Camilo woke up early again and got ready before heading to the kitchen. This time though he made breakfast he would have had back at home.
The first ones up were Ezekiel and Luca. Ezekiel because he was a farmer, who regularly woke up early and Luca because for some reason kids liked to wake up early instead of sleep in.
"What's this, eh? It looks fancy," Ezekiel asked.
"And delicious," Luca added.
"Colombian breakfast," was all the Shapeshifter said, smiling as he handed them a plate.
Jaeden was woken up by Duncan throwing his crusty socks in his face. Not the best way to wake up.
"C'mon, losers! Hurry it up or Owen'll eat everything," Duncan said.
"What's the point?" Harold sighed as he rolled off his bunk and hit the floor with a 'thud.'
"Camilo's cooking."
That got everyone up and scrambling around to get dressed and to the Main Lodge.
There were only four girls left in the cabin. The same amount as the Bass girls. It was also a bit more quieter without Lindsay and Leshawna but Izzy and Heather still had their fair share of being loud and annoying.
Today Sophia woke up to Izzy splashing a bucket full of lake water all over her. "Wake up! Another day of torture awaits!"
And with that she skipped out of the cabin.
"Joy," Sophia finally managed to grumble after spitting out the dirty water.
"Bass, Gophers, today's challenge is a summer popular. A canoe trip!" Chris gestured to the canoes laid out in front of the lake.
"You'll be paddling across the lake to… Boney Island! When you get there you must portage your canoes and take a two hour hike through the treacherous jungle to the other shore."
"We've gotta pour what?" Geoff asked the question worthy of Lindsay's mindset. His team stared at him like he was an idiot but Luca also looked confused about this word.
Tyler, too, was confused. "I think he said potato."
"Pickles," Jaedan said.
"Shut up!" Courtney said.
"Portage!" Chris yelled, rolling his eyes at the Bass. "Meaning walk with your canoe over your head, dammit!"
"I know that!" Courtney yelled.
"Oh." Tyler and Geoff said.
"Cool beans," Jaedan said.
"When you arrive at the other end of the island, you'll build a fire that'll be judged by me. First team to paddle home wins invincibility. Oh and beware of taking anything and I mean anything off the island or you'll be cursed!"
Everyone froze in shock except for Owen, who cheered like it was the best news in the world. He trailed off awkwardly when he noticed everyone staring at him in shock.
"Now move, campers! Move!"
They all raced down to the shore and started picking their paddle partners.
(Confessional Cam)
Heather- As long as it isn't Owen, I don't really care who I'm with. And Sophia. And Gwen. And Noah…
Cody- I should probably partner up with Gwen. Sophia and I are her only friends left. And Camilo, but she's not as close with him.
Luca- Another water challenge? No problem-o!
Sophia- /shrugs/ Canoeing is okay, I guess. Imagine being with Owen? No offense to him. Just the truth.
"Hey, Gwen, wanna partner up?" Cody asked the Goth. He approached her with an extra life jacket.
"Sure," she smiled a bit.
"Hey, little buddy," Owen said, bumping Noah with his stomach and knocking him to the ground. "Whoops, sorry, wanna canoe together?"
Noah looked around quickly but to his dismay everyone else on his team was already partnering up. "Fine," he groaned. "This is gonna be hell."
Izzy made a beeline to Camilo but stopped short when she spotted him, helping Heather into a canoe like the gentleman he was. Heather caught Izzy's gaze and mouthed, 'alliance.'
Izzy nodded in understanding and reluctantly joined Justin and Sophia. If anyone could convince people to join an alliance it was Heather. Still it would have been the perfect opportunity to get closer to Camilo.
With the Bass, Duncan and Courtney partnered up, begrudgingly on the CIT's end, Eva and a nervous Harold went together, the trio of boys were together of course, and Tyler and Geoff high-fived as they carried their canoe to the water. And of course, Katie and Sadie were together.
(Confessional Cam)
Cody- Okay, I think Gwen seems a bit down. And I understand. Maybe I should ask if she wants to talk about it. Hopefully, she won't kill me for asking.
Heather- I thought this would be the perfect chance to convince Camilo to join my alliance. It's all part of strategy.
