CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE: SMALL FIST

Wendy was breathing heavily, trying to catch her breath. "I guess you're not going to give up?" Sherria questioned.

"Wendy!" Natsu exclaimed in worry.

"She can barely stand!" Lucy pointed out.

"Wendy..." Erza muttered.

"This is an incredible fight..." Aira mumbled.

Jellal was walking down the steps to get closer. "If that Sherria girl has some connection to Zeref... Wendy is in danger!" Jellal thought as he stood in front of some spectators, blocking their view.

"Hey, you!"

"Huh? This guy..."

"From Fairy Tail...?"

"Should I stop this? Or wait and see?" Jellal asked himself.

By now, Doranbolt had stood up. "Wendy..." He thought before looking down at Jellal. "But right now... Seven years ago, I infiltrated Fairy Tail. To some extent, I'm acquainted with inside information on Fairy Tail. Mystogan... You're not supposed to exist in this world."

Jellal noticed that Doranbolt had his eyes locked on him while Wendy winced in pain.

"I don't mind fighting, but I've got no love for one-sided violence where the outcome is clear." Sherria said.

"The Council... At a time like this..." Jellal thought.

"You know, you can always surrender." Sherria said.

"I can't!" Wendy shouted, making Sherria get taken aback. "The fact that I'm standing here means that I'm prepared to fight for my guild! I don't need your pity. Until I fall and can't move anymore, come at me with everything you've got! Please!"

Sherria was lost for words. "Wendy..." Carla muttered.

"Sure. That's only common courtesy." Sherria said.

"Right!" Wendy agreed.

"Well, now it's my turn to break out a big move!" Sherria claimed as black wind soon gathered. "I'll make it easy on you and end this with one strike."

"God Slayer's Secret Art!" Sherria called out.

"Sherria, no!" Lyon shouted.

"Not that!" Jura said.

"Fool! Do you mean to kill your opponent?!" Obaba exclaimed.

"I'm answering the full strength of your feelings with my full strength! That's what love is!" Sherria said.

"W-What is that Magic?!" Erza questioned.

"That's..." Jellal trailed off.

"Heaven's Gathering Clouds!" Sherria finished her spell, aiming her spell right at Wendy, but the spell moved by her.

"She dodged it!" Romeo said.

"No... It missed her!" Makarov corrected.

"It seems Sherria can heal herself with her Magic, but it only works on wounds. It looks like she can't recharge herself with energy." Satsuki pointed out.

"Right." Juvia agreed.

"Wendy's the opposite. She can't heal herself with her Magic, but she can restore another person's strength." Carla explained.

"I see... Then..." Happy realized.

"...she revived her opponent's physical strength?!" Romeo concluded.

"And because of that, Sherria's Magic gained too much force..." Lyon said.

"Wendy made her miss... by increasing her strength!" Aira concluded.

Sherria stared in amazement. "What strategy! Amazing!" She praised.

"Sky Dragon's..." Wendy leaped into the air. "Crushing Fang!"

She struck Sherria, who blocked it with her arm as it immediately healed.

"That's great, Wendy!" Sherria exclaimed.

Wendy aimed a kick at Sherria, who countered it with one of her own, forming an air sphere around them. The two of them landed on the ground.

"This is an incredible turn of events! Neither side is giving any ground!" Chapati said as Sherria and Wendy were throwing punches. "It's a clash of little fists! Is this tenacity for the sake of their guilds?!"

"I can't stop this..." Jellal thinks to himself as Sherria and Wendy continued their battle. "Though their fists are small, their passion is vast..."

Everyone was watching the two girls battle. "Go! Neither of you lose!" Natsu cheered.

"Wendy..." Carla teared up a bit.

The battle resumed as the audience cheered and the gong rang out, signaling time was up.

"And so... time has run out!" Chapati announced as both Wendy and Sherria were trying to catch their breath. "The match is over and it's a draw! Both teams receive five points!"

"Awesome!" Natsu said.

"You did great, Wendy!" Lucy praised.

"Both of them were magnificent." Erza stated.

"Yep." Aira agreed.

"Sherria and Wendy both did very well." Lyon said.

"We were lucky to get to see that." Yuka claimed as Toby cried.

"This is the best match I've seen yet!" Chapati said.

"Even though judging them on Magic alone, Sherria's level is far higher..." Jura stated, recalling when he first met Wendy during the Nirvana incident.

"U-Um... I... I'm no good when it comes to battle, but I can use a lot of support Magic that'll be useful to everyone. So... So... please don't leave me out!" Wendy begged.

