Aftermath of the Dark War Chapter 29: Dreams of Pleasure, Pain, and A Morning Surprise by Jurassicfatt

Allie's Pov

*Dream sequence*

Darkness. Voices whisper all around.

"Foolish… Pestering us will not stop them…"

"The Assassin, only…"

Rosemary's face comes into view, giving me a small smile.

Suddenly, a light shines onto my face.

Opening my eyes, I take a look around me. I'm lying down on the bed inside of our tent, the dark gray sheets just above my hips and stomach. I hear someone shuffling around nearby. Sitting up, I see Rosemary on the other side of the room, looking inside of a bag. She's wearing a black t-shirt, jeans, and boots. Her jeans hug her waist tightly, making her curves even more noticeable. I can't tear my eyes away from her ass. She's having a bit of an issue getting whatever item she needs out. She notices my stare and turns around, letting go of the bag in the process.

Rosemary stands up, her smile wide, as she slowly saunters her way towards the bed. Her hair is falling in curls down her shoulders. I feel my breath catch in my throat as I notice the way her eyes move over my body, like she's sizing me up. "He-ey, good morning Rosemary. A-Are you alright?" I ask, stuttering like an idiot. She nods.

"More than alright, Bunny. Did you sleep well?" she asks, continuing to look at me with that mischievous grin. I nod my head silently. She locks eyes with me, then tilts her head to the side. "You seem a bit starstruck, Bunny. Any particular reason why?" she asks, taking a fingertip between her teeth and playfully biting it.

"I, uh, I think I'm just tired."

"Tired, or distracted?" Rosemary finally reaches the foot of the bed. She gets on, her body weight causing it to shift. She slowly and seductively crawls up to me, her movement graceful yet calculating. Like a lion stalking her prey. Swallowing a lump in my throat, I continue to look at her. She stops, her face inches from mine and her familiar honey smell overwhelming my senses.

"What are you-" I start to say, before she puts a finger to my lips.

"*Shush*, It's okay." she says, her voice low and husky. She removes her finger. "You know, I noticed you staring at me these past few days."

"W-What? No, I-"

"It's alright, Bunny. You don't have to hide from me. I'm flattered. In fact, if I'm being honest," Rosemary looks down for a second, before re-establishing eye contact, her eyes sparkling from the light of the candles. "I've been sneaking a few peeks at you, too. I hope that doesn't displease you?" She gives me a serious look. Her lips look full and ripe for the taking. I shake my head quickly. She smiles again, before brushing a loose strand of hair behind my left ear, and running a hand over my cheek. The skin there heating up to her touch. "How about we do something fun?"

Before I have a chance to answer, she breaks the distance and connects our lips. She kisses me lightly at first, barely brushing her lips against mine, as if she's waiting for permission to go further. I quickly melt into the kiss, deepening it as my eyes flutter closed and my right hand grabs onto her shoulder. We continue this for a few... Seconds. Minutes. I don't care to know, so long as she doesn't stop. I should pull away, but my body just won't let me. When she sucks my bottom lip into her mouth, I moan breathlessly. Rosemary pulls away, her eyes dark and her breathing heavy. She gives me that signature grin again. I feel myself move forward and kiss her with all I have, wrapping my arms around her neck and pulling her closer. Rosemary kisses back, this time more roughly. One of her hands comes behind my head and snakes its way into my hair, pulling it lightly. The other holds my chin, then slowly descends to run over my neck and pulse point. Her tongue begs for entrance and I immediately give access, our tongues meeting and the two of us moaning as they touch. Without warning, she swiftly pushes me down. My breath is ragged and I stare up into her misty blue eyes. "'We' can't wait to get you out of those clothes." she says, her amulet shinning purple again. She bends down to kiss me and I close my eyes, relishing to feel her lips on mine again.

But nothing happens, and I begin to feel a soft, cold surface beneath me. Opening my eyes, my surroundings have changed again. I'm in a forest, my back against a snowy cushion on the ground. I push myself up and shake the cold melting snow off, before a howling wind blows around me, chilling my bones. Oh, not again. My ears burn in the cold and I wrap my arms around myself to warm up. Knowing how this will go, I walk around, waiting for the face-painted lady with the sword to arrive and chase me. But instead, I hear a voice.

"Over here." it calls. Turning around, I see a large red church in the distance, with brown doors, and an upside-down star-circle symbol at the top. The wind becomes more intense, so I make my way over to it. The voice continues to call to me, getting louder and clearer as I approach the structure. When I'm inches from the church's twin double doors, they open up, the large creak of the rusting hinges catching my attention. I walk inside, and the doors slam closed behind me in a loud wham! Holding my heart from the noise, I take a look around. The inside is similar to any another church I've been to: an alter at the front with a few steps, stained glass windows of various colors, kneeling benches and candles everywhere. The voice begins to speak again.

"So, you are the rightful owner, huh?" the voice asks. It sounds like a man.

"What? Who are you?"

"My apologies. We met before. Briefly, yesterday, when my associate 'Cherry' contacted you-"

"That was you? You're the one who let Cherry come in and hurt me?"

