Chapter 6
Wild ride.
Reese was on edge as he entered the train station to go to the one place he dreaded. Atlas.
"What's up Reese?" Pyrrha asks.
"What's up is I'm in a place where I can ummm. How can I phrase this ummmm "remove me" from existence." Reese says.
"Your afraid that you'll be taken out?" Pyrrha asks.
"Yes I am and as we get closer to Atlas I might not be able to sleep." Reese says.
"Well we are going to be there for a while, you can't stay awake forever." Pyrrha says.
"Well I can. My longest time for staying awake was 100 hours." Reese says.
Everyone then turned and looked right at Reese with wide eyes.
"What did you do that for?" Weiss asks.
"It was an exercise that your sister did to me. She wanted to see how far she could push me." Reese says.
"What kind of exercises?" Qrow asks.
"Classified." Reese says.
"You tell us that you did a 100 hour no sleep contest but you won't tell us the details?" Ruby asks.
"Exactly." Reese says as he lowered his glasses on his eyes.
"Another mystery for me to find out." Yang says.
"I think I know what happened." Patty says.
Reese opens his eyes and looks at her.
Patty then starts blinking and after 30 seconds she stopped.
Reese then nodded.
"What did they just do?" Pyrrha asks.
"They just communicated with each other in a dead language." Qrow says.
"What language was it?" Ruby asks.
"Morse code." Qrow says.
"What's that?" Yang asks.
"An ancient way of communication between one another it's done by a series of dashes and dots." Qrow says.
"Interesting." Yangs says.
"Hello pretty lady's." someone said.
Reese looked and saw two guys with weapons and they were looking at Ruby and Yang.
"What now?" Reese thought.
"We are a pair of huntsman, who will offer their services to those in need. Now we noticed that there are four of you young ladies are traveling alone. So we are going to offer you protection from the hazards of this journey. But the price will be high." Said one of them.
Reese then stood up and took his place next to Yangs uncle.
"Listen bud I don't know where you got your training, but I'm a professional huntsman so you guys need to beat it." Qrow says as Ruby and Yang make faces.
The two wannabes then looked at Reese who was just starting at them.
"Hey you let's see what you can do." The dummy says.
Reese looks at qrow and Yang at the same time and they both nodded.
"Ok I'll see what I can do." Reese says as he lazyly walks up to them.
Reese had no weapons on him and he deactivated the armor, he figured his odds were good against the wannabe's.
"Where is your weapon? Don't tell us you forgot your weapon." One them said.
Reese said nothing back.
The dummies then looked at each other then started laughing.
Reese then took the opportunity to close the distance that took them by surprise.
"What the!.?" One said.
"How did he!?" The other said.
Reese then palm strike one of them, Reese sent him flying, then Reese turned around to see the other swing his weapon, Reese then ducked underneath of it.
"What are you?" He asks as he looks on in horror.
"Someone who is better than you." Reese says as he roundhouse kicks him in the jaw.
"If you were a professional huntsman you should have beaten me. That was basic hand to hand combat 101, and another thing don't hit on my wife." Reese says as he takes his place next to Yang.
Then they got up and ran off.
"Did you have to hit them that hard Reese?" Pyrrha asks.
"Well I got the nod from Yangs uncle, so yeah." Reese says as he sits back down.
"But did you really have to do that?" Pyrrha asks.
"Well they we're half telling the truth. They were trained huntsman. But they dropped out of their school. So they are doing a job without the certifications and is that a criminal offense?" Reese asks.
Pyrrha takes a moment to think then nods.
"Why didn't you arrest them?" Ruby asks.
"I don't work for Atlas anymore. I would be doing the same thing as they are, acting on no authority to carry out their training." Reese says.
"Now boarding on platform 25 train leaving for Atlas in 30 minutes." Said the intercom.
"That's our ride." Reese says as he picks up his carry on bag.
"I got a question for Patty." Ruby says.
"Go ahead." Reese says.
"How long is the ride?" Ruby asks.
"If we are going at top speed we would get to Atlas in 34 hours." Patty says.
"Humm interesting." Ruby says.
They then boarded the train and pretty soon they took off, once they were clear of the station Reese then got the dew out and put it on his concealed holster and took his spot next to Yang and put his head on her shoulder.
"Tired?" Yang asks.
"Yep I hope things don't go bad while we are there." Reese says as his eyes get heavy.
Yang then noticed that he was about black out.
"Why do you close your eyes for a bit, take a rest." Yang says as she lowers her voice.
"Mmmmm no I got to stay awake." Reese says as he struggled to keep his eyes open.
Yang then turned and grabbed hold of his head and she laid down and put Reese's head under her chin.
