Do You Believe In Fairytales

Do you believe in fairytales?
Of running through the sky?
Of searching every forest
Or jumping way up high?

Do you believe in little critters
That visit every spring?
Or how a snowflake glitters
And makes you want to sing?

Do you believe in the simplest ones
Like the one that brings new life?
Or the one that takes you in its grasp
And guides you through your strife?

I'd like to tell of you a tale
A little one of my own
Of how a simple junkyard boy
Took the lightning's throne

He fought off all the baddies
Fighting for the good
Beside other elemental rulers
Who hid behind cloth hoods

His best friend was the Earthen king
Who was more of a teddy bear
And his lover was the water's queen
Who was her own kind of rare

Let me tell you of the Arctic King
And his long lost little brother
And the ruler of the flames
Who was a man just like no other

And one cannot forget
The king of all elements
Of how his life was rough at first
But he protected all one hundred percent

Their lessons learnt were hard
And their travels they were many
And of course there were the times
Where they questioned if they were ready

Yet despite all their troubles
They got through in the end
Relishing in love they found
And discovering many a friend

But what happened you may ask
To this unique little group
Now that I leave to you
And your own little troop

So as you go off playing
Dreaming of what it was like
I will sit here watching
And let the memories strike

Memories of a time
When fire stood by ice
Of earth teaching energy
And water's sacrifice

I will but remember
What the pirates did
How the winds sang eerily
And when from shadows we hid

And as the memories return
I will sense when company nears
And turn to look through my one eye
At faces free of fears

The king of earth sits by me
While ice and energy stand
Fire sends me a knowing smirk
While water takes my hand

Our hearts and minds may remain strong
Even as our youth takes leave
And yet I have to ask again
Do you truly believe?
