Above Asgard
The gods from both Greek and Norse all had beads of sweat dripping down their brows. Holding one reakm was something but two entire realms required so much strength and focus that even the slightest mistakes could spell disaster for all of Asgard.
"I...do hope the girls...manage to find who is responsible for this," Odin gritted his teeth. Furious at who would dare try to destroy his home and people, yet at the same time determined to stop it with all the power he's gained from his millennium of life.
"Have faith husband," Frejya did her best to comfort him despite not being able to move. "Our granddaughter along with the others will do what they can."
"I do hope so as well, until then we must hold on with all our might," Hera sweated almost as much as Odin with some of her make up even running down her chin.
"I'm afraid that will not be Happ much longer."
Everyone looked in the direction of Einar in his flying construct. Confusion wrapped their minds as to why he was even here as the warrior was supposed to be looking for Magni and Modi.
"Einar!?" Baldur had a bit of gleam of hope in his eyes. "Your back already? You've must've found Magni and Modi quickly then I thought."
Einar didn't respond to him, in fact his attention was more focused on Odin himself. His eyes narrowed with what could be described as rage that was about to spill out any second.
"Fitting for you to be in this position All-Father," He said with words that could be like venom in his voice. "No," He shook his head pointing his blade at him. " Murderer who's justice has long since been overdue."
Odin looked even more confused as he'd never heard Einar speak this way before. "What are you talking about?"
"You know damn well what I mean! You and your family, especially that bastard Thor, slayers of the Jotunn for generations."
Everyone knew of how the giants of Norse mythology were treated, especially with the Jotunn from Musphelhiem who were looked at with fear that they would be the causing start of Ragnarok.
"Consider this what mortals would call "An eye for an eye, a life for a life," Einar looked at Odin without any fear.
"Y-You," Athena knew instantly what was going on. "You are the cause of this madness, for one man that will lead to others suffering."
Everyone looked at the enraged warrior, his facial expression was all they needed to know he was behind this.
"You would bring ruin to Asgard, to your home, over past mistakes!?" Tyr asked, no, he demanded an answer even though he was in no position to do so.
"Home that was built on the ruins of the original giant, how a man of honor like you to follow a mass murderer is beyond me," Einar retorted back.
"Einar," Odin furrowed his brows. "It is true what happened in the past was terrible. But you dare to threaten the lives of those who were not responsible?"
"By doing that how will you be any better? Do you not favor peace?" Frejya asked.
"I will bring justice. I will burn this realm to the ground. And from its ashes a new order must be taken in its place." He turns his head away from them. "And that way my beloved Hidde will have justice, and be back by my side."
Sif eyes widened, she could recall that name and who it belonged to. "Do you really think this is what she would have wanted?" She asked with a sad tone to her voice.
That one sentence made Einar turn his head quickly and yell. "DO NOT SPEAK OF WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED!" He gripped his blade so tightly he would most likely get blisters. "You could not care what she would have wanted, her clan, driven out because of your damned All-Father!"
Hera wanted to say something but knew words were cheap. At best it would only anger him even further than he already is. Athena and her didn't know the full story of what happened but could see in the warriors eyes it still pained him even to this day.
"All that changes today," He raised his sword ready to make the killing blow on Odin. "It pains me that the Greek goddesses had to side with a murderer but that mistake sealed your fate, go..."
"EINAR!!!!"
Just before he could Odin's life the shouting of Leon stopped his movement. He looked below, eyes widened in shock that the boy who was supposed to be captured by the exorcist Freed was coming right at him. Even more to his shock the sister Jotunn's were flying up right beside Leon.
"How did, Ugh!!!"
Both him and his flying construct had no way to stop all three as they were tackled out of the air and began to fall to the ground. Every last god was taken back from what just happened.
"Leon!?" Hera was stunned seeing the boy she resurrected come out of nowhere and stop Einar from killing her friend's husband.
"I don't know how Leon got back here," Athena answered. "But I'm glad he's alright. All we can do is hope he and the girls stop this madness."
Asgard cities
Bennia led the way trying to sense powerful magic energy wherever it was coming from. Rossweisse, Achillia, and Hecuba followed behind, all the while carrying her captor over her shoulders like a bag. All the while they cleaved through hordes of enemies he still refused to talk but Hecuba knew he would eventually as their plans would come crashing down and he'd have to answer for his crimes.
