down."
"I AM CALM!" Ozai screamed at the therapist.
"Security!"
Ozai picked up the chair, ripping it from the bolts tethering it to the floor, and was about to smash it on this stupid ass doctor that was refusing to let him go home. The men in white suites tackled him to the ground. They quickly injected him in the ass with serum to sedate him. Falling still as he stopped struggling, Ozai begged the doctor to let him go home but was dragged back to his room.
A week went by before his therapist returned to visit him.
"So, your wife was telling me you're involved with one of your students. Tell me how that's going."
Holding his head in his hands as he was absolutely done with this place, Ozai lifted his head and stared at the doctor. "I wouldn't know. You've completely cut me off from her."
"Well, how did it start? You and your student."
"I almost hit her with my car." Ozai told him. "Right after I had decided to cheat on my wife with an escort."
The therapist took notes, "And so you cheated with your student instead?"
"No, I just took her to the bar to make up for almost ending her short life and we talked. She kissed my cheek and left and apparently, my wife thought I was having an affair but I wasn't. So she kicked me out after we argued and now we're getting a divorce."
The therapist tapped his finger to his lips, "When did your relationship became sexual with your student?"
"Like when I had sex with her or when we were just fooling around?" Ozai was confused by the question.
The therapist took some more notes on that, "When you first became physical with her."
Ozai sighed and leaned back in his chair, "I don't remember. She's a forward girl. She's kind of been touchy with me from the beginning but I tried to remain professional."
"So she initiated the relationship?"
Ozai nodded.
"And because you were in a bad place with your life and marriage, you eventually caved?"
Ozai nodded again.
"Sounds like she's more of an escape from reality for you and less of a girlfriend. You're using her to cope with the things missing in your life because she provides it in a way that your mind is able to process and register as forms of love. She has sex with you which is a physical manifestation of what we call love, she cooks, cleans, and showers you in affection which is a maternal form of love, she's nice to you and comforts you which is another way of showing someone you love them. She's everything you're needing in this time of your divorce and deep self-loathing, but she's not real is she."
Ozai raised a brow, "What the hell are you talking about?"
Chuckling, "I mean, she is real but she's not real in the sense that you're actually in love with her. You're using her, taking what she gives you, all while giving nothing in return or doing anything to deserve it. You're trying to escape the reality of your life and the pain in it by being with this girl that's much younger than you. Besides, it's taboo which only makes you crave it more as our human instinct desires the things we cannot or should not have."
"What are you trying to say? That I don't really love her?" Ozai narrowed his eyes at the therapist.
The therapist knew another chair was about to go flying.
Remaining calm, Ozai shook his head, "I know what love is and that's what I feel for her. You think I'm using her because of our age difference but it's not like that."
"How so?"
"It's the same feeling I used to have for my wife but only it's more than that. I feel like I change for the better and work on the things that I've alway struggled at because I just want to be good enough for her." Ozai's eyes got a little red as he sniffled and looked away. "I'm never good enough but for her I want to be."
"What's she like?"
"She's crazy as all hell and leaves me speechless a lot." Ozai tried not to laugh as he placed his hand over his mouth. "And she sings when she cooks, stares at the moon, keeps telling me how she wants to go to the beach during the summer. She likes when I take my glasses off because it makes me look younger to her. When she stays over she likes to let me lay in her lap while she plays with my hair and she sings me to sleep some nights when I can't rest my mind. She's the funniest person I've ever met and I told her to let me fix things with my wife but to wait for me cause I couldn't stand up to my own son and I think I'm going to lose the best thing that's happened to me because I let people walk all over me."
"Does she walk all over you?"
"No, she pushes me to be more vocal and speak my mind."
"Sounds like an interesting young person. Maybe I'm wrong. I could be but you need to work on yourself as you said, you want to be good enough for her right? How long have you two been together?"
"Five months."
"Short time to fall for someone but my parents married after only a month together and are still together."
A nurse walked up to the therapist and whispered in his ear before leaving. The therapist adjusted his clipboard and stood up.
"Looks like you've got a visitor." the therapist sighed. "Remember, if you keep calm and don't throw anything, I can release you in a few days."
….
Katara twiddled her fingers as she saw the people around her visiting their loved ones at the facility. She was so worried. Both Zuko and Ursa said he wasn't doing well and the doctors wouldn't let her see him last week because he had gotten in trouble for bad behavior. But she was finally going to get to see him again and she hoped he was doing better today than before.
Spotting him in all white scrubs, Katara stood up from the table and watched his eyes fall on her. They looked so dull but immediately lit up when they fell on her. She bounced around a little as he walked up to her and she embraced him tight, ignoring the security lady that was telling them to break it up because touching the patients was not allowed.
"Hey! What did I say?! Break it up! Or this visit is over!"
Pulling apart, Katara sent a glare at the security woman and took a seat. "Ozai, I-"
"What are you doing here? How'd you find me?" Ozai looked at her like she shouldn't be here.
Katara sighed and shook her head as she discreetly took his hand. "Ozai, I got worried and asked Zuko where you were but he only said you were in an asylum. He wouldn't tell me where but your wife came by and told me as well as add me to the visitor list."
Sighing as he hung his head in shame, "I didn't want you to see me like this."
"Why?" She reached for his face.
"Put that hand back, missy!" The security lady shouted from across the room.
Rolling her eyes as she retracted her hand, "Look, I don't care. I didn't realize you were dealing with inner turmoil. But it'll be fine. Whatever's going on you can tell me and I'll be here, okay? I just want you to be okay."
Ozai finally looked at her and saw her looking at him with deep concern.
"Look at you. Your hair is a mess and you haven't shaved. They need to let you come home."
"They won't let me unless I take my medicine." Ozai groaned.
"Medicine? How's that going to fix your divorce and shitty wife?"