"That girl from back then... has grown this much..." Jura thinks to himself.

"Wendy..." Happy sobbed.

"W-What are you crying for?" Carla scolded.

Sherria looked over at Wendy. "Did it hurt? I'm sorry." She apologized.

"I'm fine. That's all I hear from you." Wendy replied as they both smiled at each other.

"That was fun, Wendy." Sherria said, a pale purple light coming from her hands as she began to heal Wendy.

"My wounds... I enjoyed it too, a little." Wendy admitted.

"Hey, let's be friends, okay?" Sherria offered.

"Sure. I mean, if you want me as a friend..." Wendy said.

"No, no, no! Answer like friends are supposed to." Sherria told her before extending her hand and smiling. "Let's be friends, Wendy!"

Wendy smiled back. "Sure, Sherria!" She accepted. Both girls stood up and shook hands.

"What a moving ending! For this old man, the tournament is over!" Chapati announced.

"Hold on there. Just the third day is over." Yajima reminded.

"Thank you, everyone!"

Jellal sensed it again. "What's this?! Even though the fight's over, that sinister Magic is still around?! Then Sherria isn't the source of that Magic?!" Jellal thought, looking around.

"It's from over there! Heading towards the exit!"

Jellal began following the source of Magic, when he realized Doranbolt was tailing him.

"Tch!"

Jellal sped away in a flash of golden light.

"Did he notice me? But..." Doranbolt trailed off.

And so, the third day ended. At this point, Sabertooth is the top team with 34 points. Mermaid Heel is in second place. Lamia Scale is in third, making those the best three. Below them, the order goes Fairy Tail B, A, and then Blue Pegasus.

Jellal was outside of the arena as he walked towards the exit. "The source of that mysterious Magic..." He looked ahead at the hooded figure who was in front of him. "It's him!"

Jellal then broke into a run. "I found him!"

However, Doranbolt appeared in front of him. "He came out of nowhere!" Jellal thinks to himself.

"You're not going anywhere." Doranbolt claimed as the hooded person began to move further away.

"Even though the person who possesses that mysterious Magic is right over there..."

"Who are you?!" Doranbolt questioned.

"I'll put him to sleep." Jellal thought before realizing something. "No... Right now, I'm supposed to be a Fairy Tail wizard. I can't lay a hand on a member of the Council."

Lahar and some Rune Knights appeared behind Jellal. "Doranbolt, what's all the commotion about?" Lahar asked.

"Dammit!" Jellal cursed silently.

"I know you're not Mystogan. So who are you?" Doranbolt questioned once more.

Jellal widened his eyes as Lahar and the Rune Knights waited for his answer. Lucy, Natsu, and Aira were conversing with each other while Erza stood off to the side with her arms crossed as she suddenly looked back.

"I'll ask once more. Who are you?!" Doranbolt asked, stepping towards Jellal a bit.

"Sorry. I'm in a hurry." Jellal replied, trying to walk past him. However, Doranbolt teleported, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Oh, no, you don't! Mystogan isn't in Earthland." He said.

"I'm Mystogan." Jellal argued.

Doranbolt reached for Jellal's cap "What are you...?!" Jellal said.

"Who are you?!" Doranbolt shouted as Jellal's cap flew through the air.

Natsu, Lucy, Aira, Erza, Happy, and Cain were walking outside of the stadium. "I'm starvin'!" Natsu complained, touching his stomach.

"Come on, Natsu! I'm trying to bask in the afterglow of that touching ending!" Happy claimed.

"I can't help bein' hungry! Alright, let's get somethin' to eat, Happy!" Natsu said before taking off.

"He's incorrigible..." Happy muttered before his stomach rumbled. "M-Me too..."

"Aye, sir!" Happy flew after Natsu.

"Yeesh..." Aira muttered.

Erza crossed her arms. "Ah, well... We got to see a good match today. I'm sure dinner will be really good tonight." She claimed.

Jellal's cap fell to the ground, revealing his face. "Crap..." He said as Doranbolt widened his eyes. Jellal soon looked back.

"Jellal?!" Lahar exclaimed in shock as Jellal gritted his teeth.

"Oh, so there you are, Mystogan-kun!" Yajima said as he arrived.

"Yajima-san!" Doranbolt exclaimed.

"Lahar-kun... You can understand why Mystogan-kun hides his face, can't you?" Yajima asked. "He was unlucky enough to be born with the same face as Jellal. I hope you understand."

"You're saying... He's another person?!" Lahar questioned.

"Perhaps you know of the world called Edolas?"