Bennia looked around squinting her eyes, it was faint but she could feel something not too far off. Even though being a reaper she and her kind had an affinity to sense magical energies almost better than most. "I can feel we're getting close. Don't suppose the robe boy wants to start talking now?"
"He's still being stubbornly silent," Hecuba looked at him with an annoyed expression.
"We will worry about that later," Achillia responded.
"I don't envy him when Odin gets a hold of him and his buddies."
Bennia kept moving through every corner until finally she made a complete stop in front of what appeared to be a restaurant. It had been completely abandoned ever since the attack started and people left to fight the horde. "Think I got something. I can feel some energy coming from the floor."
"Stay behind me just in case," Achillia got in front of the door and kicked it open in one strike. Readying her weapon in case anyone pops out she looks around. "All clear here. Guess they are under a bunker just like you thought Hecuba."
"And where there is a bunker there will be more of those people keeping that portal open," Hecuba walked in looking around for the bunker door.
"Bingo," Bennia floated over to the back room. Her sights shifted to a large shelf in the corner of the room, where she could feel magical energy. "If I had to guess..." The reaper fiddled around with every item until one that should have fallen on the floor instead pulled forward then back. It was a secret switch that opened the door to the bunker below. "There we go! Just like in the movies you always gotta find that hidden switch."
"Very concerning this was here all along." Rossweisse made sure to make a mental note to tell Odin and Frejya about this.
Everyone walked down into the bunker slowly, they needed to make sure there were no traps but to their surprise there seemed to be none. It seemed they hadn't anticipated anyone discovering their secret room.
Achillia held her hands up to stop everyone which all three did. There were sounds coming from around the corner, she could make out they were the sounds of man shouting which no doubt had to be the culprits of this.
"Keep those rune spells active! Einar needs more time to hold that All-Father in place and make the killing blow." The sound of magic and the crackle of electricity echoed throughout the room. "We may have lost the others but this operation will not fail."
Rossweisse's face retorted in anger at what he just said. Looking at Achillia she couldn't blame the Valkyrie and gave the signal to make their appearance known.
"Your operation ends today!" Rossweisse walked out of cover holding both hands up ready to fire her runic magic.
Everyone looked surprised at the Valkyrie standing just a few meters away from them. None more surprised than the man who'd gotten away from Hecuba. The Spartans eyes met with a look that could only be described as "Did you really think you'd get away from me so easily?"
"How did they find this place!?" One mage said at a loss for words. It was to be expected from him and the others who'd thought their secret bunker was hidden from Asgard.
"You idiots! Stop them, stop them!" The bearded mage point his fingers on command. Him and the others held their hands up firing blast after blast.
Rossweisse wasted no time using a runic shield to block them. Bennia used this moment to open a portal under two of the mages. They felt themselves falling from high above but that was because the mischievous reaper had them simply fall from the ceiling and back into the ground. They both groaned in pain from falling straight on their backside and were unable at the moment to fight back. It was then Achillia's turn as she dashed forward easily swatting away any magic blast that came her way. Like the mages Hecuba faced these as well we're not adapted to fighting in close combat. The Spartan easily knocked them away with the end of her family spear, a quick yet strong blow to the head was all that was needed to put both out of commission.
Only two remained, the bearded mage and one lone female mage. They knew there was no way to beat highly skilled fighters of this callibur.
"Surrender and tell us how many more of you are there," Rossweisse said in a serious tone that made bennia shiver a bit.
Glad our Valkyrie friend is on our side
"Damn you...," The man said before holding out his hand. Hecuba knew this is what he did to flee like last time.
"He's about to get away, grab him!" She yelled.
Bennia did what she could to close the gap between her target but unfortunately he teleported away just in the nick of time. Before he completely vanished he grabbed the girl by the shoulder, pulling back aggressively and both disappeared. "Dammit!" Bennia yelled out. She skirted on the ground before slamming against the wall. "He's a quick fella I'll admit."
"He didn't look to be backed in a corner, there's no doubt he's somewhere else in the city." Rossweisse using her intellect deduced that him and whoever else was still here. The hole in the sky more than confirmed that as well.
