Chapter 9
POI
Reese woke up from his wild night with Yang and his hips hurt.
"Damn Yangs hips hit hard." Reese thought.
Yang then rolled over where Reese got a good view of her body.
"Morning." Yang says with a smile.
"Morning sweetie." Reese says back.
"What time is it?" Yang asks.
"Ummm it's 10am we overslept." Reese says.
"Right lets go see if there is any food left assuming Nora didn't eat it all." Yang says.
They both then got up and got ready for whatever the day presented, when they got to the lobby they found the rest of the group talking, but when Reese saw the rest of team rwby they had circles around their eyes.
"Wow what happened to you? Lack of sleep." Reese says.
Ruby was the first to respond.
"Well we were about to get some sleep, but someone made a lot of noise for a good part of the night." Ruby says with a scowl.
"Well if it brings any comfort I had a hard night too." Reese says.
"Oh yeah how so?" Weiss asks.
"Well someone got some action too and here they come." Reese says.
Just then the group saw Jaune and Pyrrha come down the stairs and they look a little messy.
"How did you know they were coming I didn't hear them?" Blake says.
"I got enhanced hearing so even out of my armor I can hear some frequencies but not all." Reese says.
"So what are we doing here in Atlas?" Reese asks.
"We are going to see ironwood and convince him to help us." Ruby says.
"That might be hard." Reese thought.
"That's going to be difficult. Since Atlas is starting to close it's borders and have regular patrols throughout the streets." Winter says.
"So the city is under lockdown?" Blake says.
"Yes it is." Reese says.
"Well can we at least arrange a meeting with him?" Ruby asks.
"That's possible." Winter says as she whips out her phone.
Yang then looks at Reese but he was staring out the window and he was not even blinking.
"What do you see?" Yang asks.
"Something but i don't know what." Reese says.
Reese continued to stare. What he saw was a faunas that had a scorpion tail and he was holding a pair of binoculars and he was reporting in.
"I see the group they are talking about something but one of the males of the group is looking right at me." He says.
"Oh don't worry about him we have a… arrangement for his untimely demise." Says a woman on the other end.
"So what shall I do in the meantime?" He asks.
"Leave we will put our plan into motion to capture Ruby tonight." She says.
A few minutes later.
"Alright the general can see you in a few hours." Winter says.
"Yes we are making progress." Ruby says.
Everyone was chatting away well except for Reese he was deep in thought. Then Ruby noticed and then the rest of the group noticed.
"Alright what's up Reese?" Ruby asks.
"I don't know I can't shake the feeling that something is going on and we don't know what it is." Reese says.
"Well we are going to see the general and ask him for certain information then we will get out of here." Ruby says.
"It's obvious that he is still worried that he will be eliminated, but I have to go now." Winter says as she leaves.
"Well we have some options." Ruby says.
"And they are?" Blake asks.
"Option one Reese goes with us but uses his armor to cloak himself. Or two he can stay here and wait." Ruby says.
"Well knowing how ironwood operates he would probably have any counter measure that can defeat my armor, so the only option is for me to stay here." Reese says.
"But you won't be at my side." Yang says.
"That is a downside that I'll have to deal with for a time but we will be back together." Reese says.
A few hours later.
"Alright Reese we are going to be gone for a few hours." Ruby says.
Reese then gives the thumbs up and resumes repairs on his armor.
As Reese was looking at the armor he noticed a lot of damage to it.
"Shotgun pellets, handgun rounds and some knives or sword damage. Patty, how is it that I was able to survive this long?" Reese asks.
"You have version five it has the highest armor rating out of all the previous versions, it was designed for the sole purpose to keep the operator alive." Patty says.
"Let me rephrase that. What are the limits of the armor?" Reese asks.
"Well that's classified, but from what I can tell you it can take hundreds of rifle hits before it fails and several tons of strike force." Patty says.
Just then Reese got a message from Winter.
"Meet me at this location." It said.
Then it was followed by a gps location.
Reese sighed and put the armor on.
"Your going to meet her?" Patty asks.
"Well yeah she might have something important to tell me." Reese says.
"Why didn't she tell you while she was here?" Patty asks.
"Well it might be something for my ears not for the rest of the team." Reese says.
Reese then activated his active camouflage and walked out with only his anti aura knife, while the rest of his weapons were locked away.
30 minutes later.
