With Courage I Will Face
Ash's Pokedex Interlude
On the walk to Cerulean City, Ash decided to peak at his Pokedex while Misty and Brock discussed recipes. He noticed that his Pokedex had scanned more Pokemon than he actively thought to scan, as it would sometimes activate based on proximity. He skimmed through the Pokedex summaries of those he had encountered so far.
Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokemon. It can go for days without eating a single morsel. In the bulb on its back, it stores energy.
Charmander, the Lizard Pokemon. The flame at the tip of its tail makes a sound as it burns. You can only hear it in quiet places.
Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. Shoots water at prey while in the water. Withdraws into its shell when in danger.
Caterpie, the Worm Pokemon. Perhaps because it would like to grow up quickly, it has a voracious appetite, eating a hundred leaves a day.
Metapod, the Cocoon Pokemon. It's shell is full with a thick liquid. All of the cells throughout its body are being rebuilt in preparation for evolution.
Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon. Its wings are covered in toxic scales. If it finds bird Pokemon going after Caterpie, Butterfree sprinkles its scales on them to drive them off.
Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokemon. Beware of the sharp stinger on its head. It hides in grass and bushes where it eats leaves.
Kakuna, the Cocoon Pokemon. Able to move only slightly. When endangered, it may stick out its stinger and poison its enemy.
Beedrill, the Poison Bee Pokemon. It has three poisonous stingers on its forelegs and its tail. They are used to jab its enemy repeatedly.
Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. Very docile. If attacked, it will often kick up sand to protect itself rather than fight back.
Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokemon. This Pokemon is full of vitality. It constantly flies around its large territory in search of prey.
Rattata, the Mouse Pokemon. It's incisors grow continuously throughout its life. If its incisors get too long, the Pokemon becomes unable to eat, and it starves to death.
Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. Its reckless nature leads it to stand up to others- even large Pokemon- if it has to protect its territory.
Ekans, the Snake Pokemon. By dislocating its jaw, it can swallow prey larger than itself. After a meal, it curls up and rests.
Pikachu, the Mouse Pokemon. Its nature is to store up electricity. Forests where nests of Pikachu live are dangerous, since the trees are so often struck by lightning.
Nidoran (F), the Poison Pin Pokemon. A mild-mannered Pokemon that does not like to fight. Beware- its small horn secretes venom.
Clefairy, the Fairy Pokemon. They're popular, but they're rare. Trainers who show them off recklessly may be targeted by thieves.
Zubat, the Bat Pokemon. It has no eyeballs, so it can't see. It checks its surroundings via the ultrasonic waves it emits from its mouth.
Paras, the Mushroom Pokemon. Whether it's due to lack of moisture or a lack of nutrients, in Alola the mushrooms on Paras don't grow up quite right.
Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokemon. When visiting a junkyard, you may catch sight of it having an intense fight with Murkrow over shiny objects.
Geodude, the Rock Pokemon. Geodude that have lived a long life will have had all their edges smoothed out until they're totally round. They also have a calm, quiet disposition.
Magnemite, the Magnet Pokemon. It's frequently the cause of power outages, which is why some power plants send out electrical signals that it can't stand.
Grimer, the Sludge Pokemon. It was born from sludge on the ocean floor. In a sterile environment, the germs within its body can't multiply and it dies.
Onix, the Rock Snake Pokemon. Burrows at high speed in search of food. The tunnels it leaves are used as homes by Diglett.
Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokemon. It can be spotted near recreational facilities, intending to eat the pleasant dreams of children who enjoyed themselves there that day.
Voltorb, the Ball Pokemon. It is said to camouflage itself as a Pokeball. It will self-destruct with very little stimulus.
Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokemon. In hot places, its internal gases could expand and explode without any warning. Be very careful!
Chansey, the Egg Pokemon. It seems that other Pokemon's efforts to take its delicious, nutritious egg away from it caused Chansey to get faster at fleeing.
Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokemon. Although known for their splendid tail fins, Goldeen apparently compete among themselves to see whose horn is the thickest and sharpest.
Staryu, the Star Shape Pokemon. In many places, there are folktales of stardust falling into the ocean and becoming Staryu.
Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokemon. It gets into territorial disputes with Vikavolt. For some reason, it apparently gets along well with Heracross in Alola.

Hey guys! Something different this week, thought this would be a fun thing for me to keep track of so why not let you guys see it too? Basically this is every Pokemon Ash has gotten within roughly air-dropping range of a Pokemon with his Pokedex or manually scanned one himself. If you guys like this I might be willing to post another one down the line, and maybe one's for the other Pokedex holders too since I have the idea that they will all be loosely primarily using extries from one game when applicable. Most of Ash's Pokedex entries are coming from Pokemon Ultra Sun, if you were curious, OR from Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee.
I'm going on vacation this week (I leave tomorrow!) but you'll hear from me soon after that! Hope you guys enjoy this!