"Hey what is that?" A shiny red gem caught the attention of Achillia. She then walked over and picked it up, the size was able to fit right in the Palm of the Spartans hands. It seemed to pulsate slowly, almost as if it was a heart beating as any heart would.
"Looks like magey left in a hurry and forgot his precious item." Bennia said but was awed at how shiny it looked.
Hecuba nodded in agreement. "Whatever it is this thing has to have some value to them. C'mon we need to keep looking."
Just as they all left up out of the bunker the red gems shine and pulse began to die down. "What the?" Achillia looked it over wondering if it was powering down.
"Just maybe...," Rossweisse thought and then snapped her fingers. "What if it's some kind of tracker? If so we can use it to easily locate their hiding spots!"
"We won't know until we test it out. let's go see," Hecuba said as all four raced across the city once more.
Somewhere in another bunker
"The portal is weakening!" A mage standing with others around the magic circle yelled out. Even though his face was covered beads of sweat from the stress started to take a toll.
Another mage looked with worry at how much power was needed just to keep the portal from closing completely. "Master said they'd be too distracted to search for our secret bunkers. Yet, we have lost two of the summoning circles. If this keeps up..."
Her sentence was cut off from the man who they called the master appeared with the other mage he took to not be captured like the rest. Though he was to be the leader to keep everyone in check things were falling apart fast.
"How much magic do you all have left!?"He rushed over to the last group.
"We barely have enough to last half an hour. After that the portal cannot remain open."
What is that damn viking fool doing!? He knows the portal can stay open for only so long
As the leader kept pondering what to do he pulled out a blue gem that glowed from its shiny surface. Along was the beats it made that seemed similar to a heart beat. This gem was something to help communicate with other members from the other underground bunkers. Suddenly, his face turned into confusion. Then turns into one of panicking. "What the...where is..." Unbeknownst to his hurry of getting away from the enemy he accidentally dropped the red gem that was used for communication just like the red one. His heart sank, he knew that if those women that were chasing him got a hold of it they could easily find them as the two gems were designed to glow even brighter next to one another. One didn't have to think too hard about how the situation was not one hundred percent in every mage's favor.
Suddenly everyone around the circle turned their heads to another summoning circle being formed on the wall. Walking through with both hands behind his back, smirking as is all this was just another day in Asgard, was the god of mischief Loki himself. Some of the mages had smiles on their face, it was the look of seeing a savior coming to the rescue. The leader looked more than ecstatic to the half Jotunn god. "Loki! We were wondering when you would arrive."
Loki did not say anything to him or anyone else. Walking towards the circle he seemed to be admiring the work everyone put into keeping the portal open.
"We do not have much time. Einar is taking too long to finish off Odin and the rest. I fear we have but less than thirty minutes be..." His words stopped halfway through the sentence, a sharp pain was felt from his chest. It felt cold, it was not because so much blood was leaking on the floor but from a long icicle piercing his chest from front to begin by Loki himself. "L-Loki...what is...the meaning...of this?"
Every mage looked horrified at this sudden attack out of nowhere, many backed off not knowing if he or she was next.
"You did good, all of you. This little experiment proved to be more useful than I thought. As of now you're no longer needed." Loki said with a smirk before breaking the ice and letting their leaders lifeless body fall to the floor. "Now then." He turns towards the other horrified mages. "Time to clean up this mess wouldn't you say?"
Asgard colosseum rooftop
Falling from the sky and crashing onto the ground was Einar with Leon, Menja, and Fenja. All three held onto his arms so he couldn't move a muscle. When they crashed down Einar's armor to the brunt of the fall though still managed to knock the wind out of him. The other three let go, rolled on the ground, and got on one knee catching their balance.
"H-How...," Einar rubbed his head trying to regain composure. "You shouldn't be here. And you two!?"
"Didn't think you'd see us again so soon huh bastard?" Menja stood up cracking her knuckles.
"You won't be getting away with this Einar," Fenja glared at him, still holding the anger of her and her sister being used against their will.
Leon stood beside the two women, he wanted answers but at the same time he knew that in order to stop this invasion Einar himself needed to be stopped.
