Ok. Maybe I got something now. I know that this is going to be out of the blue, and it's going to enrage all of the Brettsey fans who think that they've won; but, at the end of the day, there's always going to be some Dawsey fans who wished that this is how the show would've continued: with Matt and Gabby risking it all to start a family. Maybe even send them to Puerto Rico together. And if you're one of those fans who wanted that, then this is the story you're going to want to read. So, I thank you for doing just that.
Chapter 2
The Bahamas – They just had to run into some bad weather on the way here. Of course, they did. They had to be delayed by a couple of hours, when Matt was already worried about his wife enough as it is. Whether she was okay. Whether their child was okay. Whether they would be okay. The last one being crucial, as the last thing he wanted as to be in a bad place as they resumed their life with each other. And while he would've (originally) preferred for that to have happened in Chicago, he didn't care anymore as he was going to have what he wanted. Her, back in his arms; where she's (hopefully) safe and with him for the rest of their lives. Though, even that was up in the air now, due to the fact that she was pregnant with their child. And that was probably the thing that scared him the most: whether Gabby would be okay, due to the fact that she was pregnant with their child. And based on the way he was playing with his wedding band as he sat on the passenger seat of his car, Antonio just knew in his heart that it was precisely what Matt was in the midst of thinking about as he sat there in silence. "You worried as to whether your marriage will be okay?" Taking a breath, Matt turned his head to look at his brother-in-law. "How could you tell?" Antonio sighed. "You haven't said a word since we left the airport."
Matt nodded, as that was the truth; then again, he wasn't exactly the person he wanted to get into a fight with. "Not that I want to go there, but I am worried for my wife." Antonio agreed, as he was worried for her too; but, he could see that was especially the case for his brother-in-law. "Let me guess, it's related to everything you guys went through before she went to Puerto Rico?" Matt nodded, as that was precisely the reason he was worried. "I mean, you heard what I said to you on the flight here. How things got really tense in those last few weeks, what the doctor said to us, what I said to her." Antonio agreed with Matt, well aware of just what he said to Gabby. "I know what you said to Gabby the last time you saw her, and it really does sting." Matt agreed with Antonio, well aware that it stings. "Antonio, you have no idea how much I regret what I said. I keep trying to think of what I could've done differently. How I could've said it correctly, which maybe could've led to Gabby staying in Chicago so that we could figure this out together." Antonio agreed, as he just had this feeling that he would've much rather have his wife with him in Chicago right now.
Then again, maybe this was what they needed. "Matt, I wish the same. I wish you guys were already together and taking this on as a couple, and I wish that you guys didn't need to worry about a stupid aneurysm. Yes, it sucks; but, this is where you need to man up." Matt just looked at Antonio when he said that. "What?" Antonio then went on. "Matt, I get that you're scared and how you feel about this. How you feel like you're going to kill my sister if this goes wrong." Matt nodded, as that was precisely how he felt. "I mean, how else am I supposed to feel in this situation? Am I supposed to be completely happy about this? Not that I want to use this reference, but there's literally a ticking time bomb in my wife's body that could kill her and our child. And I was the one that created it." Antonio sighed, as he could just hear the cocktail of emotions Matt was dealing with at the moment: worry, grief, pain, angst, frustration, anger at himself, anger at the world. But, him lashing out the way he is at the moment isn't going to help anybody. "Matt, you lashing out like this isn't going to help anybody. If anything, it'll just make things worse for yourself." Matt sighed, as he understood that was true.
He understood that him yelling out in frustration was just making things worse, as the last thing he needed to be dealing with at the moment was more angst. "I'm just mad at the world. I mean, Gabby is a great woman; and I'm not just saying that as her husband. She's a great medic, an amazing wife, a great friend, and someone who really wants to help people. And I don't want to speak for you, but I think we can both agree that she's a great daughter, sister, and aunt to your kids." Antonio snickered, as that most certainly is something Matt can say about his wife. "Hey, go ahead and say that. After all, it's the truth. I hope you know that Gabby truly has helped me over the past couple months with my addiction issues." Matt then realized that: he wanted to ask him about that on the flight here. "God, I wanted to talk to you about that on the way here before I got too busy with my own life. I truly mean that Antonio. How are you, and how are things when it comes to that? Gabby filled me in once on the phone, and I just felt horrible that you didn't feel like you could come to either of us to help you out." Antonio sighed, as he knew that he should've done that.