"That was never my plan." the voice tells me. "Cherry was stupid to have done that, and I am truly sorry she did so. I merely wanted to speak with you."

"About what?"

"About your role here, in the Undead Realm. You are the rightful owner of the Jewel. It chose you. It belongs to you. No one else. Not even the Great sorcerer Certrius can conjure without your approval. But you are new here and need a helping hand. Contrary to everything Cherry did, she was right when she said that I want to help you. You need someone who can teach you how to-"

"Don't bother. I'm not interested in what you're selling." I tell him.

"Oh? Is that so? Well, maybe I should show you what Certrius plans to do, then. Maybe that'll put things into perspective." the voice responds, before the roof of the church is ripped open above me. A large fanged two-headed monster comes into view, its loud roar shaking the windows. In seconds, I hear a whizzing sound before a fiery explosion knocks the giant towards the ground. The nearby wall comes tumbling down from the weight of the giant, causing glass to shatter and debris to fly everywhere. I cover my head and duck behind one of the benches. A few moments later, I begin to hear screaming and screeching tires outside. I slowly get up and walk over the now broken wall. I see people running for their lives as giant monsters chase after them. Some people are stepped on, the crunch of their bones echoing out. Others are grabbed and thrown against buildings or chomped on by the creatures. One of them looks like Jed. Another like the Beasts from Pevonia. It's then that I realize these aren't just monsters; they are Warlord Demons. A school bus speeds past me. It tries to take a sharp turn, but the tires lose their grip and the yellow mass topples over. Bang! A large hydra-like Warlord shoots flames as some of the children cry in terror inside. An army tank comes into view, the ground shaking as its treads rip through the asphalt. It fires at the beast, the shell blowing up one of its heads. Another warlord, this one resembling a flaming werewolf, picks up the tank and tears it to shreds with its claws. A city burns in the background, the skyscrapers smoking, and large titanic creatures roaming around, as helicopters fly overhead. This place. It's not possible… This is-

"Earth, yes. This is what will happen if you don't take the Jewel for yourself. If you don't come with me. Everyone and everything you know will die. It's guaranteed. Come to me. I promise, I can prevent this from happening. But I need your help and I need you to trust in me."

"No, you're lying!" I shout towards the voice. "This isn't real. And neither are you!" I then hear a jet engine roar past me and see a small dot land in the distance. A large shockwave rocks the surface, making my legs buckle. I see a large orange explosion, bright like a miniature sun, take over the horizon. A torrent of dust and fire races towards me, turning everything to ash as it finally comes near.

I wake up, grabbing at my heart and panting like crazy. I hear someone run up to me and grab my shoulder. Flinching, I turn and see Rosemary standing there.

"Bunny, are you alright?" she asks, her eyes going over every inch of my face and body. She quickly but delicately checks my body for marks of any kind, her mesmerizing blue eyes roaming all over me. I blush uncontrollably, before nodding and grabbing her hands.

"Yeah. I-I'm fine. At least, I think I am."

"Another bad dream?" she asks. Not all of it was bad. A teasing voice reminds me. I push the thought away immediately and look at her, simply nodding. "Tell me."

I proceed to go step by step over my nightmare, from where I was lying on the ground.

"That's horrible." she states.

"I know. And I still have no idea who it is."

"We'll need to let Cal know. We promised him we'd tell him if anything happened." It was then that I noticed a large silver tray, covered with a dome, on the table nearby.

"What's that?" I ask, pointing to it. She eyes the tray, before looking back to me.

"Oh that? I woke up a bit earlier today. Didn't really get that much sleep. I stepped out, just to get some air. I wasn't far from the tent, in case anything happened. Saw a vendor setting up a food cart. Seeing as yesterday's 'meal'," she says with air quotes, "didn't turn out so well, I ordered some food from him." She goes over and picks up the tray, bringing it to me.

"What's in it?"

"It's a surprise." she tells me, smiling that signature grin, just like in my dream. I feel my pulse quicken as images from my dream flash into my mind, namely Rosemary kissing me deeply. Closing my eyes and pushing away the thoughts, I begin to wonder what kind of food the vendors might have sold her. Taking the cover off, I blink in shock as my nose detects a familiar scent. No way! On the tray are four items: some sort of pink celery sticks, cut into small pieces; a slice of wholegrain toast; a bowl of oatmeal; and a large white-green cup filled to the brim with the drink I've been craving. I look into her eyes and she simply shrugs.

"Did, did you get me coffee?" I ask. Where the hell did she find this?

"Yeah. I remember you saying how badly you wanted it after the incident, so I asked if he had any Earth drinks. He had a whole machine for this 'kaw-fee', believe it or not! I wasn't sure what it was or how to make it, so I let him take care of it. It costed extra, but I didn't care. I know it won't make up for everything that's been happening, but I hope you like it." she tells me.

I can't believe it. That was so sweet of her. She went out of her way to find me coffee, just so I'd feel better. A smile comes to my lips as I turn to look at her.

"Thank you so much." I say, but she waves me off.

"You don't have to do that. It was nothing."