"My sentiments exactly." Ozai shook his head.
"Well, just do whatever they say and come home so we can deal with things together, okay?"
Ozai nodded. "Fine. I will."
"And no more throwing things at your therapist! I came to visit you last week and they told me you were sedated because you were trying to bash your therapist with a chair! Stop that! You're not a cave man even though you kind of got the look going for you." Katara tilted her head at him. "Can you wait to shave after we spend some time in your bedroom because damn daddy!" she bit her lip.
Ozai covered his face as people looked at them after Katara yelled that last part.
"You're going to make people think I have a kink for that and I'll be here longer." He whispered to her.
"But you love when I call you daddy." Katara whispered back.
"Can you go one moment without trying to seduce me?"
Katara shook her head.
Sighing, "Fine. Just wait for me at my apartment. I should be out in a few days."
The two stood up and Katara threw her arms around him and kissed him on the lips repeatedly as the security lady started yelling at them.
"That's it, you little fast ass! Let's go! Your visit is up!" The security lady pulled her away.
"I'll wait for you, baby!" Katara said from across the room causing Ozai more embarrassment as he palmed himself.
One of the other patients leaned over to him and whispered, "I'd be throwing chairs too if they locked me up in here when I have a girl like her on the outside."
As soon as the door opened, Katara ran down the steps and jumped Ozai when he walked through the door. He caught her and stumbled against the door while she kissed him all over his face. She completely ignored the fact that his two kids were in the doorway and tried to stick her tongue down his mouth.
"Katara! Stop!" Ozai told her as she overloaded him with her affection.
"But I miss you!" Katara climbed off of him as he moved himself to where the island counter was between them.
"Hey, stop being gross with my dad, you whore." Azula spat at her.
Katara rolled her eyes, "I'm not a whore, you bitch."
"Don't you two go fighting." Zuko scoffed as he took a seat on the bar stool and looked to his dad. "Are you going to be okay with her around?"
Ozai nodded.
"Alright, well me and Azula are going to head out but call if you need us to come over."
Ozai nodded again.
As soon as they were gone, Katara slammed the door shut and locked it. Turning her gaze on her boyfriend and smirked as she walked up to him, running her hand up his chest and tilting her head.
"I've missed you alot, daddy." Katara purred.
"I just got home and you already want to pounce me." Ozai chuckled.
Katara nodded while giving him the puppy dog look, "It's been one month, three weeks, five days, thirteen hours, four minutes, and twelve second since we last had sex. I need you." Katara took his hand put it between her legs so he could feel how wet she was.
Ozai sighed and grabbed her, throwing her over his shoulders as she cheered, telling him to give it to her rough.
….
The semester ended with Katara passing Professor Yong's class with an A, not that their relationship had anything to do with it, she just happened to be a dean's list student to begin with. But with the end of the semester, the two could be more open about their relationship as she was no longer taking his class and neither could be penalized. The two went on the date they had planned before things took a downward spiral and Katara confessed to being in love with him which led them to the bedroom to bump uglies.
"I'm going to cum!" Ozai growled into her shoulder as he helped move her hips against his.
Holding to him as she moaned in his ear, "Me too, daddy."
"Stop calling me that!" Ozai spilled out into the condom he was wearing as she clung to him tight.
However, Katara's eyes widened as she realized something and quickly got off of him.
"What?"
Katara looked at the condom and saw it had broken. "Ozai! It broke!"
"Fuck!"
The two spent the better half of a month taking several pregnancy tests only to come back negative which sort of felt like a let down to Katara.
"What? This is a good thing." Ozai pointed.
"Yeah but wouldn't it be nice to have a baby?"
Ozai raised a brow at her.
"Come on, Ozai, don't you want to have a baby with me?"
Ozai decided to say nothing.
"Please, Ozai, make a baby with me."
"You're still in school."
"I graduate next semester." She pointed out. "Plus, you already had me move in with you and we've had a great relationship. I mean, this whole scare has given me baby fever."
Ozai had to admit, he did kind of wonder what a baby between them would look like and he didn't mind having another kid but he only wanted one more. He made that very clear to Katara.
"Only one." He bit out sternly.
"So you're gonna give me a baby, Professor?" She batted her eyes at him seductively.
Ozai nodded as he snatched her around her waist and pushed her up against the island counter, pulling her dress up. He undid his pants and shoved himself in immediately, fucking her tight cunt hard as he pulled her hair.
"That's it, daddy. Give it to me." Katara moaned.
"Keep calling me daddy and I'm going to fuck you in the ass instead."
"Do it, daddy, fuck me in the ass!"
Ozai pulled out and spit on his dick before pushing it into the much tighter hole, clenching his teeth as he pushed into the hilt. He pulled out slowly and pushed back in, working his way up to a good fucking. When it came time to cum, Ozai pulled out and shoved himself in her pussy, spilling his seed into her.
"Fuck, this is so much better than pulling out or condoms." Ozai pulled out of her and plopped on the sofa.
Katara wiggled her butt a little as bend over a little more to see his cum dripping out of her.
"You're cleaning that." He pointed at the mess she just made.
After nonstop unprotected sex for a month, Katara took a pregnancy test and waited around the corner for the test to comeback positive. She held onto Ozai's middle, bouncing around as she just knew it would be their desired result. However, it was a negative test and Katara pushed Ozai up the stairs to continue trying for a baby. The pair were fucking like rabbits. So much so that it was wearing on Ozai. As much as he liked having sex with his young and very active girlfriend, he couldn't keep up at his age. She was doing too much and requiring more of him than he had to give. The girl practically jumped him in his office after hours trying to get pregnant. Not to mention, they couldn't even go to the theater or shopping at the mall without her wanting to fuck him. They had fucked in a public restroom, the dressing room, the movie theater, his car, at the park in the woods, in his office, in the classroom, in the apartment complex pool, and other places they had no business fucking in. As much as he loved her and wanted to have a baby with her, he was putting his foot down.