"Why Einar? You were a warrior who was respected for his strength and kindness. Why would you do all this?" Leon demanded answers.
"It was nothing personal." He looked at Leon. "The gods of Asgard, no, this whole realm needs to pay for its crimes."
Leon looked at him confused by his words. This was the first time he'd heard Einar say such words with venom. "What crime are you talking about? What did all of Asgard do to cause all of this!?"
The warrior gripped his sword tightly, memories from long ago that still haunted him to this day.
"The death of giants. How the realm goes as far as to fear them over a prophecy to the point many were killed for it!" He soon breathed through his nose and exhaled trying to calm his rage.
Fenja and Menja were slightly taken back by the choice of his actions. All this because of how asgard has treated the Jotunn.
"Even though what they did in the past was terrible, that is in the past." Fenja said with conviction.
Einar glared at all three. "If they killed someone you loved, someone who made life worth living, someone who granted happiness no others could, would you be so gracious to let the past go unanswered?"
Leon didn't know how to fully answer that. In fact the Jotunn sisters didn't know how to either. He said it not with just hatred but conviction as well that they knew something happened for the warrior to go this destructive path.
"What happened that made you decide to do all of this Einar?" Leon asked with a soft tone.
He looked down for second contemplating whether to answer that question. Instead, he shook his head and readied his weapon. "That is past that I will hold dear to me Leon. Knowing this, I will make all of Asgard pay and I will bring back my love. But for that to happen you, all three of you who are a threat, must be gotten rid of."
"As if we'll let you do such a thing. Fenja!"
Menja looked towards her sister who in turn looked to her with a nod. Both women held out their hands, weapons that seemed almost magical in nature appeared. In both of Menja's hands appeared axes covered in ice of the frost Joutnn. Fenja's weapon was a large battle axe practically the same height as herself yet she wielded it as if it were as light as paper. Leon summoned phyra's blade knowing there wasn't much energy left to sustain it for long.
Einar unsheathed his weapon and got into position ready for all three to come at him.
"Menja, Fenja, I'll charge at him from the front while you get his blind spots."
"I'd prefer a full on charge but me and my sister are not yet at full strength so we'll do it your way Leon." Menja said with a smirk and nod.
"Ready whenever you are." Fenja gripped her battle axe ready to charge forward.
On cue all three ran forward towards Einar, he himself did not move from his spot. Both sisters split off from Leon while he himself swung his blade at him. Einar stood firm just barely moving back as if the attack was being thrown by a novice. Leon could feel it was almost like he had hit a wall but this plan was how he wanted it to go. Menja coming at his left brought down both her axes to which the warrior blocked with his shield. He grunted which was to be expected from the force of the impact from a Jotunn, what he also felt was the cold coming off from her weapon. Fenja on his right jumped up with her battle axe over her head ready for a powerful swing.
"Tch!" Einar cursed under his breath knowing getting hit with that would be fatal. Using the moment of his body he lunged backwards rolling on the ground away from all three. The force of Fenja's weapon broke the ground underneath kicking up debris in the air which obscured his vision.
He didn't have to wait long from the magic shots being fired at him to which he brought up his shield to block. It was shown Leon had fired them and wasn't letting up. Fenja rushed to Einar this time on the ground as if she were a juggernaut.
"I don't think so...what!?" Einar looked down to see one of his feet was frozen stuck to the ground from ice.
Menja had both her axes on the ground, ice was shown to have moved all the way towards his feet keeping one of them in place. Unable to move all Einar could do was brace for impact as Fenja threw her battle-axe at his shield he'd put up. The force was enough to knock him loose yet the massive dent it left on his shield looked almost unfixable.
"Damn you!" He rolled on the ground and slammed against the wall. He wasn't about to go down yet but had to stay on the defense as Leon was seen overheard thrusting his blade down onto him. Blocking it with a blade he clearly didn't have the strength he had before from the hit he took from Fenja.
"Stand down Einar!" Leon pushed his blade on his closer and closer, phyra's blade shining in the process. "It's not too late!"
"There's no turning back Leon, not after all this..." Einar from the right corner of his eyes noticed Menja's ice coming towards him. In that moment he shield bashed Leon back get up and move.