Then again, they weren't in the best place. "You weren't in the best place as a couple, Matt; so, I didn't think that it was fair for me to drop more on you than you were already dealing with. I mean, you haven't even seen your wife in almost 5 months, with the exception of your video chat at the firehouse." Matt agreed, as that was the first time in months that he's seen Gabby. "Then again, I think we both know why I haven't seen her; and that's my fault, because of the stupid thing I said. You know…that she can't have a baby." Antonio nodded. "I hate to say this again man, but those weren't the words to use." Matt nodded and agreed, as he knew that was the truth. "Though, I did mean it in another way. I meant that I can't get her pregnant, as I don't want to kill my wife Antonio. And I hope you remember what you promised me in Chicago, that you wouldn't be mad at me if this goes wrong. I mean, that's my worst fear. And I need you to promise me that you deal with your dad if something goes wrong, not that I want it to…after all, that's the last thing I want. But, if it does happen…" Antonio then finished his thought. "You want to be able to grieve without my dad being a pest."
Matt agreed, prior to deciding to air some of his grievances. "Speaking of which, where were you last spring? Not earlier this year, but the spring before. In 2017. I mean, we were newlyweds, and we were required to take your dad in when he was down on his luck? I mean, he literally caused us so much grief. We took him in only 3 months into our marriage, and he literally told me how to be Gabby's husband. He was not a help at all." Antonio agreed, as he knew all about that. "Believe me, Gabby already talked to me about that. She does it sometimes when she needs a distraction." Matt agreed with Antonio. "And speaking of which, I hope you know that I may have to distract her in other ways." Antonio laughed, as he knew what Matt was talking about. "Oh, don't worry; we don't exactly live in the same house. We have a duplex. I live in one half of the duplex; she lives in the other half of the duplex." Matt then let out a sigh of relief, as he was glad that was the case. "Oh, thank god, I was worried that you actually lived with us in the same house." Antonio snickered, as he had a feeling that Matt was worried about that. "Don't worry, you can have sex with your wife if you want her."
Matt sighed. "We'll see, I'm exhausted." Antonio looked at Matt when he said that. "You're exhausted? You spent the past couple hours on a flight." Matt nodded. "And for a few hours before that, I was on shift…which required me to get up at 6:30 in the morning since I've started working out in the morning to just get me in shape some more. It was a good distraction and helped me just find a way to distract myself from the fact that Gabby wasn't home." Antonio agreed with Matt, clearly able to see just how much he missed Gabby. "You really missed her, haven't you?" Matt nodded. "And I've been worried sick. I mean, she has an aneurysm Antonio. That was something I was always worried about. Hell, there were times I wondered whether I didn't hear from her because she was dead." And that was when Antonio felt part of his heart break, as he didn't even think about that; how Matt might feel about not knowing how his wife was all this time. "And for that, I'm sorry Matt. I should've kept in touch to try and let you know what was going on with her." Matt nodded, as he really wish he would have. "Maybe then I would've been here sooner than now." Antonio agreed.
After all, he bets that he wishes that would've happened. "I promise, we're going to figure this out together; you're not going to be alone as you deal with this Matt, as I want to help you guys. This is going to be a hard time for you guys, and the last thing I want is to watch your marriage fall apart like mine did. You guys are good for each other, and I've seen that for years. Hell, I thought that you guys were dating when you were still with Hallie." Matt snickered. "The truth is, I've come to realize that being with Hallie was a mistake. Me and her were never going to work, as she never wanted to have a family; she never wanted kids, and I wanted them…and then when I found a woman who actually wanted kids, I told her that I didn't want them. Talk about a hypocrite." Antonio shook his head, as that wasn't how he saw it. "Matt, you thought you were doing what was best. You thought that you not taking the risk was the only way for you to keep Gabby safe. And if I were in your shoes, I don't know if I could've done that. I may have wanted to please my wife." Turning his head, Matt looked at Antonio as that didn't sound right. "I know, that sounded horrible." Matt snickered.