"Katara, that's enough. I can't keep doing this. You're taking the fun out of sex." Ozai told her as he had to keep the island counter between them since she was trying to jump him during his nap.
"But I want a baby, Ozai! I can't do that by myself!" Katara climbed the island table and leapt off of it onto him, tackling him to the floor.
While Ozai was trying to stop Katara from pulling down his sweatpants, the door was knocked on and the two paused to look over to it.
"Who is it?" Katara answered.
"Your brother! Now open up!"
Katara looked down at Ozai and smiled awkwardly as he raised a brow at her. They agreed not to involve each other's family in their relationship for the time being and Katara hadn't mentioned a word to hers at all. It couldn't be helped that his family knew about her but he didn't discuss her with them either. They just kept things private, including the fact they were living together.
Getting off the floor, Ozai went upstairs to not be bothered by whatever family issues Katara had which were a few from what she told him. With him out of the way, Katara answered the door and saw her brother looked very pissed off.
"Tell me why I found a pregnancy test in the trash at your dorm?" Sokka asked his younger sister. "I hope you're not screwing around because last I checked, you and Zuko are not together anymore."
Katara pulled her hair behind her ear, "Well, I've been dating someone for several months and we had a scare. That's all."
"I swear, Katara. If you get pregnant, mom and dad are going to lose it." Sokka warned her.
Rolling her eyes, "Well, if I want a baby, I don't see why I can't have one. I'm about to graduate and I'm in a pretty serious relationship, so…I think I've got things covered and don't need them to have a say."
Sokka glared at her, "You're trying to get pregnant, aren't you?"
Looking away from him, "No."
"You are! Katara, don't be stupid! Mom and dad haven't even met the guy and you're trying to have a baby with him!"
"Well, we want to keep things private."
"How private is it going to be with you getting pregnant, Katara? Think! You think I'm going to be okay with your 'private' relationship if it means I won't be able to see my niece or nephew?"
"Sok-"
"Look, bring him to mom's for dinner sometime before you go knocking yourself up."
"Is that all, Sokka?" Katara asked him.
"Yeah, that's about it."
"Get out." Katara slammed the door in his face.
When the door shut, Ozai came back downstairs and sighed as he pulled Katara in his arms. "Your brother is right. We're going to have to tell them about us."
"My dad is going to kill you. Let me get pregnant first then we tell them. That way he'll hesitate because you're the baby's father." Katara said as if it were a well thought out plan.
"How about I just call to meet with your father and I tell him directly? Better coming out to him first." Ozai said as he pulled out his phone and dialed Hakoda.
…..
"Hey, bud, how are you doing?" Hakoda said as he sat at the booth with his old college pal.
Adjusting his glasses, "I'm doing alright for someone that's getting a divorce."
Hakoda's mouth dropped, "Ursa's leaving you?"
"Yes, but I welcome it. We haven't been happy with each other in a long time. Plus, I've moved on."
"You have?" Hakoda was even more shocked. "You, the man that's still somewhat of a dork, moved on."
Furrowing his brows at the insult, "I'm not a dork, Hakoda. I just have my quirks."
"What poor soul decided to let you get on top of her?" Hakoda laughed.
Your daughter, Ozai thought to himself as he sipped his beer he ordered before Hakoda showed up. "She's actually supposed to be meeting us but she's a student."
"A student? How'd you snag someone so young?"
"Trust me, I wasn't looking. She came onto me and given my situation, I wasn't exactly against it."
"If some young pussy threw itself at me, I'm not passing it up either. I'm just glad to know you're banging someone other than Ursa. Sheesh."
Ozai had suddenly remembered that Hakoda dated Ursa back in college when the two of them split up for a little while. Apparently, Ursa was quite popular with the guys back in the day while he couldn't even get a girl to give him the time of day. Ozai rubbed his temple as he hated thinking about how awful he was with women. His only real success being a horny college girl that just happened to want a baby with him.
The two caught up on other matters for a little bit. Hakoda talking about all the women he had been with on the road as a traveling bounty hunter. He confessed to not knowing what the kids were up to since they were so busy with their lives and he was busy with his. Ozai confronted him about how he never said he had a daughter or son. Hakoda shrugged and told him that he married a woman from back home and knocked her up twice before they divorced a little while later.
"Kya was a good woman. Too good for me but I wouldn't mind if you decided to a go at her. She's beautiful, man. You've got to meet her."
If she looked anything like Katara, then he was sure she was lovely and he would be meeting her soon. But first….
"Hey, dad!" Katara waltzed up to the table and hugged her dad.
Hakoda was surprised to see his daughter.
"Hey, sweetheart, what are you doing here? Meeting some friends."
Katara shrugged, "Just meeting up with my boyfriend." She told him.
"Boyfriend? Let me meet him."
"Well, you kind of already have." She said as she slid into the booth with Ozai and smiled at her dad.
Hakoda raised a brow as it was taking him a moment to catch onto what the fuck was going on here. When it came to him, Hakoda sat back down and his expression became a grim one.
"So…you two are…what? Dating?"
"Well, we're a little more than dating now, dad." Katara said as if it were no big deal and hugged Ozai's arm to her. "We're actually working on having a baby."
"A what?!"
"Hakoda-"
"Don't say shit to me, you fucking pervert! What the fuck do you think you're doing with my daughter, huh?! You're fucking my daughter, are you?!"
"Technical-"
"Yes, I'm sleeping with him. That's what you do when you're in a relationship, dad. How else do you think we're going to make this baby?"
Hakoda snapped and stood up, "Get up, Ozai. We're taking this outside."
Ozai sighed and got up. "I'm not fighting you."
