Disclaimer :I own neither Naruto or Avatar The last airbender.

Waking up slowly Naruto glanced around drool pouring in his mouth. Shivering a bit he wiggled his toes snuggling back in the blanket as he surveyed his surroundings.

Glancing at the side of his bed he saw his mother sleeping unconvered.

'I'm glad. She woke up and it doesn't look like were captives.' He thought glancing at her earth nation clothing the typical brown and green giving it away.

Gently getting out of the bed covering her with the blanket he walked out a bit before looking down at himself also covered in earth nation clothing.

Not knowing what to think of it he walked out opening the door as the massive cold wind came in causing him to shiver.

Walking out he glanced around seeing quite happy chats around him as they glanced at him before resuming.

'That means no one here knows what I did. So this is a different ship but...where are we headed?' He thought walking out front looking at the ice bergs in the distance being navigated away.

'I see! Were going to the North pole right?!' He thought excited at the deduction.

"The ship captain must be very skilled at this though!" He said glancing as they cleverly navigated the polar caps and ice bergs.

Deciding he already did enough recon he went back inside his room to his mother to make sure nothing happened to her.

Opening the door he left some water by the door as a easier way of attack incase anyone got any ideas

'It's better to be prepared!' He thought closing it tight freezing it shut as he realized he didn't feel very safe on this ship of unfamiliar people.

In fact he hadn't felt safe ever since the start of this journey. And on top of that he was no doubt about it being hunted this very moment by the fire nation.

It was alot for a kid to shoulder.

Crawling in the bed he wrapped himself in his covers for comfort as he felt movement from the side.

Of course it could only be his mother as he saw her waking up at the disturbance.

Hama glancing around caught Naruto's eyes smilling as she stretched out for a bit before pulling him into a tight hug.

Glancing at his silent mother in confusion Naruto said nothing enjoying the display of affection from her as he smiled snuggling in.

"Mom?" Naruto started humming as he felt her rake her hands through his hair.

"Yes my child?" She said enjoying the feeling herself relishing in her new found connection with him.

Thinking about what he wanted to ask he started with something simple. " You know we are being hunted by the entire fire nation right?"

He didn't know how much she knew considering she was out most of the time but he thought it would be important to inform her.

Hama hmmed herself grinning down at him in jest "Well. I would say it's more you who is being hunted than me. No one knows about me but everyone certainly knows about the Ocean Behemoth. The child who hair shines like gold!" She said dramatically seeing his paling face.

Sometime she forgot exactly how cute this child was at times she thought to herself dragging her nails through his scalp narrowing her eyes at him.

Naruto however was in own world wondering why he had such a awful name. Ocean Behemoth?! That was awful! Speaking of that ...

"Mom how do you know that so quickly?" He thought in confusion.

He doubted such a name could spread so quickly. Even if the fire nation was a powerhouse.

Looking down at him anticipating the question she said " That's simple . You've been unconscious for a week afterall."

Naruto eyes shot up to her's in suprise as he said "Really?! That long? I don't think I was that tired!"

He did not expect that at all.

Nodding completely serious Hama said " It's true and if you ever feel that tired again? Run."

Naruto looking confused said " Why?"

"Naruto. What happens to people when they're unconscious for a long time?" She said pulling him closer wanting him to understand how serious this was.

Thinking about it Naruto said " They??". Well he didn't really know that.

"They die. How can someone eat and sleep if they're not awake? Without food or water you die Naruto. And if I hadn't become stronger?" She said demonstrating pulling the little mouse up before his very eyes using blood bending.

"You could have died." She said gripping his face looking him in his shaky eyes.

Squshing his cheeks she said "Don't do it again okay?" Getting a slow nod.

Smilling knowing it got through she flicked his nose laying back down knowing he would follow.

Holding his nose glaring he crawled by her saying "Mom what were you trying to do that day?"

It was obvious to know he was talking about the assassination attempt. He was dying to know what was going through her mind that day. He knew his mom was a fire nation nut but still he thought her survival instincts suppressed it.

Wincing embarrassed Hama turned around away from him at the complete mess up she committed. She hadn't slipped like that since ever really.

Sensing weakness Naruto jumped on her repeatedly annoying her saying "Tell me!" without stop until she broke.

"Ok! Ok. Just give me a moment ok?!" She said breathing out embarrassed.

Honestly this brat had no tact at all. He could clearly see she didn't want to recount this but showed no mercy.

Rolling her eyes turning around she said " As you know I've been trying to use bloodbending on days that the full moon isn't out."

Stopping she glanced at his scrunched face as he relaxed it after a while nodding.

Breathing out a sigh in relief she continued "That day before I had finally made a breakthrough! I was able to slighty alter someone's body without their notice!" As she said that she reminisced on the resulting power trip regretting not having control.