After which, Antonio continued. "You know what I mean though, I would've just said yes and not have the guts to say no." Matt agreed with Antonio, though he was much different. "I think I had the ability to do so because of my life experiences. Antonio, I had to watch my best friend die in front of me, and I had to watch as a fire took my fiancé's life. And that's why I'm extra worried, because my luck has never been on my side." Antonio then tried to make light of the situation. "Third times the charm? Maybe Gabby is the lucky one." Matt then looked at Antonio. "What about my kid? I mean, what happens if it comes down to that choice Antonio? The choice where I need to pick between my wife and our child?" Antonio gulped, as that was hard. "Yeah, that may be something I need to do. Though, I can promise you that I will save Gabby before I save our child. She's irreplaceable, which is what I really thought to tell her. Yes, I know that this is my fault that we're in this situation, and I know that she ran away because of what I said; but, this isn't all me. She could've told me a lot sooner, and maybe we could've had more options." Antonio agreed with Matt, as he knew that was true.
And that may have even included abortion, even though he didn't want to think that way. "I know what you mean, you just don't want to say that word because you don't think I would understand." Matt agreed, as he already knew that he wouldn't understand. "Antonio, you know that you wouldn't understand." Antonio shook his head. "Not in this case. Matt, what you're talking about is unprecedented. I mean, how can I really judge you for what you would do in this situation? So, trust me when I say that…if you guys chose to try and get an abortion, then I will support you." Matt shook his head. "It's already too late for that. She's past 20 weeks, and I highly doubt that she's going to do anything now that she's survived this long. She's probably only 2-3 months away from giving birth, so she's going to stick it out if I know your sister the way I do." Antonio agreed, as he had a feeling that was precisely what his sister was going to do. "Yeah, I can see Gabby doing that." Matt snickered. "Just make me a promise?" Antonio agreed. "What is it?" Matt sighed. "Stay out of our marriage. This is already hard. Just try and be there for both of us." Antonio agreed, as he could do that.
Casey-Dawson Home, Nassau – She tried her best to try and stay awake for as long as she could, but she just couldn't do it; she couldn't stay awake anymore, as she was exhausted. And that was precisely why Gabby was now in bed, trying to get some rest even though she wanted to see Matt. Though, what she couldn't know was that he was home and more than ready to hold her in his arms; especially since he thought that she was asleep. So, as he walked into the bedroom with his bags this evening, he smiled at his (pregnant) wife as she was truly gorgeous. And just the way she looks as she laid down in what was now their bed, it was perfect; especially since he was more than ready to join her. But first, he needed to strip down. So, he carried his bags over to the corner of the room closest to what was probably going to be his side of the bed, only to set his phone down. After which, he set his bags down and smiled at the woman he was looking at; only to hear Antonio at the door. "Matt, you want to hop in the shower tonight, or you going to take one in the morning?" Turning around, Matt smiled and whispered. "I think Gabby's asleep, so I'll join her."
Hearing Matt say that, Gabby decided to roll over and look at the man she loves. "If you want to take a shower Matt, go ahead. I can wait for you to go to sleep." Turning to look at Gabby when he heard her voice, Matt was surprised. "Hey, did I wake you?" Gabby smiled. "It's ok. I can't sleep that well at night anyways." Matt agreed with Gabby, only to look at Antonio. "Antonio, thanks for bringing my bags in. I'll get them in the morning. I'll take a shower in the morning too." Antonio snickered, as he knew why that was the case. "I'll go sleep in the basement, okay Gabby?" Gabby just rolled her eyes when she heard her brother say that. After all, why does he need to make those assumptions. "Antonio, just shut up before I force you to move out now that my husband is here." Antonio looked at his sister when she said that. "Last time I checked…" Matt then decided to stop the two siblings from fighting. "Enough." Both Antonio and Gabby then looked at Matt. "It's 11 at night, I'm tired, Gabby's tired and pregnant; I haven't seen or even kissed my wife in months. Can we please not have an argument between you both, when I want to have alone time with Gabby?"