"Oh no you don't!" Menja coming from right behind Leon swung her axes at him.
As he blocked with his shield it became coated with ice more and more. Suddenly the ice Jotunn doubled back which confused him but soon found out why.
"Haaaaah!" Fenja rushed past her sister, her weapon on the ground breaking it apart. Her powerful swing with two hands ready to slash Einar, but that did not happen as what she did was simply kick up debris that hit him right in the face.
"Damn you...!?!"
Einar felt the wind knocked out of his lungs, while he couldn't see Leon took this distraction Fenja made for him to use his shield to bash him right in the chest. With a weapon made by the gods the power behind it Einar knew how it felt now. He fell down to his knees trying to catch his breath while clutching his chest.
"No...I've...come to...far...to be...beaten!"
All three surrounded Einar, Menja and Fenja pointing their weapons ready for him to try something else.
"It's over Einar, stay down I don't wanna kill you," Leon, despite the betrayal Einar did to him and his friends, didn't want to take his life. The idea of killing him was something of an ugly business he felt shouldn't be used so easily.
"I'd listen to him, you're in no position to be facing a three on one battle," Fenja said with disdain in her voice.
"Fool, all of you...," Einar on one knee looked at them all. "If you really think this is all I have..."
They looked at him as if he was mad, or gone mad now which they wouldn't be surprised. Suddenly Einar forcefully ripped off his right arm armor and what was on it looked like a tattoo of a serpent symbol on the palm of his hand.
"I didn't think I needed to use this other than on Odin if something went wrong, but you've left me with no choice."
"What are you talking about?" Fenja raised an eyebrow but that facial expression soon turned into shock. In a split second Einar dashed right on front of her and knees the Jotunn in the stomach. She feels back in pain holding her stomach, coughing to catch her breath. "Ack..." She falls onto her back holding, holding the abdomen.
Leon and Menja looked shocked, even a bit worried how someone who was just on the ropes now seems to have the advantage.
"The fight," Einar turned to look at them both, "Is far from over."
Asgard City
The girls, after moving there was through the horde of constructs, finally made their way to a warehouse. Bennia sensed a strong magic in the building along with the red gem that shook, and just like with the other area they got into position. The young reaper used a portal to peak inside and saw there was no.
"I don't see anyone, maybe they're underground as well?" Bennia pulled her head back in just in case.
"I wouldn't be surprised," Rossweisse added. "They're definitely staying out of sight to make sure none of us see them. We need to be extra cautious of we're gonna capture them."
Achillia nodded. "I agree we can't let them get away this time. The moment we see them we...huh?"
The red gems light in the Spartans hands suddenly began to glow less and less until finally it went out.
"What's going on did it lose power?" Hecuba looked it over.
Bennia grabbed it, even shaking it a bit but there was nothing. "Stupid thing must be b...look out!"
Suddenly the front door to the warehouse burst open, a figure flying out hit the ground.
"Is that...," Rossweisse and the others saw this person was robbed just like the captive Hecuba held. Difference was this person, on closer look who was a man, lie dead on the pavement.
"Ah I did not see you girls there, do hope you are all unharmed."
Everyone turned to see none other than Loki with his hands behind and head held high as if all was good.
"Lord Loki!" Rossweisse quickly bowed to him. "I did not expect to see you here but your powers will most definitely be welcomed."
Loki chuckled ushering the Valkyrie to stand up. "Yes indeed the situation is bad, however these people who dare to try and destroy Asgard will not succeed. I've made sure of it, especially dealing with their last hold out in this warehouse."
The god told them how he found the magic circle and dealt with everyone inside. He would've taken them alive but saw how bad it'd gotten and took no chances. Suddenly the captive Hecuba held screamed out in pain, electricity sparked around his head until finally he passed out.
"What in Tartarus name!?" Hecuba looked him over, he was still breathing but was unconscious. "He's still alive, he'll need to be put into medic care."
"More than likely this was a last attempt from these people," Loki got the attention of everyone. "Their plan has all but failed, anyone still alive they'd no doubt make sure wouldn't talk of how they orchestrated this."
"Damn them..." Rossweisse clenches her fist in frustration that they wouldn't get answers as to why this had happened.