Looking at her boy watching her in rapt attention she said" I think I do so without the full moon now but I was always so stuck thinking you can only do it then I never actually tried it anywhere else."

'A disadvantage of being of having a old mind in a young body I suppose. Being stuck in your ways. Though it isn't much compared to the advantages of course!' She thought clenching her hand.

Continuing the shameful debacle she said " You already know your mother baby. If I can I'll wipe out the entire fire nation without batting a eye or losing sleep... So I'm sure you can guess what happened when I thought I could use my full bloodbending prowess without the full moon."

Nodding Naruto said " You went insane again. Come on mom that's old news! Get on with the juicy parts!"

They both knew she was a crazy understandably so when it came to the fire nation but, Naruto didn't appreciate the reminder! Honestly his mother sucked at story telling clearly.

Narrowing her eyes she went to pinch his nose eyes widening when a tentacle of water batted her hand away as she looked at his smirking face.

About to teach this brat a lesson she pulled water out of the air making her own tentacle sending it towards him.

Sadly for her, her child was discovering his powerful talent as he snatched control of her own bending smacking her with it as it exploded into uncontrolled water on contact splashing her in the face.

In a daze looking at him she quickly launched foward as he jumped up cackling dodging landing on her back.

Placing more strength on her back as he sat down he said " Do you give up mom?"

Scolding him she said "You damn disrespectful brat! How dare you fight back at your mother?" Shamelessly pulling the parental role card when losing.

Looking at her smugly Naruto said slowly " I realised with you mother...you make awful decisions. Like the worst ones possible! So I'll take it upon myself to reign you in. Otherwise you'll just get us both killed. You doing something dumb and me saving you!"

Freezing at what he said in shock she immediately spat back venomously "Listen here my dear child! When I get out of this I'll! -"

Tuning her out Naruto let her ramble on as he sat on her back. Honestly the decision to be so wild with her came suddenly but the more he did it? The more he felt he made the right choice and would do it again. It was time to put a stop on his mother if he wanted her to live past his 15th birthday.

His poor poor mother was clearly deeply and utterly insane. He always knew it but now he could not ignore it no matter how well adjusted she acted sometimes. And wasn't she the best actor he ever saw?

Sometimes she hit him, forced him to do something he didn't want or forced hateful stuff about the fire nation into his head.

Other times? She was the sweetest mother ever. She kissed him, hugged him, taught him, fed him, cut his hair ,read him stories or even slept with him in his bed!

Now that he thought about it? It shook him deeply. She could have easily died there and he wouldn't have even known. Never. Her body would have been burnt to ashes after the failure and scattered into the ocean.

Or even worse. She could have been caught and thrown in prison again but this time? No escape.

He could infer what happened just by what she already told him. She got some new power and instead of properly testing it out she decided it was prudent to try assasinate 2 of some of the strongest benders in the world.

In the middle of their territory. Surrounded by more than 1000 guards and even more die-hard citizens. On a island. By herself.

Insanity clearly ailed her badly.

How did she even think she would escape after? Did she have wings he didn't know? Perhaps she was secretly the avatar and could earth bend into the ground to escape?

She clearly didn't know he was there so she couldn't have been able to think he would save her.

All these things pointed to Naruto that his mother in her insane rage cared for none of it at all. To put it simply her overwhelming desire for revenge wasn't resolved or diminished. Like a rabid animal ready to kill anything in its path only making it self available to get put down.

She clearly loved him but couldn't show it completely due to her insanity. She spared him not a single thought as she threw herself to death carelessly leaving him alone. Then came talking to him like she did nothing wrong and it was just a minor mishap.

Clearly she didn't know exactly what he went through to keep her in one piece. She couldn't have if she was talking to him with such nonchalance.

He was sure their were wanted posters with his face everwhere now.

He could not handle her regularly, he thought looking at her not struggling anymore. She would simply ignore him. He had the power now though and he wouldn't be put aside for her insanity anymore.

"Hama? There's going to be new rules now." Naruto said looking at her blankly feeling he needed to shake things up if he was going to keep her in line as she stiffened at the address.

Feeling him move off her she hestiated to move sitting up looking at the child in his eyes smacking her lips at her suddenly parched throat.

'W-what on earth is happening?'

" So, mom! What's your plan for the Northen water tribe?!" Naruto said excited as he jumped on the bed crawling into her lap bringing the blanket.

Glancing at him she smacked her lips thinking 'What a change'

"Well... I was going to wait until the full moon to challenge their strongest to a duel to get rid of that silly 'Only men can practice water bending for combat' foolishness. " She said slowly telling him what she cooked up.

"But now that I achieved success in bloodbending without the full moon? I can take nearly any bender in single combat."

