A/N: I'm skipping the Key of the Starry Heavens Arc, because that was just a filler.
Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Fairy Tail, I only own my OC's.
CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN: AND SO, WE AIM FOR THE TOP!
With the Infinity Clock destroyed and the Reborn Oracion Seis defeated, Fairy Tail begins celebrating. Legion Corps joins in on their fun, but return to Zentopia Church afterwards. Later on, Gildarts is informed about the Lumen Histoire by Master Makarov.
Fairy Tail's Team Tenrou learn about a new tournament in Fiore that challenges the overall strength of a Guild. Fairy Tail holds the title of weakest while a formally unknown reigns at the top: Sabertooth.
At the guild, Master Makarov proclaims that Gildarts will be the next master, but Gildarts has left a letter which says he will leave and only has two wishes as a master.
Outside...
Happy was napping on a tree stump. "Hey, Happy!" Natsu shrieked, waking Happy up.
"Fish?!" He exclaimed before looking at Natsu. "Oh, just Natsu..."
"Don't give me 'just Natsu'!" Natsu said.
"What are you mad about?" Happy questioned. "At any rate, dream or not, all those fish were there for the taking... I was shocked..."
Happy went back to sleep. "Hey!" Natsu shouted again in irritation.
"What is it you want?!" Happy asked.
Natsu pointed at him. "You're my partner, aren't you?!"
"Yeah, that's right." Happy replied.
"And right now, I'm cleaning the backyard. Like this..."
"Well, sure. It's your turn!"
"If it's my turn, why isn't my partner helpin' me?! It doesn't make sense, right?!" Natsu argued.
Natsu and Happy continued to bicker. "How incredibly trivial..." Lucy commented.
"No different than usual though..." Carla pointed out as Wendy lets out a nervous laugh.
"That's different than this. After all, it's not my turn today." Happy said.
"Happy, when did you turn so cold?!" Natsu questioned in disbelief.
"I'm not cold!" Happy replied. "Look, it's a beautiful day, isn't it? The sun is pleasantly warm..."
Aira soon walked up to them. "Why are you two arguing over nonsense? At least clean up without bitching about it!"
"What's that, Aira?! I never said I had beef with cleaning! Happy's the one..." Natsu began.
Happy went over to Carla. "Isn't it a beautiful day, Carla?"
"It is, yes." Carla replied.
"Listen when a guy's talkin' to you!" Natsu yelled.
"Yeesh. Even after seven years, you haven't changed a bit, Natsu." Max commented.
"That's right! That's what I tell him, just about every day!" Happy agreed.
"What's that, Max?! Are you sayin' you changed?!" Natsu asked.
"Well, I feel as young as ever, anyway..." Max answered.
"Just because you 'feel' young, does that make you young?" Aira questioned.
"And if we're talking ability, it's improved by leaps and bounds." Max added.
"That's what I like to hear! How 'bout we rumble?!" Natsu suggested, throwing the broom somewhere.
"Sure, why not?" Max accepted.
"Wait, why is this necessary?" Lucy asked.
"Go for it! This is a perfect way to kill time after lunch." Aira encouraged.
"Alright! I'm fired up!" Natsu exclaimed.
"Come on, then!" Max challenged as Natsu rushed forward.
He aimed a flame-covered fist at Max who dodged and sent a kick towards his stomach before sending sand his way, knocking him back.
"S-Seriously?!" Natsu said.
"It's not like we weren't doing anything for seven years. I trained in my own way." Max explained.
"Natsu-san..." Wendy muttered.
"...is losing to Max?!" Lucy finished.
"Let's try this again!" Natsu exclaimed, charging forward again. He tried to attack Max who continued to dodge.
"Sand Rebellion!" Max called out, attacking Natsu with a massive wave of sand.
"Burn!" Natsu shouted as Lucy, Wendy, Happy, and Carla coughed due to the sand.
"Hey!"
"Natsu, hang in there!" Happy cheered.
"You two were just fighting!" Carla reminded him.
Happy spun around. "That's different than this!"