Antonio agreed with Matt, as that's something he most certainly can do for the both of them. "Gabby, you just take it easy with your husband and relax. I'll take care of you guys and make you some breakfast in the morning." Gabby agreed with her brother, as she appreciated that offer. "I love that idea. Now, get out of here so that I can be alone with my husband." Antonio agreed with Gabby, prior to closing the door behind him as he walked out to leave Matt and Gabby alone. Meanwhile, Gabby went to get up out of bed and took a breath. "Hi, Matt." Matt smiled as he made his way over to his wife, more than ready to hug her and hold her in his arms this evening. And even though they need to talk about what they're going to do, all that matters at the moment is that he has her in his arms now. "Hey, it's okay. I'm here now." Matt said, as he wrapped his arms around Gabby and held her close. Meanwhile, Gabby wrapped her arms around his back and cuddled up to him; only to tear up and just held her husband close to her as she was scared. Meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arms around her waist and took a breath as he grabbed her butt and rubbed her back.
After all, this is what the both of them needed right now; they needed to hold each other close and just relax with each other. But first, he needs to do something: he needs to get changed. That way, he can get in bed with Gabby and hold her. And that's precisely what Matt plans on doing, right after he lays his wife down in bed. "There we go, you take it easy and just relax." Reaching up to grab Matt's arm, Gabby kept him close as she wanted him. "Stay for a minute." Turning his head, Matt agreed as he sat down on the edge of the bed and moved his hand to her neck. After which, he smiled as he stroked her cheek and looked at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "How are you feeling?" Gabby took a breath. "Scared, worried. Unsure of the future." Matt nodded and agreed, as he was sure that was something on her mind. "I can only imagine that's on your mind. But now, you don't need to keep all those feelings to yourself. But, you need to let me get changed baby. I want to hold you and just take it easy. Hell, I don't even need to sleep if you don't want to sleep. We can just hold each other and talk, if that's what you want to do all night." Gabby nodded.
But, that all depended on how long she could stay awake. "Depends on how long I can stay up, since I'm pregnant." Matt agreed with his wife. "Is the pregnancy similar to what we experienced the first time around? The way you sleep and wake up and stuff?" Gabby sighed, as she really doesn't remember. "I don't really remember much about our first pregnancy." Matt agreed with his wife, nodding as he leaned over Gabby and then kissed her; leaning his forehead against hers after kissing his beautiful wife, Matt smiled as he was happy to have her in his arms again. "You have no idea how nice it is to have you in my arms again." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she feels the same way. It feels so nice to be in his arms again, which is where she wants to be right now. More specifically, she wants to have him hold her in bed. "Can you do me a favor and go get changed? I love that you're here, but I would much rather have you hold me in bed." Nodding, Matt agreed with his beautiful wife. "Then how about you let me go get ready for bed? I'll brush my teeth and make myself smell nice. Then, I'll come join you in bed so that I can hold you in my arms." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled.
After all, that's precisely what she wants him to do. She wants him to hold her in bed, as they take it easy and just relax with each other now and for the rest of their lives. At least, that's what she hopes as she watched Matt walk away. "Matt?" Turning around to look at his wife, Matt smiled. "Yes?" Gabby then bit her lip. "This isn't just a quick visit, right? You're staying?" Matt nodded, as he was staying. He wasn't going anywhere. "Gabby, I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying with you, because I love you and I've missed you. The last thing you need to worry about is me leaving, especially when you're pregnant with our baby." Gabby agreed with Matt, prior to telling him something. "The baby is viable. That's why I didn't tell you." Matt nodded. "Let me get changed, and I promise that we can talk until we fall asleep." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that's precisely what she wants to do: she wants to talk to talk to him until she falls asleep in his arms; mostly due to the fact that she's missed him more than anything in the entire world and is more than ready to just take it easy and relax with him, hopefully for longer than her pregnancy. After all, it'd be her dream come true if she survives.