"Well I didn't expect the general to be so cooperative." Weiss says.
"Yeah it's even better that he also gave us our licenses to be official huntsman." Ruby says.
Yang meanwhile was in deep thought.
"Hey sis your doing the same thing Reese does." Ruby says as she taps her shoulder.
"Sorry I was just thinking how the General was behaving." Yang says.
"How so?" Blake asks.
"Well for one he kept looking at his watch and he also agreed on certain things and he disagreed on certain things, I don't know I feel like he was stalling for time." Yang says.
"Well let's get back to the hotel and let's talk with your husband and see what he thinks." Ruby says.
Meanwhile at Reese he was approaching the location that Winter wants to meet.
"Patty check for threats." Reese says.
No response.
"Must be a crap signal." Reese says.
Reese then got out from the alley way that he was hiding in, but a new sensation hit him, his hairs were standing on end and he got a feeling that he needed to get out.
Bang! That was a gun shot.
Reese then felt a burning sensation in his side just below his left rib.
"AHHHHH! SHE SET ME UP!" Reese shouted.
Meanwhile at Winters office.
Urgent message. It said on Winters computer.
"Humm I wonder who it is?" Winter says.
Just then an image of Patty pops up.
"Did you send Reese this location for a meeting?" Patty asks in mad tone.
"No I did not why?" Winter says back.
"Reese is in trouble." Patty says.
Winter then started running at full speed to the location where Reese is.
"Patty, get into my glasses, I need your help." Winter says.
"Done." Patty says.
"Reese don't die yet you still have a job to complete." Winter thought.
Back at the hotel.
"I wonder what Reese is doing?" Blake says.
"You seem to be liking him." Weiss says.
"Well he seems to be a very interesting guy." Blake says.
"Someone has a crush on Reese." Yang says in a singsong tone.
"I do not." Blake says back.
Yang then reached the door where Reese should be instead he was not there.
"Looks like he wants to have fun, everyone spread out and look for him he is in this room." Yang says.
Everyone then started to look for him but they got something new.
SLAM! click.
That was the door slamming shut and locking.
Then Ruby saw a black mist enter the room and blind everyone for a few seconds then when it disappeared Ruby saw everyone was held hostage by either a Grimm or a human or faunas.
"Why am I not the one who is being held?" Ruby thought to herself as she deployed her weapon.
"Stop right there. We don't want to cause harm." Said the big guy who is holding Yang.
"Yeah right. And why should I cooperate?" Ruby asks.
"Hehehe. Because she wants to speak to you." The scorpion faunas says.
"Who is she?" Ruby asks.
Just then the door opens and Ruby's eyes widened, what she saw was a woman whose skin is pure white with some red veins showing on her face and on her arms and she was wearing a long black dress. Then the woman opens her eyes and they were bright red.
"She has eyes that looks like Reese's." Ruby thinks.
She then looks at Ruby and smiles.
"Hello Ruby." She says.
Ruby was a little surprised at her voice but she was surprised that she knew her name.
"Hello and how do you know my name? and what's your name?" Ruby asks.
"Oh dear me where are my manors. My name is Salem, and I've been waiting for a chance to talk with you for a long time." Salem says.
"Well that's swell and all but could you have done it without threatening my friends?" Ruby asks.
"Well I wanted to do it peacefully but more than likely your friends would have interrupted us. I want to talk with you one on one." Salem says.
Salem then walks over to the sofa and sits down.
"Come Ruby sit down lets have a chat you can even keep your weapon aimed at me." Salem says.
Ruby is hesitant at first but the sound of someone being choked a little made her decision.
"Ok I'll talk with you." Ruby says as she turned crescent rose Into it's rifle mode.
Ruby then sat on the far side of the sofa and aimed at Salem's chest.
"Ok what do you want to talk about." Ruby says.
"The truth." Salem says.
Meanwhile
Reese then got kicked and was now on the ground.
"What is going on? Why isn't my armor working? How am I going to get out of this?" Reese thought.
"Well sadly we have had our fun but this is the end Reese ironwood wants you gone you know too much." Said one of the Atlas soldiers.
"Fuck you." Reese says.
Just then a round hit the leader of the group in the head and he dropped.
"SNIPER!" One of them said.
Reese then took the opportunity to get into cover and got ready for another fight.
Then it was silent then another crack, another target down.
"Find Reese so we can get out of here." Said the soldier.