"Oh, yes you are." Hakoda said. "If you can fuck my daughter, then you can take this ass whooping. It's the only way I'm allowing it."
And so Ozai let Hakoda deck him in the face but when he tried going for his nuts, the college professor snapped and tackled him onto the pavement and they began really fighting. Eventually, the cops were called and they were both placed under arrest. Katara told Ozai that she'd see him at the station and kissed him before the cops threw him in the backseat.
Due to his admission to the psychiatric ward, Ozai was readmitted and transported from the police station to the ward. His first day back and his former therapist sighed as they were meeting again.
"From the police report, looks like you've fought a former college friend. Want to talk about it?" the therapist asked.
Folding his arms, "He's the father of my girlfriend and he challenged me to a fight. I wasn't going to just let him beat me up."
"Well, aside from the busted lip, you look a lot better than the photo of your friend I saw. Do you think it was more than defending yourself? You were venting, perhaps?"
Ozai shrugged, "A little."
"Tell me about it." The therapist tapped the pen to his lips.
"He was trying to punk me in front of his daughter. I didn't want that kind of humiliation. Plus, I was afraid he was going to make her stop seeing me." Ozai admitted.
Sighing as he placed his clipboard aside for a moment, "I think we should have outpatient therapy after your time is spent here."
"How long am I going to be here?" Ozai asked.
"For as long as you need."
Ozai groaned in annoyance, "I need to get out of here soon. I don't have time for this shit."
"Stay calm, Ozai. As long as you're participating in group therapy, taking your meds, and not having violent outbursts we can let you go home."
Ozai mumbled something about not taking medicine as he walked away.
"I heard that." The therapist said. "You want to be here longer?"
"Oh fuck you!" Ozai yelled as he gave the therapist the middle finger and headed back to his room.
"That's an extra day, Ozai!"
"FUCKING SHIT!" He kicked the door on the way out.
"And that's an additional day too."
"FUCK ME!" He hollered down the hall.
…
"So you want me to sit here?" Katara asked the therapist.
The therapist nodded as Ozai entered the room, confused as to why Katara was here. The therapist smiled at his patient and directed him to sit a little ways away from their guest.
"Can I hug him?" Katara asked. "He looks like he needs a hug."
The therapist nodded.
Katara got up and wrapped her arms around her boyfriend, him pressing his forehead to hers.
"You okay?"
Ozai nodded.
"Good, no throwing chairs?"
Ozai glances at his therapist, "Not yet."
"Ozai, don't." She told him as she kissed him and pulled away. "Happy thoughts."
The therapist noted the interaction as the two took their seats apart. "I see you were right about her. She seems very comforting and she's a lovely young lady."
Katara blushed as she glanced at Ozai.
"So, the reason I have Ms. Mizuki here is because I think she might be able to give me more insight on you when you're home." The therapist explained to Ozai before turning his attention to Katara. "So, Ms. Mizuki, can you tell me about how Ozai is at home? Anything that concerns you?"
Katara thought for a second and shook her head, "He's no problem at home. Honestly, he's just a really lax and calm person. He's a bit shy and aloof, needs his alone time but I guess he's just an introvert. But nothing concerning."
"I told you." Ozai murmured into his hand as he rested his arm against the armrest of the chair.
The therapist took his notes, "Does he ever get angry with you or have outbursts?"
"Spirits, no. Only time I've seen him angry was when he was fighting my dad which was kind of scary because they both looked like they were going to kill the other but aside from that- wait, I've seen him hit objects."
"He hits objects?" The therapist raised a brow.
Katara nodded, "When I had his class, I remembered him throwing papers around his office and punching the chalkboard after class. He gets annoyed when students don't come prepared or ready to learn. And one time, I saw him bang his head into the chalkboard telling someone to kill him. But that was months ago. He's been fine since."
The therapist looked at Ozai, "Are you still feeling suicidal?"
"No."
"How are you feeling?"
"Like I'm on trial."
"Come now, don't you have anything to say to what your girlfriend is saying?"
Ozai shook his head, "Nothing to say."
"Okay, moving on, any new or recent developments in your relationship?"
"We're trying for a baby." Katara said gleefully.
"A baby?" The therapist raised a brow. "You two want children together?"
"Just one." Katara said.
"I don't think that's a good idea. There's a major age gap, Ozai is going through some difficult things and acting out in spurts, not to mention, you two aren't married. It wouldn't be wise."
"But I love him."
"That's not a good enough reason, Katara. You two should consider a lot of things before you go trying for a baby. I hope to spirits you two haven't been successful."
Katara furrowed her brows, "What are you trying to say? That I wouldn't be a good mom?"
"No, that's not-"
"Ozai was right, you're a fucking cunt." Katara folded her arms.
"He told you I was a cunt?" The therapist asked.
Katara nodded, "And you are. Writing down everything we say like we're on trial or something. We don't need your permission to have a baby. You're not our parents."
"Kat-" Ozai tried to get her to calm down.
"No, fuck this guy!" Katara got upset, "What kind of quack tells someone going through a rough time that he needs medicine like that will erase the problems in his life? How about you go fuck yourself, doc, hmm? I think that sounds like a good idea."
"Kat-"
"Ms. Mizuki, how about you calm down or we'll have to refuse you from seeing Mr. Yong for the remainder of his stay.
Katara stood up and glared at the therapist, "Like hell you're going to stop me from seeing him! You asshats are just going to find a reason to keep him here longer like he's a prisoner or something! Well, I will literally lose my shit if you fucks try that shit with me!"
"Lose your shit, you say? How so?" The therapist tilted his head and Ozai palmed his face.
Admitted to the women's ward, Katara had to be sedated several times as she attacked the nurses and told them to let her out. Literally, the whole ward could hear Katara going off telling the staff to suck her dick and to eat shit and die. Eventually, she was placed in a straight jacket as she couldn't keep her hands to herself and locked in a padded room.