"Baby steps Rossweisse, well find out eventually. For now we need to help clean this mess up," Achillia looks all around at the destruction, it could be rebuilt by things that would definitely change.
High above Asgard
The gods were sweating profusely trying to keep both Musphielhiem and Heilhiem from collapsing onto asgard from the portal.
You girls must hurry, we can only hold this for so long before our bodies finally give out... Athena thought as her muscles were so sore they screamed to stop and rest.
Tyr, having one arm, seemed to be struggling the most just trying to keep up. "I do hope your people find and close this portal. I fear if they do not..."
"Have faith in them Tyr," Frejya reassured. "We will survive this and make sure everyone who dared to threaten Asgard be punished.
"Haha... that's my... lovely Frigg for you..," Odin despite feeling winded, kept a smile for everyone especially his wife. His wife didn't want him to talk with how much strength he needed to keep the barrier up but his stubbornness wouldn't allow it. "Always seeing...the good...even in serious... situations."
"Hush dear husband. Save your strength, we need it to save our realm, our home."
Despite how Odin acted from time to time that irritated Frejya, Hera could at least acknowledge the love he had for his wife, children, and all of Asgard. She herself worried if she'd get back home alive, if only Zeus and the other gods were here maybe they would have so much more strength they'd be able to close the portal.
Suddenly as if the prays for this madness to end was answered the portal suddenly began to shrink. The very weight of both realms that threatened to destroy all of the realm of Asgard finally began to dissipate slowly until finally it was gone.
"The portal! It closes!" Baldur said with excitement.
"They did it...," Hera smiled finally able to let her hands down, half exhausted from using so much power.
"Odin!" Frejya flew over to Odin holding him so he did not fall to the ground.
"I am fine Frejya. I'll need to rest, along with a week of mead." His comment would've gotten a smack over the head but just this once his wife simply laughed.
"My Queen Hera," Athena said but did not look at Hera. "My eyes must be deceiving me or I'm seeing an alpha hydra."
Hera was at first puzzled, if Athena was playing a joke on her it would help to lighten the mood but upon looking where she looked she'd see the alpha hydra battling on of the large constructs.
"What in the name of Hades...," Hera was about to take charge despite how winded she was but Athena held an arm out.
"Go to Leon and the Jotunns, he will need you. I can take care of this." Athena flew down before anyone could protest.
"She has confidence but I heard how deadly a hydra is, she may need help."
Tyr suggested but Hera stopped him with a smirk. "You are too kind Tyr but do not worry for she will be able to handle it."
Asgard City
Almost half the landscape was reduced to ruble. The constructs, while having done most of the damage, was nowhere compared to the collosal battle between the alpha hydra and the multi armed construct. While it's limbs were enough to keep the beast heads at bay it's sheer size and long body gave it incredible reach to all areas.
Both stared each other down, there fight leaving many scars on the body. For the construct though it wasn't held back by flesh like his foe, it could move as if it had infinite stamina. The alpha Hydra while very powerful would eventually tire out though it looked to still be able to fight.
Finally the four armed construct started to charge, the hydra staying in it's place baring it's fangs. Suddenly something slammed right down on top of the construct as if it a meteor fell right on top of it. The Hydra was confused looking at the massive debris in the air obscuring it's foe.
At last what would almost feel like an eternity the very head of the construct came flying and tumbled on the ground right in front of the legendary beast.
"I know not how you arrived in asgard beast." Athena came walking out revealing herself. "But your time causing havoc ends with me."
The alpha hydra showed no fear and belowed a loud roar before charging at her. Athena charged as well ready to take it down all on her own.
Asgard Colosseum rooftop
The fight that was once in the three's favor now turned against them. The strange symbol on his hand somehow not only allowed Einar to fully recover but also seemed to enhance his strength.
Menja on one knee breathed heavily, every time she tried to strike him down he perfectly countered. He would've used his shield but felt it was far to damaged to any real damage, still he did not falter as when he had enough of blocking her axes Einar slashed down on her leg. Knowing she had a moment of being slowed he shield bashed her away, the weapon cracking but if he had used it to block her weapon it'd surely crack.