Sophia- Izzy is okay of course but Justin creeps me out. He barely talks and it's weird how he just stares. /she shudders/
Justin was just standing there as Izzy attempted to push the canoe into the water. Sophia was staring at him suspiciously and then the model looked her in the eyes.
"Hey, can you talk?" She suddenly asked, feeling unnerved by those blue eyes. Izzy fell into the canoe, laughing as she failed to push it in again.
"Yes," was all Justin said, smiling his charming smile.
"Cool," Sophia nodded with a nervous smile and turned to help get the canoe into the water.
Meanwhile, Geoff was listening interestedly to Tyler as he told him about the last football championship he had won for his team.
"And then after tripping I went flying and landed in the touchdown zone!" Tyler finished.
"That sounds wicked, dude, you guys throw celebration parties after?" Geoff asked.
"Hell yeah! With firecrackers!"
"Dude, we should totally host a party together one day!"
"Yeah, right after I win my next sport's game. Baseball season is coming up, after all!"
(Confessional Cam)
Geoff- Tyler is like my bestest friend right now! And since dude knows how to party we have to throw the ultimate party together!
Tyler- Geoff is like one of the only people who appreciates hearing about my sports wins. I should invite him to see me play!
"On your mark… get set… paddle!" Chris shot an empty gun and a dead eagle dropped by his feet. He blanched and muttered, "that'll provoke some angry emails." Apparently, it was loaded.
The campers didn't know this though and Luca, who was in the back of his canoe, ducked. Ezekiel was in the middle and Jaeden in front.
"Relax, Luca, I'm sure it was a blank," Jaeden reassured.
"A blank?"
"It was empty, eh. No bullets," Ezekiel explained.
"Oh," Luca sighed in relief and sat upright and began to help paddling.
Noah's end of the canoe wasn't even touching the water while Owen's was sinking a bit.
With Cody and Gwen things were quiet and awkward until Cody hesitantly asked, "So, um… how's life been?"
"Okay, I guess."
"Is it okay if I ask you what's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing, just Heather. I miss Trent and Leshawna. And what if you or Sophia is next? Or myself?"
"Hey, it's okay, we've got the Shapeshifter on our side. We can beat them!" He flexed.
"Yeah, I guess," Gwen chuckled at his attitude. "Let's try and win though! We're losing lots of members of our team!"
Izzy was telling Justin and Sophia about the time she was taught to cook koalas and crocodiles.
"Isn't that illegal?" Sophia asked.
"I dunno, maybe, yeah," she chuckled awkwardly and Justin exchanged a look with the sane redhead behind him.
"Can you paddle on your own?" Heather asked, deciding to play it innocent and nice with Camilo.
"Si, mi amor," he said and Heather looked straight ahead until she stopped blushing before she made her next move.
She leaned down and laid her head on his lap yet he kept paddling, not minding at all. He just concentrated on paddling, but from time-to-time he smirked down at her.
Izzy noticed this, not paying attention to controlling her paddle which resulted in hitting Justin in the groin. He groaned from behind her as he clutched himself.
"Oops, sorry," she mumbled, blushing.
With the Bass, Duncan and Courtney were arguing, Harold was trying not to piss off Eva, while the other three boats had friendly chatter.
"Aww, look at them arguing like an old married couple!" Jaedan said loud enough for everyone to hear.
They laughed at the two's expense and Courtney yelled at Jaedan.
They all finally reached the shore of Boney Island and Izzy hopped out of her canoe in excitement.
"This place looks so cool!" She exclaimed.
"C'mon, let's roll!" Jaeden yelled and he and Ezekiel held the canoe above their heads. Luca couldn't reach it so he just ran behind them. Courtney and Duncan took the lead with the rest of the team following.
"C'mon, let's catch up!" Owen exclaimed excitedly. Noah held the canoe above his head but when Owen picked his end up, Noah was lifted into the air, holding the canoe still.
"Seriously?" He yelled as they started their run.
The losers were laughing at Noah's expense except for Leshawna, who was still pacing around and ranting. She'd found out what Heather had done the night she was eliminated.
"Leshawna, please calm down!" Trent pleaded.
"Are you happy to be voted off unfairly?" Leshawna snapped.
"Well, no, but-"
"Exactly!"