"You're a foul son of a bitch, you know that right?" Ozai said to his therapist.
Shrugging, "She was talking about losing her shit and has been attacking the staff. I couldn't just let her go home acting like that. I could lose my license."
"You probably should at this point." Ozai scoffed.
Seeing Katara in group therapy, Ozai sat beside her and asked her how she was. She just looked up at him with dreary eyes and shook her head.
"I don't want a baby anymore." Katara told him.
Sort of disappointed, "What? What are you talking about?"
"The therapist said with your anger issues and my impulsive decision making, it wouldn't be a good mix. Our baby would be doomed before they even stood a chance." Katara's voice dragged.
"Why are you even listening to that quack?" Ozai scoffed.
"I'm bad for you, aren't I?" Katara teared up. "We're bad for each other."
"Katara, what are you going on about?"
"I'm why your marriage fell apart because I kissed you at the bar and your wife thought you were having an affair."
"Kat-"
"I fucked up! This is my fault! Just like everything is! Like when my parents divorced!"
"Katara, you're not making any sense." Ozai was concerned with the girl as she became hysterical before the group started. "Don't listen to these assholes. It's their job to make us think something is wrong with us when we're just normal people trying to make it through day to day life. Sure, there are truly sick people out there but we're not them. We're perfectly normal."
"We are?" Katara asked.
Ozai nodded. "Just fake going along with this shit show and let's get out asap."
"Okay, daddy, whatever you say."
"Stop calling me that." Ozai groaned.
….
The pair were released on the same day and sent home with a prescription that they both threw away upon leaving the place. They immediately went to a diner and ate something that wasn't hospital food before returning back to the apartment. Katara went upstairs to lie down as she was tired and still under the effects of the medicine she had taken in the hospital. Ozai saw on his phone he had gotten a few missed messages from the school and called them back.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Mr. Yong?"
"Yes."
"Hello, this is Dean Takuwa, I wanted to let you know that the board has decided to put you on suspension after discovering you are in a relationship with a current student here at Republic City University. We ask that you report to my office Monday morning to assess whether we are going to move forward with a termination. Thank you and have a pleas-"
*Click* Ozai chucked his phone into the wall and growled loudly as he pulled his hair. DAMN IT! ONE THING AFTER A-FUCKING-NOTHER!
"Ozai? You okay?" Katara called from upstairs.
"No! I'm about to get fired!" Ozai shouted. "Somehow we were found out!"
Katara popped her head over the loft's low wall, "What? Really?"
The termination was finalized and Ozai was now unemployed. All he could do was sulk face down on the sofa after returning home from packing his things out of his office. Katara tried comforting him but she wasn't feeling the greatest and stayed in the bathroom vomiting all morning. When she finally came out and went to sit on the floor beside the coach to rub his back.
"How'd it go?"
"They fired me." Ozai mumbled into his couch cushion. "Your father reported us."
Katara gasped, "Did you tell them to transfer you?"
Ozai shook his head, "I'm over it. I just want to lay here, get my head together, and figure out what to do now."
Katara sighed, "Well, I have some news that might cheer you up."
"What?"
"I'm pregnant."
Ozai lifted his head and kneaded his brows at her, "What?"
"I'm pregnant. I wasn't feeling good this past weekend so I took a test this morning and it's positive."
"Take another one." Ozai urged her.
Katara and Ozai got up and went to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Ozai waited outside the door for the result and Katara came back out with another positive test.
"See, I'm pregnant."
Ozai put his hands over his face, "No, no, no, no!"
Confused with his reaction, Katara tilted her head. "What's wrong? We're finally going to have a baby."
"Katara, think! I just got fired! How are we going to take care of a baby?!" Ozai went off.
Furrowing her brows at his raised voice, "You'll just get another job until I finish this semester and then I can start working at the hospital."
"It's not that simple!"
"It can be."
"No it's not! I can't work as a teacher anymore! I'd have to find a job that is related to what I have my degree in!" Ozai felt immediate distress as he pulled his hair. "We can't have the baby now. Now is not a good time."
"Well, we can't just put the baby back, Ozai." Katara chuckled. "It's already inside me."
Ozai stared at her flat middle, "We could go to one of those clinics."
Katara's eyes narrowed almost instantly, "Excuse me?"
"Katara, listen, we can't keep it. I can't afford it. Not now. We'll try again another time but we have to end this one until we are-"
Katara cut him off by walking away and grabbing her bag.
"What are you doing?" he asked her as she went upstairs and came back down with a suitcase worth of stuff that she never unpacked.
"I'm leaving."
"You're what?" He didn't seem to register what she was saying.
Katara wore a flat expression as she looked at him, "I'm not ending this pregnancy and if you need time to get your life together, fine but I'm going to stay at my mom's place until you figure it out."
"Kat-"
"Also, until then, we're done." She said before slamming the door behind her.
Ozai stared in disbelief at the door. He was divorced, fired, and broken up with all in a single year. What the absolute fuck?
…..
~Six months Later~
Zuko noticed Katara wasn't wearing her usual clothes and had a small woddle to her walk as she traveled around campus in a big oversized hoodie. He heard from his father that the two of them split up but it was never said what took place. All he knew was that Katara was on the market again.
Spotting her in the library dropping off her books, Zuko strolled up to her and smirked. "What's up?"
Katara rolled her eyes, "What do you want?"
"Wanted to see if you want to go grab a bite? Or a drink?"
Scoffing with a chuckle, "No thanks. I've got more important things to do."
"Like what?"
"Like going to work."
"Work? What are you working for? Isn't all your stuff paid for through your scholarship?" Zuko asked.
"Yeah, well, the scholarship doesn't cover this." Katara pulled up her hoodie to reveal her round belly.