Fenja angered by seeing her sister hurt rushed at Einar, her large reaching swings slashed the ground which cracked the entire area. With a bland look on his face Einar easily side stepped her swing, it was as if his perception had increased along with his speed and power. This time instead of using the front end of the blade he decided to use the pommel to hit her right on the face, instantly her nose bleed as she fell back hard on the ground.
Leon wasn't going to standby and let him do this, he, and Phyra, tried to see any openings in his movements but the speed was so fast the eye couldn't keep up with his movements. Leon charged forward, phyra blade clashed with his yet Einar stood like a statue.
"I will admit this Leon. You're a warrior with a lot of potential, able to work well in a team even, it is a shame it will have to end this way." Thrusting his blade up, nearly throwing phyra's blade out of Leon's hands, he knees the young man in the stomach. The force was so strong it sent Leon flying towards the wall.
"Ugh..." Leon felt as if a large object struck. The pain was so strong he couldn't move and simply fell to the ground. "I...I...!?" Slowly looking up he noticed phyra blade disappeared back into his sacred gear, he barely had enough strength to summon it back, let alone his hydra blade.
"Leon...," Fenja gripped the ground gritting her teeth trying to force herself to get up. "You bastard!" As if using the last of her strength she rushed at Einar with all of her might.
Einar didn't move from his spot, in fact he didn't bother to even look at the Jotunn. "You should know when to stay down." Before her battle axe could swing down right on his head he grabbed it with one hand shocking Fenja. Before she could even retaliate he kicked her away, her weapon fell to the ground just as she did.
"Fenja!" Menja could barely walk, the gash in her leg became a handicap for her.
"I said it just as when this started didn't I? I will not be denied my reve...," His monologue was cut short from a magic blast hitting him from behind. As he turned around he saw Leon, one hand outstretched while the other was holding a silver blade. "Leon, you really think you can beat me with a blade that lacks any power?"
"I...said...I wasn't... going to let...you get away...with this...," Leon only had enough energy to summon the regular blade, whether it be by determination or sheer desperation he wasn't going to back down so easily, not after everything he's been through up until this point.
Einar's expression changed from one anger to that of pity, he could respect Leon's will to keep going. "You have my sympathies Leon Alexander. I would not see you suffer like, and so." He began to charge forward, his blade thrusting forward. "I will make it quick and painless!"
This feeling almost felt just like the trial by combat, Leon's back against the wall with only his will to keep him going. Only except this time there wasn't anything he could pull out to save himself. Phyra in his mind desperately tried to summon more strength to Leon but there wasn't anything she could do, with her in a way being connected to phyra's blade she was at her limit to how much power she could muster.
LEON!!!! Phyra screamed out as if she were behind a see through wall unable to do anything but watch. Tears streaming down her face in hopelessness, cursing her inability to do anything.
Leon braced for the worst, his eyes closed and barely able to hold up his blade. He waited for the incoming blow to piece him through, it felt like it would happen in a split second. Yet, he felt nothing. Seconds passed and he still felt nothing, he wondered if he'd had done something to turn the tides, those thoughts where quickly vanished from the sound of yelling.
"MENJA!!!!!"
Opening his eyes to the scream of Fenja who was looked at not him but her sister. Soon his expression became one of shock and dispalief. Menja, the frost Jotunn that in a way acted like a big sister to Fenja, stood in between Leon and Einar. She had shielded the strike with her own body, the blade passed right through her abdomen, blood all around it as well.
Menja had a determined expression on her face, she didn't care about the immense pain on she felt or how much blood she was loosing. Instead the frost Jotunn turned her head to look at Leon and smiled. "Thank goodness...I stopped him...just in time..." After that blood escaped from her mouth.
Einar himself was taken back by the sheer will of sacrifice Menja made. Part of him hoped it wouldn't have come to this and yet, "Sacrificing yourself like this, if you had only listened to me you'd not be in this position Frost Jotunn."
"Einar...," The sound of Leon was heard behind, it was not one of shock or hopelessness, but that of anger. "How...could you..."
Suddenly his silver blade began to glow a light blue which caught everyone's attention. The reason was clear as day for Phyra, the blood from Menja had dropped down onto it, the weapon itself was transforming.
"EINAR!!!!" Leon cried out before gripping his blade tightly and slammed it into the ground.