"I saw him duck into that alleyway." Said another.
Reese then heard some heavy footsteps and then they stopped, Reese then looked out from cover and with his thermal vision that he had, he could see the Atlas soldier and he was moving slowly.
"Where are you? You can't hide forever." Soldier said.
Reese then takes a breath and waits.
Thump thump thump thump….. thump… thump.
Reese slowed his heart rate and listened for the faint footsteps.
Step.
That was right next to him.
WOOOSH!
Reese busts out of cover then he tackles the target.
Now the adrenaline is surging Reese was full on defensive mode.
PUNCH! SMACK! PUNCH!
"WHY WONT YOU STAY DOWN!" The Atlas trator asked.
Reese then grabbed his knife and brought it down.
Outside the alleyway the last trator was dealing with the sniper.
"I'm not paid enough for this." The last one started running.
Next thing he knew was he got hit but he fell asleep.
Then the sniper got out from cover and decloaked.
Reese then came out from the alleyway and immediately got into a defensive stance.
The person in the black armor then took off the helmet and it was Winter.
Reese then relaxed.
"I had my suspicions but I guess you didn't set me up?" Reese asks.
"No it was Patty who warned me that it was happening. Why did ironwood use the Ace core." Winter says.
"Wait they are special forces?" Reese asks.
"Umm I hate to interrupt but we have a problem." Patty says.
"What is it?" Winter asks.
"The hotel has been breached." Patty says.
"Reese, we got to go to the hotel is under attack." Winter says.
Then both mother and son ran to a car and immediately sped off to the hotel.
"Any weapons?" Reese asks.
"Two subs in the center console." Winter says.
Reese then grabbed them and they looked like boxes.
"Is this a joke?" Reese says.
"Hit the button on the side." Winter says back.
Reese then hits it and it deploys and turns into a small firearm.
"It's loaded with 115 gr anti aura rounds. You only have 30 shots make them count." Winter says.
"Got it." Reese says.
They both then got to the front door, and moved in while they both activated there active camouflage and they ran for the penthouse.
It took them only a minute to get to the penthouse when they arrived Reese put his ear to the door and listened.
"I only hear two people one of them is Ruby and the other is a woman I don't recognize." Reese whispers.
"We are going to have to hit it hard and fast." Winter whispers as she brings out a breaching charge.
After a few seconds they both were ready.
"Hold up let me do something." Reese says as he focuses.
Winter then looks down and sees a familiar clock that resembles Weiss's time distortion ability.
"I slowed us down. Ready?" Reese asks.
"Ready." Winter says as she hits the clacker.
30 seconds earlier.
"No that's impossible Ozpin is not immoral." Ruby says.
"Sadly it's the truth. Have you ever noticed how he acts so shady. You know Ruby did you ask yourself why he has kept his eye on you?" Salem says.
Ruby then paused and looked away and thought about it.
"I've always wanted to know a lot of things and that is one of them." Ruby says.
"Well I know why. Do you want to know?" Salem asks.
Before Ruby got to say anything a new sound came from the room.
Click BOOM! BOOM!
That was the door charge going off and a m100 detonating.
But Ruby didn't get to see the rest of the action because what she saw next was blackness.
Reese's perspective.
"Hit it." Reese says.
click BOOM!
The door charge went off then Reese tossed in a m100 to stun everyone in the room.
They both then entered and the first thing Reese engaged was a tall guy holding Yang hostage.
BOOM! one to the head he was down then Reese aimed at the Grimm guarding the team JPNR.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Grim down but then the room was empty no threats but there was a problem.
"RUBY!" Yang shouted.
"PYRRHA!" Jaune shouted.
Reese then looked around and indeed they were both missing, correction Weiss, and Blake we're both missing.
WACK! that was Yang's fist impacting Reese's face.
"Hey! What was that for!?" Reese asks.
"Where were you? What were you doing? Why didn't you get here faster?" Yang was crying/mad she was on adrenaline.
"Yang you need to calm down." Reese says.
"CALM DOWN! MY SISTER IS GONE AND YOU HAVE THE GALL TO TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!" Yang shouts.
"That's it." Reese says.
CLAP!
Reese then does the clap stunner on Yang and she slowly starts to black out.
"You basterd." Yang says as she falls asleep.
Reese then looks around and sighs.
"Looks like we are at war." Reese says.