'Expect you.' She thought knowing he was immune to such manipulation if he wanted to be.

"That's it right?" He said glancing at her blandly pressuring her to be open and truthful.

Nodding nervously she said" Of course baby. I can't do anything there if they don't acknowledge me as a master."

Smilling Naruto said " That's great! Hopefully you won't mess up here to!" Ignoring her flinch and pout as he sent a water whip towards a window opening it so they could see the scenery.

Glancing at his mom he asked her " How was your home mom?"

She never spoke about it and he never had the courage to ask before.

Glancing at him smilling she gestured him to come closer as she pulled the blanket up around them both.

"Well~ If you're really curious? It was quite the thing really." She thought pulling up the memories hugging him to her .

"Everyone and I mean everyone knew each other. It was impossible to live there without knowing most of the village. We were a small but tough little tribe and our best trait was perhaps our loyalty to each other." She thought smilling at the thought.

"Sounds nice." Naruto mumbled enjoying the warmth.

"It was. Everyone had their own little part to play in the circle that was our village. Some went hunting, other scavenging or even visting the earth kingdom for supplies." She paused a bit.

"We certainly weren't as well connected as the Northen Water tribe but whenever we came down people always loved to trade with us whether it furs, meat, or stories." She said imagining the scene.

"None of you ever stayed in the earth kingdom?" Naruto questioned curious.

Nodding she said " Funnily enough I do remember 1 person trying to live there. He came back of course a week later unable to take the heat."

"I never thought about that. Having to adjust to the warm or cold. Is that why the North and South tribes hardly have any vistors or new people living there?"

"That and the fact that its so hard to live there if you're not a water bender or born there already." She responded happy to answer.

It truly was a double edge. Or at least it used to be one before the fire nation had such a large amount of ships. Now they could ignore those disadvantages to hit any water tribe hard if they wanted to.

Of course had any tribe actually focused on attack instead of defending from the beginning it would have been a much different situation alas.

"Hmm so have you ever went to the northen water tribe mom? I know you hate them alot but it seems you know alot about them too." He said telling her what he observed.

"No. But I do or did have a friend from there who fled to our village. She told me all about them so you could say I'm quite knowledgeable about them. Though it could have changed by now." She said looking up at hearing the ship's horn.

Both glancing at each other they got off the bed as Naruto destroyed his ice opening the door taking his mother's hand and leaving.

Naruto took a deep breath as he glanced at the tall ice wall. Glancing to the side he saw water tribe boats surrounding them.

He squinted his eyes seeing one man board there ship by himself however his eyes widened slightly at what he heard and saw next.

"Captain Kossak. It's great to have you back again!" The young man said nodding to the ship captain in respect.

"Rorin. You've grown quite a bit since I last saw you! It seems you're leading your own squad as well?" He said hugging him briefly.

"Well that happens when you're in jail for years captain." He said in a deadpan.

"I'm here to restock the ship and send these people back...is that him?" he said lowly glancing at the golden haired boy.

Fliching Kossak quickly waved him away before he straightened his back walking to the mother and son duo before saying "Miss Hama? This way please!" As he gestured to the water tribe speeder.

Naruto glanced between them as he wondered what this crazy mother of his got up to again. Feeling himself pulled along he looked back hearing the cries of outrage from the tourist before he climbed down onto the water tribe speeder.

"Mom? Did you send the rest ahead of us?" He said watching as they got near the large wall of ice.

'It'd probably take me a bit of time to make something this thick and large!' Naruto thought excited seeing the walls come down.

Glancing at her child seeing he wasn't mad she said "Well I thought it was prudent to atleast sort our entry out. It would be bad if we had to force our way in not even getting in the door." getting flinches from the men controlling the boats with waterbending.

"Mom! What are those." He said looking to the weird animals that seemed a bit like deer bulls.

Glancing at them Hama said "Those are buffalo yaks sweety. They're used in battle though their mainly for transportation."

Nodding taking in the knowledge Naruto ducked his head in panic seeing all the people waiting for them "Ambush?!" he said frantically whispering to her tugging her hand.

What other reason would such a large amount of people be waiting for them for here?

Quickly gripping him before he tried something crazy she quickly mumbled " Sweety? You are a hero to these people! They more than likely knew about your arrival before you came. So please just smile and wave for now!"

Even she had forgot exactly how much of a impact of what he did caused. Not a single person on the entire map could not hear about the mass retreat of the fire nation on multiple fronts and the sudden massive amounts of bounty posters of a golden haired child dubbed child of spirits none knowing his name.

Even if what happened in the fire nation captial hadn't completely spread yet the retreat was more than enough for people to light their candles in hope for better days.

"Welcome home hero!"

"Welcome!"

"Thank you!"

"Thank you for keeping us safe!"