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu shouted.
"Sand Wall!" Max puts up a sand wall to protect himself, causing Natsu to hit it instead.
"This isn't seven years ago!" Max informed.
"Unbelievable! Max..."
"...has Natsu on the ropes?!"
"Then maybe we have a chance against Natsu, too?!"
Flames and lightning soon surrounded Natsu. "Lightning Flame Dragon Mode!"
"No way!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Wha...?! What is that?!" Max questioned.
"Lightning Flame Dragon's Roar!" Natsu released a breath attack of flames and lightning as Max barely dodged.
"Ai-yi-yi..." Happy commented.
"Dammit! I'm not as powerful as I was then..." Natsu said.
"Since when can you do that?" Lucy asked.
"Now." Natsu answered.
"Wow." Wendy said.
Max held out his hand in surrender. "I-I lose. I give up. If that had hit me, I'd be toast!"
"Who's next?!" Natsu challenged.
"He really is strong!"
"A monster!"
Natsu laughed in victory before collapsing. "That must've burned through a lot of his power." Lucy said.
"Natsu, I think you better not use that one in a real battle." Happy stated.
"But you were great, too, Max-san!" Wendy praised.
"I don't need to be flattered, Wendy." Max told her.
"But if you're that powerful, Ogre shouldn't have been able to walk all over you." Carla said.
"You may be right..."
"...but it had more to do with money..."
"It wasn't a problem we could solve through force, you know?"
"Although that's exactly what Master and the others did..." Lucy reminded them.
"Good point..." Max agreed.
"Still, the problem is more serious than I thought." Aira said, sitting on top of a ledge of a small hill.
"What do you mean?" Lucy questioned, looking up at him.
"Gildarts and Laxus were monsters to begin with, but them aside, our power hasn't caught up to this time period." Aira responded.
"True. Even Natsu was given a run for his money by Max there..." Lucy said.
"And we're talking Max-san..." Wendy stated.
"What you said before really was just flattery...?" Max sighed, scratching his forehead with tears in his eyes.
"I wonder if there's a way to boost our magic power all at once..." Happy muttered.
In the Forest...
They all decided to go to Porlyusica for some help. Porlyusica stares at them for a while with silence between them. After a while, she slams the door in their faces. "Go home!" She yelled from the other side of the door.
"Porlyusica-san! Don't you have some kind of good medicine for us?" Lucy pleaded, doing her best to smile.
"Like one that'll suddenly increase our power a hundredfold..." Natsu added on.
"I suppose that would be too convenient..." Aira muttered.
Carla looks over at Wendy who looked sad or worried. "What's wrong, Wendy?"
"Nothing..." Wendy shakes her head, not wanting anyone to worry about her.
Porlyusica opens the door once again, holding a broom. "I hate humans! Go home! Go home!" She shoos them away while they get scared and run away.
"What is it, her turn to clean?!" Natsu shouted.
"Sorry for bothering you!" Lucy apologized.
"What's with that old lady?!"
"She used to be Gramps' girlfriend!" Aira informed.
"Wrong, moron!" Porlyusica yelled.
Wendy turns around to look at Porlyusica one more time. After a couple of seconds, Wendy turns back around and runs back to the group.
At the Guild...
Master Makarov tells that he is retiring and Gildarts will be his successor, but Mira hands him a letter. In the letter, Gildarts says that he does not want to be the master, and the only two orders he will give are for Laxus to return to the guild and for Makarov to be the 6th master. Mira then gives Cana another letter, which contains a 'call Gildarts' card. She tears the card, saying she does not need it. Master Makarov says he will be the master until he dies and calls out for booze.
Back at the Forest...
The group is tired of running as they took a break to catch their breaths.
"Who's the one that suggested going to see Porlyusica-san?!" Lucy asked, resting on an outgrown root of a tree.
"Lucy..."
"That woman's a force of nature." Aira commented.
"I heard she was a misanthrope, but I didn't realize it was that bad..." Carla stated.
"Why should I count? I'm a cat..."