Walking out of their washroom in his boxers this evening, Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby as she stood at her dresser with the lights on. And as she did so, she showed off her growing baby bump; something which Matt liked the sight of, even though this was a scary time for the both of them. After all, Gabby could die because of the pregnancy. Though, that was the last thing that was on his mind at the moment because of how sexy and gorgeous his wife looks right now as she stood at the empty dresser and emptied his bag. "I guess that's going to be my dresser?" Turning to look at Matt when he asked her that question, Gabby smiled as he looked really good. "God, you've been working out." Smiling, Matt agreed with his wife as he made his way over to his wife. "You like?" Gabby smirked as Matt asked her that question, only to watch as he made his way over to her. "That depends, what do you think of the sight of me pregnant?" Smiling as he carried his clothes over to the laundry hamper Gabby has in her room, he went to set them down; after which, he made his way over to his gorgeous wife and smiled at her because of how beautiful she looks, even when she's pregnant.
No, especially considering she's pregnant with their child. That just makes her look even sexier than she ever looked. "I think that you look much more pregnant that you ever did the last time we were pregnant." Gabby agreed with Matt as she watched him walk up to her. And as she felt him place his hands on her stomach, she smiled as she wrapped her arms around his back and looked up into his eyes. "Matt, I'm really sorry about this. This is the last thing I wanted…" Placing his hand on the side of his wife's face, Matt shook his head as they both knew that was a lie as he stroked Gabby's cheek. "Hey, don't even bother lying when that's a horrible lie. Gabby, we both know that this is everything we've ever wanted in life. For us to have a viable pregnancy." Gabby agreed with her loving husband, as that most certainly is the truth: they've always wanted to have a family. "A beautiful family of our own." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled as he moved his hands to her neck, only to lean in and kiss her softly; that way, he could just keep Gabby nice and close to him. "I'm so sorry Gabby." Confused, Gabby looked up at Matt. "What are you talking about?" Matt sighed as he looked at Gabby.
After all, she probably didn't want to remember those horrible words he said to her; however, he did remember them and regretted them each and every day. "For those things I said to you Gabby, I truly regret them. And I just had to say that before you even let me in your bed. Our bed, if that's what it is. I know that I can't say anything to really make it better, but I just needed you to know that I regret what I said. That I've regretted what I said every since they left my mouth. You need to know that Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she knew that. She just knew based on what he texted her in June. "You sent me that text in June, and I remember what you said. I know that you're sorry Matt, so don't you worry about that." Matt agreed with Gabby as he got close to his wife and wrapped his arms around her, only to press his lips to her forehead. "I'll always regret what I said, never think that I won't. However, I also want to hold you in my arms as we take it easy. You need rest, and I want to do this right. I want to take care of you the way you need me to as your husband. Gabby, at the end of the day, that's all I should've been your husband who supported you and your choices."
Gabby shook her head. "I know that I should've listened to you. There's not a minute I didn't think about what you said. Plus, my brother texted me on the plane." Confused as Gabby said that, Matt just watched as she made her way back over to their bed to lay down. "What does that mean?" Taking a breath as she proceeded to sit on the edge of the bed, Gabby looked up at her husband. "Matt, I know it has to do with Hallie." Matt sighed, as he wished he would've been able to talk to her about that. "God, Antonio!" Walking past their room from the kitchen, Antonio looked at Matt. "Yeah?" Matt then turned his head and looked at him. "Seriously? You had to text Gabby about that conversation we had? About how this had to do with Hallie? You really think that was something you should've told my pregnant wife? That our problems have something to do with my late ex-fiancé, when she died? You really think that it was a good idea to get that in your sister's head, when I couldn't be here to hold her!" Antonio gulped, as he knew that he made a mistake. "Sorry Gabby." Gabby then looked at her brother. "What are you still doing here?" Antonio sighed, again.
After all, he wanted to be here just in case. "Thought I'd stay just in case you need a mediator." Gabby glared at her brother. "I think you can leave, as we can take care of ourselves. Plus, it's late and we're just going to sleep soon. Also, please stop admiring my sexy, boxer-clad husband. He's married and having a child with his wife." Smiling, Matt agreed with Gabby as that was the truth. "That I am, Ms. Casey." Matt said, as he walked over to her. After which, he placed his hands on the sides of her face and smiled as he leaned over her; only to kiss her softly as he wanted to make her feel better. "I love you." Gabby agreed, as she loves Matt too. "Antonio, leave and lock the door on your way out. I want time alone with Matt. We need to talk. Oh, and text me before you come visit tomorrow afternoon. We'll probably be in bed tomorrow." Matt then looked at Antonio. "Or you can just not come tomorrow, so that I can have time with my wife to talk things through." Antonio agreed, as he can do that for his sister and her husband. "Got it Matt. See you guys when you want to see me next." Matt agreed as he watched Antonio walk away for a moment, only to look at his wife.