Trent sighed.
"This place is very sketchy," Justin observed as they ran. There were skulls everywhere whether they were real or not, it was still creepy as hell.
"Come on! Come on!" Izzy yelled, trying to psyche the team up. Heather and Camilo were in the front of the pack.
Suddenly, a tree fell in front of them and they all skidded to a halt, gasping in surprise. Noah bumped into Owen and fell to the ground.
"Tell me that was a setup," the Bookworm muttered in annoyance as Owen helped him up again.
"Who cares! Let's just go on!" Gwen said nervously as Cody noticed eyes glinting from the shadows.
"She's right! RUN!"
Everyone panicked from his panic and taking the lead, Cody and Gwen led them away as the monster-looking beavers gave chase. They passed a bear on the way, peacefully minding its own business but stopped to stare at them as they passed by.
They stopped at a dead end and to their relief, the monstrous creatures turned tail and left.
"Anyone pack a change of underwear?"
"DUDE!" Everyone shouted in disgust and a bit of amusement at Owen.
"Um, guys," Noah spoke up, nervously. "I think the reason they left at all is because some other animals live here! RUN, DAMMIT!"
They all turned and ran back the way they came passing the same bear.
"Uh, was it just me or was that bear wearing glasses?" Camilo asked.
"Someone do something!" Gwen screamed.
Sophia pulled out a marble and threw it at one of the geese. It hit its eye and the other geese collided with the stunned goose, all of them falling into a pile of feathers.
"Well, that's one way to get rid of them," Camilo said. The Bass passed them as they stopped.
"Come on guys, the race isn't over yet!" Izzy cried. "We still have to burn stuff!" The redhead said the word 'burn' like you would for cute puppies or something.
Justin rolled his eyes at the crazy girl.
"Anyone have a good opinion on which path we should take?" Courtney asked. "Left, perhaps?"
"Right," Ezekiel spoke up. "It looks less sketchy, eh."
"Alright, then," Courtney shrugged and Ezekiel prayed he wasn't leading his team into a trap or something.
"I see the other team!" Justin yelled. "They're going right!"
"Then let's go left!" Heather said.
"But if we choose the same path we either can both be right or wrong!" Camilo protested.
"Fine," Heather relented with an annoyed sigh.
The two teams raced neck in neck and tied when they reached the shore. Heather and Sophia quickly started building their fire. Heather rubbed sticks together while Sophia tried hitting two stones.
They peeked over at the Bass to see they had a small fire going already, and started panicking a bit.
"How did they do that?" Camilo asked. Duncan showed him the lighter with a smirk. "Of course." He rolled his eyes good-naturedly.
"How can he be so bright about everything?" Gwen mumbled, enviously. "He's kinda like Geoff."
"Yeah, but being happy is the only way to move forward in this game, I think," Cody said.
Justin came across a tiki doll and smirked. He had a devious idea. He snuck it in his pocket and somehow managed to slip it in Harold's pocket without getting caught. He wouldn't know it had come from the island… but Chris would.
"We need more wood!" Courtney ordered.
"You heard her! Let's get to it, guys!" Geoff exclaimed and he and Tyler went to find more sticks.
Ezekiel noticed the paddles and thought why not? He didn't think until after he'd thrown them into the fire, how would they get back?
"HOW WILL WE GET BACK?!" Eva bellowed in his face. Luca jumped in the air and hid behind Courtney.
"This ought to do the trick, it's a handmade Firestarter that I learned to make," Izzy said, tossing a sappy looking ball around. "Stand back guys, this is gonna be big!"
Everyone stepped back nervously and she threw it into the fire with a maniacal grin on her face. It exploded and the fumes went so high, Chris, watching over them in a helicopter, had to swerve to avoid the smoke.
"Now that's a fire! The Gophers win! Now back to the canoes you go!" He yelled into the megaphone.
"How are we gonna get back?" Jaeden asked as the Gophers started paddling away.
"You can get someone to push you and your canoes from behind!" Izzy called, helpfully.
Not helpful for her team though as Sophia and Justin gaped at her in shock as she started telling yet another story. Justin angrily paddled forward with such force that she fell back in his lap.
"That's actually not a bad idea," Courtney mused thoughtfully.