Wendy starts to tear up. The group notices her crying. "What's wrong, Wendy? Were you scared?" Aira asked.
"Hey, what's wrong?!"
"That old lady made Wendy cry!" Natsu yelled.
Wendy covers her face with her hands, shaking her head. "No, that's not it... I felt so nostalgic..."
"Have you met her before?" Carla questioned.
"Uh-uh... I'm sure this was my first time... But it gave me such a familiar feeling..." Wendy responded. "Her voice... Her smell... They're the same as Grandeeney!" This shocks all of them.
At the Guild...
Max complains about Gildarts wanting the guild to be first place, though Erza says its not bad to be ambitious. Then, they start talking about the other guilds that are strong and how the Tenrou team's power froze during the timeskip. Romeo gives an idea to Erza about how they can be number one quickly but the others say that should not join it.
In the Forest...
"That old woman is Grandeeney?!" Aira questioned.
"The same voice as the dragon Wendy is looking for?" Lucy added.
"What does that mean?" Happy asked Carla.
"Don't ask me!"
"Wendy, is that true?" Natsu asked.
Wendy sniffed. "I don't know!" She answered. "But... that smell... that voice... They're the same as my mother, the Sky Dragon, Grandeeney..."
"This needs to be checked out!" Natsu starts walking to Porlyusica's house.
"Wait!" Aira calls out. "Even if Grandeeney really has turned into a human, this wouldn't make any sense."
"That's right. Your guy's dragons too... They all disappeared seven years ago... More precisely, 14 years ago, in 777..." Lucy pointed out. "Porlyusica-san has known Master for a lot longer than that. In other words, when the dragons were around, Porlyusica-san was around. That contradicts. They can't be one and the same."
"Reincarnation, transformation, doesn't look like there's much to go on there, huh?" Aira asked.
"No." Lucy agreed.
"True, now that I've calmed down and thought about it, you're right. It doesn't make sense." Wendy said. "Even if the voice and scent are the same, the tone and mood are completely different."
"And you told me before, that Grandeeney likes humans." Carla recalled.
"What if she hates cats?! What should I do?!" Happy questioned.
Wendy stands back up. "Grandeeney is a kind dragon."
"I can't even imagine a kind dragon." Aira commented.
"Especially after seeing Acnologia..." Lucy stated.
"Igneel is nice, too!" Natsu added. "What about Kaito, Aira?"
"Stubborn and easily pissed me off." Aira responded.
Suddenly, Porlyusica arrives and apologizes to them. "Sorry I wasn't nice!"
"Porlyusica-san!"
"You scared me!"
Wendy walks closer to her. "I have nothing to hide. I'll talk to you. I'm not Grandeeney, the one you're looking for. I'm human, through and through." Porlyusica said.
"But don't you hate people...?" Natsu reminded her.
Porlyusica groans and grits through her teeth. "You got a problem with one human hating other humans?!"
"No, no!"
"I'm sorry, but I don't know where your dragon is. I have no direct relationship with dragons." Porlyuscia stated.
"Then what do you..."
"There is another world, different from this one. You know about Edolas, don't you?" She said. "I've heard you've even met your Edolas counterparts."
"Edolas..."
"You mean..."
"What?!"
"No way!"
"From an Earth Lander's perspective, I would be considered the Grandeeney of Edolas." Porlyusica revealed. "Decades ago, I got lost and ended up on this world." This surprises everyone.
"Edo-Grandeeney..."
"A human over there!"
"Makarov helped me in my time of need. And I grew rather fond of Earth Land, so even though I had several opportunities to return to Edolas, I decided to remain here." She explained.
Aira hummed. "Now that I think about it, it does make sense."
Everyone turns to him. "It does?" Lucy asked.
"When I was fighting my Edolas counterpart, I mentioned Kaito." Aira replied, recalling his battle with his Edolas self.
"Hey, I got a question for you." Aira spoke up, getting his counterpart's attention.
"What is it?"
"What's the Kaito here like? You're me, so you must have some relation with him."