The love of his life, who just slipped into bed as she looked at him. "I see that you brought some of my shirts with you here to Puerto Rico." Gabby agreed, as she did bring some of his shirts here to Puerto Rico with her. "Is that okay?" Matt agreed, as it was more than okay with him. "Of course, it is. I think that you should wear them if they make you happy." Matt said, prior to making his way back over to his gorgeous wife in their bed; that way, he could lay down with her. "Here, you want me to lay down so that I can hold you and make you feel better?" Gabby nodded as Matt asked her whether she wants him to lay down so that he can hold her and make her feel better, as that's precisely what she needs him to do right now. "I need that more than you know, Matt." Matt agreed with his wife, more than ready to give her precisely what she needs: his arms around her in bed, as they hold each other close and take it easy on their first night together in a long time. And let's just say that Matt can't wait to hold his gorgeous wife in his arms, as he's missed her more than anything. And that's precisely how he was going to start their conversation, just as soon as he was holding her close.
October 2, 2018 - The feeling of Matt holding her close in bed as she slipped her legs in between his was precisely what Gabby wanted this evening, she wanted to cuddle up to her man as they held each other close. Add in the fact that she now had Matt's soft hand on her stomach for the first time, it was truly everything she could ever ask for. She had her husband here with her in the Bahamas, where they could just take it easy and relax, as they try and start a family. And that's why Gabby decided to do something before she spoke to Matt: apologize. But, for what you might ask? Well, it would be for not coming home. "Matt?" Looking down at his wife as he turned his attention away from her baby bump, Matt smiled. "Yeah?" Gabby sighed. "I'm sorry for not coming home to Chicago, there's just so much that you don't know." Matt shook his head. "Antonio told me about what happened with you and Sylvie." Looking up at her husband, Gabby bit her lip. "He did?" Matt nodded as he placed his hand on the side of her face, only to lean his forehead against hers. "I did the math. You would've been pregnant at the time." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she was pregnant.
She was pregnant at the time they had their fight, and when she had her problems with Sylvie, which is something that really scared her, and was one of the reasons why she didn't want to come back. "Matt, I hate to say this, but it was one of the reasons why I didn't come back. I already put the baby through so much just then. When I found out that the baby survived that and our fight, I just couldn't take the risk. I needed to do whatever I could to ensure that our baby survived." Matt agreed, as he was glad that she did that. "Gabby, you have no idea how grateful I am that you decided to do that. You doing whatever you could to make sure that our baby survived, probably also allowed you to survive." Gabby took a breath as Matt said that. "It did Matt. The truth is, I don't know if I would've survived the pain of losing another baby." Matt then realized just how scared she was. "Matt, I can't lose another baby. We lost our first baby, and that hurt like hell. Loosing Louie almost broke me. But losing this baby…it'd almost be freeing if I did because of how much it would hurt to lose a baby. That's why I feel okay with doing this, as I have nothing else but this now."
Matt shook his head, as that wasn't the truth; they still had each other, and they'll always have each other. "Gabby don't say that. WE still have each other, and we'll always have each other. I love you, babe; I'll always love you, because you're my girl." Nodding, Gabby agreed with her husband as he told her that, prior to leaning in and kissing him softly. "Then do your girl a favor and support her in this. Matt, this is scary, and I need you to realize that. I want this so bad, but this is hard for me; especially since I've been doing it without my husband by my side this entire time. And while I know that it was my choice…" Matt shook his head. "It wasn't entirely your choice. We both know that I pushed you away and made you feel like you couldn't come home, simply due to the fact that you're pregnant. You probably thought that I would yell at you and be so mad, that you would end up miscarrying or dying after I yelled at you." Looking down, Gabby bit her lip as she felt so ashamed about how she felt. After all, she loves her husband more than anything and hated the thought of that. But, she had to admit the truth. "I have to say, that idea did cross my mind once or twice."