"What in the name of...," Einar didn't get the chance to finish that sentence. Before he could move multiple shards of icicles stabbed him from below.
Leon's blade, now powered up from the blood of Menja, had transformed. It's the appearance of a mixture of blue and silver on the metal part. what really stood out was the ice shards that pointed from the hilt, the look seemed like something an ice Joutnn would use. The power of ice that could not be so easily melted stabbed right through both of Einar's shoulders, the very force was enough to throw him back a few meters away.
Menja finally collapsed after so much blood loss she couldn't stand up straight. Luckily Leon was there to catch her just in time with his attention not onto her. "Menja you're gonna be okay!" He did what he could to try and stop the bleeding. Fenja even came by her sister's side despite how injured she was.
"Menja! Menja look at me don't close your eyes dammit!" Fenja held her sister's cheeks just gently shaking them to keep her awake.
"I...I don't think...I'll be making it... out of this one Fenja...," Fenja didn't want to hear that, to hear here sister was close to death's door, especially after they'd just recently awoken.
"No! We're going to be together, we've made it through in the past and we can again!" Fenja held her hands even when stained with blood.
Menja simply chuckled, she raised one of her hands onto Fenja placing it onto her head. "Fenja. You've always been strong. You'll...make it through this...I know you can..."
Fenja held onto her hands tightly, tears streaming down her face. She wanted to believe this was all a bad dream and they'd wake up and everything would be back to normal.
"Leon..." Menja now looked at him still smiling. "Take good...care of her... I've seen...how capable you are, how your friends...look at you with warmth.."
Her words caused Leon to cry as well, he cursed himself for not being strong enough to keep this from happening. Even if they'd just met he could tell she was a caring person, perhaps it was his grandfather that showed him to try and see the best in people.
"Be strong...Fenja...for me please..." With those last words Menja's hand slowly fell off the top of Fenja's head, her eyes slowly closing yet still smiles to the end.
"Fenja...," She hugged her now deceased sister, she didn't care how loud she cried, at the moment she didn't even care about what Einar did she simply felt great pain at the loss of her sister.
Einar who was still alive lifted his head up, trying to use his arms only caused agonizing pain but he wasn't going to give up yet knew fighting in this sorry state was suicide.
"L-Leon...," Leon looked at him with a furrowed brow. "This fight...is far...from over. Your world...and this...will face...destruction. The twilight...of the gods..."
Before Leon could respond Einar held up his hand, the symbol that was a serpent now is replaced by what looked to be a runic symbol. As it glowed the bifrost opened up taking Einar away from Asgard.
"How did...,"
"Leon!" The shouting of Hera stopped his thinking, she landed right next to him and hugged him. "Are you alright? Where did Einar go?"
"H-He used the bifrost and escaped. I don't know where."
"He did what!?" Frejya along with the other gods who landed beside Hera spoke. "How could he have...who is...,"
"Menja!" Rossweisse answered that question for her. Thanks to Loki her and everyone else arrived. Glad to see Leon alive yet seeing the body of Menja they knew the outcome of this fight.
Leon told them what happened, the symbol on Einar's hands, along with the new blade he acquired though he did not speak fondly of how it was acquired, Achillia and Hera could see that much.
"Menja's sacrifice will not be forgotten," Odin knelt down in front of Fenja even knowing those words wouldn't heal the wound on her heart. "I swear on my name Einar will pay for this."
Fenja looked at him, still with tears in her eyes yet nodded her head. "Good."
Leon felt he could breathe a sigh of relief the battle seemed to be over. Yet out of the corner of his eyes he saw the robbed woman who had saved him along with the others from the cavern.
Let both theirs and your world's fall to ruin and ashes
Your world and this will face destruction
Both words for some reason clicked in his head, they had the same ring too it. Then his eyes widened, he had a sinking feeling of what both that mysterious woman and Einar were talking about.
"Everyone!" Leon got the attention of everyone around. "We have to return to Olympus immediately!"
The portal has been closed, the perpetrators have been dealt with, and Einar's plan to kill Odin and destroy Asgard has been stopped. Yet the fight was far from over, Leon now suspects what the two meant was Olympus where he calls home. Can he make it back to save it? More to come in the next chapter.