"I'll do it!" Luca volunteered, determinedly.
"Are you sure? I know you're a Sea Monster but are you strong enough to push ten people?" Courtney asked.
"Better I try, no?" The boy asked.
"I can help the little dude," Tyler volunteered. "I'm an excellent swimmer."
"Let's hope so," Eva grumbled and they all started piling the canoes on top of each other before climbing on.
Luca and Tyler got in the water behind the canoes and started paddling as they pushed. "Luca! Tyler! Luca! Tyler!" Their team chanted, encouragingly.
They passed all the Gophers and went sliding off a rock and flew through the air, crashing onto the campgrounds.
"And we have our winner! The Killer Bass!" Chris yelled from the shore.
Once the Gophers reached the shore, Gwen glared at Izzy. "Look what you did!"
"Honestly," Noah muttered, uncaring. "If Cody hadn't been blowing kisses to Tyler we would have won."
Everyone slowly turned to look at him, Cody turned red.
"IT WAS FROM LINDSAY!" He yelled, throwing his arms in the air.
"My bad. I was trying to help the team find someone reasonable to vote off. The Bookworm walked away after saying his bit.
"Why is he such an ass?" Sophia wondered aloud.
Camilo looked at Cody, smirking. "What's this about Tyler?"
Cody left. Everyone else followed.
"My, what a dysfunctional team, hm?" Heather asked, walking up to his side, so close their hands brushed. Camilo had the urge to hold her hand, but resisted.
She was the enemy.
But he still waited around to hear her out.
"So Camilo, you and I are smart players, what do you say… we team up?" Heather asked.
Camilo sighed. "Sorry, Heather. But I like to play as fair as possible." He backed away, hands up. "But hopefully we can still be friends? Even at our odds?"
He turned and left a wide-eyed and gaping Heather.
(Confessional Cam)
Heather- That boy is so confusing…
Camilo- /smirks/ Sorry, Heather. But I'm gonna be on top. Of the game that is.
Cody- Man, why is everyone teasing me about Tyler. Maybe I shouldn't have literally done that for Lindsay. Just say it. At least, no one knew about Noah kissing me. /he shudders/ How will I get girls if guys are kissing me?
/Izzy knocks on the outside of the outhouse/- Don't worry, Code, if I wasn't into someone else, I'd be all over you like a cobra squeezing their prey.
Cody- /eyes wide/ Uh… thanks, Izzy.
Everyone stood with a marshmallow except Noah and Izzy. Noah had a confident smirk once more. Just like last time when he was in the bottom two. Izzy just sat uncaring.
"And the final marshmallow of the night goes to…"

"Izzy."
No one complained this time and Noah looked annoyed for a moment before shrugging and leaving with a "whatever" as he departed. "Y'all just lost the brains of the team!"
"We don't give a fuck!" Sophia called. They all headed back to the cabin.
"Guys, we gotta start winning. We're down to eight members and the Bass have eleven," Cody said.
"Yeah," Camilo sighed but then straightened up and pumped his fist. "We've got this!" He then hurried up to Owen and Justin as they entered the boys' side.
"What an enthusiast," Sophia said, shaking her head and smiling before turning to the Tech Geek beside her. "G'night."
"Nite."
They exchanged a fist bump and parted ways.
(Voting Confessional)
Cody- Ya know what, I'm just gonna say it. Noah. That dude's pissing me off! And I don't usually get pissed off. He's ruining the vibe.
Gwen- Noah, and he better be gone this time.
Heather- Sorry, Noah, but the alliance will be fine without you. If only Camilo would use his brain and join us… /she sighs/
Izzy- Noah. Too bad Cody's boyfriend's gonna be gone.
Justin- Noah. We don't need that cynical smart-ass in the alliance! /He sniffs arrogantly/ Besides I can play with brains. I planted a curse on Harold and his team, after all.
Noah- Cody. He's kind of annoying. And I still remember the Awakeathon! /he shudders/ Sorry, Tyler. /he smirks/ Or is it Gwen he's seeing?
Owen- Noah, sorry little buddy! I'll miss you!
Sophia- Noah.
Camilo- See ya, buddy.
Noah- 8
Cody- 1