"Why fight the tiredness, take a rest, it will be a long trip, I'll be right here, doesn't sleep sound pleasant?" Yang asks.
"It sounds great." Reese says as he hugs Yang.
"Then close your eyes. Take a break." Yang says.
Then all Yang heard was the steady breathing that was coming from Reese. Now she was feeling tired too so Yang closed her eyes too for the trip.
10 hours later.
The train then jolted violently that caused Reese and Yang to both wake up.
"What's going on?" Yang asks as she arms her gauntlets.
"Don't know. Patty what's happening out there?" Reese asks.
"There are several Grimm flying around the train. The automatic defense system on the train is trying to hold them off but there are to many of them." Patty says.
"Got it. Yang get the gang we need to defend this train." Reese says as he grabbed his PDW.
Reese then found a hatch that led to the roof of the train.
Then he opened the hatch to see a lot of flying Grimm.
"Patty how many?" Reese asks.
"30." Patty says.
"Perfect." Reese says as he gets on the roof.
Reese then hears gunfire near the front of the train.
"It's the wannabe huntsman." Patty says.
"Yeah how much do you want to bet that they lied to the train conductor about their credentials, and now they are on the chopping block?" Reese asks.
"Pretty much they are way over their heads." Patty says.
Reese then heard one of them shouting to him.
"Hey you shouldn't be here get back inside. We will handle this." One of them said.
"Still keeping up the lie." Reese thought.
"Three coming at you behind you." Patty says.
Reese then turned around and took aim.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Three shots three Grimm dead.
Reese then turned back to see the wantabe's mouths are open.
"Behind you!" Reese said but was too late to say it.
One Grimm took advantage of the moment and knocked one of the guys off the train where he feel to the ground and probably to his death.
Reese then rushed forward to stop the other one from doing something stupid.
"Listen you need to get out of here. I have some reinforcements coming to back me up. You need to make sure that the train conductor stays at full speed got it?" Reese asks.
The guy then nodded and he left, Reese then looked back towards the end of the train to see both teams armed and ready.
"What are your orders Reese?" Ruby asks.
"Weapons free. Defend this train." Reese said.
The gang then got to work, some were engaging the Grimm with swords while others engaged them with guns.
"Reese the train's raidar has picked up more contacts." Patty says.
BOOM!
Another Grimm dead.
"How many more?" Reese asks.
"60." Patty says.
"Nuts. Ruby!" Reese says.
KABOOM!
Ruby then used crescent rose to propel herself back to him.
"What's up?" Ruby asks as she presses her back against Reese's back.
"The train's radar picked up more Grimm incoming, 60 are joining the fight." Reese says.
"It's probably because of all the people on board. The Grimm are attracted to the fear the people are causing." Ruby says.
"What do we do then?" Blake asks.
"Rent use your semblance to shield the passengers and crew from the Grimm. Then we decouple this car from the rest of the train. Let's go!" Ruby says.
After a few minutes every one was in position waiting for the call from Reese.
"Everyone ready?" Reese asks.
"Ready." Everyone said.
"3-2-1 go!" Reese says.
Weiss and Blake detached the train car from the rest of the locomotive.
Ruby and Yang secured the motorcycles for use later.
And everyone else held positions and held off the Grimm.
Then the caboose then started to go backwards and just as planned the Grimm got distracted by the caboose.
"Great it worked now what?" Weiss asks.
"Brace for impact." Reese says as he ducks back into the caboose.
"That was your plan!?" Weiss says.
"That's as far as I got." Reese says as he locks his armor down.
"YOU BAKA!" Weiss shouted as she takes cover.
CRACH! SMASH! stop.
For one second Reese was awake the next he was out like a light. For a few seconds Reese didn't know why he was out but then Yangs voice came through.
"Reese you awake?" Yang asks while shaking him gently.
"Sorta." Reese says before blacking out.

Item: Predator armor.
Armor version number 5 is the current armor being used by the graduates of squads 16 and REDACTED, it features a life support system that can keep an operator alive even in the harshest conditions. Tests have shown it can take 150 degree temperature climate but at the same time it can keep someone warm even in the coldest conditions to at least -70 degree Fahrenheit. The armor is powered by an unknown type of dust that makes enormous amounts of energy when put inside a container. Current data suggests that this dust can keep the armor powered up for 50 years non stop. While the armor boasts a good protection rating additional strike plates can be added. The plates can take several hits from large caliber weapons to several tons of Grimm energy. Currently there are 8 armor sets out there. Four have been destroyed, three are with squad 16, and the last is held by Reese his current whereabouts are unknown.