Matt nodded, understanding why that would be the case. After all, he was a complete ass to her when they had that conversation with each other on that last day. The way he treated her was inexcusable, yet she's forgiving him so that he can hold her in bed. "Gabby, the way I treated you that last day was inexcusable. And not just at home, but at the firehouse too. However, what happened at home was the worst thing I could've ever done, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. If I could go back and change anything, it would be that entire day; that way, you might've stayed, and we could've figured out a way forward together. Not that I don't like the fact that we're pregnant. I need to say that Gabby. I truly am happy, I'm thrilled that you're pregnant; after all, we tried for this for the longest time. This was a dream of ours. And maybe you were right, we just had to keep trying." Gabby nodded. "You needed to believe in me, Matt." Matt then realized what Gabby just said. "You felt like I didn't believe in you?" Gabby sighed, as she was ashamed to admit that was precisely how she felt about her husband: that she felt like he didn't believe in her. "I hate to admit it, but yes Matt."
Matt nodded as he listened to Gabby. "I felt like you didn't believe in me. That I wouldn't take the appropriate steps to try and stay alive, so that I could meet our child. It was like you didn't think I would do whatever I could to make sure that we had a good outcome. After all, you think I want to put myself through this, just so that I can't meet the child we both want more than anything?" Matt shook his head as he ran his hand up and down Gabby's back, as that was the last thing he was thinking about: that his wife would willingly want to die, when she wants to meet this child more than anything. "Matt, I want to live. And since you're here with me, I hope you know that I expect you to do whatever you can to help me survive this, because I'm going to need your help." Matt agreed with his wife, as that went without saying. He was going to do whatever he could to make sure that she survives this, and that she meets their son. "Gabby, I promise. We're going to do whatever is required to make sure that you meet our son. That you live, and that we find a way to get the aneurysm out. We should've looked at that option." Gabby agreed, as she felt the same way.
She feels like they should've looked at their options. "Maybe we can do that while we're here? I still need to figure out what I'm going to do when it comes to the delivery. My doctor was suggesting that we schedule a C-Section as soon as the baby is viable. So, that means that we would control everything. Get the baby out as soon as we can, so that the pressure on the aneurysm goes away as soon as possible." Matt agreed as he placed his hand on Gabby's back, as that was something they could look into. "We can definitely look into that babe, I promise. And I'm sorry that you had to go through this alone so far. I really do regret that Gabby, as I can only imagine how hard this has been on you." Gabby nodded, as it's been extremely hard on her. "It's been so hard Matt, you have no idea. But the worst part had to be me keeping this secret from you, as I knew that you would want this the moment you found out. I just couldn't take the risk, as I didn't know what you would make me do if you found out. Whether you would make me get an abortion or not." Matt sighed, as he knew that was a possibility. "And I get that now, babe. I do. I get that now." Gabby nodded.
Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on the back of her head as he leaned in and kissed his gorgeous wife softly. "Though, we still need to look at our options. All of our options. We need to do what's best for you and the baby." Gabby agreed with her husband, glad that they're finally on the same page. "Though, can we maybe not talk about the aneurysm for a while Matt? Right now, I just want to celebrate with you. I want to be happy that we're pregnant and back together." Matt agreed, as that was something they could do for a few days. "We can definitely do that for a few days. But, we need to make an appointment still. That's something we need to do ASAP. Other than that, we can celebrate being back together and figuring out a way forward. We can work on our marriage, and make sure that we're in a better place. I want to fix us Gabby, I truly do. And I want you to know that I'm rooting for you. I'm betting on you, and that you're going to survive." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled. "Me too." Nodding, Matt agreed as he leaned in and kissed his gorgeous wife softly. "Goodnight Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled as she kissed him until she fell asleep in his arms.
Though, as much as she thought that she'd sleep much better now that things have changed when it came to Matt being here; it turned out that one thing wasn't going to change. She was going to wake up in the middle of the night after a horrible dream…