Aira soon got hit with another lightning strike, causing him to crash into a wall as he groaned. Edo-Aira grabs him by his hair.
"Don't ever mention him again. I don't know what the Kaito is like in your world, but over here, he's a good-for-nothing asshole and an abuser!" Edo-Aira spoke with venom, shocking his Earth Land self.
Everyone seemed shocked by this. "Are any of the other dragons humans over there, too?!" Natsu asked.
"I don't know. I've never met them." Porlyusica replied. "But I have talked to the Sky Dragon."
This catches Wendy's attention quickly.
"We didn't meet directly. She spoke to me telepathically. I suppose through magic means. She said you people wanted to become 'strong'. But it may be possible only for the girl named Wendy." Porlyusica hands Wendy a book of spells written as Grandeeney directed and Wendy thanks her.
Back at the Guild...
"We're home..." Natsu and the others returned to the Guild.
"Oh, you're back, huh? Did you get good medicine?" Max asked.
"Just Wendy." Lucy answered.
Macao and Romeo have an argument about joining it. They ask why they are fighting. They vote who does not want to participate and all the other guild members, with the exception of the Tenrou team and Romeo, vote not going.
"What's this about bein' in it or not?" Natsu asked.
"Natsu-nii, while you guys were gone, a festival started up to decide the number one guild in Fiore." Romeo responded.
"That sounds like fun!" Natsu exclaimed.
"All the guilds in Fiore gather and compete with each other with their magic!" Romeo raised his pointer finger in the air. "It's called the Grand Magic Games!"
"Grand Magic Games?!" Lucy quoted.
"It sounds like fun!" Wendy added.
"Like a real festival!" Aira claimed.
"I see... Right now, the number one Guild in Fiore is said to be Sabertooth, right?" Erza asked.
"That's right! If we beat Sabertooth and win the games, we'll become Fiore's number one guild!" Romeo answered.
"But... I don't know if you guys are strong enough to pull that off right now..." Makarov stated.
"That's right! Exactly!" Macao agreed.
"If we win, the guild gets 30 million jewel as a reward!" Romeo informed.
"We're in it!" Makarov decided.
"Master!" Macao said.
"It's impossible! Between Pegasus and Lamia..." Droy started to say.
"Sabertooth isn't our only enemy!" Warren informed.
"Incidentally, in past festivals, we were always in last place." Jet commented.
"Don't be proud of that!" Elfman scolded.
"We'll take that crummy record and destroy it!" Makarov declared.
Natsu lights his hand on fire. "Sabertooth, huh? I'm fired up!"
"That's annoying!" Jet complained.
"When is that tournament?" Natsu asked Romeo.
"Three months from now." Romeo answered.
Natsu pounds his fists together. "Plenty of time! By then, we'll be lean and mean, and Fairy Tail will become Fiore's number one guild again!"
"Sounds good." Aira agreed.
"Yeah! If everyone joins their power as one..." Lucy started to say.
"...there's nothing we can't do." Erza finished.
"That's how long I have to learn the magic I got from Grandeeney!" Wendy said.
Happy was dancing. "A festival, Carla!"
"Isn't that what this guild is like year 'round?" Carla questioned.
"Man! When it comes to festivals, Man!" Elfman shouted.
"It looks like we'll be able to achieve Gildarts' wish earlier than expected, huh?" Cana said.
"Seriously?"
"Are we really gonna participate?"
"Sure, why not give it a shot?" Levy said.
"I-I really don't think we should go through with it..." Alzack stated.
"It's a little different than the battle festival you're thinking of, Natsu..." Bisca claimed.
"It's not that?!" Natsu exclaimed in horror.
"It's hell." Warren said.
"I've already decided we're gonna do it, so there's no point in complaining! Let's aim for the 30 million... ahem, I mean, aim for Fiore's number one!" Makarov announced.
"Team Fairy Tail is going to enter the Grand Magic Games!"
A/N: And we're heading straight into the GMG Arc!
Thanks for reading!