Zuko's eyes widened. "Wh-what the-"
"Tell your dad when you see him that he's about to miss out on his second daughter being born. So, he can either be a man and step up or I'll be completely done with him. I mean it." Katara told Zuko before strolling away.
Ozai answered his door to find Zuko barging in as if had just gotten some bad news.
"You knocked Katara up?!" Zuko spazzed.
Ozai rubbed his neck awkwardly, "Yes."
"Dad! What's your problem?! Why aren't you with her trying to help?!"
"I-"
"She's working down at the hospital as an intern. You should probably talk to her soon. She says you're about to miss out on your second daughter's birth."
Ozai sighed as he took a seat on the bar stool and held his head in his hands. "I don't even know what to say to her."
"Why did you two break up?"
Explaining it to his son, Ozai tells him that when he finally got hired as an accountant, he didn't know how to approach her since she was probably hormonal and didn't want to see him. However, he worried about not being involved in his child's life. Honestly, he was worried about Katara but he didn't have the guts to confront her. He was a spirits damn coward.
Seeing his father was struggling to figure out what to do, Zuko sighed and gave him advice. "Look, buy a gift for her and the baby and see if she will soften up then apologize. Gifts always soften women up. It's what I do all the time."
Ozai looked at his son with distaste for his relationship practices. "Okay, I'll get her something nice."
Katara was finishing up her shift when she headed to the little blue sudan she bought with her own money. She needed to drive to her mom's place which was across town since she gave up her dorm to stay with Ozai before she left. As she turned her key in the ignition, she jumped at the knock she saw on her window and was shocked to see it was Ozai. She rolled the window down and looked up at him.
"What?"
"Can we talk?"
Katara stared at him hard and saw how pathetic he looked and sighed. If he wasn't such a sad person in general, she'd tell him to go get lost but she wasn't cruel.
"Fine, Ozai. Meet me at the diner down the street." Katara told him.
At the diner, the two sat in a secluded booth across from each other and Katara ordered fried pork dumplings and a coke.
"So…you wanted to talk?"
"Yes, I wanted to know how you and the baby were doing. I bought things for the baby and you."
Katara studied him hard and saw the awkward way he was smiling and sighed to herself. "Ozai, you're so damn weird its hard to be mean to you but I need make myself clear when I saw fuck you." Her gaze hardened. "It's been six months and you haven't as much as tried to reach out and see how I was doing. Or if the pregnancy was going smoothly. You didn't care. Just did whatever it was you were doing."
"I was looking for another job, Katara."
"Well, did you find one?"
"Yes, I'm an accountant at a law firm. I've been there for three months."
"And you didn't think to message me three months ago? Are you seeing someone else?"
"No!" Ozai said as if it were ridiculous. "What woman is going to want to get mixed up with me? She'd have to be cr- Oh, sorry."
Sticking her tongue in her jaw as she eyed him flatly, "How about this, Ozai, you just show up for the birth and I'll think about whatever you're trying to do here."
"But what about the gifts I got?" he stood up as she got up to leave, telling the waitress to make her food to go.
Katara rolled her eyes at him, "I already have what I need."
Taking her food, Katara walked out of the diner and left Ozai to sulk at the table.
For the next few weeks, Katara was getting blown up with text messages and voicemails from Ozai. She ignored them, debating changing her number as she was getting annoyed by him. He wanted her to come over or tell him when the next doctor's appointment was. He showed up at the school one day looking for her and exposed their previous relationship by accident to her peers as he wouldn't stop pestering her to come over. She almost slapped him as her peers laughed at her for getting involved with the former Philosophy teacher that everyone hated. Katara didn't care that they thought she was nuts for dating him before but she didn't like that they all now knew she was pregnant by him. There goes hiding her belly.
Katara wanted to bash her brains out on the steering wheel as she drove home and noticed Ozai in the car behind her. Why was he stalking her? Was it really that big a deal that she came over?
Pulling over before he could see where she was staying, Katara got out of her car and slammed the door, glaring at him.
"I'm about to call the police on you!" Katara yelled at him.
"Katara, please, I'm just trying to make things right. I know I fucked up but I'm trying to make it better before the baby is born."
"Fine! I'll follow you to your apartment!"
"Actually, I moved." Ozai rubbed his neck as he awkwardly grinned.
"Damn you! Just- Just- Fuck! I'll follow you, just show the fucking way!"
Pulling up to the house that Ozai moved into, Katara parked her car and got out. He showed her in and she had a look around as he showed her it was a three bedroom with a sunroom. He told her it would be nice if she moved back in with him as he got the place thinking about her and the baby. It's why it was a three bedroom, she could have her own room without having to involve herself with him outside of coparenting. He showed her the nursery and how he had it painted pink since he found out she was having a girl.
"And I bought a ton of stuffed animals for her crib." Ozai told her as she had a look around the well decorated nursery.
"You did all this for us?"
"Yeah, but you don't have to be with me like before if you don't want to. You have your own bedroom so-"
"Ozai," Katara stopped him right there. "What's wrong with you?"
"Huh?" he raised a brow.
"Why can't you just tell me to be your girlfriend again? Why do just roll over like you can't ask for what you really want?" Katara looked at him in pity. "You're a man. So be a man and ask me."
Ozai rubbed his neck awkwardly like he always did when in a conflicting situation, "Can I ask you something else?"
Katara sighed, "Fine, what is it?"
Getting down on one knee, Ozai pulled a small box out of his back pocket and presented it to her. "Will you please marry me?"
"Please?" Katara said with her brow raised. "Ask differently."
"Will you marry me?"
Katara tilted her head, "I don't think I like how you're asking. Try another way."
Ozai's brow twitched, "Marry me?"
"Hmmm." She stroked her chin. "I'm still not feeling it."