"Yes. I heard about it from one of my subordinates."

"That world and this one are connected. There are people who have the same faces." Yajima explained.

"Then you're from Edolas?" Lahar asked.

"Yeah." Jellal replied.

Mermaid Heel soon happened to walk by.

"That was a great match, wasn't it?!"

"Yep!"

Kagura suddenly stopped as she turned, seeing Jellal. "Jellal!" She thinks to herself as her heart thumped loudly before she covered her mouth.

"Kagura!" Arana exclaimed.

Kagura collapsed to her knees. "Hey, what's wrong?!" Risley questioned.

"Kagura-san!"

"Kagura-chan!"

Kagura's body was shaking uncontrollably as she was breathing heavily. "Kagura! Get a hold of yourself!" Arana told her.

"Somebody call for a medic!" Risley shouted.

"Kagura-chan is..." Millianna started to say but her sentence stopped.

"What's wrong?!"

"Is she okay?"

Millianna stops upon seeing Jellal in the distance. "Jell..." She started to say before marching forward. However, Kagura grabbed onto her wrist, preventing her from going forward.

"I'm all right now. I've calmed down." She informed.

"But he's over there..." Millianna stated.

Kagura stands up. "I know. I'm okay now. I'm sorry." She apologized as she had a dark look in her eyes. "So they've been hiding him..."

"Jellal in Fairy Tail...? Why, Er-chan?!" Millianna asked herself.

The Rune Knights soon departed. "I appreciate your understanding." Jellal said.

Lahar looked at him. "Oh, no. I apologize for not knowing the circumstances." He claimed.

Jellal placed his cap back on. "To me, Jellal is an evil being." He said, covering his mouth. "If I run into him, you can bet I'll report him."

Lahar nodded. "Good."

"Well then..." Jellal turned around, walking past Yajima. 'I owe you, Yajima-san.' He spoke to Yajima telepathically.

'Just this once. Get out of here before you cause Makarov any trouble.' Yajima replied.

'Yes. I swear I'll be gone by the time the tournament is over.' Jellal promised.

Lahar walks up next to Doranbolt. "That was the real thing." He informed, causing Doranbolt to look at him.

"I don't want Yajima-san to lose face here, but we won't let him get away!" Lahar claimed.

Jellal was outside of the stadium as he looked around, not seeing the hooded figure anywhere.

"Did I lose him?" He wondered. "That Magic was like Zeref's and yet it wasn't his. Who are you?!"

Later that night...

Laxus was tucked behind one of the arches in the town with his arms crossed and leaning against the wall. Eventually, Master Makarov walked up to him. Laxus recalled his battle with Ivan.

"Maybe... somewhere in Gramps' heart, he had faith in you. Because you're father and son..."

"Silence! I've been waiting all this time for this day! It was all to get Lumen Histoire! Where is Lumen Histoire?! Where is it?! Tell me, Laxus! You're my son, aren't you?!"

"Gramps... What's Lumen Histoire?" Laxus asked.

Master Makarov closed his eyes. "You heard this from Ivan?" He questioned.

"Heard about it? All I know is he wanted it badly." Laxus replied.

"That brat will be the end of me..." Master Makarov muttered.

"He called it 'Fairy Tail's darkness'." Laxus stated as Master Makarov stayed silent.

"It's not darkness."

Laxus looked over to see that Mavis had joined them. "First Master!" Master Makarov exclaimed.

"Lumen Histoire... That's our guild's light." Mavis explained.

"First Master, you mustn't!" Master Makarov warned.

"I know. Only the master of this guild has the right to know to know about it." Mavis turned to Laxus. "Laxus, do you understand?"

"If it ain't anything weird, then I won't bother looking into it." Laxus responded.

"Thank you!" Mavis thanked him.

"But where did Ivan get ahold of that information?" Master Makarov wondered.

"The second master... It was likely Precht." Mavis answered.

Master Makarov placed a hand on his chin. "It's possible..." He agreed.

"I never imagined that Precht would fall to the dark side. And now, as a result of my shallow-brained selection..." Mavis glanced down in shame.

"No. It's not your fault, First Master." Master Makarov reassured.

"It is my fault! I..." Mavis began to tear up as Master Makarov and Laxus went pale.

"First Master!" Master Makarov exclaimed as Mavis began crying.

"G-Gramps! What do we do?!" Laxus asked.

"I'm not crying! Not at all! I'm not... crying..." Mavis said.

"Laxus! Go on, hold her!" Master Makarov exclaimed.

"That hurdle's too high!" Laxus argued.