"You fought for our freedom!"

"May the Moon and Ocean spirits bless you!"

"Please enjoy your stay!"

"Good job beating those fire heads!"

Swallowing at the crowd he waved getting cheers trying to calm down as he differentiated them from the fire nation crowd and army.

It was truly a large amount of people were they really all gathered here? Did they not know he didn't do it for them? Not a single thought spared to them.

Glancing at his mom who said nothing he took a deep breath in he got control of himself.

Walking foward letting go of his mothers hand ignoring the raise in volume as they thought he was going to address them he pushed to the front of the ship standing near the edge.

Looking up glad today was somewhat cloudy he got into a low stance as he begun smoothly running through his basic water bending form.

Looking at him in confusion the crowd began mumbling before feeling a shadow cover them. Looking up they nearly lost their minds as they watched as the sky lost all light.

The clouds still coming together getting thicker and thicker Naruto deliberately stopped the rain from falling through sheer will as he brought more and more.

'More I need more!' He thought pulling deep knowing he needed to get this right!

The orginally bright and sunny day was no more, as sheer pitch black was upon them only being surpassed by the actual night.

The striking change in less than 5 minutes was what finally got the proud tribe to bend their knees clearly in the presence of a all powerful spirit.

Praying to both Tui and La they added another to the list. The Ocean Behemoth. Begging for mercy for their sins.

Naruto feeling it was enough didn't wipe his sweat as he glanced at the water benders near him prostrating a tad confused.

Looking towards his mom who eyes were wide and bloodshot he smiled and said nothing.

Peering up he began bending the massive amount of water out of the cloud as a small bright light finally peeked out from the middle as if waiting.

The light getting bigger and bigger got the Tribe to look up with shaking eyes in deep reverence and fervor seeing the manipulation of the night and day.

Watching in complete silence as the clouds were ripped away like paper they simply beheld the gargantuan water bubble as it floated ominously doing nothing but assuring there deaths should it fall as it shadowed the entire tribe.

Blank eyed watching it for any sudden movements they gasped as it began shifting, their breath hurried seing it separate into 9 different shapes.

Looking at them Naruto didn't know why exactly as he opened his mouth his voice booming across the entire tribe.

"Shukaku the mentally youngest of his siblings. Childish and short-tempered he shows respect to any whom respect him"

"Matatabi the second of the litter. Respectful, graceful and polite the most well mannered of her siblings."

"Isobu the third of the siblings alot like his younger sister but much more timid and much less outspoken."

"Son Gokū the fourth of his kind. Prideful quick to anger but any who proves themselves to him have his undying loyalty."

"Kokuō the fifth of his herd. Quiet and reserved a pacifist in nature but watch out for his stampede is to be feared."

"Saiken the sixth of his siblings. Boastful yet kind, not conceited yet will kill any to save himself do not underestimate him."

"Chōmei the seventh of her siblings. Carefree and easy-going she remains the most optimistic of them all bringing light to any day. "

"Gyūki the eight of his siblings. Tough and serious, he took it upon himself the responsibility to rein in his siblings.."

" And finally, Kuruma the ninth and strongest of them all. Snarky and shrewd the only thing greater than his pride is his power."

"And from today foward? These siblings will guard this place until I say so." Naruto finished tiredly as the animated beast of water finally finished their transformation turning into exact copies of themselves.

Running around the entire tribe for a bit they clearly showed exactly how life like they were as the ran rampant for a bit in the air.

They slowed as they perched themselves onto the high walls, slowly freezing into a prone position visible from far away.

Seeing them simply look blankly at the statues as if brain dead Naruto smiled as he sat down feeling his body ache and his mind pound. That was no good at all huh?

Seeing his mom come near him he smiled " Did I do it good enough mom?"

He thought he did but it was always better to get a second opinion of course.

Looking at him Hama thought on what to say trying to stamp down her own bubbling fanatical feelings. She looked at him as he swayed slowly already knowing what was coming as she kneeled.

Did he do good enough? She was pretty sure after today only if the moon and ocean spirits themselves said otherwise would these people...

"You did a splendid job my dear. I can't explain exactly how much either." She said, whispering to him as the water benders directing them finally got a hold of their barrings taking them further in though their bodies told their state of mind.

Smilling Naruto felt his vision fading as he watched them come under the brigde the people separating from his path even if he wasn't in the way.

'Hopefully this makes it easier to live!' Naruto thought happily.

He was sure when they saw what he did they wouldn't mind letting them stay without any problems and hopefully he could help his mom change their minds on some of their customs.

He was sure it was the right play as he finally lost the battle of consciousness after his reckless play.

Eh probably shouldn't have made him op now that I think about it. Hindsight and all but.. who cares really. I'm gonna have fun writing him still.

And not proof read.