Ozai got fed up and put the ring on her finger already, "I already know the answer so, stop playing your games cause you're marrying me, period."
"Oh! I like that!" Katara said as she looked at her ring. "That's how you ask a woman to marry you."
"For crying out loud, woman! You're insufferable."
"Hey, you're the one that wants to marry me. Guess, I need to tell my mom I'm moving out again."
….
Kya sat at the table staring at the man that knocked up her daughter. She tried not to point out the obvious but she couldn't help but comment on his age and how he used to be her professor. What mom was simply okay with that sort of thing? Sighing to herself as her daughter explained everything to her and even mentioned how the man was a friend of her father's back in the day.
"But he and dad aren't talking anymore because of you know…this situation." Katara told her mother.
Kya nodded her head and shifted her gaze to her future son in law, "My daughter has only just turned twenty-two last month and you're how old?"
"Forty-nine."
"You're my ex's age. Literally her father's age. I don't agree with this relationship. It's not fit for a young girl like her to be with someone so…"
"Experienced?" Katara smiled at her mother.
"Old." She looked dreadfully at Ozai.
"Please, mom, we're about to have the baby and it would be best if you of all people accepted us." Katara took her mother's hands in hers. "Ozai's already got a house and everything ready for the baby. Plus, we planned the wedding to be a few months after the baby is born."
Sighing, "I'm not saying I don't accept this but I'm just worried about my daughter being tied to an older man. What if something happens to you? What will happen to her and the baby?"
"I have life insurance." Ozai told her.
Kya hated how he answered that so quickly. "Ugh! See, he's even responsible like an old man!"
"So you rather me be with someone younger and dumber?" Katara raised a brow.
"No! I just want you to enjoy your youth. Katara, me and your father were both young when we got married and you saw how that ended for us. Not to mention, didn't he literally just get a divorce? Why are you trying to get remarried so quickly?" Kya narrowed her eyes at the man in question.
"She's pregnant. I think it's ideal that we be married."
"See!"
Kya groaned, "Fine. Whatever. You're both adults here. I just want to pick out the wedding dress."
Katara gleefully beamed at her mother as she jumped from her seat, "I want a big wedding."
Ozai wanted to know who exactly was going to be paying for the 'big' wedding.
After leaving her mother's home, Katara planned to get ready for her graveyard shift at the hospital, showering and changing into her scrubs. As she was doing her hair up in a bun for work, she saw Ozai eyeing her funny with his arms folded.
"What?" She said with the bobby-pin in her mouth.
"I don't like you working with how far along you are."
Rolling her eyes at him, "It's the graveyard shift and they don't make me do anything crazy difficult. Plus, it's what I'm in school for so it helps getting experience in."
"I can take care of us."
"And lose your job again and tell me to abort the baby after it's already here again…no thank you. I'm working too as a backup and because I like having my own money."
"You'd make a good housewife." Ozai smirked at her.
"And be like your ex-wife? No, thank you." Katara told him as she put the last bobby-pin in her hair. "I don't want to waste my hard work in school just to give up my dreams to be a housewife."
Sighing as he kicked his shoes off and settled onto the bed, the only thing he had a problem with her working was the time they'd miss out on together. But he'd get used to her schedule. Plus, she'd be home soon on maternity leave. So there was no reason for him to dread her going to work.
Kissing him on the cheek before leaving out, Katara told him he loved her and she went on to work.
….
A few weeks later and their baby was coming early, causing Katara's water to break all over Ozai's feet. Katara panicked the whole car ride to the hospital, crying out in pain as she felt the baby was about to tear her wide open. She grabbed Ozai's arm as he was driving and screamed at him for knocking her up. She never regretted something so much in her life. This pain was like no other.
Reaching the hospital, Katara told Ozai to call her mom as he tried to keep up with the doctors rushing her to the delivery room. Getting there, Ozai let her know her mother was on the way.
Smacking the phone from his hand, "Why did you listen to me?! This was a terrible idea! I hate you!"
Ozai knew it was the overwhelming pain and hormones talking. "Just breathe, Katara."
"Fuck breathing! I need a drink! I need to smash something! Give me your head, I'm gonna throw it into that wall!" Katara screamed. "Tell them to hurry up with my medicine!"
The nurse told her to be patient and Katara screamed at her. Ozai tried getting her to calm down but she grabbed his hand and squeezed so hard he shouted as she cracked the bones in it.
"Fuck! Katara!" He knelt at the bedside trying not to scream at her trying to break his hand.
"You did this to me!" Katara cried. "I was young and beautiful and you knocked me up! Now, I'm being torn apart!"
Ozai tried to tell her to let go of his hand but she squeezed harder.
"I should have never had sex with you!"
"Katara, my hand!"
"I don't give a fuck! If I have to suffer, so do you!"
Katara continued this until they gave her the epidural and she calmed down immediately, finally letting go of Ozai's crushed hand. He recieved medical treatment for it as it had go limp and he could barely feel it. Once it was wrapped up, Ozai sat in the chair beside Katara's hospital bad as they waited for her to be able to push the baby out. She apologize to him in a lethargic voice as she held his injured hand gently as it rested on her belly.
"Tell me you love me, Ozai." Katara said as she started dozing off.
"I love you, Katara." He said running his hand over her hair.
When it came time to push, Katara held Ozai's hand tight but not as tight as before. She was so excited to meet their daughter. The nurses told her to keep pushing as they saw the head crowding. Eventually, Katara delivered the baby and their daughter was handed to her after being wiped down gently. The tears that formed in her eyes as she looked at her beautiful baby girl was all too much for her and Ozai couldn't believe how beautiful their baby girl was. She had a full head of black hair, brown skin, and gold eyes like his. His heart swelled as he was given the child and held her to his chest.
"What will we name her?" Katara asked Ozai as she was falling asleep.