"No, I do. You have no idea how much this means to me." This craving has been ridiculously frustrating. So much so I was afraid I'd start tearing my own hair out over it. The sweet smell of the coffee beckons me, so I decide to take a sip… And almost regret it. The coffee is warm and definitely has the right color, but it is mostly flavorless. I can also feel some unfiltered granules swirling around in my mouth and sticking to my tongue. Not the worst cup I've had, but certainly not coffee like you think. Swallowing quickly, Rosemary's gaze still on me, she asks: "So, how is it?"

"It's okay." I state. As much as it tastes awful, she did go out her way to get it for me. But, at the same time, lying got me into too many messes already. I don't have the heart to tell her it's bad, but I can't keep lying to her. "Next time, maybe I'll come with? See what kind of machine he has." And maybe show him how to use it, I think to myself.

"Sure." she says, sitting down next to me. We eat, continuing to talk about the day. It looks like she'll be busy, given it's the first official day and all. She's going to bring me to Cal, find out if the dream had any after effects. Then, she'll be on guard around the arena. I'll only see her at supper. She'll do one more survey of the grounds and then head to Cal's tent to speak with the voice of the amulet. "I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone for so long, especially somewhere we don't know too much about."

"It's okay, Rosemary. I'll be alright."

"I hope you don't mind, but my cousin Rebel says she wants to hang out with you. If you're interested, there's a spot in the arena just for the makeup department. You can sit with them if you want."

"Really? That's cool. I don't want to be a burden on your cousin, in case she or her friends are unsure about me. I mean, what if I talk too much or embarrass her in front of her coworkers?" That happened a lot when I met Braxton's family or when we had formal company picnics to go to.

"Are you kidding? She won't mind. She'll love you; I just know it. Just be your cute, lively self and you'll be fine." she tells me. She pauses, realizing what she just said, before blushing and looking away. I blush too, my face going a deep pink. "*Ahem* That is, i-if you want to spend time with her? I can always tell her no if you don't."

"No, no. I'd be happy to spend time with Rebel. How are your injuries doing?" I ask, changing the subject. I noticed she's been moving a bit slower since the Western assignment, especially her battle with Jed.

"They're okay. Yeah, I'm alright."

"You sure? I think you should go see one of the healers. You know, just in case."

"I don't think that's necessary." I hear the apprehension in her voice. She really must not like hospitals.

"What about Cal? You think he could heal you? He seems pretty nice and you two know each other. Plus, you're heading down there tonight anyways, right? So, you might as well have him check you out."

"Hey, not a bad idea, Bunny. I'll let him know. Thanks." She smiles a toothy grin, and I can't help but smile back at her. The tent's entrance goes red and the small whizzing sound returns, before a voice is heard coming from the other side.

"Hey, Cuz? It's me, Rebel. Ya'll not getting frisky now, are you?" I hear her muffle from outside. I nearly do a spit take and we both blush again. Rosemary turns off the seal and opens the drape. Rebel walks in, wearing a plain blue t-shirt and shorts with her black pumps, all complimenting her curly blue hair.

"Wow, you look really pretty Rebel." I say honestly.

"Why thank you, Allie." she states.

"Hey, Cuz." Rosemary says. Rebel punches her in the arm.

"So, you ready to head out, Allie?" she asks.

"Are you sure you're not too busy? I don't want to be a burden." I ask.

"Don't worry about it. Always willing to spend some time making new friends. If anyone comes near us, I'll deck 'im in the throat." Rebel states simply. I can't help but laugh.

"Hey, I'm not completely helpless. Rosemary taught me a few things."

"Really, now? I guess she forgot to mention it." She looks at Rosemary with a raised brow, before turning back to me. "Guess we'll be fine. I have to be honest; this also gives me an excuse to do some makeup work on ya, Allie. Hope you don't mind?" she asks. I give her a smile.

"No, I don't mind." I answer.

"Alright, then you're already braver than C here. Damn girl ran out of my room first time I tried." Rosemary glares at her.

"Hey! I was five then!" Rosemary argues.

"So, what? It's not like I was burning you or something." Rebel responds innocently. She turns to me. "When we were younger, Rosemary here agreed to be my test case. Didn't know she'd run out on me like a dog with a cookie. Knocked all my makeup kits onto the floor. Damn girl ran a marathon."

"How far did she go?" I ask.

"Rebel, please-"

"She ran all the way uptown, screaming that I made her look like an assassin! 'I'M HERE TO PROTECT YOU', she'd yell. Then, one time, she tried to cut down a tree that resembled a Warlord's face she once saw in a book. You can imagine my Ma trying to explain axe cuts around town to the chieftain." I can't help but laugh at the story, Rosemary looking away and covering her face. I push the tray aside, stand up, and put my arms around her, hugging her comfortingly.

"I like the idea of you running up and down the streets screaming 'I'm here to protect you'. It's really cute."

"Ugh!" she whines, burying her face further.

"Well, now that I've thorough embarrassed you, C, you ready Allie?"

"Hold on. I need to get dressed and see Cal this morning. Then, we can hang out."

"Alright. I'll be outside if you need me. And you might want to wear something light. It's going to be a hot one today." she says, before walking out.