"Yukino." Ozai said as he continued to hold his infant daughter.
Katara smiled, "I like Yukino."
As they were able to return home, Katara had a difficult time adjusting to her new life as a mom and breastfeeding. She tired easily and her mood was low. A lot of times, Ozai would find her crying and barely eating like she needed. It was hard on her and he could see that. So he had Katara pump her breast milk so that he could help with feedings and took Yukino to the grocery store with him, carrying her in a baby harness on his chest as he decided to pick up a few items to cheer up his fiance.
"Ozai?"
The new daddy turned around and revealed the baby strapped to his chest, "Ursa." He said in a low and slightly uncaring tone.
Ursa looked wide eyed at the baby strapped to her ex-husband chest and looked to him, "That's your new baby girl? She's so cute."
Ozai glanced down at Yukino, who was sucking her thumb and nodded.
"How's that former student of yours doing?" Ursa smirked.
Clenching his teeth, "None of your business."
Glancing at the items in his cart, "You're getting her a bunch of junk food? What? Postpatum that bad, huh?" Ursa raised a brow and looked around the shelves of the aisle they were on. "You need to cook her something good, Ozai, and get a few bottles of wine and formula for the baby so she can have a drink. Her nerves are probably bad since she's first time mom and you need to make sure you're doing your part and not leaving her to do it all because she will try as that's something us women have a problem doing."
Ozai scoffed, "You talk like you know. You were fine after Zuko and Azula."
"No, I wasn't. You just never cared to check on me." Ursa told him. "You think I'm the bad guy for divorcing you but I can already see from how you are with her, that I was just a trophy to you. The pretty cheerleader that gave the nerd a chance. Your pretty little accomplishment. But now we're both happy, aren't we? I'm free and you're about to marry someone you truly love. Am I really so bad, Ozai?"
Eyeing her up and down, "No but I don't trust you."
"Says the bad that cheated."
"I never-"
"I know. Your cute wife-to-be told me the truth about that night. But if you want to keep her, don't make the same mistakes. Cook her something good, wine, and help with the baby."
Ozai nodded.
Getting back home, Ozai found Katara lounging in the living room watching a talk show and eating the chips. He walked over to her and kissed her head before going to the kitchen. When he came back, he gave Katara a plate of a chicken recipe Ursa gave him and a glass of wine. She looked from it to him.
"I can't drink. I'm breastfeeding."
"I bought formula so you can." Ozai told her.
Katara teared up and thanked him.
Eventually, Katara got better and they were able to start planing the wedding. Ozai talked Katara down to a simple ceremony but she insisted that she spend big bucks on her wedding dress. Ozai had planned to pay for it but Hakoda butted in and took care of the expenses, chastizing him about having a simple wedding. Hakoda wanted only the best for his daughter and his former friend could eat a dick if he thought a simple wedding was acceptable. This might be Ozai's second wedding but it was his daughter's first and Hakoda wasn't going for a simple wedding.
With her father paying, the wedding turned out exactly as Katara planned and she looked absolutely gorgoues in her ball gown wedding dress. He entire family, school friends, and coworkers were present. Her mother cried happy tears as her father whispered a threat to Ozai after walking her down the aisle. As they said their vows and exchanged rings, sharing their first kiss as a newly wedded couple, everyone cheered and threw rice at them.
At the reception, Sokka gave a speech about his sister being a head turner and how he hoped her new husband could deal with other men, younger men pining for her. Katara shooed him off the stage as he had said enough but then, Zuko said a few words about how technically his father stole his girlfriend from him and how she was technically supposed to be his wife. Katara and Ozai shooed him off as the crowd booed at him. Finally, her drunk friend Suki and Ozai's ex-wife, who was invited, spoke and they had very interesting things to say.
"Katara, you're my best friend and future sister-in-law and I wish you the best sex of your life tonight! I know after the baby you said the two of your just aren't fucking like before but I hope tonight that will all change! Have an incredible sex life you two! Don't stop fucking!"
Katara hurried to rush her friend away as her father was heating up in the corner ready to attack her groom.
"Ozai, you were probably the biggest mistake of my young life and I hope to the spirits, you're not her mistake cause if so, you might want to consider ending it all." Ursa said into the mic.
"And you're a miserable bitch, Ursa." Ozai bit out from across the room.
"But anyways, I hope you two are happy with each other and never forget to enjopy each other's company."
When it was time for the last dance of the night by the newly weds, Katara held onto Ozai and rested her head against his chest.
"My mom got us a trip to Fire Nation for our honeymoon." Katara told him.
"She told me."
"Is it nice there?"
Ozai shrugged, "Haven't been there in years."
After the newly wed danced, Katara received a hug from both her parents and was handed her daughter while her father lectured her husband. She chuckled as Ozai rolled his eyes several times over as her father gave him the business about how to treat her. Taking their seats as everyone went on to party in their stead, Ozai bounced Yukino on his leg and smiled at his young wife.
"Your mother is babysitting tonight, right?"
Katara smirked at him and nodded, "Yup. Why do you ask?"
Grinning back, "I think you know why."
Katara couldn't wait. Between having a little one, work, and having this exhausting wedding to plan, they hadn't had anytime for themselves.
"I can't wait!"
"I say sneak out the back." Ozai whispered in her ear.
Katara nodded and followed his lead as they handed the baby back to her mother. He grabbed her hand and hurried them out the back. They quickly got in the car and drove off.
Back home, the two quickly took off their clothes and jumped into bed. Seconds later, they were both snoring while sprawled out in the bed. This would be a night they finally got to sleep in in months of being new parents. Finally.
"Here's to a life time of sneaking away for sleep." Katara murmured in her sleep.
Ozai scored, rolling on his side to cuddle her to him as she drifted back to sleep.
The end.
